But I was already there, the coffee smelt good and I saw a matcha croissant (I love matcha) so I ordered to go. Maybe they were having an off day because I only saw one other review about the wait time... don't come here if you are in any sort of hurry. We were exited to take my niece to the 'unicorn place' and support a plant based shop. It was super cute and she was excited about the decor and unicorns. Came a little after 9am on a Friday, it was maybe half full, but it took about 40 minutes to get two lemon tofu toasts. I was patient until my niece was getting antsy, she finished her pastry, we both finished our mediocre coffees, still no toast... I checked and the Apple Pay time stamp went through more than 30 minutes prior. I asked staff if our toast was still coming and they replied rudely like I was being a jerk to even ask. Pagers for food when they went off were obnoxious beeping. Just give people a table number and carry it out to them. Maybe they have one little toaster and person in the back? That said once the food came, the tofu was DELICIOUS, and a large portion. We could have split it. Croissant was unimpressive as was their chocolate croissant. Macarons were tasty, but not with the signature chew that ones made with egg whites would have. $$ Two plain lattes, two lemon toasts, a chocolate croissant and 6 macarons with a $5 tip was $88. We had ordered the Italian Sandwich (horrible), Fromage omelette (even worse) the Mocha filled croissant (ok if you want a large hollowed out croissant with a overload of dis flavored cream) and the Dubai Chocolate tarte (now I know why we saw SO MANY left untouched it is hard as a rock). The gentleman working the register is beyond checked out so we spoke to the older female manager/chef about our completely inedible omelette and experience. I didn't go into detail like I am now but just simply asked why is everything so saturated in pesto and season so much. She said this is the food and how it's made. I've been coming to Unicorniverse for years, and I absolutely love this place. It's fully vegan, but the food and baked goods are accessible for non-vegans, as well. I believe they also have some vegan + gluten-free items! Just be sure to arrive before you get too hungry, because there's normally a long wait between ordering and receiving your food. 10/10 decor and interior design for sticking to a theme and following through. Ambience is there and they had lots of large croissants and vegan friendly items. The drinks themselves I feel are overpriced with a signature latte being around $7.50 -$9. It is a very pretty drink when fresh as you drink, they color somewhat resembles dirty paint water and loses its visual appeal and potentially stained lips. I prefer my lattes to be espresso forward and felt the syrups and milk took more of a lead. I think if you want a cozy place to sit down and have breakfast, the extra price may be meaningful. One of the bests desserts I have had in a long time is the Ube Blondie. Seriously, outstanding. Not too overwhelming with any flavor, equal parts frosting and cake. The Magic Matcha blends matcha with butterfly pea tea and created the perfect blend of earthy colors & flavors to balance the sweet dessert. The pastry case has stunning macarons of which I tried the Earl Grey and Coconut Espresso. Both had a surprise burst of flavor in the center. This place is so cute!! Although the prices can be high, I found that the portion size matched it. It's $7.50 for a huge croissant with filling inside. I got the chocolate hazelnut and it was like nutella inside but better. There are a lot of options - tea, pastries, cake, and even savory meal options. My friend ordered an omelette which was yummy and the cheese inside tasted like queso. I wasn't a fan of the olives though. Worker was nice and helped bring my order to the table when I had no hands. They have plenty of small tables, but it wasn't very busy when I came so it was quiet but not too quiet. They have really nice music - classical instrumental style that plays modern songs. The workers are all very friendly but it took a bit to get our drinks. We arrived at 10:00 am on a Sunday and there was no line and only about 3 other groups of customers seated but it took 20 minutes to get 2 cappuccinos. PRICING - The total was $14.07 after tax ($1.07) but before tip for 2 regular cappuccinos ($6.50 each). Even with a milk alternative and for a specialty coffee shop, this seems pretty expensive. CAPPUCCINO (9/10) - It was expensive but WOW was it delicious! It comes with oat milk since everything they serve is plant based. I am not vegan or dairy-free so the milk choice doesn't matter much to me but the overall flavor was amazing! I didn't add any flavoring or sweetener to it... it was perfect on it's own. Was overdue for another review update...the food here never disappoints. They recently posted on social media that they've been slow/need help for business, so we came out around noon on a Saturday and got a feast. Food was 10/10- I had the lemon pepper tofu toast and my husband had the smokey avocado toast. Only