I'v been going to Cafe Italia for some time now. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have tried several things on the menu and never been disappointed. My favorite dish is the chicken marsala. OMG it is so good. The restaurant makes me feel good just walking in the door, the service is always good and the waitstaff are always friendly. The prices are fair and the food is delicous. If you read the bad review from the idiot who was unhappy with everything just ignore him. Sounds like he would be unhappy with a gold egg laying goose. Lou O. read more

Came here because of the good reviews and the nice small-business vibe. The place appears to be family run. We started with the fried mozzarella, and the moment I saw them I knew exactly what was coming with the entrees. Straight from the Sysco truck. They are charging $9 for five, and they tasted exactly how you'd expect, premade and nothing special. Then the entrees came out. Alfredo and lasagna. I didn't like either of them. Honestly, whatever. I guess I fell victim again to another small business dump. Then I go to pay. They don't do real receipts, everything is handwritten, so I didn't even know the total until it was time to pay. It came out to $46, which seemed off, but I brushed it off and paid. It kept bothering me though because I don't like being taken advantage of, so I went back and asked for a price breakdown. I was met with a very defensive and rude manager who was completely unhelpful. She told me the salads we were offered, which I did not order, cost extra because they were Caesar salads. Mind you, I wasn't even going to order a salad. The waitress told me it came with the entree. No upcharge was mentioned when I ordered, so of course I assumed it was included with the meal. Apparently not. The manager told me it was listed on the menu and that it was my fault for not reading it more carefully. She refused to refund the salads because I had already eaten them. When I asked for my tip back, she said no to that too. I'm sorry... the tip I added on top voluntarily? Eventually she did give the tip back, but only after arguing about it. Needless to say, I will be disputing this charge with my bank. I do not pay for things that were offered or promoted as free. Take your money somewhere else. Go to the Cheesecake Factory or literally anywhere else. Don't waste your time here. Small businesses like this are exactly why people stop supporting them. read more

I asked the server if this was accurate he replied yes...Wow. for my meal, I ordered the trio which was good and flavorful, my husband ordered the seafood plate with mussell ,shrimp and scallops, these were hardly scallops...tiny pieces of scallops. Great selection of fresh luncheon specials, offering choice of salad or soup of the day with most lunches/dinners. This was my first time eating at Cafe Italia and I was not impressed. The food was ok, but the sevice was terrible. My server made me feel unwelcome there. The bus boy did more for me than my server did. She didn't even remember my appetizer. It was just some fried mushrooms. It wasn't until after my entree was served that they tried to give them to me. She didn't even try to refill my tea until I was almost finished eating. I haven't left a restaurant without tipping in more than 3 decades, but this time it was deserved. read more

Oh, how first impressions can fail. After becoming a somewhat regular of Italia, we began to see a gradual decline in the quality of the food. We always get to go (just one inside visit) so always get our food nicely packed and ready for carrying. The real problem is that the food just isn't prepared to a high level of consistency or to decent quality. My wife almost always ordered the Chicken Forest and me either Chicken Parm or Alfredo. She quit with the Forrest because she said the chicken was just coming back too well done. She went with Shrimp Florentine this time and liked it but thought it needed more spinach and mushrooms. MY chicken was actually burned on the underside. Burned. Italia isn't right around the corner so it's a major inconvenience to return it. I would have if we were inside. There were spots it was actually burned to the bottom of the aluminum pan it was delivered in. Just not sure we're willing to give them another shot...the quality has fallen off since our first visits...and this last one was very disappointing. read more

We have wanted to try this joint out and although the food was good we might just do take out next time. Like I said no complaints on the food, it was delicious. Plating was very appealing and pricing did not seem out of line. However they did run out of the soup of the day, we were there at 6pm and they close at 10pm. Also the special was steak and it was over cooked. The atmosphere was decent however the staff were just "there". No one was rude but they were definitely not the friendliest. When we go to eat we want both good food and a friendly staff. Here we feel cheated because we only received one. read more

Pretty decent italian-american food in the corpus area. Probably would give 3.5 stars, but it's also a reasonable price for what you get, so rounding up to 4. My friend and I chose Cafe Italia for supper as we walked inside we were greeted and shown to a table. Our waiter was Luis and he was dressed in black and was very sharp in appearance and treated us very well. As soon as we walked in the establishment you could smell Italian food cooking the smell was awesome. My friend and I both chose the Lasagna and with it you were given a choice of soup or salad. My friend chose the soup and I chose the salad with ranch dressing and for Appetizer we chose fried mushrooms and with it came tomato sauce. The appetizer came the fried mushrooms nothing glorious but the sauce was absolutely wonderful. Upon dipping the mushrooms into the sauce the taste was phenomenal. I loved it. The salad and soup were good but the lasagna was awesome and dipping some of the bread I the excess tomato sauce used in the lasagna was delicious was wonderful The entire meal was absolutely wonderful and Luis was professional, prompt, courteous. Excellent service with a definite Texas accented server. And we have concluded they need to bottle that garlic lemon butter sauce!!! The Chicken Francese Lunch Special was over the top- chicken was lightly breaded and not over cooked. The fried calamari appetizer was tender although sadly our first choice of fried ravioli was not available. I visited last week for lunch because of the high Yelp scores. Upon arriving shortly after noon, I was sorry to see a basically empty restaurant of diners which is so sad during this era of Covid. Anyway, after being seated and looking at the lunch menu, I decided on some seafood and found it on the dinner menu. My order was for the seafood combo meal that comes with a side salad for about $18. While listening to the traditional Frank, Dean (i.e. Italian) music and enjoying it, I began with the bread and salad that arrived followed by the entree 15 minutes later. It was all very good! The plate had a lot of mussels, shrimp and scallops in a garlicky red sauce over house made pasta and was delish. I would be happy to order this again. Surprising little Italian restaurant next to the Walmart in a strip mall. So many choices, so little room in the stomach to eat them all! Fresh baked rolls nice and warm are brought to your table. The dipping oil you can ask for is really good and full of herbs. Cheese lovers paradise! Most of their dishes have the melted, stringy goodness all over perfect for the rolls! Visiting from the DFW area. Hidden gem in Corpus. Got the suggestion from Yelp. Great decision!!! We ordered the calamari and fried mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. Calamari is surprisingly difficult to over cook. Only need about 60-90 seconds to deep fry. It was cooked perfectly. 4 people in our party. We ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, Veal Parmesan, Italian Trio (Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan & Fettuccine Alfredo) and a slice of cheese pizza. All were fantastic. But, the pièce de ré·sis·tance was the bread dipping oil. Wow!! They had all the herbs and spices in the oil. The dipping oil alone is worth going to Cafe Italia. Service was good. Wine (Pinot Noir) was great and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The menu was a standard Italian cuisine. A good variety of choices. Want to go back to try something different. read more

If you have eaten true Italian food before, don't even try to step foot on this place. The spaghetti bolognese is bizarre to say the least. No red sauce, it's some strange shade of light pinkish orange sauce... the meat that they use is not of good quality. Same for the lasagna, it's probably some fake horrible meat.
