It has been a while but I recently went back here one weeknight. I ordered online ahead of time. They text you when your order is ready and I will mention this place is strictly a pick up and go unless you eat outside at their picnic tables. I got a Pork Rib Plate $24.99 which comes with 1 side, I got the Fried Pickles which was $1.75 upcharge. I also got the large Boudin Balls $9.99 for 6 of them and 1 Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage Link $6.99. The pork ribs are delicious, good bark, tender with a good bite but clean pull from the bone, very tasty. The rib plate is essentially half a rack and their ribs are quite large. I really hated that they put the fried pickles under the half rack of ribs. They ended up being wet and soggy, very poor packaging choice. The Boudin Balls were delicious as usual. The jalapeno cheddar link had really good flavor and the cheese pockets were very tasty. The texture of the link itself was a little gritty though. They have awesome pork ribs and boudin balls, this is what keeps me coming back. read more

I've been coming here for a while and enjoy the majority of their menu. They typically have good daily specials online, and I always feel like I get my money's worth here. Out of everything, I would say their smoked chicken wings stand out the most, but they have great sausage and brisket, too! I gave them 4 stars mainly because their customer service wasn't the best. Came here during the day on a Sunday and really enjoyed my time here. The barbecue was good but not the best I've ever had. I got the sliced brisket sandwich with their spicy bbq sauce. I did really like the set up and layout of the restaurant however. It's a little different than other places. Here you order at their window, then wait nearby till you get a text confirming your order is ready. Then you pick up your food and can enjoy it outside or in your car in their parking lot. Lastly, I really enjoyed the layout of their menu and specials. It shows what meats they serve on what days and has diagrams of the animal, showing what part your selection of protein comes from! read more

I ordered from Blu's Barbeque & BBQ Catering through Uber Eats, and it was a great BBQ experience. Even though I didn't get the chance to dine in, the food arrived fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The brisket was probably the low point, I'm blaming the delivery time on it. The burnt ends were insanely good, and the seasoning was on point. The sides were impressive--the Cajun potato salad, mac&cheese, baked beans, and sweet potato casserole. But the star of the show was the smoked chicken.. wow seasoned & tenderness to the gods! Never again. Ordered from DoorDash and my food was burnt AND cold. How that happen? Not their fault but my drink was also missing. Wow! Let me start there. I've had a lot of brisket in a lot of places but Blu's is among the best I've ever had and among my very favorites. I ordered 1pound of their "fatty" brisket, large slaw and large banana pudding. Let me say this is a lot of food! Also, while the brisket is fatty, ultimately this gives the meat a tenderness (without being greasy) that I don't often experience. Their brisket is next level and has to be experienced to be believed...I don't have the words to fully describe the greatness (of this brisket). The slaw and the pudding are good but it's so difficult to give them the kudos they deserve when the brisket was next level! Other than that it's not a sit down restaurant, very no frills...the exterior is fashioned from shipping containers, so that unique in my experience...and there are picnic tables with utensils and napkins nearby. I tried Blu's a few times years ago when they first opened and honestly wasn't impressed, which was disappointing since they're so close to home. But I'm so glad we decided to give them another shot! Not sure if it's new management, a different cook, or what--but the past two visits in the last couple of weeks have been great! The potato is so good and has the perfect amount of everything! I order from this place 2/3 times a month because it's good bbq. Really good I would say. Rather I go or have it dash. However, it getting hard to keep supporting them with the management they have in place. This the second in the last couple months I've had problems with them. First, time I order a rib plate and was short ribs. Now today I order rib tip they were on the menu for lunch 11 am for my lunch for delivery. Well my dash went to pick it up and waited only for them to tell him they not even ready at noon. This was supposed to be my lunch. So no lunch for me today. read more

Blu's has a walk up window to place orders but you can also order online. Seating is limited to your car or outside seating located across the parking lot from the ordering window. We ordered a half pound of jalapeño sausage and burnt ends, a smoked chicken salad sandwich and two pumpkin cornbread muffins. The food was reasonably priced for BBQ. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was fabulous! The bun was tasty and pillow soft. The chicken salad wasn't overly smoky or too mayonnaisy; it was just right. My husband loved the burnt ends; they were tender and juicy. The sausage had a nice snap and was not too dry but it wasn't soggy either. We would definitely go back. read more