thing...it did take 45 minutes for it to come out and it wasn't all that crowded. And the employee working at the counter wasn't very kind. BUT usually their service is great so probably just a fluke. And then...please please try the Dubai chocolate cake. But I'm really glad I still gave it a chance because my experience was the complete opposite. The service was warm and welcoming, and everything we got both looked and tasted amazing. I had the veggie omelet with mushrooms and spinach, plus an ube muffin and a chai macaron -- and the fact that everything was fully plant-based made it even better. I'm not one to give out bad reviews if a place is decent, but I was pretty underwhelmed by my experience at Unicorniverse. I had it on my list to visit for a long time, and it always seemed overpriced to me from what it looked like online. As expected, the pastries are overpriced and from the look even through the pastry case, they did not look like they were going to be crisp and flaky and buttery like French pastries should be. I didn't even bother to get my typical pain au chocolat because for $6, I could have gotten a similar looking one from the grocery store. We got a pear tart, and it unfortunately had an underbaked and soft crust and much too sweet a filling. It's too bad because it had a lot of potential. The space is nice, lots of seating and all, but I was not a fan of the over the top flowers and decor - it felt a little much but maybe that's the vibe that they were going for! I came here as a solo daytime activity for my birthday and had a wonderful time. I ordered an afternoon tea and could see some jealous stares from other patrons bc of how good everything looked! Firstly, everything is vegan which is already a huge plus! I am vegetarian and often times, afternoon teas include small finger sandwiches that contain things that I can't eat so this was perfect for me. Secondly, this is probably the most reasonably priced afternoon tea in Austin. You get a ton of food for a fraction of the cost at some other places. Now on to my actual experience: the afternoon tea consists of one pot of tea and a three tiered platter with savory, semi savory, and sweet options. Overall, I enjoyed the food but some of it wasn't to my liking. I can be a picky eater with an aversion to vegan cheese which is why some of the options didn't tickle my fancy. The deserts however, were wonderful! I do wish that they also had some plain scones with a vegan clotted cream or jam. The bakery itself is GORGEOUS and totally instagram worthy (or just perfect for feeling like high royalty). They played a lot of classical instrumental versions of popular modern day music (think: bridgerton soundtrack). The staff was also incredibly sweet and helpful in picking out a tea. They seemed like they really enjoyed their jobs. I even encountered them conducting a job interview and one of the employees was talking about how they love coming in to work everyday. OMG....this place stole my heart! I live downtown and had no idea that this café even existed! I was out running errands in my workout clothes and when I walked through the door I immediately felt underdressed and I almost turned around, but then I realized that there was another lady working in the same attire that I had on. I put my shame aside and walked past the patrons dressed for afternoon tea and made a beeline for the counter. When I got over my embarrassment, I started to feel as if I was in a French café. The décor is so pretty, the pastries behind the glass counter looked almost too beautiful to eat and then my ears perked up when I realized that they were playing music from Bridgerton! Just completely ignores my presence. After all that. Finally asks what she can get me with absolute zero apology . I was not standing around for 2-3 minutes. We're talking almost 10 minutes and no apology? For the order I clearly asked for a warmed, plain crosissant. Did I get it? Take a guess. Was there an explanation given for why not? Of course not. Is it possible they don't have a way to or choose not to. Ok great, but explain that. The cherry on top, she did not securely close the lid on my latte. Was that intentional or just sloppy? This is not the first time I had condescending service. Around when they first opened an older lady was just as dismissive. $6.00 for plain croissant. $8.00 for small maybe 8 or 12 Oz Unicorn Classic Latte. This is one cool little bistro! I recently had a late lunch with a friend at Unicornverse. The restaurant is located a bit out of the way in a strip center that has a Gold's Gym. There's plenty of parking, as this was the former site of a large retailer. Ordering and payment are done at the counter and (for food requiring preparation vs bakery items) a pager is handed out. Some items are delivered to the table. The food and beverage menu is limited but the available choices of salads, sandwiches, and beverages looked really good. We chose a small quinoa bowl, avocado toast, a latte, and a mango lemonade. There were a couple of mistakes associated with ordering and delivering our