This is a pretty solid bbq joint! You order at a window and eat at some picnic tables outside by the parking lot. There's no indoor seating. The brisket was my fav out of all the meats! Juicy and well seasoned with a nice crispy top. We got lean pieces without too much fat on it which was perfect! The Dino rib was humongous! I was hoping the meat would've been fall off the bone tender but it wasn't. I think it would've been better if it were more tender. The pork ribs and burnt ends were pretty solid as well. Good seasoning and the burnt ends had a good crisp to it. I think if they cut the burnt ends smaller it would be more crispy lol I really love a good baked potato and this has to be one of the best loaded baked potato's out there! The potato was soft and stuffed with butter, cheese, bacon and chives. It's good to eat with the meats to balance out some of the flavors. I was craving a good corn bread and this one was pretty good. It was moist and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweet and corn ratio. Overall it was pretty good bbq! I sitting at a 3.7 so I'll round up. I went on fourth of July and placed a take out order. The line was chaotic and once I finally got to the front, they told me it was another 30 minute wait. In the Texas heat with gas prices being as high as they are it wasn't the most comfortable 30 minutes but it is what it is. People were getting mighty agitated which didn't help the situation. This time I got a text and went to the front and they made my food. Sides were lack luster and I got the potato salad and coleslaw. I ordered the rack of ribs, some brisket (1/2 pound) and one texas twinky. The brisket was decent, not too fatty and still tender. They charged $18 a chicken and wouldn't honor on line price cuz they hadn't updated their prices! He claims the info was 11months old. But they hadn't updated their pricing and wouldn't honor what was on line. Baaaaad business! Didn't eat the ribs so I can't comment on them. Ordered for the first time at this walk up BBQ spot. Ordered on- line with no problem. The food was ready for pickup. The fried okra was not crispy. The Cajun potato salad was good. The mac 'n cheese was bland. The banana pudding was good. The smoked baked beans appeared and tasted like canned pork 'n beans. Definitely not the bbq beans that I usually eat. Came here during the day on a Sunday and really enjoyed my time here. The barbecue was good but not the best I've ever had. I got the sliced brisket sandwich with their spicy bbq sauce. I did really like the set up and layout of the restaurant however. It's a little different than other places. Here you order at their window, then wait nearby till you get a text confirming your order is ready. Then you pick up your food and can enjoy it outside or in your car in their parking lot. Lastly, I really enjoyed the layout of their menu and specials. It has been a while but I recently went back here one weeknight. I ordered online ahead of time. They text you when your order is ready and I will mention this place is strictly a pick up and go unless you eat outside at their picnic tables. I got a Pork Rib Plate $24.99 which comes with 1 side, I got the Fried Pickles which was $1.75 upcharge. I also got the large Boudin Balls $9.99 for 6 of them and 1 Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage Link $6.99. The pork ribs are delicious, good bark, tender with a good bite but clean pull from the bone, very tasty. The rib plate is essentially half a rack and their ribs are quite large. I really hated that they put the fried pickles under the half rack of ribs. They ended up being wet and soggy, very poor packaging choice. The Boudin Balls were delicious as usual. The jalapeno cheddar link had really good flavor and the cheese pockets were very tasty. The texture of the link itself was a little gritty though. They have awesome pork ribs and boudin balls, this is what keeps me coming back. read more

The brisket was probably the low point, I'm blaming the delivery time on it. The burnt ends were insanely good, and the seasoning was on point. The sides were impressive--the Cajun potato salad, mac&cheese, baked beans, and sweet potato casserole. But the star of the show was the smoked chicken.. wow seasoned & tenderness to the gods! Wow! Let me start there. I've had a lot of brisket in a lot of places but Blu's is among the best I've ever had and among my very favorites. I ordered 1pound of their "fatty" brisket, large slaw and large banana pudding. Let me say this is a lot of food! Also, while the brisket is fatty, ultimately this gives the meat a tenderness (without being greasy) that I don't often experience. Their brisket is next level and has to be experienced to be believed...I don't have the words to fully describe the greatness (of this brisket). The slaw and the pudding are good but it's so difficult to give them the kudos they deserve when the brisket was next level! Other than that it's not a sit down restaurant, very no frills...the exterior is fashioned from shipping containers, so that unique in my experience...and there are picnic tables with utensils and napkins nearby. Went for the smoked turkey this time. Super moist, even the white meat, which is rare. Got a few thick slices and they had a solid smoke ring. Paired it with baked beans--they were hearty and a little sweet with chunks of meat mixed in. Solid side, nothing fancy but hits the spot. The brisket was decent the sell it per half pound and I got 1 1/2 pounds and it was substantial since it was mostly the"flat" and 1 piece of the point. Blu's has a walk up window to place orders but you can also order online. Seating is limited to your car or outside seating located across the parking lot from the ordering window. We ordered a half pound of jalapeño sausage and burnt ends, a smoked chicken salad sandwich and two pumpkin cornbread muffins. The food was reasonably priced for BBQ. