I stopped in and ordered pretzel bites. The bites were rock hard as if they had been out all day. Terrible and disappointing

Been here twice for the schnitzel! As a German myself, I've been to many German restaurants. Max's…read morehas their own style for traditional dishes and burgers. The ambience is modern with traditional photos and trinkets. I don't drink beer, but my dad was happy with their selection.

Great place! Have been coming here for some time but last meal inspired me to write this review…read more The place has a cute atmosphere and staff is always nice. Service, excellent, but the food. THE FOOD! Delicious! The Giant Oktoberfest style pretzel is soft, salty, doughy paired with their sweet mustard. An amazing starter! The cucumber salad leaves me wanting for more. Sweet, crisp, refreshing. So good. I love the flavor that comes of this simple salad is really delightful. The fact that the cucumbers, sliced thinly, manage to keep their crunch just only adds to how great this side dish is. Potato Pancakes seasoned perfectly with sour cream and applesauce packs a nice hearty bite. Kasespatzle, which is a take on a Spatzle "Mac" & Cheese topped with crunchy breadcrumbs is a homey comforting style side. Krautsalat, which is an acidic crunchy take on a coleslaw is a cool, refreshing side that cuts the heaviness of any other main entree. Rotkohl, red cabbage, is pretty good, though not my favorite. If I were a betting woman, I'd put my money on Zum Stammtisch' red cabbage. It's cooked down a bit more and sweeter. Max's is good but I'm missing that aspect of it. Their schnitzels and wursts and all the meaty goodness has never missed the mark here. A nice squeeze of lemon on their breaded Chicken schnitzel hits the spot every time. Definitely recommend. HIGHLY recommend. If I can ask for something to be added to the menu, I'd love a sauerbraten. That is my absolute fave German dish and I'm a bit disappointed it isn't offered here. That's my only downside. Still a fabulous place that you should definitely check out while in the area.
