Came here for Father's Day, the ambiance is bustling, but still gives old school up scale. We had the deviled eggs, salmon cakes, and fried chicken. All of the dishes came with okra that I have to say was the best cooked okra I've ever had. I ate everyones portion. The salmon cakes were delicious. Spicier than I expected, the flavor was wonderful. The order didn't seem that big, but it was quite rich and very filling. My wife enjoyed her black bean cakes. Others at our table enjoyed the French toast (which was huge), the avocado toast, the vegetable omelette, and the salmon salad. Had a nice dinner with some girl friends to celebrate thanksgiving and catch up. We made a reservation for the three of us at 6:45pm on a Tuesday just to be safe but it was not too busy at the time. There's a decent lot for parking, so no worries on that front either. We were seated at a large booth near the front by the hostess stand. I just ordered a glass of chardonnay and for our entrees, we enjoyed the fish cakes and bacon wrapped meatloaf. The food came out surprisingly fast, less than 10 minutes, and we all enjoyed our meals. Since we were celebrating, couldn't pass up dessert and shared a frozen peanut butter pie. It was a colossal serving and the three of us together only got through about half, but it was delicious. We topped it all off with a couple coffees. Haven't been here in a long time and this is the reason why my wife and I only frequent a few select restaurants. To start, the server was nice and all the servers were helpful but it was quite chaotic for some reason and the restaurant was no where near full. My wife and I ordered chicken sandwiches that came with hand cut fries and our friends ordered eggs Benedict and sweet potato hash, both had poached eggs. My wife's grilled chicken was dry and rubbery. My fried chicken was dry and cold. Both orders of fries were burnt and cold. Probably not cooked fresh. The poached eggs on our friends dishes were totally hard boiled. They had to ask several times to get them replaced. The space was beautifully decorated (I loved the light fixtures), our server was excellent (sorry, I forgot his name), and our food was delicious. We opted for the Fried Green Tomato Benedict and Sweet Potato Hash entrees. The grits had a very nice flavor, and were creamy, despite them being a little on the dry side. Very disappointed with my experience! Shocked as I absolutely love the bistro and gvg. Went here to celebrate my 39th wedding anniversary and they never asked are you celebrating anything tonight? This is common place at most elegant restaurants. I just think the vibe from staff was robotic and functional no charm or personality. I ordered my steak medium it came out and had blood all over my plate. My companions were almost halfway done with their meal by the time they came back and I was able to tell them to get it away from me. They all agreed it was under the server and the person that brought it back to me and this is where I really had a problem. The state dish is prepared with béarnaise sauce under it and laid out pretty on a plate. They brought my meat back to me. It still had blood in some of the chunky pieces and it was just on a little plate no more sauce and I think if you're paying over $30 for a plate of food, it should be presented the same way it normally comes. To be honest after having blood in front of me I lost my appetite and didn't even eat three pieces of that meat they never offered to comp or bring me something different or even a free dessert for the time it took to get my meal correct and then it wasn't correct in my opinion onto the other items the whipped sweet potatoes had a strong vanilla taste and a little bit watered down the collard greens need to be cooked far longer. They had potential they just weren't there yet. The Branzino special had skin on the underside, and a lot of people do not choose to eat the skin of a fish. The mashed potatoes are thick and rustic with skin in them. The cornbread was absolutely delicious. Their specialty cocktail menu was lacking. We went for a small holiday luncheon with friends. They put us in the reddish bar room. We had a big comfy booth. Being in this room was a real treat. It's decorated in art deco and there was even an artist painting on canvas as we ate right by our table. