Hope this gets someone's attention at the restaurant and Grubhub. My first time to try both the restaurant and delivery. BBQ was good and I would give it a 3 1/2 - 4 rating max, although very expensive as BBQ goes. It is elite BBQ prices and while good food, not in the class of Pecan Lodge or Cattleak BBQ in my opinion, which command a premium price. Ours was $55 delivered for only 1 lb of brisket an 1 lb of ribs. Ordered with a 30-50 minute delivery range commitment. After over an hour and no food, I called Grubhub. After about5 minutes trying to find my order, they said it was delivered. I had no emails or text messages to alert me "on the way" or delivered, which is their procedure per the order option on Yelp. No knock on the door either per security review. Sure enough it was on my front door mat. I asked them why I paid a tip, delivery fee, and service fee for a late order and not following their own procedures? "Ah we will call the driver and see why it took so long". No real appology or offer to get back with me about it or to credit any of the fees I paid. Word to the wise...go for cash tip on delivery in the future vs. the ease of a credit card if you even use Grub Hub. Austin's BBQ should say something as well, as Grub Hub is not doing them any favors with this service. If it wasn't for all the up front fees and less than apologetic response, I'd let it go in this Covid era. read more

Flavor was good, mild and lean. I prefer a smokier flavor, but it was satisfying with the sauce. Fries were crisp. Service was fast and friendly, it was pretty empty on this Sunday afternoon. This building had been a pilot's hangout/bar for most of its life. As evidenced by a large mosaic on the floor, of the runway and taxiway layout of Addison Airport. It's a fascinating remnant (see pics). Actually, the interior is fun and inviting and Austin's has added some features such as garage-style overhead doors for days like yesterday (Sunday 10/20/19 which was borderline perfect in the afternoon). I ordered online for pickup and hit the place at around 2:30. I had obviously missed the lunch crowd, but I did not see as many cars on the lot as I prefer. We'll see. I sincerely hope it sticks! They are clearly still working out some kinks with the staffing. I base this on my own experience as well as Yelp comments. They were not very attentive when I arrived. They essentially could not be bothered for at least one minute after I stepped up to the counter. Is there some bell I was supposed to have rung for Pete's sake? Might as well pull down the sign right now if they can't fix this one. Must keep tabs on it. As for the FOOD! I told myself going in that if they nailed the slaw, they'd have a customer for as long as they don't totally screw everything else up. I ordered the "Three-Meat Plate with Two Sides." Brisket, Turkey, Jalapeno Sausage, Cole Slaw, Fresh Cut Fries. The meats were exquisite (some might complain the Turkey was slightly dry - but I'm not complaining). The Brisket melted in my mouth, almost disappointingly fast. It's hard to disappoint me on Sausage, but this was perfectly cooked with just the right sting. The fries were obviously fresh cut and not too salty, but were left in the vat a few seconds too long (maybe the staff is more attentive to the meats than the sides?). Lastly, I was stuffed but not miserably so. A sign of good judgment on portions. The Slaw was absolutely perfect (for restaurant Slaw). I prefer to see some coarsely-ground black pepper in my slaw, but this was no sugary and otherwise bland grocery store 'deli' slaw. Nor was it trying to impress by being too coarsely shredded. This was the real deal. I LOVED the Slaw. The sauce was great also, which I used on pretty much everything except the Slaw! Not too thick, beautifully balanced. Austin's BBQ: Fix the service staff attentiveness issues and you've won me! I'm in the neighborhood and this could become a haunt. read more

