Been here on several occasions. Great hole in the wall to give you some solid Thai food. Usually come in weekdays to avoid the crowd. Service is great, the staff is very welcoming and inviting. Big menu so haven't tried all of it but the staples are great. Papaya salad, larb, pad Thai, and pad see ewe was great.

Great local Thai food, what else can I say. Prices are reasonable and competitive with other restaurants in the area, portion sizes are large, and everything tastes very fresh. They don't charge extra for side sauces like a lot of places do which is probably my biggest peeve so I'm really happy about that! The pad thai is so flavorful and the pad see ew has that "wok" taste to it that's so good. The papaya salad is SPICY so if you can't take the heat make sure you tell them. This is a go to place for weeknight take out dinner. Only complaint is the parking lot is a pain, it's always absolutely packed and hard to get a spot. Obviously not the restaurant's fault so I'm not rating lower, just a heads up for others.

I recently tried the Pad Thai here, and it was just okay. It wasn't bad by any means, but it felt pretty generic and didn't really stand out compared to other places I've been. The flavors were mild, and I didn't taste anything particularly unique or memorable about the dish. The portion size was decent, and everything seemed fresh, but I was hoping for a bit more depth and character in the flavor. Overall, it's an average option if you're in the area, but not something I'd specifically come back for if I'm craving a really standout Pad Thai. I did however try my boyfriend's garlic pepper chicken dish and I did enjoy that better than my pad Thai to the point he served me some on a separate plate. Staff is nice and welcoming!

Service is so friendly and fast. Food is good! The ragoons were my favorite 10/10 so close to my work so definitely will come again

Nice place. Was recommended by staff where I was working for the week. Fast service. I enjoyed what I ordered. I had yellow curry chicken (medium heat) and fried gyoza. Now, every place does heat differently and this place. . . boy a medium really had my nose running. . . cleaning out the sinuses..

We've been coming to Orchid Thai for a while now and it always hits the spot. Their panang curry is unique and one of our go to's because of the peanut twist. Customer service is always great leaving a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

A family-owned Thai restaurant near West Covina gave us a little surprise! They close at 9:30pm, which is great for me after shop. Everything we ordered was decent, but the Panang curry was definitely the highlight. The flavor was rich and delicious, and it paired perfectly with steamed rice. The staff were very nice and welcoming. One small suggestion would be to clean the floor more often when tables are cleared, as it would make the dining area feel even more comfortable. Overall, a pleasant Thai spot and a nice surprise in the area.

Just had dinner here with my bestie. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The small restaurant is very clean and as we walked in we smelled the fragrant aroma of stir fried meats and curry. Smelled amazingly. I meant to take pictures of the food before we ate it....it was so good. -I loved the beef pad see ew, beef was tender and noodles were soft and flavorful. -Thai sausage was new to me and it tastes good, similar taste to the Vietnamese grilled pork sausage. -fried calamari was super crunchy, I just wished the tempura they used was seasoned. -chicken yellow curry was delicious, my friend couldn't stop eating it. I also ordered a mango sticky rice to go. Overall, it's a good spot for some Thai food.

Service is quick. We were seated upon arrival and once we ordered, the food started to come out in minutes. Staff are sweet and they came to check on us several times. All of the food had very nice flavor and the spice levels were perfect for us. We enjoyed our dinner and would come again.

We went here for lunch today in search of the next great Thai spot and tantawan did not disappoint…read more Positives: -the food was great and they definitely brought the real spice. We got southern curry noodles, flaming drunken noodle at extra spicy, and Che Po. The curry noodles were good we got the flat noodles. Though my wife likes it more savory I like it more coconutty. The che po was okay, the rice was steeped in the sauce which was too much for my wife and some of the pork belly pieces were tough. The bbq pork and the duck was good though. Authentic Thai and Chinese fusion taste. The star of the show was the flaming drunken noodle. It's probably one of the best drunken noodles we've had. At extra spicy, it definitely brought the flame and the foavor in a big way. The portions and prices were great. We had to togo the drunken noodle and it got even better after we reheated it. -service was very friendly and quick -the restaurant is a good size, great for large parties. Negatives: None 5/5 overall We will definitely be back, we already have our eye on trying the pad Thai and the tom yum noodles. My wife wants to bring the spice down, but i want the smoke I want that extra spicy level again lol

