Pan fried string beans with ground pork.
    Glenn L.

When this restaurant first opened, this place was a hidden gem, but the last few months, it took a huge giant step back, having issues after issues. Today, walking by, I noticed totally different workers inside. The restaurant itself looked different, cleaner, organized. Turns out the owner inside admitted to staffing problems. With a new team in place, he assured me of major improvements from this day going forward. With that said, let's put his, or my money were his mouth is!... wait, is that the saying? Lol. I guess the wife and I are having lunch here today, we'll see. After our meal today, I am happy to report, they are back to top form. The new cook that they got is legit. Our three dishes, salt & pepper pork chop, pan fried string beans & half a soy sauce chicken were all great tasting & bonus points for the semi large portions. Dining area was clean, still small with about 7 tables, but the star of this restaurant is the cook. Welcome back Auntie! Lol.

Little would l know there is a small gem tucked inside this plaza. My mom bought a pound of roast pork to try. It looks amazing and super crispy. Plus one doesn't have to wait so long like at Sam Woo. Will definitely have to come for the lunch specials too.

    Hainan chicken

I bought Hainan chicken and braised pork with preserved veg. =$45.50 this morning. Hoping the taste was good but it was not close to what expected. The chicken is so bland and smells bad like it is old chicken already. The braised pork also tastes old, not moist, I feel like throwing it back to them and asking for money back. NOT EVER GOING BACK!!! The flyer pictures look good but the Hainan chicken but a real chicken that we took home looks soooo bad and smell bad

BBQ items. They have a nice selection of pork.

This place lives up to its name. Let me explain: Eating here is truly like going to auntie's house. Family members are sitting at a table on their devices. Our orders were taken by an 8 year old kid, and he also brought our dishes out. At some point during our meal, the siblings sitting at the table began fighting, and ran towards the kitchen where mom was to snitch on each other. I mean, where else can you feel like you're at someone's house, while actually in a restaurant? The food: We went with a few familiar items. Chicken fried rice without any veggies or scallions. It wasn't bad. Not many pieces of chicken but flavor was good. Beef chow fun was also good. It didn't have that high heat wok taste we crave and some of the beef pieces were tough. Fish and black bean sauce with chili. I'm not sure where the chili's were because it wasn't at all hot, but the flavor was good. Roasted pork with ginger and scallions was our experimental dish, and wasn't what we expected. These are actual pieces from a whole roasted pork, with crispy pork skin stir fried. Some pieces of the pork were tender, some were just full of fat. The crispy skin were tough. I can imagine that's how chewing rawhide would be like. This dish is very heavy and hard to finish. With all the pros and cons of this restaurant, I still give them a 4 because it's undoubtedly a family run restaurant and I love supporting small businesses. Go support them. The prices are more than reasonable and the food isn't bad at all. Their BBQ items look really good. They're nice people and if you're lucky, you get to catch the siblings arguing.

Don't eat itBig mistake Cuihe Roasted Meat Food A shop I have collected for a long time I went there by myself today. The shop was very simple when I entered. There was only one auntie. She checked out, cooked and served the dishes by herself Avoid the mistakeI ordered the barbecued pork and Hainanese chicken rice. I ate in the restaurant It was served in a takeaway box and there was only a pitiful amount of Hainanese chicken, no barbecued pork I asked the auntie why there was no barbecued pork in the rice I ordered She said there was no barbecued pork I was convinced, why didn't you tell me when I ordered the meal The price was 13, only a few pieces of chicken, no taste, the dipping sauce was tasteless, and some vegetables When I checked out, I was charged 15 directly, and I didn't tell you that there was no dish I ordered Directly served me the wrong dish, very small portion, no water, no service

Auntie Kitchen is pretty solid, I would definitely say one of Baldwin Park's hidden gems for Chinese food. It's in the same plaza as the Subway, Starbucks, and Dollar Tree, so there's plenty of parking. There's actually three locations for Auntie Kitchen, one in BP, one in El Monte, and another in San Gabriel. This place is relatively small but with a good menu, good prices, and great portion size. It's family-owned, so you'll see the same family who will be helping you. My family and I like to order the Wonton Soup for $8.50 and Chow Mein for $10.99 with a choice of protein (e.g., shrimp, beef, bbq pork, or pork). They also have milk tea for $2.99. Overall, I would recommend it and I love that it is close to my place.

Great neighborhood deli! It is hidden in the DollarTree & Starbucks plaza. We ordered the wonton noodle soup, 2 items dry wonton noodles, salt & Pepper Shrimp, HK style riceroll, total tab was $40. I was extremely impressed with the Salt & Pepper shrimp ($14ish) it came with jumbo shrimp with heads on, perfect crispness, very generous portion compared to other sit-down restaurants; I think we got more than a dozen shrimp in the order. Mom's favorite was the roast duck in her dry noodle plater, it was seasoned just right, not too fatty, and very good quality! It is a family-owned restaurant, the owners were very friendly to all customers, a nice place to go for a health meal in BP!

I was in the area for a football game and wanted to get some Chinese food. Ordered the shrimp dish. I was surprised at how small it was. It weighed nothing and portion was so small. Never coming back.

