We held a conference here. Great staff, super friendly! Very nice rooms, and the concierge floor is pretty awesome :) No outside balcony, but you're by the freeway so really who'd want that? Just outside downtown, about 15$ by cab. There's also a free Marriott shuttle that'll take you to the downtown marriott, and then it's a short short walk to 6th street. read more

We stayed here 4th of July weekend and got a suite because it was pretty much the same cost as a regular room. Everything seemed fine until I woke up my first morning there covered in bites. My husband thought that maybe they were mosquito bites from our walk at the Zilker Botanical Gardens and I just hadn't noticed the night before. So with that I decided to do something I should have done at the beginning and inspect the bedding. I've had bed bugs before and didn't want to go through all of that again! I saw nothing behind the bed board, but when I inspected the mattress I was very disappointed. I didn't see any bugs, but the mattress itself is not encased at all! Even "lower end" hotels think to put their mattress in bug-proof cases, but not the Marriott? Then I moved the mattress away from the wall to look at the box spring and was a bit grossed out. There was a ton of hair and lint from previous customers on the bed skirt linen. I expect more from the name behind this hotel. I finally decided to write this review after waking up this morning itching. I go to the bathroom and there are bites all over my feet and around my ankles. I would think it was from my hiking yesterday if I hadn't been wearing socks that went 3 inches above my ankle. I will say I saw no actual bed bugs here or even any bed bug carcasses, but what I did see shows me that their housekeeping standards leave it highly likely that they will have them if they don't already. I came here to visit my sister while she was in town for work. It has a restaurant with a full bar and an outside patio. It was nice and clean with friendly staff. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because the parking lot was full and there weren't enough spots. It was also hard to find amongst all the other feeder road hotels. Lastly, it was a bit far from my apartment, but I'd definitely have family stay here if the price is right. read more

If it were up to the staff alone, this review would be 5 stars. The hotel is a bit dated which can clearly be seen from the stock photos on the hotel website so I wasn't surprised to find what looks to be decades old furniture in my room. The important part, however, was that everything was clean. Here's where the minus 2 stars comes from. The room service I ordered was beyond sub-par. First, I didn't get what I ordered. I ordered the "trio of spreads" which was supposed to be hummus, pimento cheese and some other spread. What was delivered to me was what appeared to be a meat and cheese plate (which I didn't see anywhere on the menu). I didn't realize their mistake until after the guy left my room. Second, it looked absolutely repulsive. See the photo I attached. I'm not exactly sure what kind of meat this was and I assume the black things were dates. Needless to say, I lost my appetite and didn't bother going through the ordeal of returning it or getting my money back. Overall I would recommend this hotel. It's nice enough for the price point (compared to some of the outrageous rates for downtown hotels) and the front desk staff were so nice! I would just recommend venturing out and trying some the amazing food venues around the great city of Austin. Update: I had dinner at the hotel's restaurant downstairs and it definitely deserves one of the stars back that I originally deducted. The server was so nice. And the food was really good. We had convention here, and the facilities were excellent (modern and clean as well as spacious and quite), and the staff was wonderful and accommodating. There was also plenty of [free] parking as well as an excellent on site menu. I what to give a special mention to one particular staff member by the name of Caitlyn who was working all three days and consistently went the extra mile not just for my colleagues and I, but with every attendee I saw her encounter. I really don't understand why they put a Marriott hotel here, especially since it's part of a cluster of Marriott properties next door (Courtyard, Fairfield, and Residence). It's not much more than a Courtyard property. Certainly not up to our standards for a Marriott hotel. If you want something cheap and clean, just book at the Courtyard Marriott next door. You are not getting much more at this hotel other than room service. If you travel quite extensively then book elsewhere. The Omni at 35/290 is quite nice or stay downtown. read more

