HANDS DOWN the best place for shutters. We moved into a new home and we really wanted plantation shutters - we love the look and the utility of it, but when we had called around for our old home the price was way too much to even consider. Mary DeMarco was our designer. My husband walked in first and was quickly sold on the shutters. I was skeptical especially since my husband is never sold on something like this so quickly lol. (I was in the car with my napping child so I missed the beginning). Then Mary explained everything to me again without being annoyed and how pricing is really not that bad with their volume discount. So we had her give us a ball park. And she was right. A FRACTION of the price of what we had experienced. Plus we were quoting for MORE windows. 19 to be exact! ASIDE: they have a basket of toys for the kiddos to play with while they're waiting!!!!! We set up a date for Mary to come over and measure the windows. I think she's done this a few times ;) she also matched the wall paint so the shutters look seamless, explained everything, and gave me ideas on what way the hinges should go etc. honestly was like chatting with an old friend! Then true to her word, the shutters were done and then installed in four weeks. We got them installed right before moving in which couldn't have worked out better. The installer was friendly and efficient. I will let Mary do a better job than me selling you on why this place is amazing but I was never oversold, I was given great advice, I LOVE how they look, and AND there is a lifetime warranty. They are also finished in house in Austin, while the shutters are manufactured in Lubbock. I'm so happy to support a local business that does fantastic work and with old school customer service that everyone misses (you know I mean!) I just bought a new home and all I knew was I wanted plantation shutters. I Yelped window coverings in Austin because I honestly didn't know where to start. Austin Window Fashions came up and I read all their amazing reviews and figured they were who I wanted to go with. I stopped by the store one morning and met with Laurie. She was so great, knowledgeable, kind and super helpful. When talking to her about the shutters we talked about doing white and I happened to mention it would be cool to do black and she said they could I was thrilled! I wanted blinds for nighttime privacy on a long wall of tall windows, but I didn't want to give up my garden view or have it diminished with cords or clunky blinds in the daytime. Laurie Clifton was my designer and helped find the perfect solution and color with the battery-operated roller shades. They have the seamless minimal appearance I wanted and work perfectly. There was a minor glitch with the initial installation, but they were right on it and sent Cody out to make adjustments and help me get the app set up. Austin Window Fashions covered a large arched window in our den several years ago. I was reluctant to have plantation shutters as our back yard is very green and has a large attractive pool. But it faces west and was quite hot. After installation it took only days for me to not notice the shutters. We decided to cover4 windows in our breakfast area and again used Austin Window fFashion. Ordered shutters for the front facing windows a few weeks ago and yesterday they were installed. I love them! I've always had curtains but wanted a fresh look and improved street appeal. At first I thought they looked too heavy and I was concerned, but after a couple of hours I'm completely happy. Solid quality, improved privacy, decreased the light and noise from outside (with a million different ways to adjust both) and quick installation by people who made sure I knew how to operate them and handle any warranty issues if they should arise. We had 1 call, 2 emails, and the rep was very short, didn't offer to help, and took a month to follow up. Five years ago we moved to Sun City and had to replace everything as we lost it all in the Paradise "Camp Fire". One of the major things my wife wanted were plantation shutters and custom shades. We purchased a 10' horizontal pleated Hunter shade for our picture window from a competitor of Austin Window. It had a "lifetime warranty" through Hunter and a couple of months ago the "pull string" snapped. We went to Austin Window Fashion's competitor, where we initially purchased the shade, to get it repaired. To say the least they were less than enthusiastic...not at all the "Welcome" we had received when we were spending thousands...We "chalked it up" and thought we'd try Austin Window Fashions. They said that they were a Hunter dealer and could handle the whole thing with minimal charges for removal and re-hanging...No charge at all for the repair. Within 3 weeks we had our picture window shade back better than ever with no repair charges. Hunter honored their guarantee and Austin Window facilitated the connection. Of note: we have a loft in my second bedroom that could not be moved away from the windows. The challenge was identified during the quote process and AWF kept track of the special need up through installation.