The BBQ pork and wonton noodle soup was good. I would've liked it to have more soup since I enjoy my noodle soup soupy. Flavor of the soup could be better, but I added chili oil so it did the job. They do give you a loaded bowl though! I'd give it 3 1/2 stars for the BBQ pork and wonton noodle soup. I will be back to try other items on their menu.

Beef chow fun and yang chow fried rice. Huge portions.

Saw this place pop up on my feed a few weeks ago and I was in the area so I decided to try it out. I got the beef chow fun and yang chow fried rice. Beef chow fun was excellent. Nice wok flavor and the noodles were very flavorful. The fried rice was ok, a little bland, but pretty good if you add some chili sauce and eat it with the chow fun. Total came out to around $24 for the two dishes, but the portions are very generous and should be able to feed 2-4people easily. The owner was very friendly and I was the only one in there on a Tuesday at 11:30am, so I hope business isn't usually that slow for them. Give them a shot, lots of different stuff on the menu.

What's up: My aunt heard about this place having their grand opening and wanted to try it out. There's also an Auntie Kitchen located in El Monte and this was their second location. Parking: Located in the Gateway Center shopping mall, parking is shared among the nearby businesses. Parking was easy to find but there were some areas that were blocked off for outdoor dining. Environment: Masks are required to enter. The interior is small and had 8 tables. Restrooms are located towards the back of the building and clearly marked. Orders for BBQ meats can be made at the counter. Staff members were friendly and easygoing. We came for indoor dining and were seated immediately. Most customers came to place to go or BBQ orders. What was ordered: - Braised Duck with Bean Curd Skin (very flavorful) - Wonton and Beef Tripe Noodle Soup (flavorful) - Beef Chow Fun - dry style (yummy) - Egg Rice Noodle Roll (soft) - Yang Chow Fried Rice (yummy) - Prunella Vulgaris Drink (not too sweet, refreshing) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Overall, the food was pretty good. If you're the type that wants less salt and less oil in your food, this place does it really well. We made that request and the flavor did not suffer from it. The food is served in to go containers, so you'll be ready to go if you don't finish your meal. Credit cards are accepted.

However, if you want to try something a little different, there are some "traditional" Kaiping specialties that I haven't seen on menus anywhere else. I've always come with my family and have received great service because my dad knows the staff. They speak my home dialect so I'm sure there's some bias there. Foodwise, I've tried quite a bit and haven't had any dishes that didn't hit the mark for me. Standouts for me are the big claypot yellow eel rice, their specialty roast goose (the 2 dishes just listed may require a preorder but again, my dad usually handles all the ordering), their beansprout with pig intestine, and their egg plant with salted fish. The claypot rice is ordered by the kilo so really is a big party dish but has nice succulent pieces of eel, really well cooked rice, and then of course the crispy rice at the bottom. The goose is very flavorful and not super gamey, it has more of a meaty texture and bite than the younger poultry an American pallette may be used to so word of warning. I really like the beansprout with pig intestine, again not really gamey but very savory with very tender, fatty pieces of intestine (highly recommend even if you're hesitant with intestine). The eggplant with salted fish is also intensely savory with a pungency from the salted fish that may seem like a lot but melds really well with the sauce and overall flavor of the dish. Though I haven't tried every dish on their menu, I've tried quite a bit and can confidently say they'll bring out some tasty Chinese dishes.

It's one of our go to orders when we hit a Chinese restaurant. Sometimes it's a hit or miss...but I got to say it was a HIT! The noodles were separated and seasoned perfectly, coating each strand of noodles with their soy sauce mixture...and the beef was perfectly tenderized..NOT TOUGH AT ALL! Usually beef is tough in this type of noodle dish at other places. The flavors were legit..not too sweet or salty just right! It's really hard for me to find good Asian food in Baldwin Park so I was pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this place. Highly recommend. Our server was a Chinese lady..probably didn't speak much of English and didn't come across as friendly but to be honest that's how you know the food is going to slap when you have a waitress with the meanest RBF...so don't be alarmed just know food is going to smack! LOL It's located in a very random place but there's plenty of parking. It's pretty laid back but I would say can be good for large groups. It's not too loud or rowdy at all.

I think the intent is so you order fast and don't linger. Not a negative for me since my family usually is pretty quick about eating and going. They are also pretty good with customizing their ingredients. My wife is gluten free so we would ask that they not add in soy sauce or oyster sauce in some of the dishes that we know can still work without those two ingredients. You would need to know how to customize it yourself as I don't think they would know what to do if you simply say no gluten. Overall, I really don't have anything negative to say about this place. The kung pao chicken had a great savory flavor with just the right amount of kick and a good crunch from the peanuts, while the orange chicken had a really good, tangy sweet glaze to it. Just a heads-up if you like it super crunchy, their version is definitely on the softer, saucier side (which I prefer), but the flavor is spot on. The minced chicken lettuce wraps were fresh and super flavorful, and the egg drop soup was pure comfort in a bowl and came out piping hot. The absolute standout was definitely the deep fried fish fillet. The batter was super light and airy, and the fish inside was perfectly flaky and tender. We paired it all with the vegetable lo mein, which was loaded with veggies and the noodles weren't mushy at all, which is always a win.