This must have been the most disappointing stay I've ever had at a Marriott, and probably would have had better luck at the Courtyard next door. The only pros I have to list are that the room was clean and they don't charge for parking. Disappointments/issues: - The least comfortable pillows I've encountered in a hotel - We actually ran out of hot water in the shower for several minutes. - The alarm clock is exceedingly bright, even on the low setting. Buried under a shirt, it still glowed brightly enough to think a close encounter was taking place. - When set to Auto, the AC didn't cool the room despite the temperature being on it's lowest setting. We had to switch it to High (discovered briefly before check-out) in order for it to cool. A bit uncomfortable, when it's in the high-90's outside. - The pool is fairly small and was inundated with children. Great if you have a family, but bad if you're actually looking to exercise. - The sun deck certainly get sun, but has a view of nothing but the walls surrounding it. The only issue that I could chalk up to circumstance was that the ice machine on several floors was out of ice. We happened to be staying here during a soccer tournament, and I imagine a number of people filled up coolers. "Meh. I've experienced better." indeed. I'm not saying that The Marriott is my favorite place to stay, when frequenting hotels, but we had a pretty decent stay. Aside from the two complaints, it could easily be five stars. However, i'm taking a full star away for each complaint. Complaint #1: The tub did not drain properly. I showered, and the water filled up in the tub as if were attempting to take a bubble bath; all that was missing were the crystals, bath gel, and the bubbles. Complaint #2: We were taken (by the shuttle) to 6th street. We were told that the shuttle stopped running at 11:00 p.m. Well, we were finished with dinner more than 30 minutes before 11, and called for the shuttle. They said he was on the way. Well, it was almost 10 till 11:, and still no shuttle. We called back, and they radio'd in to him, and he claimed to have "passed by the hotel where we were waiting, and where he said to wait, but not him. Calling the dispatcher back again, she located him a 3rd time and said that he'd swing back by after he picked up another few people, but it may take awhile (Texas Longhorns played that night and the game was just ending) due to all the traffic. We never saw him, and were forced to take a taxi. Shame on somebody. I'd stay here again, but only read more

Very nice hotel. I enjoyed my stay. The location was convenient to the freeway but quiet. The staff was outstanding. The accommodations were very comfortable, clean and stylish. This hotel scams customers by upgrading their WiFi WITHOUT their permission. I don't even use the WiFi and they charged me for upgraded WiFi. The office manager Celine is not good at customer service and simply refused to refund the fraudulent charge. I have stayed at this hotel at least 30 times in the past year without any complaints and she could have cared less. Hire you a new office manager that puts the customer first. read more

I really enjoyed my stay at this Marriott property. The consistency of a brand is important to me... I like to know what level of quality and service I can expect. I was immediately impressed by the loyalty and the dedicated staff at this Marriot property. All of the employees were very friendly, courteous and professional... I appreciated the warm welcome as I entered the lobby every evening and the sincere "have a good day" as I exited through the lobby every morning... Customer service is important to me. The common areas are well maintained and my room was clean and comfortable. A nice surprise in my room were the additional electrical outlets (I appreciated that level of attention to the details that really do make a difference). I can't say much about the proximity of this property to restaurants and local attractions but it didn't appear that it was in walking distance of anything intersesting. You'll need a car (there appeared to be ample free parking both outdoors and in an enclosed garage. I had a brief conversation with one of the managers and I got the sense that he took a lot of pride in managing the property and he spoke very highly of his colleagues and their dedication to delivering the very best customer service possible. Congratulations to the Marriott team at his location on a job very well done. So, why only four stars? Skip the restaurant... Mediocre service and less than mediocre food. read more

I was supposed to get a corporate rate and so they held my receipt with my business card and I was told that i would get a phone call back to verify. Never received a call. I then called again and just asked for a receipt so that I can expense the trip, but then never received the receipt again. I am on hold now again with the hotel and hope to receive it this time around. This is unacceptable and should never happen. read more