Has this place gone through new ownership?…read more I used to frequent Tantawan Thai Cuisine at least once a week -- it was my go to Thai spots because it's nearby. I would always order the Thai boat noodles, Pad Kee Mao, or Pad Thai, and they were consistently flavorful, bold, and satisfying every time. These three dishes were on constant rotation. Lately though, something feels very different. The flavor and overall taste of the dishes have noticeably changed. The Thai boat noodles no longer have that rich, deep broth, the pad kee mao isn't as smoky and punchy, and the pad thai tastes flatter and not as saucey than it used to. The food just doesn't hit the same. On top of that, the employees were clearly new. Service has been noticeably slower, and they repeatedly ask the same questions multiple times when I phone in my order. I've always mentioned that I don't want liver in my Thai boat noodles and that I like my pad thai spicy -- and before, that was never an issue or a back and forth conversation. Now, I'm asked the same clarifying questions over and over, and I'm even told that they "don't make pad thai spicy," which was never the case before. It's honestly disappointing because this used to be such a reliable weekly staple for me. I'm not sure if there's been a change in ownership, staff, or recipes, but the consistency in both food and service just isn't there anymore. I really hope they can bring back the quality and experience that made me a regular in the first place.

Still Amazing After All These Years…read more I've been coming to this Thai spot for years, and it never disappoints. Fun fact my family was actually their very first customers when they opened years ago, and it's been awesome watching them grow while keeping the same quality and hospitality. The food is absolutely bomb every single time. On my last visit I ordered the chicken fried rice, Pad See Ew, and chicken Pad Thai, and everything was on point. The fried rice had great flavor and wasn't greasy, the Pad See Ew had perfectly cooked noodles with that smoky wok flavor, and the Pad Thai was balanced perfectly -- not too sweet, not too salty, just right. What really stands out though is the service. The staff remembered after not being here for years!! (Moved to Texas) They've always been friendly, welcoming, and appreciative of their customers. You can tell they genuinely care about the people who come in. It's one of those places that's consistent, authentic, and just hits the spot every time. If you're craving Thai food in the area, this place is a must. Highly recommend.

We ordered fresh rolls, yellow chicken curry, shrimp pad thai and mango sticky rice. Fresh rolls were okay, veggie heavy (which we like) , peanut sauce was decent. The curry had no flavor, kinda slimmy, which i thought was just me , until I poured some out and green moldy chicken . We decided not to eat the shrimp pad thai for safety. We opened the mango sticky rice and right away brown mango. I dug down and what looked good but nope, brown mango. Couldn't eat any of it. We want our money back. Never eating from this spot again. One star was for the jasmine rice. Honestly I had hope because it was the first item I opened, it was aromatic and fluffy, not mushy. Good job on the rice, let that one cook do the rest of the cooking.

This spot definitely ticks all the boxes for a local gem…read more Grown up in this area my whole life and always pass by it since it's in such a small plaza next to a pawn shop - but the food is anything but forgetful! My friends and I came on a Friday evening at 9pm and it was relatively empty with maybe 1 or 2 more small parties. Has all the Thai Classics you could want on a menu and then some. For 5 people, I think 4 dishes is the perfect amount but 5 if you're feeling pretty hungry. Beef Spicy Fried Rice (med spice): a staple and solid to go well with any of the entrees, though maybe smaller on the portion size Tom Yum: served in a heated tin pot - also a smaller portion size but flavor is great and not overboard with the sour for people who like milder Tom Yums Bbq Pork: served with a tangy sauce - great sharable dish Khao Soi: this was a table favorite - so much so we ordered seconds! Curry is plentiful so make sure to save some rice or get a separate bowl of white rice to really indulge. Served with a chicken drumstick that is fall off the bone tender and flavorful. And even you don't have rice the noodles are a great vehicle for the curry! Also spice is not a problem if you are hesitant because they can serve it to the side and you can adjust to your liking. Service was great - always attentive and they were very sweet even when we had such a great time chatting over the food food we stayed 20 mins over! (oops) gotta try if you're a local

