Had one of the most positive and wonderful experiences at Dr.Patel's office. I found Dr. Patel on tiktok and actually hadn't even come to his yelp page before I committed to working with him. So when I came on here to write my review... I found myself on here laughing at the one or two negative reviews on this page thinking what in the world could they have possibly complained about because everything from the staff that works there, the environment they have cultivated and the hospitality I was offered was literally top tier. I've worked in customer service for over 10 years and I'm a stickler for being treated properly. The entire staff has made me feel like I was SO welcome from the second I even had my zoom consultation over the phone. I flew in from Las Vegas to see Dr. Patel and his staff and I would 110% recommend anyone to do the same because it was worth it. They answered any and all questions that I may have and have been incredibly detail oriented accommodating. I called this office as a potential new patient, referred from a periodontist and could not have had a more unprofessional experience talking with the coordinator on the phone. I informed her I was looking to have 10-20 cosmetic veneers, and that I was looking to have a DDS work along side my periodontist to ensure the best treatment. Instead of acknowledging that, she gave me steps to follow to fill out forms online and to upload photos of my smile prior to the consultation. When I asked if she wanted the information of my periodontist for my FMX, CT, and treatment plan (which is very extensive) she did not take it, and told me the doctor would request if he needed it. I told her I would prefer if Dr Tejas would have my tx plan from her prior to him making one for me (I want them to work together) she ignored my request and told me she's worked in the field for 32 years and that she knew what she was doing. Sadly, I will not be taking this referral recommendation and did not appreciate the unprofessional coordinator on the phone. read more

Oh my goodness, I love this practice. I've only been there once, and I know I have finally found my permanent Austin dentist. I'm so grateful that Carmen was able to get me in to see Dr. Patel, even with his busy schedule. She is absolutely delightful, as is Kelly, and as is Dr. Patel! I could not ask for better. The professionalism, warmth, empathy, patience, helpfulness, and understanding here just blew me away. I've had this experience when I found an amazing dentist in Los Angeles (Dr. Ramsey Amin) and New York City (Dr. Stanton Young), and now I've finally found an A+ experience in Austin. Dr. Patel could not have had a better demeanor. He's pretty much your dream dentist -- clearly competent, experienced, very likable, and thoughtful. I realized I was a bit like a broken record, and I liked how Dr. Patel handled that; he was so considerate regarding my concerns. I was also rather surprised by just how accommodating they were -- wow... on several different levels, actually. Like I said, Kelly and Carmen were wonderful as well. I have never written a review on any encounter Ive have had yet in life. This office had such a overwhelming negative impact on me, I felt strongly to share my experience with the world. For a doctor whom is supposed to help fix teeth so people can be happy & share their smiles more, he sure did opposite with me. I'm a Firefighter/EMT and everyday at work we are prepared for the worst but hope for the best. Well one day recently I had one of the worst days, car accident, pulled up to a person dead on the road. I had to help the other patient whom was barely hanging on to her life by a thread get out of her vehicle. Well we got back to station and I this call we had took a toll on me where I go to working out to destress. In the midst of my pull ups ( with the machine) I got injured leaving me with stitches on top of my nose and a chipped tooth. After the horrible day/things I saw, all I wanted was my tooth/ teeth fixed to have even more of a reason to smile again. Well I trusted he would help. He and his nurse where nice at first. Their politeness and willingness to help got me to chose them to do the job. Well their politeness soon turned to extreme RUDENESS & UNPROFESSIONALISM. I initially received a great price! Lower for me than most due to my insurance. Well I went back in four times for exams ect...and each time that price went higher; from about $3100 to $4,900! When I asked for the price breakdown to understand why, all he and his nurse Kelly would say is the lab fees went up. He kept telling me he never does any work at this price(the lower price). I called kelly to ask again for a breakdown of the price, she was so rude and said hats the price take it or leave it, wouldn't explain what I'm paying for. I go into the office with all 