beverages, but corrections were made. I was very pleased with my quinoa bowl. The veggies and crispy chickpeas were nicely presented and tasted great. The avocado toast looked really good. The decor at Unicornverse is interesting. There are fancy chandeliers and blue and white flowers draped everywhere, and virtually everything including dishes is a pretty shade of blue plus white. The seating is rather cramped, but the chairs were comfortable. Women on staff wear tiaras. This is a great place for a nice lunch, or for coffee or tea and dessert. In addition to the salad and sandwich offerings, the bakery and tea selections were extensive, and the quality of everything in the display case and served showed attention to detail. I brought my young daughters to this cafe for lunch and sweets. Giving it 3 stars (very generous) for the ambiance and magical atmosphere they've created. My girls loved the vibe and felt like princesses. The baristas tiaras are a nice touch to add to the experience. However this place gets 0 stars for food and drinks. I love this little bakery. It's aesthetic and I love the vibe. So beautiful in there! Depending on the day, it can get quite busy in there. I'm a huge tea lover and with the big coffee culture in these parts, I'm so happy to see a place that puts importance on tea as well. It's one of my fav places to go spoil myself. Food was inviting and plentiful I found myself worried that the pastries might not be as tasty as they looked because my experience in the past has been when something looks good. It doesn't always taste good. That's not the case here. We had a late lunch with a drink and pastry. I tried the quinoa bowl and she had an omelette. Both were super tasty, hot and fresh, and very satisfying. I ordered a side of croissant and I'm super glad I did. we both had the mango green tea. It was light refreshing and very good. We visited to celebrate my family member's birthday and thought this would be perfect due to the family member's dairy allergy. A summary of our experience is as follows: The person who took our order - seems to be an owner - was incredibly rude a number of times during our visit. Our order was short, when we checked on the status of the rest of our order as the rest of our families were mostly finished with their meals and hot drinks - all of which were cold - we were told that, "the only thing we were missing"'was one dish as if we were being unreasonable for inquiring. There were a host of other abnormal behaviors from this particular person as well. I would have addressed it in store but did not want to distract from the person that we were celebrating. This place would be nice, especially for those who are vegan, but the service we encountered was an absolute disappointment and we will not be returning. Ultimately, I would have much rather been told that we were not welcome in their restaurant at the start- as that is how this individual behaved ...repeatedly throughout our visit - and we would have been happy to leave. Sweet or savory, plain or filled -- when it comes to croissants, they're all delicious, all the time. That said, there's something special about a filled croissant. You can add that extra burst of flavor just by adding a little somin' somin'. Regardless of which filling you choose, it's likely it will be highly delicious. Blueberry and Oreo Cookie Croissants I elected to go with a blueberry filled croissant. The filling for this croissant was decadent, rich, and smooth. The blueberry flavorful was not heavy but light and melded into the fluffy croissant. Thing Two elected to get the oreo cookie croissant. Inside the oreo croissant was a creamy surprise: a dense cream studded with crushed oreos. To elevate the indulgence, the croissant was finished off with a decadent chocolate drizzle. With every bite of the oreo croissant, Thing Two was able to revel in the delightful contrast of cream, crunchy cookie pieces, and rich chocolate. Nice IG ready bakery , nice theme and nice music to add to the mix! I ordered the macaroons (amazing melt in the mouth kind) , a lemon mousse, matcha latte and a chai latte. Cool decor. Employees seem annoyed with customers. Waited 34 minutes for avocado toast. And still didn't get it. Cancelled it and left. Drinks are alright i guess. take forever as well. (20 minutes) I will say, their pastries are quite good. Can't knock them for those. The place was not like slammed busy or I would've had more patience. read more

Simply magical! The theming and decor inside is fabulous and so unique! Love the vegan menu! The strawberry and chocolate croissant was beautifully made, buttery, and so delicious. We also devoured the avocado toast. My latte had a very strong pistachio flavor that was not my cup of tea but it was still good and very beautiful. The one issue was that so many of the tables inside had not been cleared making it difficult to find a place to sit. Sitting at a dirty table was not so magical but definitely a sign of their popularity. Love this unique spot and really want to come back for afternoon tea one day. read more
