Gundega's Yoga classes are a great work out, and help me better cope with demands from a stressful job. I find Yoga to be a great way to clear my mind, build strength, and tone muscle. I always feel amazing after class and the following day. The studio is in a residential neighborhood in North Austin which I remember feeling much less intimidating than attending for the first time at a big studio. Gundega is a great teacher, very instructive and knowledgable, and always keeps the mood positive and light. Classes are well attended but never uncomfortably large at the studio. Highly recommended!

They also have a boutique selling nice workout clothing, grip socks and fancy water bottles. I did the hour long barre class yesterday and it was an excellent workout. Hollie instructed the fast paced class with grace and before I knew it the hour was over. They also offer other classes like Mod Burn which incorporates high intensity training and Barre 50 (shorter class). There are new client specials and I purchased an Austin Tidbits deal of 3 weeks for $49. If you like barre you will love Mod Fitness.

My new favorite place for Barre classes in north-central ATX. The studio is clean, simple, small. It's a house turned fitness studio, with about 6 parking spots in back, and street parking in front. I've never had a problem finding parking, morning or evening. There is a small area for your belongings, a front desk (with a friendly face posted up), 2 clean restrooms, and the work out room. The walls are lined with mirrors and barres, of course. During the barre classes (my favorite), you will need a mat, ball, small hand weights, and a strap (all provided). You literally work every part of your body. Upper, lower, middle, front, back... you get the idea. Every time I attend, I find myself surprised at the exercises that are new to me. I'm a DVD and workout class junkie, and to learn new exercises excites me! You will work your lower half to the point of shakes and earthquakes around the barre, all by being pushed in an encouraging way. All the instructors are just awesome. I appreciate the countdown (just 8 more seconds... etc), which usually leads to an isometric hold... which leads to 8 pulses, then relax (8 more is a white lie). I leave MOD feeling like a goddess. Get your booty to the barre and get ready to work! I love MOD!

When a class is full, they put you on a waitlist and I've never not gotten promoted from the waitlist. They contact everyone who's signed up and ask them to cancel if they're not going to make it, so people on the waitlist can get in. Other than a couple-minute orientation the first time you attend, there is no individual attention in the Pilates classes. I went in with a decent fitness level and zero Pilates experience, but in hindsight it would've been good to look up some mat Pilates basics on Youtube before my first class. Everyone one staff is super nice. Attendees mostly keep to themselves. You probably won't make a new gym bestie. But for people who want no nonsense, it's great.

All the instructors are so great and professional and put their own twist on their classes. The prices are very affordable, the studio is very clean and just a no frills kind of place where you focus on basic equipment. This is amazing because it means it's very easy to replicate your own studio at home or when you travel. I have been feeling a lot stronger and my lower back pain is completely gone. I love the excercises and they are so inclusive, no matter your strength level. The real 6 stars for me is the flexibility to do classes remote or in person, live or pre recorded. This is a true game changer and is the sole reason I'm able to stay consistent with my 3x a week workout schedule. I will be a customer for a very long time!

Ann's crew of skilled Pilates trainers are friendly and concerned with meeting your particular needs. I started going as a complete novice, not even sure what Pilates is. Now I know it is one of the best ways to: improve posture, build and tone muscle, lose weight, recover from injury, prevent injury (especially back), prevent or treat osteoporosis, increase flexibility and get a whole body workout. Erin Leary, my usual trainer, has been encouraging and patient with me along the way. I recommend working with her or any of the talented people at the studio. My advice if you're thinking about trying it- go for 5 sessions and get the idea of what it's about. Your body will probably be so grateful that you won't want to stop. That's what happened to me and I've lost 15 pounds, I actually have a waistline now and some pretty awesome muscles in my arms and legs. Additionally, my chronically bad posture is majorly improved as well as my general well-being. I intend to stay a client at Ann Arnoult's indefinitely because it is honestly the best thing I have ever done for my health! p.s. some people think Pilates is only for women but plenty of men go to Ann Arnoult's too!

I usually do doubles and buy a 10 class card to save a little money. I see Gabel on Mondays and Anne on Friday's and I absolutely love how balanced, taller and more fit I feel after every session. This is helpful if you wanna go somewhere else or happen to be on one side of town. The instructors are all amazing. Caroline, Rebecca, Valerie, Audrey, Paige and Jennifer are all so kind. Not to forget Ella! I know there are a few others I'm leaving out. The studio is compact with one restroom/changing room. The cubby area is ample for one class so depending on when you arrive for yours you may have to wait to grab one. The equipment is in good shape. Noticed that the weights will leave marks if holding the ends tight. Things I'm not a fan of, not sure how often the studio is vacuumed. Lately since the new year the classes are extra full. Sometimes a little too full where you're limited on space and can't use full range of motion. Thankfully it's not enough to deter me yet from continuing my Pure Barre journey.

Google will take you to 6th St but the entrance is actually on 5th St. There is an adjacent parking garage, but since it was Sunday, I was able to park on a nearby street for free. The lobby is as small as the ones in the other studios. I really wish we had more room to take our shoes off/on and stash our stuff! There is a retail section as well to pick up some sticky socks along with apparel. At this location all the equipment is inside the room, so fill up your water bottle, secure your spot at the barre, and then collect your props from the back corner. Valerie C was teaching today's class and she is awesome! Be sure to check her out on the schedule. Your glutes will thank you for it!
