Our shutters look absolutely fantastic. I met with Stephanie at my house at first. She showed and my wife all the different ways we could cover our windows. Who knew there were like a million? Anyway, we told her we definitely wanted shutters on a couple of windows and we were up in the air on the rest. We had a quote emailed to us within 48 hours. I had a great experience with Austintatious Blinds and shutters. They originally came to our house to measure our windows and advise us on different options. I was immediately impressed with not only all of the selection they carry but also their knowledge and expertise about what would work best in each room. We decided to look through the showroom prior to making a final decision and we were very glad we did. The showroom allowed us to see all of the different styles of blinds with full sized displays throughout the store. We have a small child so choosing options that were not only functional but safe was a big priority. Getting to test out each one helped our final decision. The sales reps did a great job of coaching us through the process. A few of our windows were odd sizes so they took about 10 or 11 weeks to come in. They let us know that in advance and we felt it was well worth the wait to have custom built blinds made specifically for each window. The install went incredibly well. They were polite and very informative. Three of our blinds in the living room were motorized so they walked us through the process of changing out batteries or taking them down if we needed to paint the walls. They are awesome by the way. Not having to reach behind the couch to pull blinds up and down is incredible. I worked with Austin Window Fashions initially, but switched to Austintatious after I felt Austintatious had a better understanding and design prowress to make it happen. I'd rate my transaction with Austintatious Blinds & Shutters as slightly-above-meh. We had asked for the rep to bring temporary paper blinds when she came to measure (we had moved into a new house that weekend and had no window coverings of any sort). She had no record of this, although she was nice and professional, but we had to sit and wait another 3 hours for her to drive to Lakeway, go to other appointments, and come back with them, which was slightly annoying, but okay, fine. We were given a time period of 2 - 3 weeks for the blinds to be installed. At week 4, I called them, and they told me they could get me in that weekend, but only because someone else cancelled. Why they would admit that they would have kept me waiting longer but for a cancellation, but there you go. The installation dude was a couple hours late, but the blinds did get put up quickly and looked really nice, minus a busted pull handle we noticed later and a pull handle that was a different color than all the others, the latter the installation dude did note. When my husband addressed our concerns with the company and stressed that, for something we are paying so much for, we expected more, he was met with pretty much total indifference. I would probably not use Austintatious Blinds & Shutters again, but I wouldn't tell someone not to use them either. We wanted to use a local business rather than Home Depot and the like, but when you pay more to support those local businesses, you would hope they would outperform the big box stores with a higher level of customer service. read more

We purchaced roller blinds for our new home, 15 in total, a mix of blackout blinds and lighter ones. When installed the blackout's protruded from the window frames and ao they had to be replaced. All up this took over 16 weeks and lots of follow-up on our part to resolve. My assesment is that the team is nice, but seem very disorganized. I worked with Tracey at Austintatious Blinds, and the service deteriorated as I continued to have problems with the Hunter Douglas shutters they sold. Multiple shutters were replaced, and the finish has continued to be problematic. Hunter Douglas support is horrific as well; they are blaming Austintatious and not willing to stand behind their product. We used Austintatious Blinds twice to provide Plantation Shutters and Blinds for our last two houses. Installation was great; however their service for our Hunter Douglas Shade was very poor. They lost a critical part while servicing these blinds in July 2020, and after numerous follow -up calls and text messages, here we are on October 1, 2020 and no part!! Having worked with sales and marketing teams in a large company, I know the importance of not just selling a product to a customer; but also retaining that customer with good follow up and customer service. Future referrals of friends, co-workers and neighbors are usually important to professional companies, but I cannot rate Austintatious Blinds more than a "1 star" based on lousy customer service. Should never take 2 months to mail a $3.00 part to us. Sad to say, but for our next house, we will not be using Austintatious Blinds, nor ever recommending them again. read more

Some custom blinds were needed for my client's home that was going to be on the market. So I was in a slight hurry. I went into the store and received IMMEDIATE help. I didn't have the correct measurements, so I had to go get the blind and take a trip back to the store. But I was informed that I could just call to relay the measurements which were on the top of the existing blind. So that saved me a trip! Each time I called, someone helped me and they were ALWAYS professional and EXTREMELY helpful. There is not that much customer service these days, and they impressed me on good old-fashioned service. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They initially gave me only one quote for their most expensive shutter doors, no other options. It was $800 higher than a bid from another company. Then they were going to get back to me in a few days on some options for drapes. I never heard back from them. I went to another company and had great service. Too bad they are not responsive business people. Although they said they called, I never received a message, but will give them the benefit of doubt on that. My husband and I moved into a newly built home in New Braunfels in October. About a month before we closed, we realized that window treatments didn't come with the house. We found Austintatious through Carefree Concierge, and loved them. Sherri met us at the house very quickly and made recommentations for the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Honeycomb with room darkening, Norman Plantation Shutters, Hunter Douglas Design Screen with Cassette and faux wood blinds for the garage and laundry room. The entire company was very easy to work with and they kept the communication flowing even when there was a strike at the docks which could have caused a delay in our shutter installation. They also provided temporary window covers - nothing fancy but they worked. Their installers were great and fast! Don't do like us and wait until the last minute. The honeycomb shades took 4 weeks and the shutters took 10 weeks. Well worth the wait though! read more

