The go to place in the San Jose area for tanning. They have several locations, several options for membership, and is always clean with welcoming staff. I rarely tan except to prepare for a beach vacation. I usually avoid the sun at all cost. They make it easy, and are helpful in getting that base tan as needed. Since I only need a short term membership, they are very conscientious of letting me know what day I need to cancel by, how to cancel, so I really only use what I need. The girls at this location are incompetent. I showed up needing a spray tan they said sure had me pay. Then informed me of a one person wait. I had barely enough time as it was but just enough for that. So I sat there twenty minutes. In that time frame other girl in a tanning bed decided she wanted to spray so they whispered behind the desk and put her in front of me. Not one girl took that opportunity to let me know they were going to make me sit another twenty minutes. The worst customer service just gossiping the whole time about boyfriends. Never going back. They also put a client in a room with a dirty bed while I waited and had to make her get dressed and come out to clean it. Wonder how many times that happens and the beds are just left dirty. Shoutout to the 2 staff members working last Saturday 9/10. I came in shortly after opening. I have become a member (got their unlimited package) before my cruise, but never came back until recently. I did not see much of a tan and almost cancelled, but after I explained the dilemma, the gals recommended another shade and suggested I do it twice. I was reluctant, but agreed. My legs, my everything is no longer pale. They are opened Mondays through Saturdays. I have not seen a crowd, but I do know that this place can get crowded so if you are on a time constraint, go early. Never saw any issues w/ cleanliness. The booths get sanitized and wiped down after each person. The room is a bit small, but there is a place to put your clothes and belongings. Hairnets available and a washcloth is available to pat yourself dry, wipe the bottom of your feet. Only con is their check-in. They ought to do it by phone number rather than by name. I have been hearing a lot about red light therapy, so I started doing some research and realized that there was a salon that offers this service not too far from my mom's house. This weekend when I went to visit, I decided to stop by Australian Tan to get a little more information. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted at the front desk by an associate named Leilah. She was happy to go over the services that were available as well as the pricing. She was very friendly and patiently answered my many follow up questions. The facility was clean and welcoming. I go to this location a lot! I used to run a tanning salon (which was in this location previously) for yearrrrrrs. I always super appreciate Leila and how she does her job. Reminds me a lot of my time working there. She's always smiling and quick and helpful. I had a little trouble my last session (when she wasn't there, my tanning bed wouldn't turn on) and SHE was so apologetic about it. I felt bad because it obviously wasn't her fault but I appreciate her bringing it up when I came back in today of course! I truly believe that this Australian tan location does well BECAUSE of HER!! The service at the Willow Glen store is AMAZING, all the girls are so welcoming and sweet.. Leilah is such a sweetheart and was so helpful and attentive! It was highly irritating to find out that the salon had lowered its prices but failed to notify any existing clientele. And that the monthly package we had been paying $79.00 a month was now only $59.00! Especially since they had just charged an additional $15.00 for administrative costs?!? Bad business. The Morgan Hill Salon is overpriced and the owner is rude and refuses to make her salon safe for her customers. I honestly come here about 2-3x a week. I have the $60 membership which includes all beds and extras. I use the red light therapy and level 5 bed the most. I first started with the lower membership which only includes beds 1 & 2 and recently upgraded which i'm glad I did. Usually around 12-3pm I don't have to wait to get into the beds. read more

She's very friendly and always professional when helping all customers, not just with myself but I've seen her deal with some hectic situations and she always finds the the best solutions for her costumers. I live 200 miles away to the closest location, I always receive compliments on my tan. Ashley helped me today with my issue, she credited my account and froze it for 6 months. I have really bad eczema and Amanda was really knowledgeable on recommending me a really good tanning lotion and a awesome red light product, and neither one of them made my eczema worse or irritated. So if you have sensitive skin I recommend these products. Ask for Amanda when needing help she walked me through how to use the products and when to use them. Ok, ok I admit it. I love to tan! With my Hawaii tan fading, and my need to maintain my color for my trip to Playa del Carmen in 2 months, I need some fake sun! This location is fairly new and very clean, with really nice high pressure beds, and the girls who work here are all very friendly. The only disappointing thing is that they don't have the Sun Dash Stand Up advertised on their website; it's a much older version, but it still gives you a nice tan after 8 minutes. Another plus about this place is that it's located right next to 24 Hour Fitness. So I can head in here for 10 minutes (sometimes there's a wait, just because it's so popular) and then work out right after. Take advantage of their March Madness specials right now! You're locked into a super low rate for their unlimited tanning memberships. You'll have to head on in to get pricing, but hurry before the month is over. read more

Second time I've used an Australian Tan. First was the one in Morgan Hill 7 years ago in preparation for my wedding and subsequent Virgin Islands trip. It did the trick. This last week, I bought a week pass (really 7 sessions with a max use time of a week) for $25. What I wasn't a fan of both times is the cost of the bronzer they have you get. It cost as much or more than the sessions did. Well, all staff was helpful and very friendly. They forgot to show me the radio on the first one, but no big deal. Both rooms I tried were clean. I did 2/7 of my sessions in the cocoon. Not sure how much that helped, but it was alright. Apparently can help with weight loss. Perhaps I'd try this in the future; we'll see how much a pass is. read more

