Ordered a pizza for pick up. When picking the pizza up, we made a comment there was also a 2 liter. The girl stated sternly we did not order a 2 liter... i have my receipt from ordering online, I paid for a 2 liter! The pizza was not fresh and i doubt it was under a warmer. It was cold & dry with hardened cheese. When we called to speak to someone, the girl on the phone told us to call tomorrow. OK, so we asked what her name. She hesitated, so we told her it was to confirm we talked to someone after picking up our order. She paused, then she hung up. Called right back and no answer. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! We went on a Friday night and were immediately seated. The restaurant was clean, the service was prompt and the food was decent. For some reason, the pizza didn't have the "typical" Aurelios taste though. This was my first time at the Mokena location, but the Homewood is much better. Even the Tinley Park location has the "typical" Aurelios taste though. Not sure how to describe this pizza...it wasn't bad, just not what I expected given the other locations. read more

Having heard Aurelio's commercials during Chicago Blackhawks games, but having never been to one, I finally went in! I happened to be passing by the pizzeria, saw it out the car window, and knew I had to take the chance to try it. Kathy, the bartender and server, was so very professional, polite, and friendly. And by luck, I happen to have the opportunity to meet Jay, the owner, and I must say every bit the same about him. Aurelio's Pizza was everything you'd expect of an old-school neighborhood, family-style pizzeria. The decor was warm wood tones, comfortable, pleasing, lots of red, and tons of Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago White Sox memorabilia. The dining room was spotlessly clean, as was the men's bathroom. I ordered a personal size cheese pizza, just something to satisfy my urge to taste this famous Pizzeria, and something to fit my very modest budget. A little over $7 fit the bill, and the pizza filled my belly! The handmade crust had the perfect imperfect shape, wonderful colors, delicious and natural and fresh taste. The crust had the perfect balance of crunchiness, chewiness, and weight. The sauce and cheese on top matched, wonderful colors, incredible texture and a memorable, delicious taste, and not one drop of excess grease. It was so beautiful when it arrived on my plate that I didn't even want to eat it, but I had to! What a great experience in a great lunch! I will be back! I tried to order fried cheese ravioli, like it says on their web menu, they told me the fried ravioli only came with Jalapeños stuffed inside. I asked " it's only jalapeños inside? No cheese?" They told me "yes, no cheese". Make of that what you will. I tried to order an Italian sub sandwich with cheese, onions and tomatoes. I heard someone in the background yell at the girl on the phone "we can't add anything on the sub!" So she told me I couldn't ask for onions or tomatoes. As a solution I asked if they could just give me tomatoes and onions on the side, they had no problem with that, as long as it's not on the sandwich they said. When I got the sandwich it was an Italian beef (overcooked beef) smothered in steamed lettuce for some reason, and as I was digging through it I found a couple pieces of salami and ham inside. I have no idea what they were going for, but it was not the sandwich I ordered. Pizza I ordered was great though. I can't say I'm going to come back to this location though. We Go to Aurelio's twice a month This was a visit to the Mokena location tonight. Fiesta half cheese and half pepperoni. Sauce was perfect on it. But, Literally had 17 slices of pepperoni on it. Exactly one per slice. Precise but not very generous. The person in the pick up area was nice and efficient; they always are. Worst parking lot I've been to; been this way ever since we moved in over two decades ago. An upgrade from the years of gravel but the lighting and the lot still are sad. Petty? As a business owner or manager, you should start the self-assessment of your business from the outside and then move inside. This is our favorite pizza for the last 45 years of our family's life - grew up with Homewood , South Holland and now Frankfort and Mokena. Pick up the pizza , check it before you leave that it is to your standards and what you asked for and go home and enjoy it. read more

Placed an order online for pick up. Paid for it online. Went to pick it up, they ask for my credit card. Told them that it was already paid for. Their reply, "Oh yeah, my bad. (Chuckle, chuckle). Got two sub sandwiches; one on bread, one not. They don't give any eating utensils for the breadless sub. Forgot the sweet peppers, and only put 5 pieces, not whole, of Gardeniara on the other. When I went to get the sweet peppers, they asked if I wanted them in a container? What the hell? Am I supposed to carry them in my mouth? And who in the hell puts hot beef on a sub sandwich? Pizza was fine but it's so darn expensive. It was over $40 for ONE pizza. There are better options in town.

