Austin Performance is by far the premier volleyball program in Central Texas! My daughter has been part of this organization for the past five years, and I cannot say enough about the quality of coaching, training, and leadership. The coaching staff is not only knowledgeable and highly skilled, but also deeply invested in the growth and success of every athlete. Thanks to their dedication, my daughter's skill level has reached heights we never could have imagined when she first started. It's important not to be misled by a few negative reviews. In such a competitive environment, not every player will make the top teams or play the position their parents hope for. Unfortunately, some parents let disappointment turn into frustration, which does not reflect the true spirit or value of this program. The reality is that Austin Performance is committed to placing athletes where they will grow and succeed--decisions that are always made with the best interest of the players and the team in mind. What truly sets Austin Performance apart is their mission. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, their focus extends far beyond volleyball. Their goal is to empower young women by building confidence, character, and leadership--qualities that last long after the final whistle. Should be 0 stars. Stay away if you want any kind of actual customer service! This is from a parent whose kid was on a national team for two years, so I spent over $12k with them plus travel. Once they decide you're not good enough to deal with, they completely ghost you. The owner and directors will not even reply to ANY kind of messages. They literally treat kids and parents like crap even though they say everyone is "family"! They speak to kids in a super demeaning tone and don't reply to parents who have questions. They also threatened legal action when our friends tried to leave their contract, even though they'd provided NO services yet. They lied about coaching staff and players on our team too. This isn't the coaches, the coaches are amazing, it's the directors and owner. The owner only likes the kids who will get him notoriety or will go to his school or pay $$$$ for private lessons. Very shady, not to be trusted, only in it for the money! They don't have any Google reviews either and don't claim this page so they can't have more bad reviews. Total and complete waste of time and money. Try-outs are a joke unless you go to the "right school". This is nothing more than a money grab so they can fund their practice facilities for the chosen few. The Owners aka Directors, walk the courts like they're gods and EXPECT a$$ kissing. This is no place for a young athlete to learn the sport or the game. The owner flat out told the parents this is a business and they're right, it's the Pedro's used car dealership of volleyball (sorry Pedro). To put this in perspective, they're forming teams and taking non-refundable deposits without even having enough coaches. Save your time and money. Why? Let's discuss this club's business model, something only apparent once you have mistakenly signed up with them and have gone through a few weeks with them. This club is the only club in this central Texas area who bring in hordes of girls annually in November (not July) for "tryouts" with a substantial majority of these girls making "teams." There is no rationale basis on how teams are made or formed. Don't believe? Just come to one of their "tryouts" to see what evaluation has been made on any one girl. Fact is, no evaluation occurs. It's purely a numbers game. In this regard, numbers mean take in more girls, get more money. We strongly believe and suspect that the number of teams that are formed is strictly dictated by the staff's need for money at the time (i.e., more teams equal more money). These are not your tournament/regional, travelling teams, mind you. Those real teams, arguably, are the competitive teams (see other posters' comments on those teams). The "team," your daughter makes, at least for 12-13U and below, consists of glorified practices amongst other girls who have been (randomly) assigned to similar "teams." Your daughter practices with these other girls desperate to get better 2x per week for a few weeks and then get to "play" each other in these weekly in-house "matches." It's worse than you can imagine. It's the equivalent of watching parents going out there to bump, hit, and set. A real laugher when there has been no coaching for the player to get better. Sadly, these girls all have drive, heart, and desire to get better. Too bad these people are turning a blind eye towards the girls and not getting them better in the least. No personal relationships were formed and the hired help/coaches can barely, on a good day, remember your child's name. To call these girls' matches on a match day is an insult to the word "match" as that assumes competition. It's really more along the lines of a dumbed-down scrimmage, if even that. That's the "team" experience in a nutshell. You get congratulated (a form email) and told to come back when the few weeks run its course. The form email says that your daughter was great and to keep improving. Your daughters didn't get any better and it was a total waste of time, money, and a pathetic experience. If these were your expectations going in and you knew you were getting no coaching, no development, and only getting to loosely scrimmage other similarly situated girls, I guess this would not be so disappointing. As stated, there is no appreciable coaching, no development for the girls who were rounded up in this fashion and placed on a "team." Just show up and go through "drills," (is it even a drill if they give no instruction to improve oneself??), give your "team" a cute name, and play other girls who have cute team names. For this, expect to spend about low four digits monetarily. That's one heck of an expensive shoulder bag (it broke, btw), knee pads, and practice t-shirt from Adidas. Candidly, other posters are right. These "teams" they patch together (no rhyme or reason and not based on any skill or ability) are meant to access your hard earned dollars so that it can be used to fund the staff's other competitive teams or the staff's pay. Their motto of "well-trained" is a joke and doesn't remotely apply to these developmental "teams." In 2023, why doesn't this club have a Google review page? We were sorry we didn't ask that question when we started. We didn't see a Yelp review (only source of review of this club) until after the season. If you're wondering about girls older than 14U (15-17U), these girls are put on travelling local teams, but in speaking with other parents of these older girls, they didn't get any better, got little to no coaching, and after several months of practicing and playing in local tournaments, didn't appear any better. Politics were involved (e.g., I'm not playing you, I'm playing my own daughter; we don't like you so we exclude you from team bonding events). That is a sad indictment. As they say, "proof is in the pudding." If you go to their Facebook page (yes, they have one), all of the teams they posted are their competitive teams, teams that get coaching and that win a few matches in tournaments. There are no teams posted from the roundup tryouts. Why would they post of developmental scrimmages and teams that don't win? If we could do over, we would look into other area clubs. We certainly would have been happier to not have known about AP or AP Lite. There are those out there that truly care about your child's development and are candid with you about your child's ability. These are the clubs or coaches you should seek out. For the cost of low four digits for AP or AP Lite, you would be better served to hire a qualified coach and have that coach work with your daughter one-on-one. It would be a better investment and a better return. read more

What in the actual heck is happening with this place? I wanted SO badly to be able to come leave a review that said "those other reviews were wrong!", but I ultimately can't say that. Those other reviews were spot on. Spot on about how the coaches only watch a select few during try outs. I sat through two rounds of the tryouts for different age groups, and even in the less crowded ones, some of these girls didn't have a shot the moment they walked in. The coaches didn't even watch them, glance at them, acknowledge them AND THEY WERE GOOD PLAYERS. There were no notes being taken, nothing until the second half of tryouts and even then, it was only certain players that were notated. There was tons of talent that wasn't even given a shot. I watched multiple girls get put on teams that were just thrown together because there were "extras", walk away extremely frustrated. You need to know someone or have your foot in the door at an early age to have the coaches even realize you're present at tryouts. read more

Please don't go here. I myself am a former player for AP and I don't recommend. They always put their coaches before the players, they are extremely unorganized, and it is a waste of money. If you are put on one of the lower teams, they treat you like you didn't put in as much money, time, and effort as the higher teams. If you make it on one of the top teams good for you, but now you are going to suffer mentally. These coaches love to play favorites. If you aren't a favorite and you make a mistake during a game, you are back on the bench. This is in no way a good learning lesson considering you learn from mistakes. If you are constantly trying to get better and you keep getting pulled out of the games, how are you supposed to learn and grow? Don't go here. It's a waste of time, money, and effort. read more

Great club and coaches! They really try and develop these girls into great players. I really enjoy the variety of coaching styles they have and the variety of camps and clinics they have. I would recommend this club to anyone that is trying to develop into a great volleyball player. read more
