Our animal rescue a last minute run to pick up dogs/puppies at risk. We found out on Sunday and we were heading out Tuesday am to make the 12 hour trip. The most INSANELY great customer service. Face place to get an oil change, filters and car maintenance. I have been coming here for 10 years and it will never change. The guys are kind, quick and knowledgeable. They price match, they help break down the costs and they make everything so easy to understand. Came in with a Groupon for a basic oil change and asked for rear brake pads. Somehow that turned into a $1,456.67 invoice packed with every flush, fluid swap, and "recommended service" imaginable--most of which the vehicle owner never agreed to. My partner's quick "okay" was treated like full authorization for a small novel's worth of repairs. That isn't customer service. That's predatory upselling with a smile. I've trusted their Addison location for years, so I made the mistake of assuming the Lombard shop had the same standards. It does not. Be extremely careful bringing your vehicle here. Ask for written authorization before anything is touched. Better yet, go somewhere else entirely. I'll be telling friends, family, and strangers to stay far away from this location after this experience. read more

Disappointing and Untrustworthy Experience at Lombard Location I've been a loyal customer of Auto Plus after discovering them through my community college. The Addison location has always been reliable, with friendly staff and transparent pricing. Unfortunately, my experience at the Lombard location was the complete opposite. As an autistic woman, I often feel vulnerable in situations where clear communication is crucial, and this visit was unsettling from the start. I initially tried to cancel my appointment, but I was "baited" into a tow I didn't expect or knew they offered. I was quoted one price verbally, only to be charged nearly double once I received the call back. The lack of transparency mirrored what I experienced when I dropped the car off; when I asked about the cost of the service itself. I was given no clear answer except that it would be "free if I did the service with them"--meaning I would have to commit to a costly repair or face a nearly $400 bill just to release my broken car. So of course when my service total was almost $700 it would look cheaper by comparison. The service manager's response only added to my frustration. When I called to address the issue, I was told I was essentially mistaken or lying about the information provided to me. I was initially quoted around $85 for the tow, which ballooned to $149 for a brief 17-minute, 14-mile trip--unreasonably high, considering I've previously been quoted around $220-250 for a tow from Oak Park to Naperville. This experience left me feeling swindled and dismissed.I also reached out and left a voicemail on Wednesday of this week and never got a call back or response until I had to reach out again this Friday morning. The Lombard location's pricing seems significantly above market average, and I felt taken advantage of. I'll be returning to the Addison location for any minor repairs moving forward and would caution anyone, especially women, disabled individuals, or those who value transparency, to think twice before visiting the Lombard location. read more

