I ordered from Habibi for lunch and it was delivered by Grubhub. The chicken wrap was doused in a white sauce which caused the pita bread to be a soggy mess. I decided to check out this place during SXSW (March 17th) because of it's high Yelp review. Never did I imagine that I'd encounter the type of service that I did. The wait was decent, which sadly is where I draw the line in complimenting this food truck. Don't get the gyro, plain and simple. When I gave the specific instructions of extra tomato and no tzatziki, (which isn't hard to follow) they still got this wrong. I'm not difficult to get along with, i just wanted what I ordered. When I kindly returned my food to get my order corrected, I was given the coldest stare this side of 8 mile Rd! I was looking for a good place to grab some food within walking distance of the library so I tried this place. The gyro was decent in flavor but nothing all too special; I've had better in Austin and elsewhere. I also felt that $8.50 was a bit much for the size. Overall, I was a little disappointed that I walked further to have this place rather than just going across the street to Trader Joe's, which would have been closer, better, and most likely cheaper. This is a little food truck located in the back truck yard area of a bar, tucked away in a shady area underneath misters and in the evenings several mosquitos. Drinks, soft or otherwise, are served by the bar next door - free refills. Parking in front was free on the Sunday evening I visited, yet usually requires payment. The food comes in very generous servings and is authentically Mediterranean. The pita bread is the thicker type but is fluffy and soft. The chicken is well spiced and the lamb is off of a vertical rotisserie, cooked very tender. Meat is served over a bed of rice below an appropriate amount of sauce - you can ask for more sauce if you would prefer. The plate is a lot of food for a pretty decent price. Seems to be a healthy option as the rice and meat is served next to a good amount of greens - a sort of Mediterranean salad of cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and feta. Well worth the visit! P. S. Seriously. I called in an order to be delivered. The gentleman on the phone was very nice, but obviously did not understand what I was saying. I asked questions about some of the plates and salads. I explained I was feeding a group of about 7 people and wanted to order 4-6 items. I thought I had ordered 3 salads and 2 plates (a veggie and a gyro plate) and extra pita bread. What I got was 2 salads, both with meats on them (which was not great for the vegetarian) and the 2 pitas. They called me multiple times to find the Hyatt Regency Downtown (it's been there for decades). Seriously, I was busy working on an event and severely frustrated and hungry. The food was very good, so my suggestion is don't try to order delivery from here. But do go and get some of their food. It was delicious. read more

The food was pretty tasty, until I encountered the red sauce. That crap is hot! It was everywhere, so my more spicy tolerant husband got my dinner. My two main complaints were the unapproved substitute of dolmas to hummus and the lack of a receipt. I liked​ hummus fine, but I was really looking forward to some dolmas. So between the spicy crap all over my food (it wasn't listed as spicy on the yelp menu), the random substitution (that cost me money) and the lack of a receipt, I'm not that impressed. I'll probably try them again at some point, but until my entire lower face stops burning and I get some dolmas, I'm going to go elsewhere for my Mediterranean food. Austin Habibi is the best place in Austin to get your gyro/kebab fix. I've probably tried 5 other places including Kebabalicious and Verts kebap and Habibi is my favorite. They have really good fresh falafel that is fried to order. The gyro meat is very tasty, I usually get the plate. I also like that they give you white sauce and spicy red sauce on the side. I love sauce. They are a permanent food truck near Whole Foods and there is an outdoor patio to sit on and eat that is shared with the other food trucks. read more

Ambience - this is a little a tiny a$$ food trailer on the corner of the street in downtown. It has a few benches and tables outside for you to eat if you wish to eat it ASAP. Definitely don't judge a book by its cover because this place rocks. Menu - The menu is Greek food and it sticks to the basics. It's got hummus, gyros, med salads, falafel and such. Basically you get either lamb or chicken (or both) in a gyro or on top of Mediterranean rice or in a salad. Either choice you make you can't go wrong. The gyros come with the standard tomatoes, cucumber, salad mix and tzatziki sauce accompanied with chili sambal. They have sides like fries with sauce, hummus and falafel. Very straightforward menu but what they do, they do right. The price is also very reasonable for either a gyro or plate. Service - I always call in the order for my company (And we order quite a bit, least once a week) and then have an employee pick it up. The phone ordering goes well, we usually don't have any issues. Sometimes the accent gets in the way but we always have a relativity easy time. There was this one time we ordered a bunch of "gyro wraps" and the gentleman said they don't have gyro but they do have lamb. LOL, that was so funny we couldn't even be mad. There is always one "issue" we have, we always ask for extra red and white sauce and they rarely do. If they do give us extra it is like 2 extra portion cups. But when I order for 15 - 20 that doesn't go very far. But overall, they are really friendly and really funny. Food - I have had everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. I usually get the gyro platter which is all the gyro fillings over a bed of Mediterranean rice. Their rice is really good, it is seasoned very well and ways cooked right. I haven't had any dry rice or uncooked rice. The tzatziki sauce is also one of the best I have had in a long time. Of course the chile sambal is a fantastic addition to your meal. Now obviously the main focus is on the meat. The chicken and lamb both have a lot of flavor, always moist and seasoned great. The cuts they do are also good sized cuts, it's not huge but they arent shredded into mince pieces either. This is one of my favorite Greek food places. The food here is amazing and never had a bad experience. The combination of all the ingredients blend exceptionally well together. They also assemble the food very well, it sucks having all your gyro fillings fall out or all the meat on one side. The veggies the use always seem very fresh as well, never have any of that frost from being in a cooler for days. It is just a great product. Overall - this place for how small it is, produces an amazing product. Whenever I buy food for my crew I know I can always choose Habibi and everyone will want it. Sometimes when we try to get other things like pizza or tacos everyone either can't agree or find common ground. But if i say we are getting Habibi, everyone cheers. This is my company's and my personal go to place for Greek food. read more

I had a chicken wrap and habibi fries. The chicken wrap looked like it was going to be smothered in Tzatziki sauce (said white sauce on the menu). Let me tell you how pleasantly surprised it wasn't. The wrap was absolutely to die for. They added a spicy pepper-like sauce. It really made the wrap pop with flavor. The Habibi fries were out of this world. Layered with the same spicy pepper-like (red) sauce that was in the wrap, and a mayonnaise like sauce mixed with it, with crisp french fries, I was in heaven with every bite. The only thing that knocked down the star was the 60-75 minute delivery time. That was incredibly unnecessary for such a small order. -1 Star. read more