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. First, you can easily make a reservation on Open Table as long as there is opening. As it was a Friday night, it's nice to have an advanced guarantee of a table at a popular place. We were seated in a comfy booth and greeted by our waitress. To start we ordered a bottle of wine (Sauvignon Blanc). Our waitress was very attentive, keeping our wine glasses full and checking in on our needs. There is a lot of good stuff on their menu but I guess I'm a victim of habit as I tend to get same things as I know they will be tasty. Just like my previous review, for the appetizer we got the Fried Green Tomatoes (Voodoo Sauce™, blue cheese dressing, crisp bacon, green onion). Each was nicely fried and topped with ample bacon and sauces. They are well known for their voodoo sauce which goes great on most things. It adds a nice sweet and spicy tomato hot sauce type flavor. My husband got the Cornmeal Crusted Catfish (coleslaw, creole mayonnaise, creamy grits, buttered green beans) for his entree. It was a nice big piece of fish and had a beautifully fried cornmeal crust. My husband is particular about fried stuff being too much, but he said this was perfect. Added some crispy exterior but the fish inside was still flashy and flavorful. Lots of textures in this dish from the various sides and toppings and all well executed. I talked about ordering something else but what can I say, I enjoy their Skillet-Fried Chicken (mashed potatoes, ham hock collards, gravy, cornbread).it was even better straight from the L32 Kitchen. It is the ultimate Southern comfort dish. It is still a massive portion with a leg, wing, and huge breast pieces. The chicken has great crispy skin and very juicy and moist. I love cornbread and it is done right here. Mostly savory with a little sweetness. The potatoes and collards are also solid. I appreciate the addition of the gravy as it goes great with the potatoes, collards, and chicken in my opinion. It was a Wednesday night so they had live music going as well as a separate area where you couldn't hear the music. The vibes were pretty mellow, it was definitely busy for a Wednesday but my servers were still very attentive. What a great place for a brunch gathering! This was my first experience here and it didn't disappoint! The menu had a long list of delicious brunch and lunch items. They also serve Cappuccino and such as well as a full menu of wines and other spirits. I especially liked the complimentary warm whole grain bread and butter that came out as we were deciding on what to eat. Thank you, we devoured it! Afterward came our brunch items, the food was great, no complaints by anybody. Our waiter was very attentive with a few exceptions as he seemed a little inexperienced but quick to fix any small things that were needed, like spoons for coffee and sugar, salt and pepper. One of the waitresses just showed our table with zero face expression, no eye contact and zero word. Servers were slow and NOT attentive. Our waiter was nice but he did have to be did forget a lot of things that were requested and had to make several runs back and forth to the table. I hadn't been to lucky 32 in years, while the vibes have always been grown up, the esthetic seems a little more mature these days. It could just be me. There were a couple ofl apps ordered for the table. The Southern Kitchen Snack was ok. The crackers were too salty and there were reports that you couldn't taste the pimento cheese in the eggs. The smoked trout dip was pretty good, but the star was the whipped cream cheese with pepper jelly. I could've put that on a shoe and it would've been spectacular! Lol The pork cracklin were ok. A little too salty and there short rib is too dry on top of it. To drink, I ordered sweet tea and they live up to their "southern" claims with that tea. It was brewed and sweetened perfectly! Now dinner! I ordered the whisky braised short ribs. OMG the dish was a little salty but it was so good. The short rib was so tender and perfectly cooked. I was expecting the sauce on the short rib to be too sweet, but it was perfectly balanced. The mashed potatoes were so fluffy and well seasoned. The spinach was typical and could have done with a little less salt. I'm writing this two days after my visit. The short rib was a decent portion so I had left overs. Let me tell you, the food was somehow even better! Others ordered the Catfish, Shrimp and Grits, and the She-Crab soup. Only complaint i heard was the croutons that came with the soup are sweet cornbread croutons. Otherwise, clean plates all around! I'm ready to go back for the short rib. I've been to Lucky 32 on and off for 6 years, and it's a place that we enjoy dining at because of their seasonal menu and consistent service. Our reservation was for lunch at 11:30, and our group was promptly seated. They brought bread and butter to our table for starters, which was a great way to break the ice among the group as we had to pass the bread. The host answered all of our menu questions before taking our order. She was very courteous and quick to refill drinks. I ended up settling on the roasted tri-tip salad because it had blue cheese and was a seasonal item. The meat was cooked medium to my liking, and the salad was just large enough to be consumed in one sitting without taking home leftovers. The sweety drop peppers within the salad reminded me of peppadew peppers, and gave a nice bite to the salad. There was enough blue cheese in the salad that there was some leftover on my plate after I had finished the salad, which let me know the salad was loaded. The seating was a combination of booths and tables. Many people were there