4 of my quote paperwork I received just wanting answers so I can began my smile process. Well he all of a sudden DENYED my case, he had the receptionist tell me. I asked to speak with him so I can know the reason why. He refused. He wasn't Man enough/Mature enough to speak to me and tell me why, that is the most unprofessional move anyone can make especially a doctor. We believe the reason was because the price was too low. Well they shouldn't have gave me that "low" quote from the beginning, if they were not going to honor it. If I were not in already a lot of emotional hurt from my job, this sure made it worse. I would never recommend him if his staff to help with any density work. The receptionist Jenny is an angel and perhaps the only one there. She is the sweetest human being I have ever met in my life, she is the only reason (not him) I gave this office a chance to fix my smile. While Dr.Patel and his nurse Kelly may have taken my smile away, Jenny always was able to bring it back. I'm blessed for all her help. Do not go here. Update; ONLY after seeing this review did he call and apologize & asked me to take this post down or edit it(so this is me editing it). The dentist we used for over 20 years, Dr. Thomas Haddad, sold his practice several months ago to Dr. Tejas Patel. I have not had him peek at my teeth yet, but based on reports from my husband and son, he is extremely personable and attentive with a gentle touch. If you are going to allow someone to put his hand in your mouth and look around, that person better know what he is doing and apparently Dr. Patel does. Today, my son was fitted for visaline, a clear product worn 22/7 (removed for eating) that will straighten a couple of wayward teeth. He wore braces for a number of years but was lax on the retainer use so, here we go again. Dr. Patel also used a whitening treatment called "Zoom" on said son. It took about an hour and a half while he reclined in a comfy chair and listened to his music on head phones. His teeth are now gleaming and white. I almost had to put my sunglasses on to look at them. My girls from Haddad's office are still here, Laura "Possom Mom", Allison "Hilarious Hygenist" and Nicole "Best Dental Assistant in Austin", which makes our stay with Dr. Patel a win/win/win/win. read more

I have finally found a dentist that I will visit regularly! All of the staff made me feel so comfortable and were so nice every step of the way. There was no judgement and I felt very comfortable in their care even though I am usually very nervous at the dentist. I can tell that their team really cares about their patients. I just walked out of this office because of the rude and condescending way that I was treated by the woman at the front desk. I called Dr. Patel's office because I work in the same building. Convenient right? I called and they took my insurance information. They did not have any appointments that would work with my schedule, so I said I would call back. Today they called me and said they had a cancellation so I went down. When I walked in, there were two women behind the desk. I gave my name and she looked me up and down, and said "we were disconnected yesterday". What? So she handed me the clipboard and a pen, but after about a minute I handed it back and said never mind. I am NOT about to give go to a place who thinks that it is okay to talk to patients that way. There was no thank you for coming in on short notice, or welcome. Just a straight condescending attitude. The thing is that the woman who said this to me was not even the one who took my insurance information the day prior. She just waited until I came in, and figured it was okay to be rude to me. Laura at the front desk is exceedingly patient with me, always answers all of my question, and still treats me like a normal person when I accidentally show up for my appointments so early that the office isn't even open yet. Allison, the dental hygienist of the gods, will always tell you to floss, but she does it creatively. I will miss you and our discussions Allison! Dr. Patel is very nice and gentle with your gums and such. He has updated the office equipment and is very thorough. ALSO, since Dr. Patel has taken over the practice, this place is gorgeous. I cannot express how wonderful my experience with Dr.Patel and his staff was throughout the entire process of getting my veneers. Each visit, I was greeted with kindness and professionalism, and was expertly guided through each step of the way to my new smile. Dr.Patel listened carefully as I described the results I was hoping to achieve, and made recommendations based on my existing smile and the options available to me. Altering your smile can be a drastic change, and an emotional experience, but having Dr.Patel and his staff at the helm made the whole process worry free. I am so happy