I discovered St..Elmo and came back! I originally trying a falafel sample at the Discover St. Elmo event with Yelp. I came back because I appreciated having a sample today reflected the main dishes of a Jerusalem street food truck. I order using the he link to their toast. They were on a break, so I had to wait a little longer. The link to order came in handy vs me waiting to put an order in until someone arrived. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and a side of falafels. My falafels were crispy and flavorful. The chicken shawarma wrap was the perfect size. The amount of meat on the wrap was really good, all of the ingredients were balanced well. The chicken was flavorful as well. I wanted to order fries, but they were sold out. I frequent the Yard at St Elmo often since I live nearby. Most of the time I am at St Elmo Brewing and alternate between having Spicy Boys or Patty Palace for food so I don't make it down to check what's new as often I should. Reem's is located by Spokesman coffee and I recently was able to learn about them and try their falafel at a Yelp event, and it really was the best falafel I had ever had - well seasoned, perfectly crisp, yet light on the inside. Ever since, I had bookmarked it so I could try more. I ordered a Chicken Plate and a Falafel Plate for delivery to share with a friend. They both traveled well. The plates come with a side of tabouli and hummus. I got the Spicy Hummus, which I didn't get any heat at all so I would order spicier in the future. The tabouli was nice and bright from the fresh parsley. The chicken was okay but I think I'd try the beef and lamb instead. I'm sure glad I gave this spot a second chance. My first go around was with the lamb/beef wrap. Which was solid, very juicy with the sauces, and more than satisfying for a quick lunch, but quite a few chewy fat pieces from the lamb which left me less than impressed. But this time, I tried the Chicken Shawirma Plate - MY GOODNESS. Outstanding. First bite was a scoop of hummus, and let me tell you... I did not know hummus could be this delicious. Creamy, buttery, delicate. Do they put butter in it? I don't think so, but somehow it's that good. Next the chicken. Delicious flavor. Juicy, moist, just really good chicken thigh. Put it all together with the rice and the pickles and you have a standout lunch. The side tabbouleh salad (basically fine parsley and mint with lemon juice) was bright and a great compliment. It's the ideal presentation for a falafel and truly redeems them after so many years of terrible attempts. To be honest, I was not really expecting much seeing as it was a food truck, but honestly it was banging (really good). Good amount of spice, great flavors, and very clean meat - no awkward cartilage chunks that I have to pull out of my mouth like other shawarma spots. Love the pickles and other fillings they use, traditional and the flavors hit. Overall, nice and filling wrap that for the price is worth the cleanliness and flavors IMO. First off: they take orders via Toast. I believe it's a one-man show and since everything is made to order, it can take a while. There's even a sign on the window encouraging you to order online so the chef can focus on preparing orders. Even if you do have to wait the full 15-20 min for your food -- it is so worth it. Everything was so fresh and beautifully prepared. We ordered the chicken shwarma wrap -- my two young girls (1.5 and 4.5 y/o) devoured it. I probably could've ordered them each their own. The beef and lamb plate had generous portions and came with a thin pita to dip in the hummus. We also ordered the fries, which were actually perfection. Solid middle eastern food out of a food cart next to Spokesman and the Tesla repair place. I end up working remotely from the coffee shop next door at least once a month when my husband has appointments in the area, and we have long been wondering about this food cart. Should we try it? Well, we finally did! We each ordered the falafel plate and everything tasted fresh and hearty, without leaving us feeling bloated and overstuffed. That's a good balance. My hubby and I wanted to try their baba ghanoush but they were out unfortunately. We were offered hummus instead, which we tried, and it did not disappoint. Truly some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in Austin! The falafel, hummus, and shawarma and veggies were all great!

Reem's is a phenomenal food truck that deserves more popularity, and hopefully, a brick and mortar down the line. Until slightly recently, their shawarma was the best in town, but they've now switched to using tortilla wraps instead of pita bread (costs maybe?) and the mouth feel and overall taste isn't the same anymore. I miss it, but I won't order again with the current changes, so I'll get my fix from the Phoenicia resto cafe or the Phoenicia bakery. Their bowls and plates are well portioned and incredibly flavorful!. Service isn't the friendliest sometimes, but if you're there for the food, who cares?. Just as their name indicates, their falafel is incredible and probably the best I've ever had outside of a Lebanese friend's home. People giving this place five stars must have started by getting a good buzz on at Austin Winery next door. :-) When I went, around 8:30 on a Friday, they had already run out of wraps. I got a bowl instead. It turned out to be a thin layer of meat and a few vegetable strips just barely hiding a bowl full of rice. No sauce -- just rice and the barest minimum of meat and veggies. For $14.50, it felt like a rip-off. The meat was supposed to be beef and lamb, but I couldn't tell one from the other. And due to the lack of sauce, it was dry and not very flavorful. The veggies helped a little, but they were gone after the first few bites. I was very disappointed. I wished I had gone to one of the many other nearby food trucks. read more

My husband and I each got spicy plates - one chicken and one beef/lamb. The portion was filling and just what I needed to go with my Friday evening chill at the winery. I stopped by this great food truck for some falafel. The owners were very friendly and my falafel pita was so fresh and falafel was one of the best!! Had cucumbers, lettuce, spices, and tahini /spicy hummus. Fresh pita You can get other pitas or a platter. Fries have Za'atar sprinkled on top. They have spicy Harrisa if you ask, was so good!! I went to one of my favorite coffee spots at Spokesman to grab a coldbrew and work remotely when I saw a food truck nearby and decided to give Reem's Falafel a try! There slogan was "Streetfood straight from Jerusalem" which caught my attention! There is a wait about 15-20 minutes on average so I would recommend calling in ahead to save you time. I tried there there Falafel Plate w/spicy hummus and definitely did not disappoint! The Falafel was very flavorful crispy texture on the outside and flavor bomb in the inside! Everything else was fresh and my favorite thing was the spicy hummus wish they gave you more, but I'm sure it would sell out too quick! Ordered takeout tonight from Reem's & as usual, it was fantastic. My wife and I go to the truck often but takeout in general can always be such a hit or miss; not here! I ordered extra pita bread with our order and even got a personalized note from whoever was working explaining that they were running low on pita. A one man show, this guys makes food soooo slow. Takes 5 orders at a time then closes the window and cooks for over a half hour. Completes all 5 orders before sending anything out or taking anyone else's order. Doesn't even acknowledge the customers waiting to place an order besides giving a "1 minute" finger gesture and then turning his back. If you have time to wait 30-60 min, go for it.