This restaurant has a cozy, welcoming, and friendly ambiance. It's not too fancy, but it's pleasant enough for lunch or dinner. The dining area is moderately sized, not huge or upscale, but comfortable for most groups. I decided to try the Kung Pao chicken, the Chow Mein with vegetables, the Crispy Bomb, and the Hot & Spicy Fried Rice. Let's start with the Kung Pao chicken. Kung Pao chicken is generally a stir-fried dish made with chicken, zucchini, onion, bell peppers, peanuts, and sometimes spicy dried peppers. This restaurant has its own twist on the dish and uses a spicy roasted chili garlic soy base rather than the sweeter, more Americanized Chinese versions. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. Let's talk about the Chow Mein next. This restaurant allows you to order this dish with your choice of protein or just vegetables. I chose to order it with just vegetables. The noodles were perfectly cooked, but I found the dish a bit too salty for my taste. Next up is the Crispy Bomb. The Crispy Bomb is a mixed appetizer sampler that includes two egg rolls, two shrimp tempura, two cream cheese wontons, and three fried potstickers. This appetizer offers a generous and satisfying mix if you want a variety of crispy bites. It was the perfect way to start my meal. Last but not least, the Hot & Spicy Fried Rice. This was by far the star of the show. The rice is cooked with egg, chili, onion, bell peppers, and basil leaves for extra heat and Thai flair. I chose to add chicken to this dish. You are also allowed to choose a spice level, and I selected the second-highest level. This dish was savory with a noticeable heat from the chilies, aromatic from the basil leaves, and balanced with tender stir-fried rice and vegetables. I have been craving this dish again ever since I tried it. Now, let's talk about the service. This is where my final score takes a slight hit. My server seemed a bit moody at first, but she mellowed out toward the end. One major issue was that she was not attentive. Most of the times she checked in were when I was about to finish my meal. I also never got my drink refilled because of this. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, so I was surprised by the lack of attentiveness. Overall, this restaurant is a solid choice for authentic, tasty Thai food. I would like to give it another try in the near future, and I hope the service improves by then. It's a small shop with only about 4-5 tables, and there were tons of to-go and pickup orders while I was there, but I decided to dine in. What I ordered: Khao Soi - I saw this being advertised and had never tried it before, so I went for it. Super unique dish with a strong, creamy coconut flavor that wasn't overpowering at all. The noodles were great, and overall it was really comforting and delicious. Would 100% order again. (5/5) Pad See Ew (Shrimp) - A classic done well. Solid flavors, nothing too heavy, and very tasty overall. The shrimp were plump and fresh, which I appreciated. (4.5/5) I also asked about mango sticky rice, and they were honest and told me the mangos weren't fully ripe yet. I really appreciated that honesty. Instead, they gave me their complimentary cookies and cream ice cream, which ended up being really good too. There isn't much good Asian food in Azusa, so if you're living nearby, I'd definitely recommend this spot, it's one of the few reliable gems in the area. Summary: 5 stars for taste, portion, price, and service…read more *** My fiance and I visited a few times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is brightly lit inside and usually plays classy/cozy music overhead. Service is outstanding; they are typically prompt, proactive, and friendly with water refills on point. The owner occasionally checks in on tables, banters with regulars, and talks about his recipes. They sometimes provide complimentary desserts to first-time visitors (I assume if budget allows). Food also comes out quickly. DRINKS ORDERED - Thai Iced Tea ($4.50). Served in a huge glass, the Thai tea is strong, sweet, and creamy. APPETIZERS ORDERED - Sunshine Beef Jerky ($16.95). Sooo tasty! The beef was slightly crispy and dried out, yet soft inside. The marinade was aromatic with a hint of sourness. - Chicken Satay ($15.95 - 6 pcs). Soft and juicy white meat chicken with a mild marinade that was vaguely sweet and fragrant. The peanut dipping sauce was out of this world - very peanut forward and also a little sweet. I put it on everything and even asked for a to go container for the rest! I would have liked the pickled cucumber and onion to be less sweet. - Somtom / Green Papaya Salad ($11.96 + $5 shrimp add on). We asked for spicy level 2, which made my nose run. Green papaya, green beans, carrots, peanuts, and tomato sit on top of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce. The chili lime dressing tasted spicy, sweet, salty, and sour. The shrimp was also good, juicy and plump. I only had difficulty eating the green beans, which were hard and raw. - Chicken Larb ($16.95). This dish was served as a salad instead of a wrap. It had big pieces of ground chicken on top of iceberg lettuce in a flavorful, slightly funky sauce. We got this at level 2 spicy. ENTREES/NOODLES ORDERED - Basil Eggplant with chicken thigh ($14.95). Bright purple egg plant and bell peppers stir fried with fragrant basil in a savory sauce. So good! - Pad Kee Mao / Drunken Noodles with pork ($14.95). This was a stir fry of thick rice noodle, onion, bell pepper, basil, and protein of choice. The pork was yummy with a slightly sweet taste. I liked how the vegetables were tender yet crunchy. I ordered this at level 2 spicy, but I think I could handle level 3 for noodles. - Pad Thai with tofu ($14.95). I enjoyed the chewy, thin rice noodle tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. DESSERTS ORDERED - T-Cup Coconut Cream Cake ($6.99). We received this cake in a cup as a complimentary dessert. It tasted like a dream! There were two layers each of white cake and coconut whipped cream. The sponge had a light and cottony crumb. Shredded coconut added an extra layer of texture and coconut flavor. - Mango Sticky Rice ($13.95 - seasonal Apr to Sept). I think we ordered too early in the season, since the mango was ripe but not as fragrant. The sticky rice was sweet and salty with a fluffy and chewy texture. The dish was good, but a little dry for me since it didn't come with a sauce. - T-Cup Mango Pudding ($6.99). This was also complimentary. I thought it was just okay at first, but the pudding grew on me the more I ate it. The mango pudding tasted nostalgic, like the one you get at dim sum but more real. According to the owner, the pudding is vegan, naturally sweetened, and thickened with agar agar.
