Giving Nick 100/10!…read more After interviewing several different dog training facilities and trainers, we are so happy we chose Nick at Full Spectrum. From the very beginning, he was incredibly informative about the training process and what it would take to help our 8 month golden retriever pup to stop pulling on the leash, stop jumping on people, and develop both formal and informal recall. What stood out most was how much he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with. He never made unrealistic promises and was very honest about what we could expect throughout the training journey. That level of transparency gave us a lot of confidence and trust in the process. I also really appreciated that he let us take our pup home on weekends during training to help with a smoother transition back into our home environment. Each handoff included a training session where he walked us through what to work on while she was with us, which made us feel involved and set us up for success. Nick was also incredibly accommodating when our pup unexpectedly went into heat right in the middle of her training! He let us keep her for a week in the middle of training but offered to meet up in the middle to make sure she was still progressing at no charge! We couldn't be happier with our experience and highly recommend Nick and Full Spectrum to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and effective trainer!!

Our Doberman just finished his puppy immersion programme and is already more calm, less reactive and has impulse control. We went for our first long walk down by the lake yesterday and she walked in the heel position every time, followed every command and stayed tuned in. We have built a stronger bond with our pup because of the training with Nick and cannot wait to see how far she can go. She loves having a job to do, and now we know what we can redirect her to. Nick trains you just as much as he trains your dog so that everything becomes easy and you feel confident keeping the training going. We plan to do his adult programmes when Sass is a bit older and ready for them. Cannot recommend him enough!

Fortunatley he healed well after two weeks of dedicated TLC but the trauma of the experience remained with both him and me well after Ryder physically healed. I reached out to Matt for virtual dog training appointments to help us through that, and his guidance and great wisdom around dog psychology and behavior and deep empathy for Ryder and in general made such a huge impact. I learned from Matt how to help Ryder through his fear and trauma and how to recognize when he was experiencing trauma (for example, he developed a new and strong fear of rumbling engines). By applying Matt's empathetic practices, Ryder has become much less fearful, is no longer afraid of rumbling engines or playing with other dogs and he's back to his old happy, playful, super enthusiastic and friendly self!! :) Matt also greatly helped my dog Ellie through the excessive anxiety that resulted from my marital separation and helped us learn what an impact the breaking of that social bond had on her and how to address it! We now give her the extra attention she needs when doing hand offs to switch between homes. Thank you so much, Matt working with you has made a WORLD of difference in Ryder and Ellie's quality of life!! :)

I was unable to fly with him over the Christmas break, so I made sure to reserve him a spot to board. In prep, I dropped him off for day camp so I could get a feel for the place and he could get used to the staff and the smells. After the day camps and whenever I checked in during his week stay, I wanted to know how he was doing. He's a puppy, so the way he's socializing and his schedule for feeding and potty times are super important to me. Every time I asked, it was so vague. "He's doing great!", but no one seemed to know anything specific until I really pressed for information. And I heard different information from each staff member. My real issue is here: When we picked him up from a week stay, the owner/groomer met us outside to talk about his health. She claimed to be a vet tech for many years, and was concerned about his weight. She made us feel guilty about his grooming and how skinny he was (again, he's a large breed puppy) and recommended adding tuna to his diet. We felt so awful that we immediately took her advice. DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG TUNA. it's filled with mercury. After less than two cans, my dog now has an infection and constant diarrhea almost two weeks later. He picked up an infection (either from the tuna or the place) and is now on antibiotics. Now, I should have absolutely done my research as a "parent." But to claim to be a medical professional and guilt us into making incredibly unhealthy choices for our puppy, makes me so angry and upset. We won't be going back.

I still regret it a few years later. She was being buzzed for behaviors she didn't understand. It was punishment rather than training. The trainers drank the kool-aid and are inexperienced, The group classes were an absolute mess. Owners were confused and just zapped away without proper training and guidance, I pulled my dog out immediately. If you truly love your dog, and want to learn proper communication, consider positive reinforcement. The only situation I 'maybe' consider this is a pup with aggressive behavior. Otherwise, I would NEVER recommend this type of training. NEVER.

The owner does need to be diligent with taking their dog to the trainings (we kind of fell off at the end but it was okay) but as long as you stick with it, your dog will learn new skills and will be better behaved than before. We can literally walk our dog without a leash now, I never thought that would be possible. She will sit in her place when people come over and we are always getting compliments on how good she is. We can do things in the front yard and have her stay in the garage and she won't run after other dogs that walk by or other other people or children. She has learned to stay in her place for as long as we need her to be. It's funny because she was a really wild dog before and now that she's trained everybody loves her. overall the training here was worth it and we are really happy that we did it!