We love coming here on Thursdays for their Thirsty Thursday half price cocktails. Service is very good and the staff is very friendly. The food is generally good.The only thing I could be critical of is that they tend to under cook the pizzas a tad. If you like your pizza with the cheese a little more cooked on top, you might to tell the waitress to have it cooked slightly well done. read more

Pizza is just ok for the price. Asked for well done but they are in such a hurry to get rid of you it's hard to get it the way you want it. I used to go here all the time and always had a great experience. Now, they push you out the door as soon as possible because no one wants to work. The friends and families come in and the employees could care less about the customers who are actually paying their way because they're too busy with their friends. The hours are ridiculous and the server / bartender we had was RUDE RUDE RUDE! I deleted the app and will not ever go there again. I recently ordered a small pizza from this location and first off the female who answered the phone was off putting. Second when I got home I found out my pizza had tiny, pieces of meat. You needed a microscope to find the meat. It looked and tasted like a Little Ceasar's pizza. I have been going to the Homewood location for over 30 years (the pizza is ALWAYS PERFECT), but tried this one. Bad move. Don't come here, it just isn't worth it. Now I understand why this location received three stars. I've given Mokena multiple chances to redeem their poor quality products and tonight set the cap off to my continued disappointment. My spinach calbrese was delivered to me tonight with NO CHEESE. How could this happen? When you get any calbrese, It already includes sauce and mozzarella cheese. When I place the order and ask for a spinach calbrese, am I supposed to mention DO NOT FORGET CHEESE?? Also the quality of the actual thin crust pizza absolutely does not meet my expectations. I've grown up eating Aurelios and it has always been my treat to myself. My neighbor was Joe in Palos Heights so I absolutely have the highest expectations already set. Just got the Sausage and Hot Giardiniera pizza, I live about 50 minutes away from here but I think it's well worth the drive.

My first review of 2018 deserves to go to my favorite pizza in the entire world. Since we moved to California from Chicago, I miss this food the most. Almost as much as I miss my family ;) I grew up on this pizza and I feel like it still tastes the same. We were able to indulge in this pizza one cold winter night before Christmas. This location must be the worst gave them one more try to cut a pizza as a pie, not square cut or party cut. Ordered two pizzas both pie cut and they square cut one and the other pie. Told us they would remake and it would be another 20 minuets. They did n9t offer to re make the other pizza, it was going to sit there and wait, had to make a stink to get both re made. This is the second time this has happened. Yes both were rung in ad pie cut. Bad bad Aurilios. And was to be well done, first one was I guess, but the second one was not well done. Bad location. I grew up on the original Homewood Aurelio's; in fact, my very first job was being a pizza runner there back in 1985. So suffice it to say I know my Aurelio's pizza! Like many people from that area, I grew up and settled here in the Lincoln-Way area. I was over the moon with excitement when an Aurelio's opened just a stone's throw from my house. In the past it has been ok, but it seems like lately the food has gone downhill in a major way. First, there was a lawsuit filed against the owner of the Frankfort and Mokena franchises, for using unauthorized ingredients and selling frozen pizzas: http://triblocal.com/frankfort/2012/01/05/aurelios-pizza-and-frankfort-franchise-owner-settle-lawsuit/ It seems to me that they are taking shortcuts in other areas too, because their pizza lacks the quality one would expect from the Aurelio's name. The final straw for me was when I ordered my beloved spinach calabrese recently and it was made with the regular pizza sauce instead of Mama Aurelio's special marinara sauce that is supposed to be in the spinach calabrese (or "cal spin" as they are affectionately known). I guess from now on I'll have to make the trek to Homewood to get Aurelio's food made the way it is supposed to be made. It's a shame that this franchise doesn't care about upholding the standards of one of the best names in Chicago pizza. :( read more

My family and I attended the remodeling celebration at this location last night and it was great. The owner of the restaurant was in attendance as well as people from corporate and the local Chamber of Commerce. They had raffles for various items and a mystery coupon that revealed your discount at the end of the meal. I heard it ranged from 25-100% off the bill. We got 30% off, but also won a Pepsi hooded sweatshirt and a Coleman cooler. The staff could not have been nicer and the customers seemed to have great time. The food was perfect, we ordered two pizzas and a shareable dinner salad that could have fed 4 adults. I tried the new Sam Adams seasonal that was really good. I was surprised I normally don't like Sam Adams but this was really good. I think it was called "Good as Hellas"? The server we had was extremely nice. PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO TRY THIS PLACE! The old place was not memorable this place is a huge improvement. The remodeling was a big transformation from the old 1970 decor. These people are a joke. I ordered 2 large pizzas for which total was $80. After 10 minutes I get a call back thay they were out of crust. I tell them to cancel until I decide what I want. I call back to order and they tell me they are not taking any more orders. They don't even have pricing for their pizzas on their online menu so you don't know what you are paying. Never in my life did I run accross such horrible business. My advice is stay away. read more

