Hidden flavor alert in Greensboro! I'll be honest--I passed on Aunt E's for a while because I hadn't seen many people talking about it. The one person I did see post wasn't even an influencer, just someone I trusted... and I'm glad I finally listened. Because whew ‍ the flavor here is REAL. Everything we had was seasoned well, cooked with care, and tasted like someone who actually loves feeding people was in the kitchen. Nothing felt rushed or generic. I arrived right at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon to get brunch with a friend. There were other people walking up as I was. Checking in was a little unorganized, in my opinion. A dedicated host wasn't apparent, which is interesting considering they just opened for the day. I was sat at 1:07pm while waiting for my friend to arrive. Faith, our waitress, came over at 1:09pm, and I ordered 2 waters, but she only brought one. Faith did bring my friends a drink when she saw they had arrived. We ordered at 1:22pm. I got 2 cheesesteak egg rolls as an appetizer. I got the 3 whole wings with cabbage and mashed potatoes as a side. I also got aunt e's spiked punch. In my opinion, the "spiked" part of the punch was missing... The alcoholic beverage came 10 mins later at 1:32pm. Faith brought dinner rolls at 1:34pm The egg rolls came at 1:36pm. They were DELICIOUS! I would return just for these, honestly. This was the highlight of the whole experience. My entree came at 1:52pm and my friend's food came a minute later. The chicken was just okay. It wasn't crispy as I expected it to me and lacked flavor. The cabbage and mashed potatoes were fine. The food here is excellent, I highly recommend going here. I got the lamb chops with Jollof rice with a side of mac & cheese and loaded mash potatoes. Let me say everything is flavorful & delicious. I ordered the shrimp basket with a side of sweet heat sauce and fries with a side of green beans!! Everything came out hot and fresh! The shrimp were large and tasty! Fries were good but the green beans were so I good I could have eaten a whole bowl! Hubby had the wings which he said were crispy and good! Visited here when in Greensboro for an Convocation. It was recommended to me to visit and to try the fried fish. Instead I ordered the oxtail dinner with jollof rice, and cabbage. The cabbage had a burnt taste, so I asked for macaroni and cheese which was good. The oxtails were good but have a lot of salt in the jerk sauce. The yams were REALLY sweet so if that's not your thing I wouldn't recommend. I would give the yams a 7. The Mac and cheese was an average good Mac and cheese. I would give it a 6.5/10. I had a taste for southern fare, specifically mac&cheese and some type of vegetable. We found this place after a basic web search and it had good reviews. We arrived right when it opened and were a little confused where to go as no one was there to welcome us. It is a big place as one half is an event space and the other is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We were greeted by a waitress, who walked us to one of the dining areas near the bar. She was nice, took our drink order, and told us that she would bring some bread with our drinks. While we waited for the drinks, my wife went to the bathroom. Now, remember, we arrived right when it opened. Sadly, the restrooms were dirty. While we did see someone come clean it later, we were unimpressed that it was not clean from the beginning. Now, the food was pretty good. The bread was warm and reminded me of dinner rolls that you would buy when you wanted to impress your guest for a gathering. I ordered the bourbon salmon with mac&cheese and green beans. It was plated nicely as the salmon rested on a bed of rice. Yet, I wish the green beans were in a bigger bowl or simply placed on the main plate. The salmon was cooked pretty good. This is a restaurant & event space. We arrived at opening for lunch. I instantly loved their music selection. Think hip hop & R&B from late 90s to 2010ish, all the jams. Unfortunately, I don't think they were quite ready for guests. No one was upfront to greet us so we stood in the lobby for a few minutes. They could give more attention to cleaning (wiping tables and chairs, vacuuming floors, etc.) before the doors open. Also, the bathroom was extremely disappointing as the stalls were very dirty. In their defense, we saw someone clean the bathrooms and vacuuming before we left. Nonetheless, the food was pretty good. I got the chicken wings with green beans and sweet potato casserole. The wings were good and meaty and, but it was way too much sauce. The sides were both really good as well. My husband's salmon was amazing as well. I'll also mention that our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive. In the restaurant, they offer a mix of 2-person and 4-person tables as well as bar seating. The decor was pretty lack luster and could use an update. They have a small, private event room available. It could comfortably fit about 25 people. They also have a large event room that comes with a small stage and a private bar area. It looks perfect for small-medium weddings, birthday parties, etc. in the back is an elegant outdoor patio. Upon entering the building there a very strong smell of "cleaning" supplies. I guess they were just finishing up prior to today's service. A man near the entrance pointed towards the bar, so we made our way that way. We were pleasantly greeted by a young lady and asked our seating presence. We sat outside since it's covered and a very nice day. Another young lady came out to take our drink orders and to see if we had any questions, introduced herself as Michelle. She was able to answer all of our questions