I am a plant lover and the room is filled with everything from pothos to monsteras. I did give the pothos by the tv a little drink; it was thirsty. Dr. Lawton is knowledgeable and thorough. She answered all of my questions and left me feeling like Roxie was in great hands. We have a plan moving forward and that puts me at ease. Roxie is 15 and overall very healthy. They even found a gap in the leptospirosis vaccine that Roxie has been getting forever. We were very happy to have been cared for and by Dr. Bonnet and Dr. Dillon and their staff as they were always professional, honest, and sincere. Technicians were so thorough and communicative on every step they needed to take with our pet and her care. They were so kind to us at such precious moments and decisions. The transparency of cost and the estimated time for medicine/pickup that was communicated to us at the get was spot on. We had no delays or disappointments in the meticulous care Dr. Bonnet provided. Having a 20-year old senior cat can present challenges (besides her being a spicy/mean cat) and added stress for vet visits. Dr. Bonnet really cared for us and provided professional and honest opinions in determining care for Maybea. Scheduling appointments via the app and/or calling in to speak with staff was always friendly and kind. The waiting rooms and exam rooms were very welcoming for us and our cat when we came to visit for appointments. Parking is super easy and they have about 6 parking spots that are dedicated to any pet family coming in which we appreciated. Now as our kitty has passed on my partner and I promised each other that we will no doubt make Firehouse Westlake our center point for care with our next and new pet. Thank you to the entire pleasant, kind, and caring staff at Firehouse Westlake. We truly appreciate your kindness at one of the most challenging and difficult times in our lives around our pet's health. Thank you!

I have seen such a difference in Nova and her behavior even just after the first week, it's like two completely different dogs. He is a very intelligent dog and generally very obedient unless there is a stranger or another dog nearby, in which case he would become completely uncontrollable. We had paid many positive reinforcement oriented trainers to help us out when he was younger and less aggressive, which helped establish the obedience but did little to curb the impulse control and aggression. He was manageable for the first 5 years or so, but as we had kids and they got older we prioritized working with him less and less and he regressed into a very bad state. Up until about 6 months ago the aggressive behavior had never been targeted towards our family, however we had an incident where he gave my son a warning bit on the hand. My son had reached out to grab his collar to try to bring him inside and he didn't want to go. The bite was definitely a warning and not intended to do damage, but still left a rather deep puncture wound and an even deeper relationship damage between the kids, my wife, and the dog. Our vet recommended euthanasia. We contacted numerous trainers who were either unwilling or incapable of working with him due to his age and the bite incident. We finally happened upon Daniel who was provided to us as a reference from one of the trainers who said no. Daniel was the breath of fresh air that we needed. After a brief consultation, he very calmly and clearly explained the root cause driving Tore's behavior, much of which was frankly on us, which we expected. He felt confident Tore could be rehabilitated and that he could teach us how to manage him long term. Daniel accepted Tore into his 6-week board & train program where he takes the dog M-F, gives him back for the weekend, then starts again on Monday. Throughout the program Daniel provided updates on progress and was always available for questions. While this was not an overnight magic wand, we noticed an immediate and significant difference from that very first weekend that Tore was back in the house. We are now wrapping up week 7, the first week after conclusion of the program, and Tore's presence in this house is a night and day difference. There are still hiccups (he is 8 after all), we've had the growling incidents when he doesn't want to comply, and he still gets worked up at strangers and expresses anxiety in certain situations, but the key is that it is now manageable, and we can get it to stop without having to throw him in a different room. Further, it gets more quickly managed with each passing day and incident where Tore is put to the test. Do not get me wrong, Daniel will not help you if you are not willing to put in the work, and it is a lot of work. Full Stop. But I firmly believe that this man can rehabilitate any dog if the owner holds themselves accountable to the structure of the program. I appreciated Daniel's communication style, once I opened the door for it our conversations took on a more casual tone that I enjoyed. I felt and continue to feel that Daniel truly cares about Tore and has a passion for what he does. He provided quite a few add-on services that most would have charged for and he didn't. For example, he helped us manage Tore for a vet visit to take a look at a potential leg injury (in-office vet visits were something I frankly didn't think would ever be possible for this dog). He also offers boarding services at a very reasonable rate for his clients which is a huge win for us (he's boarding Tore for us this weekend so we can go see family for Thanksgiving). Highly recommend Daniel's services...and bonus - you're supporting a veteran owned business if you hire him.
