    Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Nuggets
    Mariana G.

I am a huge fan of Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar pretzel nuggets. They bring back fond memories of years ago when my mom and I would share a cinnamon sugar pretzel on the drive home from the shopping mall. We'd walk past the Auntie Anne's on our way out of the mall, trying to exercise some self control, but the aroma of freshly baked soft pretzels was simply irresistible. I hadn't had Auntie Anne's pretzels in a couple of years, but I was happy to find they're as delicious as I remembered. They taste like they're fresh out of the oven. I like the pretzel nuggets in particular, since they're easier to share and easier to eat compared to a regular pretzel. This particular location is super tiny. It feels a little claustrophobic waiting in line, but the line moves fast.

Last week I went o the Outlet Mall in Round Rock and I went to the food court looking for Auntie Anne's Soft Pretzels, they were not to be found in the food court, so I had to ask where they were, well I had to walk all the way to the right of the food court all the way down the lane until I saw it on my right. I really wanted one now after all the hunting! I found it! It was a stand and order only place, now what did I want, no I did not want the pepperoni thingy, or the sour cream & onion one or the garlic one, nope no raisin or sesame or jalapeno one either. No dog wrapped of any kind, no stix or nuggets, why would anyone want pretzel nuggets? OK I settle for the standard salt pretzel, that's my style and also throw in one of them there lemon-aid drinks. Got it! Hey do you have yellow mustard I asked. Yeah, they do, I like yellow mustard on my pretzels. It smelled like pretzels inside, Duh! I paid and left, now to go sit on a mall bench in the shade and eat it and watch people. I liked my pretzel and the lemon-aid was OK as well. So if you are hankering for a soft pretzel this is a place for you. Would I go back? Sure sometime in the future.

Any beer connoisseur will understand the technique the demands and the workmanship that goes into creating draft beer and what I really love is I fell in love with the Hill country kolsch, it's a blend of a light beer so I prefer light beers like ultra or Miller so to me it taste like a more full flavored Miller light and what I really appreciate is that it's not like a heavy IPA so it allows me to free up space in my stomach so I can go for the killer pizza. Hands-down, one of the best cheese, breads, high-quality cheese crispy, crunchy cheese bread with what I really love are those crispy crunchy edges that are on the crust it's addictive. And then you're able to dip each cheese bread into that jalapeño ranch or that creamy queso. I'm telling you this right now their house made jalapeño ranch is like crack. They should bottle it and sell it if they decided to bottle it I would buy a bottle should I say I think it's better than Wingstop? Go try the pizzas as you can see. I ordered the works pizza we can see all the beautiful cuts of meats. All fresh meats, all beautifully individually, sliced fresh crunchy crust with melted cheese. Just a great bite. If you're a carnivore this is your pizza. I wanted to jazz things up and go for the honey bear pizza and I requested that they add white sauce as the base and then drizzle on top of the olive oil. I'm happy they made that pizza for me because you can taste the white sauce mixed with the olive oil and the nice salty shavings of prosciutto.

One stop shopping for primo eating and drinking good times…read more * * * Obsidian Brewery makes beer. I have no idea how the beer is. I may visit Obsidian Brewery time after time after time after time and never find out how their beer is. This is because a) They have an outstanding bar and b) They have an outstanding kitchen. For me, beer is a hardship beverage you drink when there is nothing else better available. When I go to a bar, I can sometimes be looking for mix-mastering. Usually I am looking for outstanding top of the line hard spirits. * * * When I walked into Obsidian, I looked at their bar. It was love at first sight. In front of me were twenty yards of three shelves of the most wonderful bottles I could possibly imagine. Half of them I had never heard of before. * * * I settled on a Buddha's Hand Gin. Buddha and Gin rarely appear in the same sentence Never mind the same label on a bottle. I ordered it straight up. I went immediately to Nirvana. Forget the meditation and the austerities. The Buddha's Hand Gin was as good as a trip to the Himalayas. Buddha's Hand is an obscure citrus fruit that grows multiple protuberances the way some horseradishes do. It is golden and looks like a hand. Ergo the name. The Buddha's Hand Gin is a citrus tinged gin with an edge more like orange zest than like orange juice. The additional botanicals make it strong, attention grabbing, fruity and yet combative. I was absolutely fascinated. Note that Buddha's Hand Gin is only one of the many items they have to explore there. I am totally ready to do more exploring. * * * The kitchen at Obsidian is also of distinction. The savvy local guide I came with adored his Thai Curry Wood Fired Rings. I went with a Cheesy Bread. This is open-faced grilled cheese on a thick slice of bread the size of a shoebox, with a wonderful homemade tomato sauce on about 1/3 of it. It is the best cheese pizza you have ever had. It is what cheese pizza is supposed to be if you don't use the standard canned ingredients that institutional providers sell to Domino's. I was as in love with my cheese bread as I was with my citrus gin. * * * The company was also outstanding. Which is just as well because Obsidian is a social place. Lots of Leanderthals having a fine time in couples and groups. This is not a loner's loser bar. You know - the dark rooms with misfits drinking their sixth beer while watching TV. This is a good folks good times full-of-sunlight place. So you definitely want to come with good folks. * * * Good food, good bottles, good people. And if you are feeling chipper, You can even have a homemade beer to celebrate.

We arrived on time to be greeted by two hostesses who looked too young to even be employed and more interested in flipping their hair than actually working. After about ten minutes, we were seated. First seating for a large family was a small booth, so we asked to be seated at a bigger table. Second seating in the back of the restaurant close to the bar and kitchen. Initially, our waitress seemed expedient and friendly. Took our drink and meal orders and brought drinks out quickly. First round of drinks were fine.. Appetizers were mozzarella sticks and spinach and artichoke dip. Entrees were a bacon cheeseburger, baby back ribs with a loaded baked potato and broccoli cheese soup, chicken parm, beef dip sandwich, and a 10 oz ribeye for me. Order made and we waited. While waited we watched for servers standby and talk about random cartoons; one server was loudly having a conversation, with himself; bartenders seemed disengaged at times from the patrons. But as the bar filled in they seemed to liven up. I mention the servers talking only as a reference to our food. One of the servers being our own. When our food finally came out, you could tell immediately that the food had been ready for a while. Second round of drinks were bad. Shirley temples were watered down, orange soda had an unfamiliar taste. That did not get drank. Main course came out after about 40 minutes. The bacon cheeseburger was acceptable, chicken parm, the noodles were overcooked, dried out and room temperature. They were so unacceptable that we had to send it back. The fresh noodles came out in less than ten minutes The baby back ribs were poorly cooked and bland. Baked potato looked unappealing, and the broccoli cheese soup tasted like velveeta cheese soup. The beef dip came out and Was barely warm and dry. The steak was fairly cooked well, albeit a bit chewy and overly fatty. Disregarding the servers discourse, our server wasn't overtly bad. And she was nice. But the service was eh. Food was ick. At least we were able to keep up with March madness.

Waited for our table for what seemed like 30+ minutes.. we didn't get a table until 745pm.. and only after we asked the front desk person a couple times.. we got to table and waited more. We didn't get to order and receive our food (Caesar salad) until 8pm.. kid ordered mini corn dogs+fruit, I ordered crispy Korean style chicken sandwich, and a Sante Fe Salad. The black cherry soda was out today also.. so we ordered 2 root beers instead. The food was just okay. They used to shave their parmesan cheese for the Caesar Salad.. but not anymore. Also the food took A LOOONG time to come out despite what we ordered.. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in that their slow service was caused by kids coming in for their prom dinner etcetc.. this time's experience wasn't the greatest...
