Service was good but all the food was salty. And they have the nerve to have a sign posted that reads NO REFUNDS!! I wouldn't buy this food for free!!! Soooooo, I'm form out of town, and I wanted soulfood for dinner. Aunt Mary's was the first one to pop up. I should have read the REVIEWS 1st. I ordered the honey jerked lamb chops over rice with mac and cheese and collard greens. When I opened my plate the rice was SWIMMING in gravy looking more like gumbo. The lamb chops looked more like DUMDUM lollipops.........they were so small. My collard greens were sooooooo salty that I know I have hypertension now. The Mac and Cheese was burnt, noodles were over-cooked and the cheese wasn't close to being melted. And toooooo top everything off the establishment has a sign that says NO REFUNDS. I had a taste for some good old oxtails. Unfortunately, aunt Mary kitchen did not provide that. I spent almost $75 including tip. The yellow rice is salty, the greens is salty and taste burnt, the potato salad looks and taste like someone dumped a whole container of mayonnaise no seasonin. oh let's not forget the green beans which is salty also. The sweet potato pie crust was darker than me. I f you ask who serves or sold burnt sweet potato pie??? Here. The lemonade cake is something new to me and now something I never want again. My first time there and my last. Ordered my food in store, waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes no notice of order ready, went in store inquired about my order, apparently it was never put in. Manager tried to make it right by offering free dessert if I waited while he prepared my order his self, so I waited another maybe 10 mins. Waste of time and money, the turkey wings were under cooked and the collard greens were so salty they were Inedible, fried fish was boarder line salty only edible dish was the Mac & cheese it was tasty. The baked macaroni was good, but the fried chicken was super dry, some of the chicken wasn't even edible. I'm not sure if it was old but I couldn't even separate the chicken. Ordered food for the first time, today. The food was horrible. Greens and cabbage was so salty. The fried fish was fried so hard , there was no meat inside. Oxtail dinner barely had any oxtails in it. Very skimpy & extremely expensive. Totally not worth the money. I regret buying and will never order from them again. Save your money!! read more

Hours say it's open until 8. We drove all the way from Newark arrived at 7:29 and was told kitchen is closed. Need to update your hours or disclose stop taking orders 30 mins prior to closing. I placed an online order for a specific time frame but my food wasn't ready for an additional half hour. I get it they're busy so I can understand that but, the love of confusion with there orders. None of the staff could figure out if orders were placed, if they're being prepared. There's no system to know what's being made or what's waiting for pick up. I want to patronize black owned business but they have to get it together if they want people to come back. Their saving grace is that the food is good. read more

Had an opportunity to visit and order some items. The customer service was fantastic! So many choices on the menu had a hard time selecting what I wanted to order. I like the diversity of the menu but very overwhelming. Totally aware of the cost and price of food so I know prices have to be priced accordingly. With that being said I was just disappointed with the portion size of the salmon stuffed with crabmeat for $25 yes $25 it was very small the size of half of iphone...not joking. The mac & cheese is on point! Sweet potatoes were over cooked more like mashed sweet potatoes. One thing that I noticed with all the meals is that they were HEAVILY seasoned. I tasted more seasoning than flavor of the food. Cornbread had a strong cinnamon base not really moist. Ordered the side dish of seafood salad or just tuna with one or two shrimp for five dollars. The potato salad tasted like a bag of sugar...it was EXTREMELY sweet. Cabbage was good if you like a lot of pepper. Ordered some chicken wings would just change the breading or oil. Ordered ice tea that tasted like it was from a mixed substance versus brewed tea with lemon from down south. This is truly my assessment and opinion of the place. My recommendations is cut back on the menu just do the basics soulfood entrées well. When I come to a soulfood Restaurant I'm not looking for eggrolls or fries however I truly appreciate innovation. Maybe offer some of these innovative items on special days or weekends. Actually I believe in this restaurant but they need to cut this menu down and cut back on the excessive use of seasoning! I will NEVER go back to this place again. This is definitely NOT soul food. For starters, the potato salad is just potato and mayonnaise, nothing else. The greens are just glory greens from a can, the cabbage was seasoned with Italian seasoning which is disgusting. The fried wings had zero flavor. On top of the lack of food quality, they have the nerve to charge an additional 3% to use a debit card, when other local restaurants do not, including mom and pops. Oh! And here's the best part: when I paid cash, they didn't give me back my cents change. WTH! So, I wonder how many customers have they ripped off doing that to? The mac n cheese was a little too salty. The baked turkey wings were ok but a little dry unless you put the gravy on it. Southern food does not have to be salty to taste good. If they lighten up on the salt I would give it 4 or 5 stars. So many seasonings add flavor. Its time to cook and eat a little healthier after such a horriffic 2020 and obesity , diabetis and HBP put people in a high risk catagory for covid. read more
