Definitely my go to place for carb loading while shopping at la Cantera. I love their original pretzel with salt. I usually get cream cheese to dip. Their lemonade is yummy too. That lemonade hits the spot on a hot Texas day. The lines are always long, but they are fast. If you would like to sit down to enjoy your pretzel, there's tables nearby.

We enjoyed some of their IPAs and began with grilled oysters which were delicious with quite the kick and their chilled cucumbers which were nice but would have been better if they were cut into smaller pieces as each piece was an entire spiral from the length of a cucumber - but they were still delicious! I got the snapper throats which is my absolute standout dish off their menu, my husband had the pork and my kids enjoyed the calamari and their pressure cooked chicken with biscuits - with their delicious house salad as a side as one is more than enough for 4! Perfect spot for Father's Day!

We walked thru the entire restaurant looking for the host stand (missed the main door) and it's so cool and historic inside, they have a long history there and are now Michelin rated. We sat outside, the little seating area is shaded. We started with drinks, i had the frozen pearlita which was so refreshing during the hot sticky weather. We also tried the seafood platter which was awesome. I had the snapper throat and crab Mac and cheese as my meal, it was so much food and so good. Such a bomb meal, had no room for dessert but would def come back

It is next to the Make Ready food hall and makes for a perfect 1 - 2 punch of activity. We arrived right at the tail end of Happy hour, so I order an Old Fashioned and found a spot at their outdoor patio. The patio is pet friendly and they do have live music. My drink was made well and made for a nice evening as the weather outside was nice and the live one-man band added some nice ambience. I can see why downtown residents would like to hang out in this area. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this laid-back icehouse and look forward to coming back to experience more.

The interior of Idle is very nicely designed with good branding and a great setting to hang out. It's spacious so it never feels overly crowded. We talked to one of the bartenders once who told us they are connected to Golden Gopher in LA, which we had been to in downtown LA. They always have sports on their large TVs. You can also order food from Make Ready food hall and eat there which is pretty amazing. They have some snacks you can order as well and once I went when they had a taco vendor as a pop up. So cute! Family friendly and they have a large outdoor space where kids can run around. They do have a cut off time when they become 21 and up. Parking is either on the street or a surface lot close by.

They have a great selection of Texas craft beers on tap and the staff were very accommodating letting me taste a couple until I found what I wanted. As you can see from my pictures the ambiance is fun and mixed with retro and modern decor. What a great place to hang out.

Though it does get buggy. Private lot with one way movement. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here the day before thanksgiving and surprisingly it was pretty full. Saw people drinking beers, eating pizza, overall a happy place type of vibe. They do share a space with 2-1 Dough pizza so you can order a pizza with your beer. We weren't that hungry so we only go the beer. I wanted to try a bunch of their flavors but surpringly they only had 3 beers that they make in house AND one was tapped out. The rest of the beers are from other local or national breweries. I got the beer flight to try a little bit of each. They were out of their Amber ale, but they had their stout and their hazy ipa. I subbed the other two for local san antonio beers. The hazy and stout was great and I'm definitely curious to try their amber when I'm back. THE FINAL BAMBOO: A beer flight set me back around $18. I wish they had more of their own beers here but overall a decent brew spot.
