I hardly ever leave reviews, but I had to make an exception for Ten50 BBQ because they have been consistently outstanding for as long as I can remember. The BBQ is incredible, the prices are reasonable, and you truly get what you pay for. What really sets this place apart, though, is the people. The meat cutters, servers, cashiers, bartenders--everyone is friendly, respectful, and genuinely welcoming. It's rare to find a restaurant where every single employee makes you feel appreciated. They're also very clean and sanitary. Everyone handling the food wears gloves, and I never see employees handling both money and food, which says a lot about how seriously they take food safety. The dining area and bathrooms are always clean, and there's plenty of seating. I actually live farther north, but I happily drive past all the other so-called "great" BBQ places just to eat here. That's how good it is. Management, whatever you're doing, keep it up. You're absolutely killing it. The quality, service, cleanliness, and consistency have never let me down. If I could give Ten50 BBQ more than five stars, I would. They never disappoint. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Line was fairly lengthy, but moved quickly. Meat sold by the 1/2 pound. I opted for brisket and sausage. Brisket had a think smoke ring with great flavor. A bit in the dry side, but it was the lean end. Sausage was really good. Im town and a coworker suggested we try this place. Light crowd for a Monday which was nice. You start with the meats, grab sides pick a place to sit and enjoy. They offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. I tried the ribs, brisket, beans and Mac. Brisket has a nice smoke to it runs made well paired with the sauce. So, what makes a BBQ restaurant stand out when so many are around - the quality of their smoked meats. Ten50 BBQ is one of the stand outs. You walk up (you're still outside) and decide what meats you want. You can get one slice of meat, or order it by the half or whole pound. And their brisket is delicious. My daughter gets the torpedoes - that's a jalapeño with chicken and cheese stuffed int with bacon wrapped around each one. She loves them. Once you select your meat, you then go inside and get your sides. Don't pass up their rolls...they are mouth watering good! And all their side are really good. You know how some BBQ places only specialize in one area. Either they're meats are good but their sides are lack luster - or reverse. Not Ten50. Everything is good! Updated Review: We used to love Ten-Fifty BBQ, but our visit last night was extremely disappointing. The food was cold, the meats were bland, and the sausage casing was so tough it was hard to eat. The service matched the food. No smiles, no hospitality, just a "what do you want" vibe. Prices feel like a rip-off for what you get: sides are $5 each, rolls are $1 each, and ours were cold. BBQ sauce is no longer provided in bottles, only in small ramekins. We spent $50 for two people and barely ate because it just wasn't good. This place used to be the best BBQ in town, but sadly it's gone downhill. At this point, a chain restaurant would be money better spent. And being prompted for a $7+ tip after that level of service? I enjoy a variety of proteins, so I chose a slice of brisket, a rib, half a jalapeño sausage, and one of their jalapeño poppers, along with a side of beans. I started with the rib, which was as delicious as it looked - tender, moist, and smoky, with a fantastic rub. The brisket was next and it was perfectly smoked with that classic Texas texture. Although I didn't get enough to savor the bark, the rub's flavor was delightful. The jalapeño popper was outstanding, cooked to perfection with soft and fully cooked bacon. I was looking for a place that was relatively close to my hotel. I found this gem; showed up and walked away impressed and full! Although, I heard there were better places for BBQ. You know you're at a real Texas BBQ when you see meat menu and you pay by the pound. It makes it authentic when you get a tray with butcher paper as the plate. I couldn't resist and was committed! The flavor in my mouth served up the perfect amount of fat, meat, bark, and spices. It was like synchronized swimming in my mouth. Perfect! The pulled pork was solid, juicy with a nice bark, and the sausage had a nice snap and spices. The chicken was a bit dry and tough. I was a bit disappointed but the skin was the best part of the chicken. I did order baked beans and I'm not used to that type of spice, smoke, and texture in my baked beans. We asked if we could bring outside cake to celebrate a bday and they had no issues and even let us borrow a lighter for the candles - so glad they weren't asking us to pay cutting fees etc like other places have started doing. They don't take reservations but it was super easy to find a spot for group of 10 on Monday evening for our work dinner. I've come here for years and this is a very good BBQ location in the city. When you enter you can pick your choice of meat and the cut that you want. I typically go for brisket, but this day I was having beef ribs. The food is cooked very good, soft and juicy as well. You can also let them know how you want it cooked. Service here is mostly on your own, there are not traditional waiters, you get your own drink from the fountains which is convenient. The employees are generally nice and I have never had an issue. The ambiance is based around a log cabin with an antique car in the middle of the floor on display. I've had this bbq many times before and it's always been top notch, but today was a bit different. I ordered my usual (1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket torpedos, and 1/2lb fatty/moist brisket). The ribs were just as amazing as every other time I've had them. Here's the part that was a bit off. About 80% of the brisket wasn't the fatty/moist cut. I tried a few pieces and I just couldn't finish it. I got ahold of the manager and informed him of what happened. He was so quick to fix the issue at hand and he did it with a smile on his face. We loved the fact Ten50 has both indoor and outdoor seating options. We came for a late lunch on a weekday and tried a variety of the meats to get a sense of their style and offerings. We had 1/2 pound of turkey, pulled pork, brisket, 2 jalapeño cheddar sausage links, and 2 bacon wrapped jalapeños with brisket. They have two sauce options - house and sweet. One had more of a vinegar flavor to it. We found the turkey, brisket and pulled pork were a bit dry and we were chalking it up to being there for a late lunch (3pm) during a week day versus a weekend. Had to choose between three different BBQ places while out here in Texas: Pecan Lodge, Ten50, and Terry Black's, since we were in town for only a short while. Went with Ten50 since it was closer to where we were staying. So glad we made that choice! I like their set-up here. You start off getting your meat before heading inside. You just let the guys know what you want how much of it (starting off with 1/2 a pound. We got 3 pounds of brisket, 2 pounds of sausage, 1 pound of pork rib. You can also grab your corn on the cob and baked potatoes here, as well. For our party of four, the meat was plentiful that we had to take home the rest (which filled their take home box). Once you get the meats, you head inside for the sides and drinks. It's kind of like cafeteria-style where you push the tray along and let the crew behind the counter know what you want. I think we went overboard on the sides; they do give you big portions that we were able to share a few. We went with the potato salad, mac n cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, green beans, and a couple rolls. Once you grab your drinks, sauce, utensils, and pay, you head into the spacious dining room (felt like we were eating in a huge barn), and pick out a table to eat at. Loved their house, but not so much the Carolina sauce - it was too vinegary. For the sides, my favorite were the green beans; cooked to perfection with bits of bacon. The potato salad was a close second with bacon, green onion, and cheese, the mac 'n cheese was creamy and delicious, the baked beans also had bits of bacon and was so good! Who am I kidding, all the sides were equally delicious! Unfortunately, the roll I got was stale. The rest of my crew loved it, and said it was soft and warm.
