Went on Sunday at 4 pm, as my friends and I do every Sunday. This place was BUSY unlike most other restaurants at that time. The facilities were OK, definitely aging, but I'm there for the food. Service was incredibly slow because at the same time they sat our table of 6, they then sat a table of 8, another table of 6 and table of 4 in our waiter's section. Poor guy was literally sweating a storm on his forehead, as he ran around trying to handle all the customers. That's likely a problem with the host desk, poor planning. From the moment we arrived, the service was poor. Our waitress had an attitude right away, despite us being polite and simply trying to order. It only got worse when my friend--who is vegetarian/pescatarian--asked a few questions about the menu. Instead of being helpful, the waitress seemed annoyed and unwilling to assist. To top it off, my order was completely wrong. I ordered a burrito bowl and was given a burrito instead. By that point, the experience was already frustrating enough that it didn't feel worth trying to fix. I came here with a big group so they had ordered some family style meals. The food was all delicious. I loved the queso and chips... ate a ton of it. The salad was actually one of my favorite parts. The ranch was so tasty. I got a raspberry margarita that was divine. The environment was really fun. The patio out front looks like a great space for happy hour. Had a delicious lunch in a beautiful atmosphere! The service was great, the bougainvillea was beautiful, the birds were funny (flying by with tortilla chips and dipping them in the fountain). I've been wanting to check this restaurant out for some time while home in the Valley. Had no idea it was once a George's Ole. When I lived in Arizona in the late '60's and '70"s George's Ole on E. 48th Street and Indian School Rd. near our house was my favorite Mexican restaurant. Aunt Childadas keeps the tradition alive. Good things at Aunt Chilada's: big and unique space, dog friendly patio, margs, chips and salsa I had a fish taco and a cheese enchiladas. The fish taco had no flavor and the fish was these tiny fried pieces -like the bottom of the barrel. The enchilada was smothered in red sauce which was terrible. I could barely eat it and the little I did eat I couldn't get that sauce taste out of my mouth and the cheese was globby. Also ordered guac and that was also tasteless. It needed citrus, salt and spice. If I ever come back it will only be for an apps and margs. read more

We've been here plenty, and it's always the same story: they show up, they deliver, and I leave wondering why other spots can't figure out basic consistency. This time we sat inside because the patio misters weren't on yet. Angelo was our server, and he kept it tight: quick greet, drinks in before I had a chance to start side-eyeing the chips basket like a raccoon. I ordered the Mexican Candy: Blanco tequila, watermelon purée, pineapple juice, Tajín rim, lime. And yes, it really tastes like Mexican candy. Sweet, tart, a little spicy, basically childhood nostalgia with a tequila chaser. I don't even like watermelon, but here it makes sense. This is what happens when someone actually knows how to balance flavors instead of just tossing fruit in a blender and praying. Now, the chips and salsa. Still undefeated. The salsa has black olives in it, which sounds weird until you try it, and then it just makes sense. Pro tip: ask for the hot salsa. Mix it in for the perfect burn, but pace yourself unless you're into self-inflicted pain. And the flour tortilla chips? Fluffy, crispy, airy, basically the glow-up corn chips could only dream of. Once you've had these, regular tortilla chips just feel like punishment. Main event: the breakfast quesadilla. Eggs, cheese, picadillo as my protein, plus beans and potatoes. No pics, because it didn't stand a chance. The cheese was molten, the eggs weren't overcooked into sad rubber, and the picadillo tasted like someone's abuela actually smacked the cook with a wooden spoon until they seasoned it right. Tortilla hit that golden-brown crispy perfection. Beans? Smooth and flavorful. Potatoes? Actual seasoning, not just "salt and despair." Bottom line: this place doesn't miss. Just straight-up good food, strong drinks, and flour chips so good they make every other chip feel like a sad afterthought. Had a team dinner here that was catered with some good Mexican food including different meats like carne asada, chicken, and carnitas. Buffet style so it was a lot of food. Enchiladas were very good as were the chips and spicy chorizo dip. Service was decent and they had someone making fresh churros and fried ice cream which was awesome. Very clean and nice property for big groups and you can eat indoor or outdoor complete with heat lamps and TVs. read more

The food is bland. Almost tasteless. It's good quality but you have to put a bunch of sauce on it to get any taste. The service is horrible. I had to ask 4 times to get water and 3 times to get a pint glass for my beer. And a couple of times to get parts of my order they forgot. If you're there the trick is to ask a manager for things. We came with 22 guests (!) when our elderly relatives had made a reservation several weeks prior, in person (but somehow the hostess forgot to write it down) and they still took us all in on a moment's notice after saying there was no such reservation when we all showed up. My shrimp cocktail was out of this world. Everyone said their food was amazing. (As designated driver I didn't drink but I heard the cocktails were just OK.) They had a HUGE menu for liquor and cocktails. The environment is incredibly festive. The only improvement we see could be made are: 1) write reservations down; and 2) fix those horrible seats in the dining room. You sink well into the seat, past the wood frame of the chair, so the wood cuts off the circulation on your legs as you sit because the cushions are so old they have no more support or give, they just sink you right into a square wooden hole and everyone in our party complained about it. read more

