Be careful before you sign any contracts with this company because once you put your name on that line and you attach your bank account they will hold you hostage and you can't get out of it the banks will not help you because you sign for it. They did an awesome job on our place. We can arm & disarm the alarm, see all the cameras and clips, do the locks and lights, answer the doorbell, plus there's a safety button that's like 911.... all from their alarm.com app. They programmed it to auto-disarm when we come home too. We signed our original contract in 2014. We failed to read the small print stating that the contract automatically renews every three years (our bad). In 2025 we received a call saying "they were in the area" and wanted to stop by to check the system. We said, "Okay." Stopping by to check the system turned into a surprise $800 + bill and a three renewal contract that cannot be canceled until 2028. We take responsibility for not reading the contract closer. My recommendation is that you look closely at their contract and the date you sign, knowing that you WILL NOT receive a 30-day notice every three years that will allow you to cancel. Our system was fine. We thought they we calling to be courteous, not so. It's an up charge visit and a sneak new 3 year contract with a 5% increase each year. We did refuse to pay the $800+, but we did pay $700 which started off at $300.00. read more

These guys are great! I had an old alarm through them with my landline telephone. I just upgraded it to a cellular connection and got an app on my cell phone to control it. They gave me a new alarm panel and a few extra contacts as well. Highly recommend. read more

We got our alarm for our house with these guys. They did a great job installing everything we wanted and putting it on the Alarm.com app. It's as fast as we had hoped for and their doorbell camera is better than the Ring camera we had at the front door. We had to sign a 3 year contract to have it monitored with them but apparently you do with everyone else we talked to as well. We pretty much went with them because they gave us all the sensors free and the doorbell camera and wireless lock and installed them free. The guy Jeff always answers the phone too. If I could give this company no stars I would. First off they don't monitor anything like stated on their contract. My wife and I moved into my mother in-laws house to help her out around the house in 2018. The alarm, if you want to call it that never worked from the day we moved in, alarm was off, no sensors never worked and the keep pad was malfunctioning. I've had alarms in all of my houses, and if for some reason they didn't communicate with the "Monitoring" company, you were contacted immediately. This company never notified anyone that the alarm wasn't working properly for many years. I called out ADT and they came out almost 2 years ago and installed an alarm that is actually monitoring, I've lost power and they've contacted me immediately. Second, when requesting to cancel service, this was never done. This Jeff Smith guy is for lack of better terms a con man. I wouldn't let him monitor my trash cans. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I wish I could give a review lower than this. This company has no heart and is only interested in profit, not people. I have been a loyal customer for 6 years. A few months after my spouse passed away from unforeseen circumstances I contacted Chuck, the owner, even though I thought that Jeff was the owner, but the person I spoke with said his name was Chuck, to cancel my contract. He informed me that the contract automatically renews for three years and it had just renewed January 19, 2020. I had missed the cancel date by 2 months (today is March 26,2020), and for good reason. He refused to budge and let me out of the contract. He refused to share information about who his supposed investors were and he claimed there was no one else for me to talk to as he is the owner, which means he has the authority to cancel the contract and yet made the decision himself to not. A security company should be about making people feel secure and that they matter. All that matters to Chuck is making money. NOT once during the last 6 years was I contacted about my system nor was I ever sent a notice of renewal. DO NOT GET YOURSELF STUCK WITH THIS COMPANY NO MATTER HOW MUCH JEFF MAKES YOU FEEL AND BELIEVE THEY ARE ABOUT MAKING YOU SAFE!!! THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT BUSNISS. Jeff Smith is hands-down the most knowledgeable, accessible, and honest person in the alarm industry. When Jeff came over to install my alarm, He took the time to make sure I truly understood how to use my system so that I could keep myself and my girlfriend safe. His pricing is fair and, though he's not the cheapest, he's worth every penny. Whenever I have a question, I call and Jeff answers. I can't describe how refreshing it is to be able to get the owner of the company on the phone versus calling an 800 number and talking to a secretary. In 2008 Jeff setup our security system, what impressed me more than anything else is anytime we had a question or service issue the response was immediate. I wish the cable and internet companies were like this! We just moved to south Florida. Based on the level of exemplary service that we have received the last 5 years, we had Jeff fly in to supervise the installation of our new security system. Because we travel a lot security is paramount. Our new system has a free app where I can do everything from anywhere in the world. If I want I can check in via video to make sure everything is secured no problem. Jeff uninstalled the cheap security system that our builder installed and personally found us a local dealer to install an updated wireless system that handles our specific needs. We appreciate Jeff taking the time to help us. We will miss him! Customer service is a dying art in most business but not with Jeff at Aurora Security! read more

Most of these reviews are from 2014, the same year I signed with Aurora. I already had the system with Jeff's former company and that contract had expired. But Jeff phoned to say I had a free 3 year service visit coming. I said I did not want to continue with the company but he said he would perform the service anyway. When he came out he was very persistent and hard sell. What sold me was the inclusion of a monitored smoke detector and Jeff saying that if I was dissatisfied at any time he would let me out of the contract. I stupidly believed him and did not make sure to get that in writing. He did explain every last, minute detail, but I was never offered an upgraded system. He installed the smoke detector at the farthest end of the house, at least 40' from the oven and range and much farther than that from the water heater. I was skeptical of the location but he assured me that the detector would pick up anything in the house. The first time someone burned something in the kitchen and filled it with smoke the alarm did absolutely nothing. Our first false alarm was caused by a humidifier (just humidity, no smoke or fire) in an adjacent bedroom. It was a nightmare - when the company called to see if there was a problem it was nearly impossible to hear them because the alarm was sounding through the phone. We eventually had to call them back on a cell phone. Each time we turned the alarm off it came back a few minutes later, and of course this was at 3 am. There was another issue when we switched our phone service to internet based. The technician spoke to Jeff before I agreed to make the change and Jeff said it was compatible. Since then we occasionally pick up the phone to make a call and get a message to check the phone line, or we hear a voice say, "The system is working". Sometimes a caller will say they couldn't get through but heard that same thing. Needless to say, I am not satisfied with the system. When I called to complain Dina was very cordial. She said my system is actually not compatible with the internet. She said she didn't know why I hadn't been upgraded but would have to talk to Jeff. She called me back with an offer to upgrade my system for free but raise my monthly fee. I said that I did not want to extend my contract under any circumstances but she didn't know how an upgrade would affect the contract. She said she would talk to Jeff and get back to me. That was last week and I have not heard back at all. I only gave a two because Dina tried to be helpful and Jeff was extremely thorough in explaining the system. But I would not recommend Aurora. read more

The monitoring center and the customer service line has a live human being that answers the phone 24 hours a day which is amazing. Jeff really knows his stuff! He switched us over from our old alarm that ran on our phone line to a new system that the burglar can't cut the phone line. It has it's own cell phone inside the the alarm and saved me money. He was very accommodating to my busy schedule when it came to consultation and install, and returned later to further trick out my house.
