I came here because I was told they accepted my healthcare insurance United Concordia. This was the first dentist office i visited after moving here from California from having an amazing dentist in San Diego and an impeccable dental record. Everyone was super nice at this location, even went as far as explaining everything being done in great detail. However, during the teeth cleaning, the dental hygienist miraculously found 4 fillings that needed to be replaced and instead of getting a second opinion I just went with it. Little did I know they were going to charge me for options OUTSIDE of my network. After the procedure was done, they billed me up front before going through insurance. The bill for 4 fillings was $2,000.00 out of pocket!! They assured me that the cost would be lowered after it went through insurance but because they specifically chose dental options outside of my network I only got $69 back. So $2,000.00 for 4 fillings. This is outrageous and I definitely will not be coming back to Austin Artistic. You hear all the time about dentistry businesses taking advantage of their customers and I definitely feel like that was done with me. I wish I had gone out to get a second opinion, because as mentioned, I have great teeth and my last dentist in SoCal agreed. Please think twice before coming to this shady business, unless you're cool with forking out 2K out of pocket for small (possibly unnecessary) procedures. read more

Do not go to this dental practice. They only care about how much money they can make from you. They don't listen or care about the individual patient. They tried to force me to get a crown on a tooth. Had to endure four or five pressure talks. When I said no for the fifth time, they refused to give me a permanent filling in the tooth and just asked me to leave. Very unprofessional. Well all I can say I did miss my appointment. My appointment was made about four weeks out. I called a week before because I didn't see your email and I had forgotten the date. The day before the appointment I had a family emergency and simply forgot until about 4 o'clock and my appointment was 11 o'clock. When I called at four I told him I was sorry and I really needed the appointment. The doctor said we don't me schedule people fitness the first appointment. I had not seen any paperwork reflecting that. I told him I really needed the appointment but he was very cold and said that's our policy no. So all I can say is it was a very cold reception. And I didn't know that any business could have a policy like that. I saw I just can't believe they've never rescheduled. read more

After years of not going to the dentist, I finally had to go in because of a tooth incident. I was extremely nervous, but Austin Artistic Dental was extremely accommodating and focused on how I felt before working on my teeth. I am so very pleased with Artistic Dental. The first time I ever went in they took great care of me making sure I had antibiotics for a cavity and abscess. I scheduled an appointment based on yelp reviews. I am disappointed. It is hilarious to read they got Aleathea (she only has one review) in to fix her tooth before her Europe vacation. They would not fit me in and I am in pain! I needed a crown. The time between getting a temp crown and the porcelain crown, I informed the dental assistant that I was in pain. She didn't communicate or record our conversation because when Dr. Hulse put in the porcelain crown temporarily, he scolded me for not calling about the pain. I informed him that I called and his assistant didn't record it. It's been two months and he can not fit me in until the second week of June to put in the crown permanently. I learned that my dental insurance has a contract rate with this practice. Dr. Hulse charged me $500 over the contract rate for a crown. I paid for the service and Dr. Hulse still has not completed the service! Unacceptable! read more

Read the reviews and had been excited about talking with their dentist, but I have not actually been a patient. Things were a little crazy last year and I had to cancel my appointment 2x. I do recall this was 'late', and completely understand if they needed to charge me for not doing this in a timely fashion. Life happens and I would be willing to be held accountable for it (even if it was out of my control). Business needs to continue, and a charge sucks, but I would pay it. Unfortunately, the office staff stated they are not allowed to get me rescheduled in the future... ever. Other good options in the area, but it's disappointing to see that you have someone with cash, willing to pay for having to reschedule late... and they don't want it. I was going to wait for the office manager to call me back, but honestly, it's not worth arguing. If they want a fee, they have my number and can call me to collect a payment, that's totally fair. I'm STILL willing to give you money. Not sure I could even bring myself to reschedule even if BY CHANCE someone decided to be a human and 'forgive' the fact that I had other important things come up. I understand that their time is equally important, hence my willingness to pay a fee. My only advice is (if they read this) would be to tell your potential patients this policy when they first call you to make an appointment. Otherwise, best. *Also, I apologize for hanging up on your front office staff. Sincerely, it's not their fault as they're just doing as told. read more