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was fabulous! The bun was tasty and pillow soft. The chicken salad wasn't overly smoky or too mayonnaisy; it was just right. Rode around Plano for awhile looking for a creditable place to have BBQ since I was only in town for a few days and really wanted Texas BBQ. First time in Texas so was lost on where to go to and what to get. Just so happened I took a chance based on a photo I saw and I was not disappointed. Ribs: I can't say anything bad about the ribs at all. They tasted just as good without sauce with sauce. Big A+++++ for me because I'm not big on some peoples sauces so that makes it worth it. However the sauce depending on the palate may be different it was a vinegar based which if not mistaken is Memphis style (don't kill me Texas if im wrong I'm just going on what I was told). The only down play was it was $45 for a 1/2 a rack which was a pretty big blow to me for pork ribs. If it was beef ribs I wouldn't have said anything but that was special I had just missed. Overall rating in my opinion would be a 8.5 for the ribs just because of the taste but the price just made those bites taste different. Peach Cobbler: I'm just going to say maybe it was because I got the last scoop of the pan and it was sitting there for awhile but that was not the peach cobbler I thought I was going to get. It tasted like something out of a grocery store freezer that was heated up which was disappointing since I really wanted something sweet after the amazing ribs. I will try again when I revisit so I don't want to deter anyone from the dessert but I will have to re-review this item so I'm not going to rate it. Presentation however it looked amazing...wished it had more peaches also...got maybe 2or 3 small cuts of peaches and the rest was crust. Jalapeño Mac and Cheese: So I've only had macaroni and cheese like this out of pigeon forge Tennessee which is in my other review but it was great I finished it first out of everything...really wished it was flattop seared which is how I had it before it just does something. However I would rate it a 8 must have. Brisket Wrapped Jalapeño Peppers: This was different all the way around for me. Loved every bit and loved the overall presentation. Definitely will be going back for those...$5 a piece which is not bad for everything in them. Rate these an 8 must have. Establishment: Great vibe!!! Manager and Bartender was attentive and came over to ask about the food. Locals was fun and was live. Sitting was little odd but wasn't terrible. Just never was a fan of people passing me while I was eating to order. My own bias opinion. I would rate the establishment a 9 just because it was exactly how I would want a BBQ place to look and feel. Prices: $85 for what I posted minus a banana pudding and pulled pork 1/4 pound. I find this to be a little pricey I'm not going to lie for the amount of food that was given. I order from this place 2/3 times a month because it's good bbq. Really good I would say. Rather I go or have it dash. However, it getting hard to keep supporting them with the management they have in place. This the second in the last couple months I've had problems with them. First, time I order a rib plate and was short ribs. Now today I order rib tip they were on the menu for lunch 11 am for my lunch for delivery. Let me start by saying that I have been to this place 5 times since early March!!... today is April 2nd. (Yes, I know... I have terrible eating habits) That should say a lot tho! I literally made it three blocks before the wafting scent of smoky rib deliciousness won and I had to pull the car over and just chow down in the 7-Eleven parking lot. (I will say that the mac & cheese was just OK but MY mac & cheese is amazing so everything else basically fades in comparison!) -The second time I ordered: the food was just as good and luckily I made it all the way home. However I did decide to pass on the mac & cheese. Third time: I went on my lunch break and it was everything that I wanted it to be.. it hit that greasy spot and it just made me glad to live AND work rather close to such an amazing barbecue place (it's a catch 22, really) This is where it gets tricky because for weeks I had been raving to my friends and family about this barbecue place; how amazing the barbecue, how it's fall-off-the-bone tender, etc. Alas, I finally had a friend to join me for lunch and of course we decide it best if we go to Blus barbecue and on this day not only were the ribs incredibly tough to the point that we were not able to eat them but they were also incredibly over seasoned and I mean heavy heavy heavy on the pepper. I apologized to my friend I told her heyit's not normally like this she understood because she had been hearing me rave about these ribs and me being the picky person that I am she knew that it must just be a one off. The fifth time that I went which is the pictures that you see below the meat was fall off the bone tender I even explain explain to the cashier that my last experience was definitely subpar he apologize and threw in a spare rib. But as you can see the ribs were definitely fall off the fall off the bone tinder however they were not seasoned well and they just didn't have that you know like it's almost as if they may have been boiled or some thing I'm not sure if maybe they changed cooks in the back I don't know but whoever was there in the back cooking at the beginning of March we need to bring that person back because the consistency is really what's throwing me off at this point. Now that I finish the ribs in the pictures below. Period.... Absolutely Will I be in just as quick of a hurry to go there again I don't think so because I'm just afraid to get disappointed at this particular junction... but it was fun while it lasted!! read more
