I called Jim at Austex moving to schedule a move from my rental house into my new home a few miles away. I saw their ad in an email and the price was very compelling so I decided to take a chance. I previously had mixed experience with the reliability and quality of movers. This was certainly not the case with Austex. They showed up precisely as scheduled, and were extremely courteous, with "yes sirs" and a military-like precision to emptying the rooms, wrapping the items and packing the truck. They took great care even moving heavy items like my king bed and frame up the stairs. At the end of the move not a single scratch was found. These guys were amazing. They came out with only a day or 2 notice & the contract was for 3 guys but they actually had 4 come, so they were done very quickly. We had a property owner moving our that needed several items moved to storage so that our make ready crew could get the property ready for the leasing market. These guys are top notch. This was my third move in Austin and none of the other movers compared to these guys. They showed up on time for my Saturday morning move. I had arranged for three movers and they sent a fourth at no extra cost. The guys worked quickly, but carefully, loading up a 3 bedroom/2 bath house + a garage in right under 1.5 hours. 4 mile drive to the new house and we were unloaded quickly. 3 hours total. No damage to either my furniture or my walls in the new house. I will recommend Austex Moving to anyone that needs a mover in this area in the future. read more

The owner returned my text with availability & a quote immediately the day I text l. The crew , 3 men plus another overseeing them, showed up on time & completed the move. Today we moved from an apartment to a townhome in the Austin area. The owner Jim was very flexible when our closing got pushed back. He made sure that he and his crew arrived even though it was several hours after the original scheduled time. The 4 guys didn't waste any time and were very hard workers and didn't damage a single item from what I've found so far. We moved into a new home with a tight stairway with a landing and there was only one smudge on the walls,which I thought was impressive. I would highly recommend them to anybody moving and the price was comparable to all other quotes. I read the other review for Austex, but I have to disagree. I used them as the Austin part of a two city move less than a week ago and they were great.. Clark Moving in Lafayette moved us out of our old house, and Austex moved us into the new one. Brent, Nick and Jose were the Austex movers and I have to say, they did an outstanding job. Very professional and efficient. It was obvious from the start that These guys are professional movers, not just unskilled labor. They took the time to decide the best way to get our furniture into different rooms without damaging either the room or the furniture, They kept boxes together by room, and they assembled several pieces for us after everything was moved in. The bill was agreed upon in advance, and then never mentioned again. They were courteous and professional the entire time. During the move I mentioned the bad Yelp review and they said there has been a major retooling of the company and regaining their reputation is a priority. We'll only be in this house for a year before we move again, and I absolutely will use Austex again for the next one based on this experience. read more

We had a 1 bed 1 bath 804 sq foot apartment we needed moved. They're pricing was absolutely the best in town at the time. Jim was courteous and professional. We had a huge chance of rain move in day so he and his crew skipped lunch and were flexible enough to come in an hour early at my request! They were so efficient and fast! A review for Austex Moving was posted under the name of Liz A. from La Jolla, CA. That was posted in error. La Jolla is a part of San Diego, so a person from San Diego seeking a local mover in the Austin area is not likely. My name is Steve A. and I posted the original complaint on Yelp. I used to live in San Diego and I know who Liz is and somehow when I posted the complaint and logged into YELP it brought up Liz for some reason. That aside, Jim Clark, the owner of Austex Moving called me the very next morning after I posted the YELP review. He was very gracious and apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to immediately refund the disputed $375 and even personally deliver it to my home. It was a miscommunication, but Jim and Austex responded immediately and resolved the issue. I completely retract any negative comments I made about Austex Moving and in fact, would highly recommend them. Other than the miscommunication on the terms, the movers were very professional and did a great job. If I were moving tomorrow, I would not hesitate to call Austex Moving FIRST. I am positive that the issue that we had will never occur again. GREAT MOVERS! If I could give them zero stars, I would. They showed up on time and then started loading up the trailer with all the boxes and small things they could find. Now, I'm not an expert on moving, but I have done it enough to know that you usually start with the larger things, couch, beds, ect. Because they didn't do this, they barely had room to fit my sofas on the trailer. As it was slowly (and I do mean painfully slow) began to fill, my husband repeatedly asked if they would be able to fit everything in and was assured that they would. When it was finally filled, they could not fit about a quarter of our belongings onto the trailer. It took us six carloads to finally get the rest of it. I was not aware that I would also have to pay for the time it took them to get lunch before meeting us at the new place. We had a very set budget and only expected the move to take about 4-5 hours. Seven hours later we were out of money and just wanted them to move as quickly as possible, so we told them to only bring the big pieces of furniture in, and unload the rest into the garage. It was only when we started unpacking that we realized how badly they had treated our things. The back of my leather sofa was torn, boxes of dishes broken, other breakables, clearly labeled were squished under other very heavy objects. I over paid for less than substandard service and then had to finish the job ourselves. This was the worst moving experience I have ever had. I would never recommend them to any one. read more