Also, it is really interesting to read about the history of this building and how it used to be a brothel and a trade mining store and how the area receive their name What I didn't like about the restaurant was we were located near the banquet and the door was open and the people in there were really really loud maybe a birthday party for women Breault shower I don't know so that was frustrating. Also, the ceiling is super super dirty. It really needs to get all that stuff scraped off of it and painted because it's so brown and not because of paint so that was kind of gross to look at what we ate, but besides that it's a super large restaurant very clean otherwise we really enjoyed it and I would definitely suggest people to come here. read more

We decided on Mexican instead of BBQ for dinner. We had reservations and was seated promptly, which is nice. We got an outside table and it was gorgeous. Walking in, you are basically walking through the outside seating to get to the hostess stand. She was very accommodating with getting us an outside table. Pros: The chips were a crispy light and airy with the salsa that definitely tasted house made. We ordered the guacamole and it was excellent. Creamy and chunks of avocado. Would order again. I ordered the steak fajitas and my husband got the taco salad. When it came his was literally a mountain of food. My steak fajitas were cooked a nice medium and good char marks on the onion and pepper. Cons: The fajitas were a little bland, really no seasoning that I could taste. And my husband had to eat at least 1/4 of his salad before he got to the beans and chicken. He took almost all of the tortilla strips off the top just to find the lettuce. Recommended? Yes. Food was good and service was great. Our server did a really great job balancing the many tables we had. Refills on drinks was prompt. read more

The patio and restaurant has bright, vibrant colors and a straw bar roof giving the illusion that you are in vacation in Mexico. The restaurant is very spread out and has plenty of seating, but sadly not enough servers. On our visit it was a Monday at about 5pm. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come for our drink order, at which time we ordered our food as well. We ordered margaritas which were very tasty and the best part of our visit, but sadly we weren't able to get a second one because of the lack of service. The salsa is good but has olives in it (??) And is VERY mild. We had to ask for hot salsa to add some spice to it. The flour chips were very crispy and AMAZING. My chicken enchiladas were a tad spicy and very basic. Beans were good but rice was dry and not so flavorful. My husband ordered the chicken chimichanga and took about 2 bites, he said it was terrible. They had an open mic night on the bar side of the patio which looked like fun. If we were to return it would not be for the food or the service, but for the ambiance and layout. This would be more of an appetizer and drinks kind of place for us. One thing that I will say is that the host was very nice, he allowed my 4 year old to take a rubber ducky from the fountain and said there is a treasure box that young kids can choose a toy from after they eat as well! It's Sunday and we are meeting family for lunch today . Full disclosure, this restaurant was in our backyard for 37 years before moving. We have allot of memories here. To start, there is a deep Phoenix History in this building and the surrounding mercury mines throughout Dreamy Draw. It served as a post office, miners pay station, to mention a couple. The Resturant is a fun place to come with friends, family, co-workers and happy hour. It hosts special occasions including weddings etc. The atmosphere is Mexican with bright colors splashed against the traditional Saltillo tile floors. There are three bars, two outside and one inside to cater to the happy hour and special event crowds. There are large outdoor seating options in Mexican themed settings with a natural canopy and colorful umbrellas that set the vibe of your visit. The menu offers all your traditional favorites and includes children options to keep the kiddos happy. My personal favorite is the beautifully seasoned Machaca Beef Chimichanga's. Your meal experience is started with complementary Salsa & Chips, both Corn and flour tortillas chips which is a nice touch! You can ask for their spicier salsa. Our server today was Marco who did a wonderful job keeping our party of five happy. In general service is prompt and attentive,however; it can get packed during holiday and peaks meal times. Reservations encouraged. (Tip, go on Sundays). Parking can also be challenging as people line the streets to park once the parking lot is full. I had been here before for a celebration of life service and was impressed with the venue so I wanted to come back and try the full experience. We sat in outdoor seating and it was beautiful and secluded for being in the city. The birds flying around and the quiet chatter of other patrons as well as the colorful decor and soft music playing in the background made for a perfect setting. My Baha fish taco was ok, I ordered rice & beans to go with it, the rice tasted a bit strange, and I've had better refried beans. The flour chips were good. Drinks - if you're going to charge $17 for a margarita then make it a good one, ( this wasn't) and if you're going to charge $11 for a can of Church Music then at least let the customer know in advance that it's in a 12oz can and not on tap. Brought out spicy hot sauce to add to salsa for the perfect heat, plus order if quacamole. Chili relleno with green sauce, side of blackbeans and rice was covered in cheese. Bummed. We love riding our bikes to Aunt Chilada's for lunch--the food is always great. I made an Easter Sunday reservation several weeks ago, before they had posted their holiday menu. When we arrived, we were told the regular menu wasn't available--only a brunch buffet at $50 per person. For 7 adults (including 4 seniors), it came out to $430 with tip. The buffet itself was pretty underwhelming--burritos, eggs, fruit, overly fatty roast, and sliced ham. And no chips and salsa. Definitely not the experience we were expecting. read more

As someone who is a bean and cheese burrito connoisseur (self proclaimed) their bean and cheese has the perfect combination of refried beans and cheese. Each bite had an even amount of cheese and beans . My friends and I shared the deep fried ice cream and sopaipilla. Both were great, my personal favorite was the deep friend ice cream.
