Laurie Clifton was our designer. She listened carefully to what we said we wanted. Then she showed us different options (in the showroom) in terms of style, material, etc. She respectfully retreated while my husband and I discussed the options. She then gave us an initial quote (gulp) pending coming to our home to measure and assess. Once she was there, she was able to show us materials that were on sale, make further suggestions and overall was able to trim down the cost quite a bit. She really is a designer as well as a fun and pleasant person to do business with. We ordered our blinds in the last quarter of 2020 and Laurie was quite upfront about the lead time because of covid and back orders and delays. We were pleasantly surprised that it didn't take quite as long as she projected (under promise and over perform) except for this one blind that we had problems with. It is a motorized double blind so a little more complicated and it took 4 times to get it right. But other than the initial payment, they didn't ask us for a penny until the factory got it right and we were satisfied. It was all handled professionally and efficiently. Even my picky husband was pleased. Now my daughter is getting her blinds from them after initial crappy service from the likes of a big box store that rhymes with Dome Hepot. So yeah! Shop local! We remodeled a 36 year old home and needed 3 more plantation shutters for our windows to match the existing ones. We contacted Austin Window Fashions and Tara K immediately replied to set up a time to come out, take a look and measure our windows. She brought samples and explained all of our options thoroughly. We were VERY pleased that she wore a mask and was careful about staying distanced while she was here. It didn't take her long and she gave us a date to expect installation. Our shutters were delivered and installed on time and perfectly by Jason, who was also very courteous and efficient AND wore a mask while he installed. After he left, we discovered one of them had a squeak when opened it, so we called and he came right back to our home, fixed the squeak in no time, and we couldn't be more pleased. You can waste your time like I did by getting estimates from other vendors like 3 day blinds that are not going to deliver in 3 days (they also advertised a sale but their brand of shades actually costed more than Austin Window Fashions) or home depot who didn't even call me back after the measurements which they took my $50 for. I was also concerned that they didn't know what they were doing because honestly, they didn't. With all the time I wasted looking I could have had my blinds sooner from Austin Window Fashion. Remember to ask for Kathy Wallace. She was diligent, punctual, reliable and very professional. You can tell right away that she knows what she's doing and you will be in the very best hands in the industry. She even took a measurement of a window that I didn't think needed blinds but really did and she already had the measurement for me when I was ready to place our order. I was told my order would take about 2-3 weeks for delivery and then scheduling after but my order was delivered and installed within two weeks. That's amazing timing! I can't say enough good things about this company. Even the installer was so incredibly professional. He's a full time employee with them and so he knows what he's doing. He was punctual, courteous and even put booties on before coming into the house since that morning it had rained a little outside. All interactions with Austin window Fashions (AWF) staff was very professional, friendly and responsive. I met Tara in the showroom and she is the reason for my purchase. She came out to measure for plantation shutters throughout my home. You get email confirmation the any time anyone needed to come to my home they were on time. Ray and Eddie completed the initial install. They were really great. An oops was noticed with some of the shutters and AWF responded quickly to fix the issue. Jason and Eddie needed to come out to re-install the repaired shutters then the Production Manager Lee came out to check, as well. The is why there are 5 stars. I would be remiss to not mention the issue with the shutters. I have had wood plantation shutters installed in all of my home and this was somewhat concerning. I encourage customers to check your wood plantation shutters closely. The issue was the top of many louvers were very rough yet the bottom was smooth. I noticed this the first time I cleaned them with a Swifter duster and it snagged. I called the office and they sent 2 installers out to remove them and repair immediately. This is good customer service folks! I was very impressed. They placed temporary paper covers over my windows and turned it around within less than 7 days. Again, they still remained rough so calling the store they took my concern very seriously thus the Production Manager coming out and he fixed them on the fly. Lee was amazing and has been with the company for 20 years. The GM, Amber, also called me to make sure I was well taken care of. Please do not reconsider due to my review. I have had so much done to my home, and past homes, and also have been in an executive position to know what good customer service is. AWF is it. My case was unique. There are many services out there like contractors that may do an OK job but never respond to fix the issues or disappear. AWF made it right and I applaud them for their efforts and follow through. Another good thing is the warranty and the fact it is transferable to the next home owner. I definitely would refer them. read more

We purchased a brand new home in Austin and quickly realized we would need some window treatments ASAP. I called AWF and spoke to Leslie who invited me to the showroom that very same day so she could show me some options. Love my faux wood shutters in my 1930's restored bungalow on the East side. They match perfectly with the cottage-like decor and I get compliments on them all the time. The sizes were perfect (although in a pier and beam, the connections do shift over time) and really added the best "feel" for the house. Installation was great and customer service was perfect. I would highly recommend- I interviewed two other places and I like Austin Window Fashions because I felt like they cared about what I wanted and had designs in mind that would suit my house. Also, when I went to the showroom, they walked be around through the factory, introduced me to the owner, and showed me how everything was made. We needed to get plantation shutters for a remote ranch that is about a 5 hour drive SW of Austin. We expect to pay a fair price for a very high quality product but we also insist on the utmost in professionalism throughout the process. Too many "professionals" in the home construction and decoration fields regularly do NOT meet our expectations. We have learned to choose carefully! I called many of the better window coverings companies in Austin to decide who might meet our standards for such a project. When Leslie Plas answered the phone at Austin Window Fashions, I immediately knew that we had found the right match. Leslie is extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable, no-nonsense and to the point. She was willing to fly to the ranch on a quick day trip to do the measuring herself and was flexible with her schedule to accommodate this trip on short notice. She advised us on finishes which would come close to matching the existing barnwood window trim and she hit the nail on the head. The plantation shutters with the custom finish look FANTASTIC and greatly enhance both the look of the house and the energy efficiency since they completely block the sunlight and keep heat out of the room when they are closed. The installer who drove out from San Antonio was also first class. Thanks to Leslie's accurate measurements, every shutter and the two semi-transparent shades fit perfectly. The installer was finished with his work within a few hours and took the time to clean-up after himself. Because of how pleased we were with the product and service, we then hired Leslie to provide us with similar shutters for a small condo in Austin. I recently had a bunch of top down/bottom up shades ordered & installed from Austin Window Fashions. I worked with Kathy, who patiently and clearly explained the different options and answered my questions. The custom blinds came in more quickly than expected and were installed without issue. Kathy came to measure when she said she would, and the installer came and installed when he said he would. I'm remodeling and working with a number of different vendors, and I wish everyone provided the level of customer care that AWF does. GREAT EXPERIENCE! We received a few quotes but Austin Window Fashions had the best rates. Meredith came to our home to discuss all of the options and to take measurements of all of our windows. She also put together multiple quotes, as we couldn't decide which rooms we wanted to do shutters vs. blinds. The bulk discounts are a great deal but we ended up buying a few sets of blinds first and then reached out about a month later to order the shutters. It is super convenient that they keep all of our measurements on file so that we can call anytime and order more! I had to write a review after today. We had austin window fashions do wood shutters in our entire house back in 2012. We have been so pleased with them. We did an off white to match the trim so they never go out of style. The quality is absolutely wonderful. At the time it seemed like a lot of money because we did our entire house and 10 years later i am so glad we did. They are truly quality shutters. One of our shutters wouldn't stay open and we tried to tighten it ourselves so i called them last week and they said they'd send someone out no charge because of the warranty. I didn't even remember about the lifetime warranty because this is the first time I'd needed it. The gentleman came out today and showed me how to tighten them as we didn't realize there were two screws to do so. We only saw one. He was so nice and quick. I will absolutely use them when we move to our retirement stage home as it has been such a great product and company to do business with. read more
