I made a appt with this pep boys to get a new car battery. In what was actually not their fault,…read morethey were very behind and I had to wait close to two hours. i did feel that potentially they were priced a lot higher than necessary when I paid However, neither of these things were truly the issue. The next day after I got my battery replaced my car started making a grinding noise when I started it and when idling. My car is still under warranty so I didn't want to take it anywhere but the service at the dealership so I wouldn't have to pay. as it turns out, pep boys didn't put my battery in correctly and messed up part of the air filter causing it to "grind" against the fans. This luckily DIDNT do damage to the fans but easily could I have! I am very disappointed with the situation! will not be returning

This was the shop I was referred to. Stay AWAY. I can only recap my experience. I gave them my car. I locked the door. They were only supposed to put new tires on. They were closing. So I had to leave it over night. I picked it up the next day. Thought all was in order. I did notice they left my car unlocked when I approached. Just thought they rushed with the clean up. Things were spilled on the pavement from the inside. Which come to find out I had items stolen from it. After speaking with the manager, I find out leave your car unlocked over night without adequate cameras. They don't care much for details for protecting your property, doubt their work is much different.

Take 5 Oil Change

I had a very serious issue after getting an oil change at Take 5 Oil Change located at 7756…read moreCrestwood Blvd, Birmingham, AL. On May 12, 2026, I brought my 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV Luxury in for an oil change. My vehicle was driving perfectly fine before I arrived. To be honest, I was hesitant about getting my vehicle serviced there from the moment I pulled into the service bay. Most of the employees appeared very young and were laughing, joking, and playing around while customers were being serviced. One employee seemed to be socializing with the customer in Bay 1, and it did not even appear that her vehicle was actively being serviced because they were laughing and talking so much. The atmosphere did not seem very professional, which immediately made me uncomfortable. Customers remain inside their vehicles during service. I was in Bay 2, and an employee named Cody was standing beside my driver's door entering my information into the computer. During the oil change, he said, "Crank it up." Believing he was speaking to me, I started my vehicle. He immediately said he was talking to the customer in Bay 1. I turned my vehicle off and asked if it caused any damage, and I was told no. They completed the oil change, and I paid and left. As soon as I pulled out of the service bay, my truck began making a terrible noise that it had never made before. I immediately returned to the shop. They changed the oil a second time, but the noise remained. At that time, Cody admitted that the oil gasket was either off or partially off when the vehicle was started. Take 5 arranged to have my Escalade towed to Cadillac of Birmingham. Cadillac diagnosed the vehicle with internal engine damage, and my truck remains at the dealership because it is not drivable. Since then, I have been given the runaround. Cadillac informed me that Take 5 and RPM would not be paying for the repairs, yet no one from corporate or RPM has contacted me directly. When I returned to the store, the previous admissions regarding what happened had changed, and I still cannot get anyone from corporate to return my calls. This experience has been extremely stressful. My vehicle was operating perfectly before the oil change, the problem occurred immediately after the service, and my vehicle is now unusable. I am posting this review because I believe customers deserve accountability, professionalism, and proper communication when something goes wrong.

I had my coolant changed in Mobile, AL branch. The next day traveling home to the Birmingham area,…read moremy truck started running hot. I called Take 5 several times and put on hold 10+ minutes without anyone answering. Finally a lady helped me out by contacting the Mobile branch on an unposted number. The Mobile manager made arrangements for me to visit another Take 5 at 7756 Crestwood Blvd. I go there, the technicians remove the coolant cap and add a little coolant and tell me to take for a ride. I go maybe two miles and it runs hot again. I turn around and go back. When I pull in, the technician tells me their General Manager told them not to touch it and there was nothing they could do at their Take 5. The Mobile, AL manager was great and would've helped but I was 3.5 hour drive away. THE TAKE AWAY: I found out that Take 5 has both franchise locations and corporate locations. My understanding from what I've been told is the franchise locations are only required to top off fluids but are NOT required to honor any service "issues" they didn't do. I would NOT recommend Take 5 to anyone who travels outside of their home/local area. I will not use Take 5 anymore due to their policy and the lack of regard the manager at this store had for me, a Take 5 customer. Again, the manager at the Mobile, AL store was more than willing to help but due to distance, was unable to.

The young man that took my information was told that I needed brakes, shocks, and flushing of all fluids which would cost well over a thousand dollars. I refused and said just fix the mount please. It was about 20 min later, the manager came over and said that I needed brakes and the shocks were all 90% gone front and back. I refused again and said just fix the mount. The 3rd time, the manager took me to the service department. The mechanic had all the wheels off, and the manager then said, "Legally maam I have to show you the brakes and that you badly need brakes. I cannot be legally liable if you get in an accident." He scared me so bad, that I said just do the front ones. He said he would take $100 off if I had all of them done. I said ok if it's really that bad. He then gave me a bill of $900.00 with an itemized list of all the things wrong with this car. I then took my car to another establishment to see if in fact I do need shocks. The new establishment (Mr. Carburetor) on Pipken, said absolutely not. Your shocks are fine. Does Mavis in Lakeland do this to everyone that is a senior. Scare them to death to do mechanical work? You lost a customer in me.
