My friend wanted to go here. I agreed. She asked me if I wanted anything. I waited to see if anything had changed. She then got the BBQ chicken and fries for her and her son. Went for the first time last week for lunch before I went to the commissary at Dover AFB and can only talk about what I ordered, which was the Oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage. WOW...it was excellent! The meat on the oxtail pieces was tender, moist, and bursting with flavor. The sauce was incredibly delicious...so good over the rice and peas. The cabbage was also nicely seasoned. The only thing that would've made me happier was if the oxtail pieces were a little bigger or there were a few more pieces to go with the generous serving of rice and peas. If I had to mention a (minor) negative: my bottle of Ginger Beer had lost its carbonation. Had a nice flavor but did not have fizz. In any case, I am most definitely coming back. This is my first time visiting, place is clean, lots of menus posted. Ordered to go and took it back to my hotel room. Service was good, even got a free dessert as a first time customer! Oxtail was soo delicious!! Very tender and flavorful! Probably the best I've had in a while. Mac and cheese is okay, ate it with the gravy from the oxtail. Plantains were good too! I eat it as a dessert, as its a little sweet. I got too full to finish the beef patty and coco bread, but the patty was flaky with good flavor, and coco bread was soft. I ordered food from here on a Monday evening a little before they were expecting to close. We all know how that is usually when an establishment is at its worst. I ordered two large jerk chicken platters. The food was unreasonably fresh at nearly 9pm. The rice and peas and cabbage were perfect. Fresh rice just before closing y'all! The jerk chicken was the best I've had in a while. In fact, I was asked about the best Jamaican food in Dover the other day by an out of towner. He said keep in mind that I'm Jamaican. I said that it was hands down, Tropical Delight! After swinging by the place next door, I got in my car and drove away when it hit me that I forgot to ask for extra jerk sauce as I really like my stuff spicy! The young lady behind the counter immediately poured me some in a cup and enough for both platters. I asked how much and she said just enjoy your meal! Can't ask for better service than that! They also had karaoke in the back although I was way too tired to head back and check out the action. It definitely looked like a cozy good vibe type of gathering so I was very tempted to get one drink back there assuming there was a bar, but hunger and sleepiness got the best of me. Yesterday, I drove to this location to get an oxtail meal. Unfortunately, there was no meat in the meal. All they've given me was bones and fat. I knew immediately because the bag was extremely light. When I returned home, there was no oxtails in the meal. Just bones and fat and very little, at that. So they were even stingy with the fat and bones. Please when visiting this location DO NOT ORDER THE OXTAILS because they are very stingy and what they do give you is not meat. I ordered through Uber Eats when I noticed all of the charges, I cancelled immediately and noticed 2 days later, I was charged a $14.99 cancellation fee from the restaurant. It was impossible the restaurant had started working on the order because as soon as I clicked and noticed the amount, I canceled. That charge should not have gone through. RIP OFF!!! I am always up for some Caribbean food and so I decided to stop by after work. Inspite of the existing reviews, I wanted to give it a fair chance. As I am reviewing the menu, I start asking questions... this brings me to my next point. They need a fresh start as this place was just taken over 45 days ago by new management. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating. I thought the prices were a little high, but he told me about the daily specials at $6.50 with 2 sides. I really wanted jerk chicken and he had a deal that I didn't see on the menu... for under $10. It came with 2 sides...so I got the plantains and baked mac n cheese. Both were legit sides and I would highly recommend. The jerk chicken was really good but not as spicy as I would like, but I understand that they have to cater to the populous. I ended up getting the spicy beef patty for $2.25. I recommend eating it right away as the crust gets hard sitting in the container for 15 minutes. They have a separate room that he mentioned for the military folks to gather after hours w/ a bar, etc. I mentioned that the sign to the store was hard to see and he mentioned that he was planning on revamping the signs and making it more visible. This establishment was recommended to me and I wasn't disappointed. I got the brown stew chicken and a jerk shrimp and chicken special. Both dishes were excellent. How do I begin? - I research restaurants before I go in hopes that I'm able to find something good especially since there are not a lot of places in our area. Based on the reviews we willingly drove 30 minutes away from our home. I called ahead to ask if they had oxtails. We were told they were in the process of cooking the food that was at 3:14. We arrived at 4:08. Walked in very excited as we saw people waiting in line for their food. When we spoke the the lady taking orders we explained that we called ahead for the food and arrived within the time she said it would be done. 1 hour and 22 minutes later ( I watched two episodes of love it or list it watched countless people come and go In the pouring rain) and after 3 times to check and see if the food was ready. At last the food was done cooking. No apology, no offer of a free beef patty, not even a drink. I get home and expected to be "Delighted" in my tropical dish and the first thing we noticed was dry plantains. How do you mess that up?? The oxtails need to be cooked longer as I was unable to bite, pull or chew on the undercooked meat (that took me 2 hours to get) I like to support small business especially since we are in a time that many businesses are losing money. We even took a menu in hopes to reorder food in the future and share it with friends. When we called to talk to the manager to explain our frustration about the long wait and the fact that the food wasnt even cooked properly they laughed and said sorry we can offer you a free plate. Why would I want more of the same? Or even risk get your extra special sauce included with my next meal? Please save your money, go on pinterest, call a friend make your own food as it would come out faster and taste better then the food that is cooked here. The food is seasoned to perfection with large portions and moderate prices. Went in for the curry chicken. Price not to bad at $11.00 but it was a very large to go box that matched the portions. Came with a side of rice and cabbage. I've only ever had the jerk chicken and I think it's great. Right amount of spice. Sides are always decent. I think they need a better beverage selection.