Rode around Plano for awhile looking for a creditable place to have BBQ since I was only in town for a few days and really wanted Texas BBQ. First time in Texas so was lost on where to go to and what to get. Just so happened I took a chance based on a photo I saw and I was not disappointed. Ribs: I can't say anything bad about the ribs at all. They tasted just as good without sauce with sauce. Big A+++++ for me because I'm not big on some peoples sauces so that makes it worth it. However the sauce depending on the palate may be different it was a vinegar based which if not mistaken is Memphis style (don't kill me Texas if im wrong I'm just going on what I was told). The only down play was it was $45 for a 1/2 a rack which was a pretty big blow to me for pork ribs. If it was beef ribs I wouldn't have said anything but that was special I had just missed. Overall rating in my opinion would be a 8.5 for the ribs just because of the taste but the price just made those bites taste different. Peach Cobbler: I'm just going to say maybe it was because I got the last scoop of the pan and it was sitting there for awhile but that was not the peach cobbler I thought I was going to get. It tasted like something out of a grocery store freezer that was heated up which was disappointing since I really wanted something sweet after the amazing ribs. I will try again when I revisit so I don't want to deter anyone from the dessert but I will have to re-review this item so I'm not going to rate it. Presentation however it looked amazing...wished it had more peaches also...got maybe 2or 3 small cuts of peaches and the rest was crust. Jalapeño Mac and Cheese: So I've only had macaroni and cheese like this out of pigeon forge Tennessee which is in my other review but it was great I finished it first out of everything...really wished it was flattop seared which is how I had it before it just does something. However I would rate it a 8 must have. Brisket Wrapped Jalapeño Peppers: This was different all the way around for me. Loved every bit and loved the overall presentation. Definitely will be going back for those...$5 a piece which is not bad for everything in them. Rate these an 8 must have. Establishment: Great vibe!!! Manager and Bartender was attentive and came over to ask about the food. Locals was fun and was live. Sitting was little odd but wasn't terrible. Just never was a fan of people passing me while I was eating to order. My own bias opinion. I would rate the establishment a 9 just because it was exactly how I would want a BBQ place to look and feel. Prices: $85 for what I posted minus a banana pudding and pulled pork 1/4 pound. I find this to be a little pricey I'm not going to lie for the amount of food that was given. Let me start by saying that I have been to this place 5 times since early March!!... today is April 2nd. (Yes, I know... I have terrible eating habits) That should say a lot tho! Bottom line... absolutely give them a visit! So why did I give four stars instead of five you ask? Good question. I deducted one star for inconsistent performance. Three of the five times that I've visited have been phenomenal. Whereas the other two times have, unfortunately, missed the mark rather substantially. -The first time I went : I ordered a half pound of pork ribs, and a small side of mac & cheese. I literally made it three blocks before the wafting scent of smoky rib deliciousness won and I had to pull the car over and just chow down in the 7-Eleven parking lot. (I will say that the mac & cheese was just OK but MY mac & cheese is amazing so everything else basically fades in comparison!) -The second time I ordered: the food was just as good and luckily I made it all the way home. However I did decide to pass on the mac & cheese. Third time: I went on my lunch break and it was everything that I wanted it to be.. it hit that greasy spot and it just made me glad to live AND work rather close to such an amazing barbecue place (it's a catch 22, really) This is where it gets tricky because for weeks I had been raving to my friends and family about this barbecue place; how amazing the barbecue, how it's fall-off-the-bone tender, etc. Alas, I finally had a friend to join me for lunch and of course we decide it best if we go to Blus barbecue and on this day not only were the ribs incredibly tough to the point that we were not able to eat them but they were also incredibly over seasoned and I mean heavy heavy heavy on the pepper. I apologized to my friend I told her heyit's not normally like this she understood because she had been hearing me rave about these ribs and me being the picky person that I am she knew that it must just be a one off. The fifth time that I went which is the pictures that you see below the meat was fall off the bone tender I even explain explain to the cashier that my last experience was definitely subpar he apologize and threw in a spare rib. But as you can see the ribs were definitely fall off the fall off the bone tinder however they were not seasoned well and they just didn't have that you know like it's almost as if they may have been boiled or some thing I'm not sure if maybe they changed cooks in the back I don't know but whoever was there in the back cooking at the beginning of March we need to bring that person back because the consistency is really what's throwing me off at this point. Now that I finish the ribs in the pictures below. Period.... Absolutely Will I be in just as quick of a hurry to go there again I don't think so because I'm just afraid to get disappointed at this particular junction... but it was fun while it lasted!! read more