I was really disappointed visiting Texas and wanted to experience some good bbq. The ribs had too much cracked pepper, we didn't get our side order of fries we paid for and the brisket loaded fries were burnt. Which was a waste of money because we had to throw it out. The bartender was nice enough, I guess, as I don't go to too many bars. Our food arrives, and my food is not cold, which is a good thing?? But it's definitely not warm either. I ask my party if their meats were hot, and they shook their heads no also. Amazing BBQ and to think we have been driving all the way out to Hard 8 for good BBQ when this is much better and closer to home! There was an ordering SNAFU where I received an extra 1/2 pound of brisket and my one pound of turkey was not there. So after driving home, I called them, they apologized and said they did not have the staff to deliver the turkey to me. So I travel back to Austin in Rush hour traffic expecting to pick up the turkey and leave. Instead, I discover they will charge me for the pound of turkey giving me a $3 discount. I told them to keep their $3 discount, to return their unearned $2 tip, and a 45 minute round trip later I'm back home. I found the $3 discount in exchange to a 45 minute round trip for their screw-up to be offered a chinsy, cheap, stingy... The manager's position was since I received an extra 1/2 lb of brisket, I would still be charged for that. I did not order that! When I left the restaurant, the "manager" scolded me for having inconvenienced him for already preparing the turkey. I felt no sympathy for his lack of empathy regarding my 45 min inconvenience... As for the brisket it looked GREAT! However when I tasted it it was mediocre. I'd rather make my own bad BBQ at home than to pay for bad service. After all, I have food at home. I agree w the multiple people who previously reviewed the reheated BBQ meats, I also oil ordered a 2 meat plate, sausage/sliced beef plate, when I got the plate, the meat had a strange "glazie" look to it, it obviously wasnt sliced the day it was served. Once I got the plate to the table, blessed my meal, it was stone cold! I typically would've stopped there but, due to a time constraint, I ate it, WORST mistake I made, in a long time! It upset my stomach the rest of that day, into the following morning! Worst BBQ I've had in some time, I've also never had runny mac n cheese until then either! We are revising our rating on Austin's BBQ because the last three times we have visited the brisket has NOT been good!! On our visit prior to today, I asked one of the employees how to insure that the brisket was less fatty and not so tough in the future. He said to ask for the brisket to be cut from the middle and moist. I did that today and when I got home the brisket was cut from the end and full of fat!! The ribs were also fatty today and not as tasty as the previous several times. The first 6 times I was extremely satisfied with Austins BBQ, but the last 3 times it was not good. Since they are so convenient to my office and home I am really trying to like this place but this was my third visit. The ribs are pretty good my first visit. I got a half chicken the second time that had to leave most of the meat as it was undercooked and would not come off the bone. The third and last time my wife and I both had chopped beef sandwiches that were so greasy they soaked the buns till the just fell apart. That usually comes from using too much of the trimmings which is a money saving tactic. Now the sides: few French fries, laughable amount of okra, jalapeño pintos had no jalepenos that I could taste and had zero spices, black eye peas were actually a bean salad with other beans - not bad but not "black eyed peas". I didn't have very high expectations, but this place is pretty good. Large seating area with the old Duke's bar tucked in the corner. I ordered a two meat plate with Brisket, Sausage, Mac and Cheese, and fries. Cost was around $16/17 with a drink. Soda options were all local from a place in Dallas and tea. Rootbeer and tea were just fine. The brisket was good. Very tender and easy to eat. Mild smoke flavor. Not the best I've had but decent enough. Jalapeño sausage was not spicy at all and didn't really have much flavor - I'll skip it next round. I had a rib off of a friend's plate and it was the high point of the meat I ate - slightly sweet with a very good smoke flavor. I'll be ordering ribs next time. The lowest marks go to the BBQ sauce. It is very watery in consistency and had a very vinegary taste - they need to offer a different sauce option and everyone at the table agreed. The Mac and cheese was nothing special, but the fries were excellent - nice and crispy. Also, the Texas toast was excellent - hearty and lightly buttered. In all, this place is far ahead of all of the chains around here. Addison needed a good BBQ place and this will fill that niche. read more

Great lunch experience. Delicious food, friendly service and staff, cool and clean restaurant. I had chopped brisket sandwich that was probably my favorite ever. My boyfriend had the same and didn't even put their warm BBQ sauce on his because the meat was too good on its own. Fountain drinks are local instead of big brand and I like that. I had the red and he had root beer and we both went back for refills. Very delicious. Went there on a Thursday night at 7pm. BBQ restaurants normally don't have the greatest food at night as most are geared towards a big lunch crowd. I grew up in Tennessee eating and cooking a lot of pulled pork that I think is easier to cook than good beef brisket. My wife got a pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw and French fries. She said it was DELICIOUS and I tasted a small piece of meat and agreed. I got the sliced brisket and pork ribs and it was great. Cooked perfectly. U could pull it apart with your knife and fork and a small smoke ring. Smoke is a seasoning and I do not like bitter over smoked meats that I feel like came out of a burning house. Friends got pork ribs and turkey breast. All of us were very pleased. I also really liked their home made French fries and crispy fried okra. Some people have said small portions but I would have to disagree and I think you will also if you look at photos or go by and try it. Also owner is a great guy and both brought us our dinner and even checked back on us later. Large bar connected so if you are a drinker and an eater you'll never have to move. Ribs didn't have good bark and weren't tender. Green beans were the Italian style& were pretty good. Fried okra was ok. They had 2 sauces -- one a spicier version of the other -- that I didn't care for. Someone said they're mustard-based, but they didn't taste like Carolina-style bbq.
