I had a 11 year old LG Plasma TV whose screen went blank one day. It had been working fine and then suddenly the screen went black and it would try to turn on but would ultimately show a blank screen then power off. Since there had been no degradation of the display quality over time I had figured that repair would be possible without having to replace the display or even the entire TV. I called a half dozen other repair shops and all refused to even look at my TV since it was a plasma tv. I understand that plasma type displays are now considered outdated and replaced by LCD and OLED but I was discouaraged that most repair shops wouldn't even bother looking at my TV. Enter Frank and his mobile service to the rescue! He told me upfront that there would be a non refundable $75 diagnostic fee. If it was deemed repairable and parts were available that would go towards the final repair. A very resonable cost since even the cheapest TV's nowadays range from a few hundred dollars to well over $1000. In the end it was a simple fix...it the PSU had some degraded soldering and Frank was able to resolder them and tested the screen to success within an hour. It was truly a great win since I saved a bunch of money (repairs with labor cost $150 in the end) from buying a new screen, diverted e waste from the landfill and was able to keep money into the local economy by giving Frank the chance to fix something completely repairable. Frank took a look at my parents Sony TV which wasn't powering on. After doing some diagnostics he found the that an isolator transformer was bad on the power supply. He checked to see if this part was available from Sony which unfortunately it wasn't. He said we could try and find one online/aftermarket but I wouldn't trust them. So I guess a new TV it is. First off, you should remember that not all TV's can be repaired. TV manufacturers would much rather force you buy a new one. But if it can be repaired, and parts are still available Frank is the guy to do it. I think he is honest and straightforward. I called about a 4 year old 75 inch Sony Bravia. Turns out the main circuit motherboard, the display board were shot. It was going to be too much to fix, plus when he called Sony, they informed him that the parts were out of stock, with no in-stock date scheduled. Typical Sony. So its $60 bucks for Frank to check whether it can be fixed or not. I think thats well worth it for a TV that costs over 2 grand. read more

Frank is awesome. Quality work, responsive service, reasonable pricing and very pleasant personality. I had the "8 blinks of death" on my big screen 2010 Panasonic. Frank came by at 5pm on same day of call and cleaned/vacuumed the fans and then replaced the capacitor, which measured low. Still failed. Frank then researched the problem and talked to Panasonic and concluded the S-board needed to be replaced. He ordered the board and later came back to install it. Then voila - success! The initial visit was charged a $40 troubleshooting fee, which was applied to the initial effort. Installation of S-board was another $40 of labor as well as cost of the board, and included about 30 min of wait time to ensure the TV did not die again. It did not and we have enjoyed our TV since. I called him at 9:30am Saturday and he said how does 11am sound for me to come over and take a look. Frank arrived 10 minutes early to diagnose my Toshiba LED TV. It was over 5 years old (probably 6) and unfortunately, the display was bad, and would be more expensive to fix than to buy a new one. Still, all he charged was his very reasonable fee to diagnose, which he had quoted me over the phone. Incidentally, I called on a Friday evening and he was able to diagnose the TV the next day! Not only that, but he gave me great advice for what kind of TV to purchase next and from where. Called about a six year old 60" Samsung Plasma that was blanking out the screen at will. Frank scheduled a repair diagnosis within three days. Found that the main board needed replacing. Ordered the board and came back to install. Unfortunately, the TV had two other bad boards. Frank asked if we wanted to replace and we decided to buy new. Frank was professional and good for his word. He tried for at least 1.5 hours to install the new board and then isolate the other problems. Not his fault the TV just gave it up! I'm surprised that Frankfixtv is still in business. Frank came out to see what was wrong with my TV. Now my big screen was an old rear projector but was still salvageable. He told me what was wrong and told me he would call me back the next day with a quote. 3 days later I called him to find out what was going on. He didn't even remember me at first and then told me he was still waiting to hear back from his suppliers to see if they had my part. 4 days after that I was still waiting to hear back from him! After 8 days and out $50 (just for him to come look) I just went and bought a new TV. He may very well know how to fix TVs, I'll never know. But his customer service sucks!!!! read more

My 70" Sharp T.V. died. Frank Fix TV returned my phone call and came to my house later that day. He diagnosed the problem and knew it would need a new panel that would restore power. He called many parts suppliers, eventually having to have the part shipped from Sharp in Japan. It took two weeks to arrive in San Diego, but we set up an appointment to get it installed the same day it arrived. My T.V. is back to as good as new. Because Frank has authorization to deal with the actual T.V. companies he was able to acquire the part. My experience was great! When our 2 and a half year old 48 inch plasma TV stopped working, I wasn't sure if I should buy a new one or repair it.