for a business lunch while others were there to catch up with friends or just enjoy the company of a loved one. Reservations aren't needed, but I just wanted to be sure we were seated immediately (which we were). This was our first time here, but Lucky 32 is part of a family of local restaurants and hotels. We have been to Green Valley Grill (one of those restaurants) before, so we knew we had to get the Truffle Fries here for an appetizer. This is a must order! My husband ordered the jambalaya and if you like really spicy food...this is for you. I ordered the Delta Pasta. The tortellinis and sauce were blended well together. There's a lot of different meats in this dish. My favorite was the shrimp. We also got a brownie sundae to celebrate my husband's birthday. We like that it is a bit quieter than the main dining room. Tonight their local artist, Chip Holton was painting and we enjoyed our front row seats to watch him at work. When we eat at a Quaintance-Weaver restaurant we tend to opt for the seasonal specials. Their Suffolk chicken and their Cornmeal Catfish with any of their sides are always great options if none of the specials pique your interest. The delicious white bean sausage soup warmed us up as our appetizer. My husband chose the chicken pot pie with puffed pastry topper, carrots, onions, celery, green peas, in a creamy white sauce. I went with the Delta pasta with shrimp, lardons, pulled chicken, cheese tortellini, bourbon cream sauce, toasted pecans, and green onions. Both dishes were perfectly executed. This time I had the Fried Green Tomato and Bacon Benedict with a Strawberry Lemon Drop cocktail. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, but I expected a bit more bacon. I had the fried chicken with a Cesar salad(subbed out the collards), mashed potatoes with gravy and it comes with corn bread. Visited with two of my girlfriends on Thursday evening and the restaurant was surprisingly a bit busy. We had a 6PM reservation and were seated immediately and then greeted by our server, who remained phenomenal and prompt throughout our dining experience. The wine list was great, with a diverse set of varietals and reasonably priced pours. I love the truffle fries at Print Works Bistro, so I had to try them at this sister restaurant. They were a thicker cut than the ones at PWB but still a very generous portion, served with an aioli that I just had to take home (sorry for taking the mini silver condiment cup :)) We also tried the deviled eggs (yummy, but not too remarkable) and a cup of the butternut squash soup. The soup hit the spot for my fall comfort food craving, but if you don't like allspice or cinnamon - stay away. Those two spices were very prominent. Besides needing to get back into the swing of being a true Yelp Elite Squad member and writing reviews, eating the Delta Pasta is what led me to make sure I left a review. I didn't know what to expect taste wise because the dish has a lot going on - shrimp, PULLED chicken, tortellini, pecans, bourbon cream sauce and smoky lardons. LOTS of textures and flavors. But it all meshed well together thanks to that bourbon cream sauce that left me sopping it up with the tortellini and table bread. I didn't think I'd like the shredded chicken as opposed to sliced/cubed but it was flavorful and held the sauce well. Also, this entree provides definitely enough to leave you with leftovers, which I had and ate the next morning for breakfast. The pecan crunch cheesecake is amazing. Get it. They have a good food selection for southern style weekend brunch menu. You can ask for cornbread instead of the table bread they normally serve. Get the grilled salmon with both the brown sugar bourbon glaze and Texas Pete glaze. I mix them altogether to satisfy my taste buds. I was a little disappointed with the salmon portion but I know food prices are getting high. I like their cheesy, creamy grits that goes with it. I finished my meal without feeling too full. Our server was very polite. The place is also nice, and the table setting feels like you're at a fine dining restaurant without breaking the bank. My friend and I walked in for lunch, on Saturday about 1:45 without a reservation and were greated and seated immediately. They were fairly busy so surprised there was not a wait. Upon being seated our server came to get our drink order, and asked if we'd like bread. We said yes, please. The bread was good, but as is with everywhere the butter was too hard to spread (this was the only negative thing there, pretty darn good if that's the only 1 thing you wished was better) . Were ordered our food shortly after receiving our drinks, our food came out quicker than expected, which was nice. Everything was delicious!!! I'd never been here before so I was excited to check it out. I think it's a great spot fir lunch. Guessing Dinner would probably be awesome here, however if you're looking for an intimate location I don't think this would be it. Very open floor, with booths and tables. read more
