We decided to place an online to-go order, and the staff was very proactive, they called us shortly after to let us know they were out of turkey wings. What really impressed us was the customer service; they offered to substitute the turkey wings for oxtails at no extra charge. That kind of hospitality is hard to find! Im honestly surprised to see this go under the radar. This place is definitely better than it gives off. I went the other day after seeing the place randomly and decided to try it out. The small size and simplicity of the menu made me a bit hesitant at first. For starters I had their fried shrimp with a speciality sauce that didn't taste like anything and some dinner rolls with honey spread on them. The shrimp was actually more enjoyable by itself, which is surprising cause you'd hope the sauce would be an addition to the dish. But what really stole the show was the entree. First the portion size was well above what I paid. The plating really stood out. We ordered the Ox Tails and the Pasta. The Ox tails were Huge to begin with, not only that but they were actually really good. I can't remember what sides were had with it but you can choose your own. The pasta had a nice spice to it, the dish was presented well and had more than enough protein spread throughout. I also didn't have any issues with service or wait times. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I tried to support this restaurant multiple times because it's Black-owned and I liked the turkey wings, but the service and overall experience have been consistently unacceptable. On one visit, the owner asked for feedback about the bar selection. When we gave honest input, we were dismissed with "we don't need that." That alone didn't sit right. Another time, I brought a friend from out of town and it was embarrassing. We waited over 30 minutes just to be acknowledged. No water, no service. When we finally ordered, they kept coming back saying they were out of items to the point we could barely order anything. At the same time, loud explicit music was blasting from the kitchen and nothing was done when we asked for it to be turned down. They were even out of to-go boxes. When we calmly raised concerns, the manager responded with attitude and said, "you've been here before, you should know better." Then went on to make an inappropriate comment implying that the host had "something wrong with him," which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. I gave them one last chance months later and it was more of the same. Items out of stock and poor service. Then the owner approached me about a past "incident" and asked if that was when "the B word started being used." That never happened and was honestly shocking to hear. She also admitted she tells the chef to turn the music down and he doesn't listen, which says a lot about how the place is being run. I went to A'leurer (pronounced "allure") for a celebratory team dinner, selected by my boss who lives out of state. Based on the name, she assumed it might be French or some sort of soul fusion. Before going, I asked a friend who's active on Yelp if she'd heard of it, and she mentioned it was a newer soul food spot, so that's all I knew walking in. When we arrived, I realized this space used to be the Thai restaurant with the bridge and fish. The bridge is gone, but the beautiful door and some of the gold décor remain, which was a nice touch. The absolute highlight of the evening was the staff. Truly five-star service. From the host to our waitress, everyone was kind, patient, professional, and genuinely welcoming. All the stars go to them. Drinks were unfortunately a miss overall, with one exception: the blueberry lemonade, which I really enjoyed. My colleagues did not enjoy their cocktails. The signature drink (named after the restaurant) included muscadine wine, tequila, triple sec, and blueberries, but it didn't land for our table. We were pleasantly surprised with complimentary homemade biscuits and honey butter. I personally thought they were a bit burnt, but others at the table enjoyed them. Appetizers were solid. We ordered all varieties of wings--the lemon pepper wings were especially good. The fried mozzarella was also very good, along with the marinara. Entrees were hit or miss. Those who ordered the turkey wings did not enjoy them**. I ordered the fried chicken, which was solid. The fried pork chop was reportedly good, while the steaks were not well received. Sides were also inconsistent. The collards and kale tasted oddly similar. The mac and cheese was dry and not creamy. The yams were okay. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were the weakest dish--they tasted completely unseasoned, and even adding salt and pepper didn't help. Portion sizes were generous, and prices were reasonable, which I appreciated. That said, I don't think I'd return for a full meal. I would happily order the lemon pepper wings to go and get another blueberry lemonade. The team working there is doing a wonderful job, and I truly hope the kitchen continues to evolve. With some thoughtful menu tweaks and more consistent seasoning across dishes, this place has a lot of potential. While the service was exceptional and portions were generous, the food quality was inconsistent. In walking in, you get, ok this might be good vibes! Unfortunately I didn't have a great experience. Let's start with drinks, three of us ordered cocktails and one wanted sweet wine. I guess the wine wasn't chilled so they thought adding ice cubes to the wine was a good idea but it wasn't and perhaps the server or bartender didn't know what sweet wine meant because it was not sweet. Since it was four of us, we