Popped in on a whim and WOWOWWW! We got a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork to share so we could try them both. Fries, O rings, and sausage cause we always have to try the sausage. This was a tough choice between a 4* and 5* rating and would have been 4 1/2* if that was available. I'm going with 5 because of the items that could have been less that good (fatty brisket or skunky tea) were done well. We were here on a quiet Thursday night and both ordered the beef sandwich plate. Between us we had Cole slaw, okra and fries as sides and I'd rate: Cole slaw - Very good, slightly sweet with a very tiny kick. Fries - from a bag (probably) but cooked properly and crispy. Okra - same as any other restaurant that offers okra but properly cooked. Beef was tender and my sandwich had a mix of point and flat slices. I was happy to see that they did not default to chopped. Reasonable smoke ring and had fat sufficiently trimmed. BBQ sauce was provided warm and was quite good. Tea was good and fresh, a plus given we were close to closing on a weeknight. 1/3 of the floor space is dedicated to the bar area which lis a place I'd like to spend time at at some future point. Austin's rates a little lower than Cattleack (my favorite) but well above Dickies. Definately worth a try. read more

We do love coming to this restaurant for the great meat and desserts. However, getting up to the front door can be tricky, especially if you are new to this location. You can miss step and accidentally fall. See picture for reference. I came back here on a weeknight with my roommate to give them another go around. This time we ate there, it was dead on the dining side but the bar was pretty full. I do like how comfy the chairs are though. I got the 3 meat plate $25.00 with fatty brisket, pork ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage and fried okra and mac and cheese for my 2 sides. The brisket was indeed semi fatty and very moist but just lacked flavor, no noticeable smoke ring but tender. I used their warm BBQ sauce to eat it, maybe their way for brisket is just not my jam. The pork ribs actually were not as good flavor wise as last time but still good. The meat came cleanly off the bone but still had a nice bite. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was basically perfect, nice noticeable cheese pockets with good spice from the jalapeno and no inedible casing this time. The mac and cheese is good but nothing special, still very creamy. The fried okra was legit, nice and crispy breading with a hint of salt, just delicious. Not the showstopper of BBQ places but very good and well priced for what you get. I just may need to stop trying their brisket though lol. read more

Saturday was our 1st and last visit. My husband and I both bought the sliced beef plate. Only 1/4 was edible the rest was just fat, and it was barely warm. I ordered the stuffed chopped brisket potato, but it was extremely dry and lacked any real flavor. It was so dull and overcooked that I ended up throwing half of it away. I was really disappointed, especially considering the money I spent on something that just wasn't good at all. Good barbecue should be tender, juicy, and full of flavor -- and this was the complete opposite. If you enjoy dry, dull, and overcooked meat, this might be your place. This place has the best BBQ in DFW... They are consistent and never have an off day. Everything at this restaurant is so good. The food is fresh and seasoned to perfection. The establishment is very clean and has such a family-oriented environment. The cashiers have top notch customer service and are always so pleasant. The freaking collard greens are the bomb. I come here more than I'd like to admit, and not just out of convenience. I really love their Baked Potato, which I get fully loaded with either pulled pork or brisket. And they have one of the best cheeseburgers around. I've always had great customer service, whether I'm sitting in the dining section or the bar area. They have fun events and live music (worth giving a follow on social). But one of the most telling things, to me, is the regulars. In my opinion, a business with customers as frequent and loyal as I've seen has to be doing something right. Here, after a while, you get greeted by name, they remember your regular order, and give service with a friendly conversation. It's nice. Ask for their spicy habanero bbq sauce :) it's amazing with just the right amount of heat. The atmosphere is hometown casual, counter order for the dining area, but you can order at the bar, too, and I've always had excellent service. Very disappointing. When they first open was the last time I was here and it was good. This time it was not good sadly. This is not a Hutchins, Terry Black, or any of the top BBQ joints in Texas for sure. The brisket was very dry as if it had been held for much longer than it should have been just drying out. The smoked meatloaf was also dry. It had a good smoke flavor but was dry as well. The ribs were the worst. The bark was good but they smelled like rotten pork and did not smell good at all. I chose not to eat them out of fear it would be an issue. The banana pudding is not the banana pudding you expect from a BBQ joint. There were 3 wafers on top of the pudding with no bananas in it. The baked potato was the best thing on the plate. I should have known you get what you pay for when a 3 meat plate was only $21 its not going to be good. Kind of a weird little bbq spot in Addison. I had the brisket, jalapeño cheese sausage and smoked meatloaf with fried okra and collard greens. The okra and greens were outstanding. The sausage is good but more cheese than jalapeño. Meatloaf was interesting and good. The brisket was fine. It is a little weird to order food on one side but then to go to the bar to order a beer. Don't try it. Street tacos tortilla appears to be soggy buy ingredients (Pico, cheese, & brisket) DRY as heck. Brisket is flavorless & dry. Turkey is tough, flavorless, & dry. Okra cooked to bare minimum. Jalapeño pinto beans spicy with no flavor. I've never been more baffled at how the aroma in the place could smell so good but the food have absolutely no seasoning. We came here as a party of 16, and there was more than enough space to accommodate us! BBQ here can be ordered by the pound or in set plates. We were recommended to get 4 family plates (2 pounds + 2-3 sides, each, depending on plate), but I didn't think it would be enough, and we did end up ordering an additional 2 pounds of brisket. Luckily, since we ordered all the family plates we got to try every single side, which was great! Food was decent at best but not for the price. Spent $26.89 for the 3 meat plate and a small drink, I was astonished at how sad the serving sizes are. It came with 2 ribs with a small amount of meat, the brisket slices were tiny, about the length of a salt shaker. I've only eaten here twice and both times the food is excellent. I have some of the best barbecue around in my opinion. It's a quaint little place and feels like home. My stepfather used to come here all the time just for the ribs. They are good but so is the brisket and the chicken. I don't think there's a bad thing on the menu so far that I've tried. read more

Glad I stopped by the other day (yes pick up only during the current circumstances) and I'm very glad that I did. I ordered two, three meat plates to share with my family. And boy o boy was it great. We purchased the pulled pork, two briskets, ribs, jalapeno sausage and turkey. For the sides I picked out the fired okra, coleslaw, baked beans and mac and cheese. I have to say my favorite meats were the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. They all had a great taste and were flavorful. The sides were great as well, favorites were the mac and cheese, coleslaw and okra. The sauce was good but I think it was missing something. Not sure what but food itself made up for it.