Purchased a groupon for three spray tans and went to redeem them. Nowhere in the Groupon does it say you cannot use two at one session or can't allow another person to use one. It reads "limit one per person, may buy additional as gifts".. meaning i cannot purchase four Groupons for 12 spray tans and redeem. Anyways, I went to redeem last night with my little sister and the "manager", Nicole, was extremely rude and obviously lacked customer service skills. There was a really kind man helping me so this review is not a reflection of his service at all. When I got to the salon, he started signing me in and I informed him I had a Groupon and I wanted to use two. That's when she butted in and rudely told me I can't use a Groupon for my sister. So fine, I agreed to go get my card and purchase a separate tan for full price. As I was walking back, it didn't sit right with how she spoke to me. So I asked to please show me where, in the Groupon, it reads this rule. She grabbed my phone and began to read the part about one purchase per person. I let her know how I interpreted it, which she then repeated her sentence. Again, I let her know that's not what the Groupon means. So this time, she reads the sentence again, slowly, and follows with "do you understand me?!" Now, I look young but don't talk to me like I'm stupid. I asked if there was a policy written somewhere else that read what she was telling me and she repeated Over and Over it was in the contract, but refused to show me. Eventually, I just decided to ask the guy to help me purchase a spray tan for my little sister. Again, she butts in and tells me I cannot purchase one. Confused, I asked him why not and clarify that I'm asking to purchase one for full price. She then goes on to tell me I need to buy another Groupon. I said "oh, so if I were to walk in to this salon right now and ask to purchase a spray tan, you'd say someone has to buy a spray tan on Groupon? Although 5 minutes ago, you told me the offer is no longer available?" At this point, I was heated and told her I was not talking to her anymore and wanted him to help me. She refused to allow him to help me himself. She was clearly looking for any reason to be a condescending bitch and at that point, I no longer believed it had anything to do with what I was saying. Not to mention, her interaction with the other WHITE customers was not equal at all. She knew she was wrong because she was visibly nervous when it came to having to address me and refused to look me in the eyes as I waited. She kindly let the other women know they would be helped in just a second, with a smile on her face. Had I been a older white lady, maybe she would have had more respect. But I'm a young Latina who she felt she could disrespect. I was looking to try a new tanning spot, since my last one closed. I heard a lot of great things about this place and it's nearby where I live, so I thought I'd try it out. But once I use my remaining two tans, I will never again return and I'll be sure to let everyone I know about this experience. She was not only condescending to me but to the employee. I understand policies but 1) maybe they should be more clear and readily available to show customers and 2)a "manager" should never treat or speak to a customer the way she did. The manager is rude, racist, condescending, and clearly shady. Girl, you're a grown woman who works full time at a tanning salon. You have no reason to think you're above anyone. You may be in Willow Glen but us people of color do exist and deserve the same service. I got one a month unlimited tan here which is now over. I just Love the front counter ladies! Very professional. Also very sweet and helpful. I want to give a special thanks to Nacole. She went beyond when I joined to help me. There was another gal wish I got here name. She helped me to pick my tanning lotion since I couldn't make a decision with so many options and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a big bottle. They ended up selling out of the one I wanted and went and got another bottle from one of there other locations. Talk about customer service! So I signed up for what I thought was a 3 month membership, and here I am a year later, didn't realize I was still paying for a membership I thought I didn't have. Coming to their crappy cancellation policy. Like previous reviews, you can't cancel in-store. YOu have to snail mail to Morgan Hill, (I even called you can't drop it off there). So yes, certified mail at my expense, and it still will take 14 days to cancel upon RECEIPT of letter. (Why 14 days, who knows!) And yes, upon receipt of letter, so is that when they decide to open it? So, now I will be paying ANOTHER month, Jan 2010. This is absolutely ridiculous. Don't ever go here. Also, line-ups the 3 times I actually went in 2008. Not impressed. I will take my chances with the sun. Shame on you Australian Tanning company. read more

I'm always wary of tanning places...they'll upsell you, oversell you, shame you into buying unnecessary packages and lotions, etc. Not at all with this Australian Tan location. The girls (and one dude!) were extremely helpful in explaining the different packages and beds, and didn't automatically recommend the most expensive option. In fact, they offered me the most economical choice based on what I needed (memberships range from $25/month to $75/month). And when I wanted to downgrade, there were no issues. Beds are clean, bulbs are strong. Yeah, the Level 1 beds are pretty weak, but...well, you get what you pay for. I've never had to wait for a bed, even at peak times. read more

My first time at this place. I've used spray tan booths in the past at other places. I like that this one uses the VersaSpa which I feel gives a very natural color compared to Mystic Tan. I usually go for the level 2 but I had an event going on the same night and wanted to be as dark as possible before I had to rinse it off in the 4 hours that I had so I went with the level 3. The worker there was really friendly and answered all my questions about the different levels. I'm glad I went with the level 3, it was the right amount of darkness I wanted to be.