wanted to try a variety of things but those table tops for four don't accommodate that. So we asked if we could get a bigger table because we were ordering a lot of food. We were first met with a lot of opposition. Then finally after we were like where is all the food going to go that they moved us into what I guess is the group area. Now for the food, I ordered oxtails because everyone's reviews were good and even the staff was like yes but I guess I had the wrong cook. I knew they wouldn't be authentic to Jamaican culture. It appeared it was moist because of the light coating of sauce but they were super dry and tough one you cut into it...major disappointment. Others meals came out over cooked or dry. It also took FOREVER to get our food! The only thing that was on point was the honey biscuits they bring you at the beginning and the wings. I'm genuinely surprised by how low the reviews are at this place! We are from out of town, but a friend of Jo lives locally recommended them. I had never heard of it so had no expectations. As someone who doesn't usually eat soul food, I was genuinely blown away. The oxtail, wings and turkey wings were all fall off the bone!!!! The mac was delicious as were all the other sides. There were about 20 tables when there could have been doubled. Water feature in the lobby that was not working with empty change. Walking into the restaurant it was very elegant and nice. The server we had she was nice but also kind of forgetful. If I would have read the reviews on the wait time on food I would have eaten something before coming. By the time I got my food other people in my party was either done or asking for boxes. The spaghetti is made to order. Veggies does not come with the meal, they are priced at $4 per vegetable. The oxtails were very fatty (5 of us ordered the oxtail and had the same issue), it would be nice if some of the fat could have been trimmed off especially if your slow cooking them it will retain its tenderness with little fat. The mozzarella squares were good nice cheese pull, greens beans were good as well. Mac and cheese is a hit or miss. The asparagus is a definitely no. I understand having a party and charging a service fee, however your service fee also determines the tip which is inconvenient because the server forgot certain food, a guest party was told 10 mins on wings which took almost 45 mins after complaining about the meatloaf and I received my food after everyone was almost done with theirs. I'm so glad my mother chose this place to celebrate my grandmothers birthday! The atmosphere was clean and cute. We had a good time fellowshipping & carrying on. Once the food came out we shut up, it was so good!!!! I already know what I'm getting next time I go! My oxtails and rice were so flavorful! My grandma got the lamb chops and left no crumbs! However, all other sides are ala carte, so be aware that when you are ordering meat, it comes by itself. The homemade biscuits that accompany the meal are delicious. My husband and I was there for Easter Sunday April 5th, 2026. When we walked in the man at the desk told us it would be a wait time to eat so he handed us a beeper, so we went out to wait in the car. The food was amazing! The atmosphere and the service was excellent, would definitely recommend if you have not eaten here before you are missing out. Saw the advertisement on TV, but had not heard about it before, so we wanted to give it a try and we were NOT disappointed. We tried to come and support a black business. We were a party of 6 and the only options were 2 tables that set 4 people each or a booth. We chose the booth but could NOT sit comfortably there and no way we would have been able to actually EAT in this seating arrangement. We asked our waitress if we could add one seat to open end of the booth. We were told no because the owner didn't want to change the decor or something ridiculous. Mind you the restaurant was not full and adding one chair would not have been a great remedy but would have satisfied the situation enough since we were already seated. After being told no, we left and went to Outback which had seating and eating space for six comfortably. I hope the owners read this and make accommodations for larger groups because they lost six customers today. read more

The food is awesome but they ran out of stuff that was on the menu. Greeter Jermaine was an absolute gem and he was very polite and respectful. They only concern that I had was our waitress. She did not do a very good job of waiting on out section. We had a birthday party for my sister and they had two servers for the back section. i had to ask her three times to refill my glass of tea. Then when I couldn't eat anymore, I had a plate full of food and I had to ask for the to go container and then I had to ask for a bag. She brought my nephew a diet coke that was flat and then he asked three times for a refill and then they ran out of diet coke. She had a good attitude but was lacking on providing good customer service. The other server that served the other part of our other party was on point. She was very professional and served our other guest very well. The only problem we had with her is that my nephew ordered pork chops and it took way too long for him to get them. Nice looking place but everything is so slow. Took our server forever to even really speak to us. Waited 25 minutes for drinks, was told 1/3 of the menu items ran out, ordered something waited an hour just for them to say they ran out. Food was mid at best, pot roast dry as hell and the Mac is okay. This is not somewhere I would ever come again or recommend to anyone else. They need real improvement . read more
