Scheduled a call to review my needs and was able to get into Eric's schedule for a Friday assessment. The gym is quaint and quiet, I've driven by a million times. The parking is a bit odd, a few spots up front where you have to reverse onto S Lamar when exiting...sooo that can be a challenge. They have parking in the rear of the building which is great however there is a single entry way and well, not sure how multiple cars could park and get out. Just know your reverse skills need to be on point. The gym inside has everything you'd need and since it's not open to the public it's just the clients and trainers. That means no waiting for machines and no one looking at you while you're there. Eric is great, he's very easy to talk to and made the whole experience easy. Upon arrival we walked through the questionnaire filled out online to find out the why behind the personal training inquiry. He then did a body scan for weight and fat %, took blood pressure three times as well. Gave a quick tour of the gym and how things work then it was onto the physical movement assessment. Nothing too crazy, range of motion and flexibility tasks. Took an hour for the initial visit and came back the next day to finish a few small exercises then learn the warm up needed prior to sessions. No membership needed as you buy the session in backs, 5, 10, 20 and can be used how you want. Like that there's no long term contract to sign. Session will start in the next week or so with focus on building/repairing the base/functional imbalances before getting into the fun part. Time will tell how this goes, wish me luck!

In the past year…read moreworking out with him as my trainer 3x a week (from February 25-February 26) I lost 15 pounds... now it's May I've lost 20, but honestly, that is only a surface component of the impact I've felt. More importantly, I drink so much less without really noticing, I eat better and I've built muscle and carved out a lean version of me that's much stronger and less achy than the me I've known for so long. I feel stronger and more stable in my body than I have in my adulthood, and it really does make me feel like I have more energy. I think because I do. Nick's approach goes far beyond just "working out." He has helped me improve my stability, mobility, posture, and overall strength in a way that feels sustainable and deeply functional. It's also just so pleasant to work out with him, I never dread the gym because we go hard, but not so hard that you just want to get out of there, and yet the results are still great!One of the biggest changes I've noticed is in my shoulders and neck. I've had long-time sloped shoulders and neck tension that used to bother me by the end of every workday, and now I'm moving through my days essentially pain-free. Nick is thoughtful, knowledgeable, humble, encouraging, and incredibly good at building a program around your actual body, your goals, and your life. I feel stronger, healthier, more confident, and more connected to my body because of his training. I cannot recommend Nick enough!! Mind you that I had been in physical therapy for 9 months prior to TrainLifeFit seeing me--the pt had helped but pain relief and correct posture only lasted 2 hours after each session. I was pleasantly shocked at the relief Sumair provided, corrected my posture by releasing muscles that were constricted and he explained to me that my weak lats were a big source of my issues. Going into my second session, I'm feeling confident that my correct posture will return and my pain vanished, hoping to avoid surgery.

I had an extreme lack of mobility, and my pain was at about a 7 or 8 every day. I was limping around at age 36 like a much older person. At that point I had tried everything - tons of physical therapy, 4 different trainers, chiropractors, massage...nothing worked. When I began with Sumair, I couldn't do much of anything. I mean, I had zero range of motion and very little strength. If you're feeling self conscious or scared, please don't let that stop you, we have all been there, and I would argue that is where TrainLifeFit really shines. Sumair has built TLF to be a holistic program. What makes it so great is that it is a body/mind/emotions program. What does it matter if you can do a proper push up if your mind has been programmed to believe that you CAN'T do things because you "just don't have the body for it"? Because I am petite and small, that's what I had been told. I'd also been told that my pain was just my "new normal," and to get used to it, so Sumair also had to help me overcome my sad sad sad mental programming about my body. He also taught me about mechanics and how to recognize what was going on with my body. That understanding was reinforced through the homework he gave me, so now I have the ability to identify what's happening and work through it on my own. That's important for the other days when I'm not training with him, and I cannot overstate how much it improved my relationship with my body. I now understand it and know what it needs. So my result is, less than a year later, my pain is at about a 1. I have gained significant strength, stability and muscle mass. My winter coat didn't fit this year because my arms and back had gotten bigger! My mobility is excellent and I have recently begun to run again, an activity I had been told wasn't available for me anymore. But most importantly, I trust my body. I know it is capable of much more than I had been told. I understand it, I have a vocabulary to describe what is happening with it, and I no longer treat it like an annoying employee by getting frustrated when it doesn't do what I say. So you can train anywhere. But if you want a transformation, I recommend TrainLifeFit.

I believe that training body building with Dave Goodin belongs to this list. Who's Dave Goodin without his 5x World Championships and 3x Mr. Universe? He's a professional personal trainer with a Masters Degree in exercise physiology and almost 30 years of experience. He is regarded as the Arnold Schwarzenegger of natural body building. Here's some context about my fitness level before/after I met Dave. I'm a self-confessed workaholic. I half jokingly say that I love the concept of a 40h work week so much that I've been doing it twice every week for several years. but it was being detrimental to my own health. I've been living a sedentary lifestyle for many years. as I've recently turned 40, I decided to make it a priority in my life to lead a healthier lifestyle and get in shape before it was too late. Since I had lower back issues, I wanted to work with a seasoned trainer that would respect my limits and help me prevent injuries. I also consider it important to have an efficient system in place for each applicable area of your life (financial, health, etc). Dave will guide you on your own journey and help you achieve your goals. that being said, there are no shortcuts, there is no silver bullet. It takes a lot tenacity, consistency, commitment, motivation. There's a lot of mis-information out there on the internet, health companies trying to sell you fad diet programs, products, magazines, etc Dave has a wealth of knowledge and helped me debunk several fitness myths. He actually teaches you his system so you become well versed in maintaining a healthy lifestyle on your own. He trains a wide range of clients from teenagers trying to boost self image, families wanting to get in better shape together, all the way to professional body builders and athletes getting ready for competitions. if you want to train like a pro, go with the best in the industry. I wholeheartedly recommend Dave.

There is a nice shower amenity. The best thing about TCS is the coaching staff! This place is not a lift as heavy as you can as many times as you can no matter how you do it or what it does to your body. It's a place to learn how to lift correctly, take care of your body, and build the type and amount of muscle that you want to feel strong and healthy. Elliott, Kristina, and Travis are passionate about helping people learn correct technical form to avoid injury, and they are all really good at adjusting workouts to make them work for you even if you have pre-existing injuries. I trust them all to keep me safe at the gym and to teach me new techniques. They make working out fun and interesting. And the music is always on point! The next best thing about TCS is the inviting community. Everyone there is so kind and welcoming. You should definitely check out TCS if you want to learn and get strong! **The location has changed! I was able to secure a $30 per month membership since I signed a contract for 12 months, and that grants me access to any location that is the same or lower tier. I have been to cycling classes with Megan Smith and yoga classes with Kayur Patel. Both instructors are so friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. All the staff members that work out at the front desk are so friendly, the always greet me and say goodbye. I was surprised to see so many lifting platforms and different machines I have never seen before. The only complaints that I have is that since this is an older gym, many of equipment is dinged up, but still operable. Also, instead of a posing room, I wished they used the space for a more functional amenity, like a hydromassage bed or a red-light therapy bed. If you are looking for an affordable gym where you can get a great cardio and/or strength training work out, this establishment is a great option since they have a vast variety of machines and equipment.