promptly and also have recommended items; some of today's sides were not on the menu. Both ladies checked on us during the meal which is very thoughtful. The food was FANTASTIC!!!! We were told the guy in the kitchen is from Philly, so the cheesesteaks are 'that good'. My wings ( sweet heat with a sprinkle of lemon pepper) were crisp, not over sauced, not spicy, just delightfully delicious!!!! I'm not sure of the lemon pepper was there or not. The sweet potato fries were also good (sprinkled with brown sugar). I'd prefer a honey dip for them over the sprinkled brown sugar - just my opinion. Also they were not very tender. They were replaced with the garlic green beans because they didn't seem interested in taking them off my bill. Stopped by this new soul food spot in Greensboro on Saturday. They played GREAT music so let's start off there. Everyone who worked there had a smile on & greeted us, very friendly staff. We were told they were out of all the egg rolls which was sad, but we ordered our food. We ordered tenders with sweet chili sauce Mac n cheese & cabbage w/ sausage. My other friend ordered the founder plate (comes with two huge pieces and toast) she had Mac n cheese & sweet potato casserole with pecans (you have the option to order without), I ordered the same but with rice, cabbage w/ sausage & an extra side of sweet potato casserole w/pecans. (The meals come with two sides). You get free Hawaiian rolls before your meal comes out, very yummy. The food came out quick and it was very delicious! Everything was on point! And seasoned very well!!! Now we had two gentleman sit next to us and they ordered the cheesesteak rolls, so we were like wait, we were told they were out. Maybe the waitress didn't know so we waited to see if they really got the rolls.... Sure enough, they did! So my friend talked to the manager on duty & she was very nice and apologized to us. She stated they got the wrappers in so they were told to sell them. Our disappointment was our waitress didn't inform us they started selling them again & did not ask if we wanted to place an order. I've worked in customer service for a long time and it would've been really if she came back and told us about the egg rolls being available. Especially because when she told us, she knew we were sad about them being out & expressed we really wanted to try them. We let the manager know about that and she said she will pass that feedback to our waitress. The manager was so nice, she let us taste the rolls on the house! That was NOT what we expected but it was a very very nice gesture. We really appreciated it and it was WORTH IT! The rolls are a MUST! Next time I would love to try the jerk chicken rolls! At first I was going to give this a 3 star, but the fact the manager listened to us and made things right, I brought it back up to a 4. We didn't expect anything for free, we just wanted her to know especially since they've only been open for 5 months. Nothing wrong with a little feedback & coaching of the staff. They were very enjoyable, however, if they came with a side of sauce, may be sweet and sour, they would have been out of this world. I wanted to order the three piece whole wings, but was informed that they were out so we opted for the wings dinner, which came with two sides, so we selected mac & cheese and the southern cabbage, and we also added the jollof rice. The wait time to receive our entrées was a bit lengthy, but our food came out hot. Our wings came crispy and tossed in Aunt E's sweet heat sauce. They were absolutely delicious. The mac & cheese was creamy, but needed a little bit more flavor. The cabbage needed a pinch or two of salt. The jollof rice was not what I expected, so I would wo pass on that next time and opt for a different side. I had never heard of this place and was brought here by my family. It is located off of Lawndale Drive in Greensboro at one of the shopping centers right across from Target. On a Saturday night, we were seated immediately. All of the staff are very attentive, from the hostesses, the servers to the bartenders, to the runners, everyone had Grade A customer service. We casually ordered drinks and appetizers and admittedly could not order another thing. We got the crab fries and the Aunt E's sampler and everything we ate was delicious. The crab fries are worth every bit of the $20 they charge, a very ample about of crab with sautéed onions and peppers, this is easily shareable for a table of four. The Aunt E's sampler comes with 1 jerk egg roll, 1 cheesesteak egg roll, a beef patty and mozzarella sticks. Do not be deterred by the fact that it only says one. These are the biggest egg rolls I have ever seen in my life, they cut them in half and by having one half, you'll really feel like you had a whole one. The jerk chicken egg roll is packed, a little hint of sweetness with the perfect balance of heat. The cheesesteak egg roll is just as packed with great flavor (we ordered another round of these to go). The beef patty has all of the flavor but none of the crumbs (if you eat beef patties, you know what I'm saying) and I'm always down for a good mozzarella stick. Upon taking my order, she returned with a basket of rolls with no butter. The lack of butter wasn't a problem as either I was too hungry or the rolls were just fine without butter as I never asked for any. It did not take long before she returned with my meal. The salmon sliders did not disappoint! They were cooked just right; I chose grilled and it was not too dry but yet cooked just right with a little crisp. They were so good that I really wanted to eat all three, but I was quite full by this time. In fact I could only eat a few of the sweet potato fries.