I'll start right off with this is one of the friendliest Marriott properties I've stayed at and I practically live in Marriotts. Everyone is eager to help and offer pleasant conversation. The food is reasonably priced and tasty at the restaurant as well as in the concierge lounge. It's also a nice gesture that they offer prime parking spots for elite rewards members (even if there's no chance they monitor it). The rooms I've been in have been well-maintained but they are very out-dated. Out-dated does not mean vintage/classic here. HOWEVER, they maximize the property with friendly service and clean facilities. BEWARE GOOGLE MAPS WILL SCREW YOU ON DIRECTIONS HERE. Use "Wayz" or you'll end up on the wrong side of the freeway. This is my third time staying at this hotel for business travel. No matter who is at the front desk, I am always greeted promptly and warmly. The staff is proactive in identifying needs, including transportation and general questions. The rooms are always clean and consistently ready for occupancy. When traveling for business the little things such as the availability of conveniently located and a sufficient numbers ports for to charge every electronic device in my briefcase. The Marriott is next to spring hill, Fairfield and the courtyard. It's conveniently located near I 35, downtown and the airport. They have a decent concierge lounge with a few friendly staff. We asked for an ice bucket liner. They brought up a lined ice bucket filled with ice! They could have brought just the liner but they took the extra step to go beyond the minimum. They have reserved parking for silver, gold and platinum elite members. read more

So far my stay is going well. The gym is pretty small; 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a set of weights. The pool is indoors and there are a few chairs on a small patio outside. Not ideal for spending the day by the pool. Everything is clean and everyone is friendly. The food at the small starbucks/cafe isn't bad and you can take the wine back to your room. read more

First I teach a class all over the US and Teach almost 100 day a year at for the most part Hotels, now the Marriott 1. Did a pre-site and talked with staff worked out the deal of the room for the class and the sleeping room. 2. Got paperwork and for the most part was right. 3. Arrived at location they hit me with a food bill for over 200.00 and the food was bad advised it was required for all the meeting. Hit #1 4. Sleeping room was to be 89.00 at ck in it was 149.00 5. Room was not set up when it was to be set up. 6. Room was so cold we ask and ask to turn down air never happened 7. Coffee was so nasty most would not drink 8. Then when I ask the pass word for the room for the internet they advised it was 250.00 per day!!! This was the pits and I will never go back read more

The front desk staff was very, very friendly and professional, at check-in, walking by during our stay and at check out. The bar was very nice (a little bright) and the food was good. The breakfast buffet is the basic made to order eggs/omelets/waffles, but was a little pricey at $17. The wait staff was hard working and attentive. The double rooms have double beds. There was room for queens and would encourage the hotel to update to those (doubles are miserable for sharing). Rooms were clean and modern. read more

Nice place, nice clean rooms that are about the right size for one or two people. Only problem was I was booked in a room that faces the highway and it was entirely too loud. I went to front desk and told the staff and was immediately offered another room without hassle. She retrieved the hotel layout and said 'I'll move you to 304 which is on the other side of the hotel'. I thought it odd she seemed to be hiding the layout from my view. I asked to see it and although hesitant, she handed it over. Could have just been my perception. Not the greatest location, the workout space is sorely lacking but nice place for a couple nights stay in Austin away from the traffic, noise and expense of downtown. Was surprised by the interior. They must have had recent upgrades because it was extremely modern looking. Staff was helpful and extremely kind. Coffee and water available 24/7 for guests. Room was super spacious with a separate kitchenette, desk, couch & tv section. Very clean and comfortable for a 3 star hotel. Daily breakfast was extensive with waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, oatmeal, cheese and meat, mixed pastries. Had cookies and chupa chumps at check in. We normally stay at the Spring Hill Suites next door bc it works with 2 small kids but the Marriott had a better price on a room during our recent stay. We had a more comfortable stay-nice beds and very clean. The pool and workout room are very nice as well! I would stay here again over another hotel again! read more

Each morning I called down to the front desk to secure a cab and was met with a friendly associate every time. The front desk staff went out if their way to help me get to my meeting location on time. Room service was also prompt and staffers were friendly and personable. Horrible place. Tried to treat my fiancé to a better hotel after everything being booked up because of some conferences in austin which forced us to be at the days inn the first night.