I love bbq so much and by far, the best I have ever found is at Blu's. I've moved out of state and the first thing I do when I land is order it so it's on my mom's doorstep by the time we get home from the airport. The fatty cut brisket is juicy and flavorful and the pork belly burnt ends are what dreams are made of OH MY GOD. When it comes to sides, the deviled eggs, Mac and cheese, and Cajun potato salad are all delicious. What I think about day and night, though, is their bread pudding. Holy crap, I wish that was a daily menu item because it is the BEST bread pudding. If you're wanting good bbq, look no further. This place is literal perfection. read more

I really wanted to like this place- but i just really couldn't get over the dry/unflavored brisket. We got a pound of brisket which was about 5 slices. It had a good bark to the sides of it but the actual meat didn't have any flavor and was extremely dry and hard to cut with a knife. However both sausages were really good- we both the regular pork and beef and the jalapeño cheese sausage and they were both tasty. All 3 items (1b Brisket, 1lb Reg Sausage, 1 lb jalapeño sausage) were about $60 which is pretty average for most BBQ places. They had an area of picnic tables if you wanted to eat there but otherwise it was mainly order at the window and go. There was a good amount of people waiting for food so maybe we just caught them at the end of the day and at a bad time, but to me, the brisket was just disappointing. read more

I ordered sliced beef and slightly lean and got beef not sliced into slices for sandwiches but clumps of beef that I had to slice with a lot of fat. Is it too much trouble to slice the beef for a sandwich without me ordering a sandwich and paying for bread? Greens were bland and lacking vinegar. Potato salad okay but big chunks. It was over cooked so much that both ends were charred and burnt and the center was overcooked, dry. It was like eating jerky. We all like good bbq, let's be honest. We have heard this place is a hit or miss, well I am very happy we had a great experience. I actually found them on groupon, the deal was awesome, unrefusable, so we went for it. I am not sure if their dining room is open, coz the groupon was valid for take out only, which was completely fine with us since it was a lovely weather and they have some tables in the back on the side, so we did not mind. We both got brisket sandwiches, just in a different way, haha, mine was chopped, I enjoyed it a lot a lot, but the other sandwich which was sliced brisket seemed like a better deal, was definitely more meat and it was awesome too. It was a young, lovely gentleman at the window helping us, answered all our questions, yes everything is made in the house. Potato salad was great and the coleslaw as well. Paying was super easy too, discount was applied. Upon checking in on Yelp I got a "deal", another one, haha, deals just come my way all the time :) I am not complaining. I got a free crafted soda, even thou our helper did not know about this, he went to ask the manager and he came back in less than a minute tellin me I can choose whatever flavor I like. Today, I went to Blu's BBQ on Preston in Dallas. I ordered online pick-up and went to the pick-up window as directed. Once there, a Middle Eastern looking guy with glasses gave a different customer his order and closed the window. I'm not sure if he saw me or not. I waited and they never acknowledged my presence so I tapped on the window. No response. I tapped again and the huge white guy with a burnt orange t-shirt that read Beckham on the back, rudely held his hand up towards my direction (without looking at me) to gesture for me to wait. Rude!! I wouldn't have had to tap if the customer service wasn't so poor. Fast forward to the food, I ordered the Gut Buster and this has to be a joke. The sausage didn't even look cooked or heated. My favorite BBQ in N. Dallas! Ordered for my birthday dinner Friday evening. Ribs are outstanding! Really don't even need sauce with them. Rustic atmosphere where you order at the window. Very nice and helpful staff with ordering recommendations. Had the ribs, cajun potato salad (so good!), baked beans, burnt ends, coleslaw (my favorite ever), mac and cheese (super creamy), corn bread muffins were addictive (spectacular and moist) and banana pudding for dessert. Banana pudding is my absolute favorite and the best I've had! The coleslaw has some jalapeño in it for a gentle delicious kick. Potato salad was creamy/made with eggs (like my mom makes it) so not the bitter vinegar type most places/delis serve. Burnt ends were fantastic - I shredded and put into my mac and cheese for a great combo! Can't wait to go back!