I've only been at this location, before, to pick up some pizzas for a party we were having with some friends from church This was the first time I actually stepped into here and I was pleasantly surprised Being that every Monday and Tuesdays, Aurelio's has their all-you-can-eat dinner buffet, and I'm a pizza whore, I wanted to see if this one was different than the one in Frankfort and Lockport. Well, maybe it was because of the holidays, but the place was dead There was only me, Girl, a couple of our friends, and a few people on the other side of the restaurant...that was about it At the Frankfort store, around this time, on the same day of the week, the place would have been PACKED We did ask the waitress, Sharron (I believe) why that was so and she did say that that was abnormal...usually they're busy as well No matter, MORE FOOD FOR US!!! Most of the pies there were excellent...they even had an AH-MAZING cinnamon apple-pie pizza! There was one with onion and crushed tomatoes that I didn't care for...but that's my personal preference Anyway, the store is pretty old-school....not like the new stores with the gaudy 1920s - 1930s Chicago paraphernalia The walls are painted like an Italian grotto, with a bar area on the other side of the restaurant, and a place for pick-up orders on the side of the store Parking is a little crazy, with the main parking areas being almost right on a major road, but there is plenty of parking on the side, and at the VFW right next store...so that's not really an issue Once again, Aurelio's didn't fail to deliver...the pizza has been great no matter what location I've visited read more

I've grown up eating Aurelio's pizza and would have said that it is my favorite pizza in town, but the Mokena location had some problems when we ate their yesterday. First it took them 15-20 minutes to make tomato bread. As my boyfriend said, "how hard is it to put tomato and cheese on bread and warm it up?" Then the pizza came up and was too cheesy and not saucy enough.. The sauce is one of the reasons I like Aurelios so much. Finally, my boyfriend's combo sandwich came out smothered in red sauce (which they did not list on the menu), and the "house-made Italian sausage" was more like a sausage patty smooshed together from the sausage they use on the pizzas. They did take the combo off the bill, which is more than I can say for Fox's when we had a horribly atrocious appetizer...and they didn't seem to care less. I wish the pizza had been better, because at the price they charge, it should be the best in the area, and I just don't think it is anymore. read more

I really like the new design to the building. But I ended up ordering a pizza on a Friday an hour before closing and I picked it up. The pizza was cold and didn't taste fresh at all. My wife called the Mokena location because the new lenox store by us was closed. Jay the " manager" was rude and didn't believe New Lenox was closed even though their website said so. Jay your managerial skills are suspect at best and to be quite frank your bad at your job. Maybe think about selling vacuums or something else that sucks. read more

I love love love Aurelio's pizza, but I am going to review their buffet today. Boring. They had 4 pizzas out, pepperoni, sausage, cheese, and green pepper. The side dishes were Alfredo noodles, mosticolli(no meat), and both over cooked. Salad bar was decent, but not great. I didn't choose to eat the two soups. My kids loved the soft serve machine, but there were no toppings. We were charged $15.90 for two adults, drinks included. Not a bad deal, but for only enjoying the basic pizzas, it wasn't worth it. Our waiter was very nice and on top of everything. My mom and I agreed we probably won't be going back for the lunch buffet. Chicago Dough buffet in new lenox still takes the cake when it comes to great buffets in the suburbs. Sorry Aurelio's I expected better from you :( read more

We usually go to the Frankfort location which is more family friendly. Taking my 4-year old to the bathroom (through the take out area) was uncomfortable. The pizza take out staff was using foul language. Also, there was a private party so my family and I had to sit in the bar area. More foul language from a bar patron when my kids were with me (2 & 4 yrs old). Service was poor. Server didn't even offer to box up our leftover pizza like they do in frankfort. Before we sat down for service, I asked if they had an ice cream machine (like the one in Frankfort). The server said they did. Then, after our meal, the same server said the ice cream machine was not working. You can imagine my kids disappointment. We will not eat here again. We love the one in frankfort. The staff in Frankfort is friendly, ice cream machine works, no foul language and overall more family friendly. read more

I got an XL sausage for 25 bucks. It was pretty good. They browned the top slightly. Which I like. But the sauce is just a little to sweet for me. I don't know why they have to put so much sugar in it? Carry-out is the way to go here. read more