with the results, and cannot recommend this Dr.Patel enough if you are planning to get any kind of cosmetic dental procedure. Aside from Dr.Patel and his staff being the absolute best you could ever hope to find in a dental team, the office itself is the best I have ever visited. I'm currently on the road and on my way out of the country for a month in 6 days. So, not really in a good place to crack a molar, which is what happened to me last week, on a Friday, in the middle of nowhere. Knowing I was coming to Austin for work this week, I quickly logged on to Yelp and started calling every dentist with a good rating near my hotel. Some front desk people were nice but unable to help, some basically didn't feel like bothering since I'm not local and not going to be a repeat customer. And then I called Lakeway. First of all, I love southern hospitality, and by the end of the call I was gushing over the woman who answered the phone, who not only got me a Monday morning appointment, but was so heartfelt in her dismay over my situation -- and then REMEMBERED ME and greeted me with the same affection when I walked in this morning. The office was experiencing a serious case of the Mondays, and it took a bit to get in the chair, but everyone was so great that even in the chaos and delay I was well attended to, laughing and generally just taken care of. Honestly it felt like I'd just wandered into someone's home, instead of a dental office. Turns out I also had a cavity on the tooth next to the cracked one, and I'm going to need two crowns -- which I can't get because I am not going to be here long enough. Dr. Fagin figured out how to help me at least survive this next month until I can get somewhere where I can get it taken care of permanently. And listening to her talk to her tech while she was working on me was awesome. First of all, I've never experienced an office with dental assistants who know so much about teeth they could pass for the dentists themselves. Second, it was clear that Dr. Fagin is some sort of teaching doctor who is used to passing on knowledge, and it was just relaxing to listen to them banter about teeth. Also, from the conversation I gather that Dr. Fagin works on kids a lot, and seems pretty caring and understanding of that population. Anyway, I took a grip of business cards to give to my friends in Austin, and since I found this place on Yelp I figured I'd return the favor by letting you all know this place is great. read more

I've visited Dr. Patel twice, once for a cleaning and again for a filling. Everyone in this office is extremely friendly. When I visited for my cleaning it had been two years since I'd seen a dentist (job change, blah blah blah excuses) and let me say, waiting that long was a big mistake. They didn't lecture me, but I had tooth decay at the gum line and needed a filling. Before they started the procedure I asked for extra pain medication and they accommodated my request with a smile. I chose Lakeway Smiles Downtown on a whim due to convenience (it's about a mile from where I live and also right across the street from my office) and the fact that they were within my insurance network. I was pleasantly surprised by the design of the facilities, the easygoing demeanor of the staff. Laura was great when I called to make my appointment and took care of everything with my insurance so my first visit wasn't a mountain of new patient paperwork, Allison was awesome as my dental hygienist and Dr. Fagin, although we only spoke briefly was very nice, as well. Bonus: no one made me feel bad for neglecting my teeth for several years. I chose Lakeway Smiles downtown because of the great location. Little did I know, It would be one of the best health practitioner visits I have ever experienced - in fact, the best. Laura literally "went to bat" for me over the phone with an insurance issue - she was so sweet and someone that I would trust with any task, hands down. I instantly felt at home. Such a great lady. I had spoken to Allison a few times on the phone prior to the visit, and even then, was blown away by her "easy to talk to approach" and how unbelievably friendly she was. She did a great job as my oral hygienist, and I greatly enjoyed talking to her. Sarah was a great, forgive me for the lack of a better term, assistant, who, again, made me feel right at home. I felt more like I was there because of social desire than dental obligation - so nice! Dr. A, was the type of guy that I would be friends with: easy going, accurate, and got the job done with fantastic "seat-side" friendliness. You can tell he loves his job, and that effects the entire room. I owe you a drink, my friend. I walked away from my visit feeling that, in an odd way, I had made new friends - truly outstanding service from truly outstanding people! It's rare, but it exists here.