Bought three wooden blinds with cordless lifting feature. Took a couple months to arrive and when they did (first visit - install) one did not work and they all had cords not wands for tilt feature. The swap to a wand from cords was quick (2nd visit) but the non-working replacement took a couple more weeks (3rd visit). Then the wand would not 'tilt the blinds closed' after a couple months use. Service call (4th visit) was again quick and fixed the issue - but commented the part can 'wear out' rather easily. We do not adjust them every day and only had the blinds for a couple months - How do they become worn? I think they may use second hand parts or something. I point out how many visits it took because they do not service or install products after 5 during the week or on weekends. If you both work - plan on one of you taking off / leaving to meet these folks! No exceptions! People were really nice, but just about anything that could go wrong - did. Oh yeah - and you better make work arrangements beyond the initial sales visit! Nothing like taking off work 4 times just to have 3 blinds installed and working correctly. Would have been less hassle (and much quicker) just to do it myself. read more

I wanted to like this place. I really really wanted to....but, my experience didn't quite turn out that way. We just moved to Austin, bought a place close to downtown and wanted to make sure we got shutters and blinds that we really like, even if it was on the pricier side. After a little bit of research (clearly not enough), we decided on Austintatious. We got plantation shutters and some blinds, shades and drapes for the rest of the house. Here is a quick summary on all the visits: #1 - Home appointment to show us the options, take measurements etc. No issues #2 - July 3rd. Installation for everything except the shutters since they weren't ready yet. The installer said he couldn't make the large woven shade that we had for the media room operate. Basically it wouldn't close. Just for reference, just this shade cost us about two grand. Installer said someone will get it touch with us to fix it We waited a couple of weeks and heard nothing back from Austintatious. So I reached out to them on July 18th via email...was told someone will get in touch ASAP...then crickets again....I waited a couple more weeks and then used their feedback survey to convey how disappointed I was with the experience so far. Someone reached out to me right after that and scheduled an appointment for repairing it #3 - Aug 6th. One of the owners and another guy came and took a look...said they needed to order new parts and that they will be back to fix once the parts arrive #4 - Aug 28th. Repair person came with "new" head rails...spent some time, tried and said still couldn't make it work...they had to go back and discuss what they could do. #5 - Sep 19th. This time two repair folks with another new head rail...they said they had "figured out" what was wrong....result was the same - they couldn't make it work... At this point, the owner came back and said we should try and get a different fabric....my wife and I had basically given up on ever having our media room fully done...we picked another fabric even though we didn't like it as much as we did the first one... #6 - Oct 27th. Another installation for the new fabric that we had picked...the installation was done and we were told that one of the carriers were broken and that they had to come back and fix it later #7 - Nov 25th. Another installation to replace the broken carrier....this time, everything did work the way it should So it basically took ~5 months from the first installation to get the thing finally working. I understand things can go wrong with these installations and someone may need to come back to fix it...but how a business can allow something to go wrong so many times is just beyond me....It makes me question the quality of their products and the skill of their employees....and having paid about five grand for all the things we purchased from them, it does make me question if we overpaid... On the positive side, the plantation shutters look good so far and they did give us a 200 dollar credit at the end of it all....the new fabric we ended up picking for the media room doesn't look all that great....probably what happens when you are forced into picking something when your first choice doesn't work... So net of it is we had a mediocre experience with Austintatious Blinds. I don't think I would want to recommend this to family or friends. Verdict: Avoid read more

Worst experience in Austin. SLOW is an understatement. I never expect anything that fast in this town, but months later, two simple orders are yet to be completed. It seems as though the facade of friendliness disappears once payments are made, and getting them to fix their mistakes seems impossible at this point. All they provide are excuses for mistakes, rather than the solutions. If you have months to spare and the patience for terrible customer service this is the place for you! However, if you prefer getting the correct order without broken parts that take several weeks to come in (after they say it will take 3 days) then save yourself the unnecessary stress and take your business to someone that knows what they're doing. read more