Hmmm, I'm feeling hoodwinked the more I reflect on this now.... I've been going to this location for years, and brought my one-year-old car in for its 20,000-mile recommended service. Thought it would essentially just be an oil change, tire rotation, and basic checkup, but was told by the associate at the counter before even checking any levels, etc. that "looks like that would also entail a fuel injection flush and brake fluid exchange." Nervous about maintaining this car's perfect running shape and trusting their expertise, I went ahead with the extra $400, but after getting home and looking it up a little more, neither was on the manufacturer's suggestion for 20,000 miles and, at a minimum, the fuel injection flush was completely unnecessary for a vehicle in this new a condition. Feel like there's been a bit of a shift at this location...been a loyal client there for years because with the previous manager & front counter, I always felt like they went out of their way to make sure they weren't selling you unnecessary maintenance or repairs, and they even repaired a longstanding & recurring issue with my previous vehicle for free because of something the manufacturer wouldn't cover. Now this seems like a blatant upsell and taking advantage of customer naiveté in the moment. I'll own not going in armed with better info and questioning it then and there, but I used to not have to worry about doing that with the prior staff here. Now? Not so sure. All good things do come to an end. I have been going to these guys in Aurora first then Lombard for probably over 2 decades. Trusted them. They were fair, reasonably priced and treated women with respect. 2 weeks ago went for an oil change. They didn't rotate the tires because the tread was the same. I understood that, however, Costco needed them rotated for the warranty. Then they tell me I needed a new water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and coolant flush for $1000. Said the water pump was leaking, because they said it was damp. After calling other facilities, the red flags going off. Several other places said, no need for a coolant change because it is already being changed!!! That was $200 they wanted FOR NOTHING! They asked me if I have heating or cooling issues, no I don't. Thermostat not needed, another $100. They asked me if I had leaking from my engine, no I don't, another $500-600. Took it to another place who charged me $80 to tell me I didn't need anything, that there was no leaking at all, per their pressure test. Never going to Auto Plus again (I believe they were bought out.) And they really should be paying my $80 charge since they were the ones who made me go to another place with their false claims of needing service. Then I also went to Costco to get tires rotated. Yet another waste of time. Additionally, previous times I was there, they said needed tires (I went another year before I had to replace) and that I needed brakes (went another 8 months before replacement). Each of these was about $1000 bill. Severely disappointed as to where this place has gone to. Done. UPDATE: Just spoke to Rafael who says the water pump was only recommended because they saw dried coolant. His response "I'm not going to pay you $80 for a pressure test." If you can tag them for a Groupon for an oil change, go for it, it was a sweet deal. HOWEVER, BE VERY CAREFUL of their UP-SELL. They tried to tell me my tire tread was too low BUT I had it rechecked by a tire shop and the tires were still had usable tread left. Also they recommend many services (auto trans fluid change, brake fluid change, etc.) at 50K mileage BUT when you check the owner's manual it says to inspect only. Again USE YOU COMMONSENSE and do an internet search. read more

My 82 year old mother, living on a fixed income, went in for $100 oil change and came out with almost a $900 bill. In addition to the $100 oil change and filter, she apparently needed a serpentine belt for $275. In addition they told her she needed a transmission fluid exchange, $210, a fuel injection flush $220 and an engine wash and recheck for leaks $48. The bill was $889. They also said come back to find the oil leak. There is $500 worth of work she definitely did not need. She trusted them, because in reality, you should be able to trust your mechanic and she's 82. She's been going there for years and believed they are good. Trusted them! Seniors don't expect to be taken advantage of like that, and they shouldn't have to. They don't typically think that way. They could have said "we offer these products but they are not necessary." Unfortunately, there are scumbags everywhere you look. I have been here a couple of times for just basic oil changes and I have had really unusual things happen once I've left. The weirdest was that my engine was painted over with silver paint after a oil change and evaluation. **First Time Customer sharing my experience at their Lombard location on 11/16/21** I have found my new go to mechanics and will gladly make the 50+ minute drive from now on based on such a terrific job and a wonderful customer service experience!!! (I live in Chicago) I got my car serviced here using a Groupon and I will definitely be back with or without any kind of discount or deal. Not only did they do a great job, they were timely, friendly and most of all HONEST!!! A true, no BS, honest mechanic and/or dealership maintenance department is like finding a fully employed millennial or a gen z with no social media platform or account. (I'm one of y'all but with a job) Lolol :*) I came to CK Auto for regular maintenance and was also expecting to have an additional service that the last place I took my car to told me I needed ASAP. And that was after buying 4 new tires from them. At the moment, I declined and said I'd have it done next time. After arriving at CK Auto, I told them what was recommended to me by this other place. They said they would look into it before starting any work. After checking everything out, the manager came back and told me everything was fine. The readings were where they were supposed to be and I didn't need to have anything done at this time. His customer service was above and beyond, his patience and the time he spent explaining everything was such a wonderful change of pace. We, as a country, are losing the importance of what it means to have respect and basic working rapport between the patrons and the employees. Everyone has an attitude and acts like we, the people funding their paychecks, are annoying them ,inconveniencing them, and act like they are doing us a favor. Especially if you have a question, need any type of help or have any issues with their products or services. Unfortunately this is happening in every type of businesses and services everywhere. From healthcare to law enforcement, security, paid legal advice, restaurants, fast food, teacher's, professors, educational institutions, retail and grocery stores, airports, salons and beauty service, ect.,ect., The big oil change service stations are another one and they are all about upselling and pushing unnecessary products and services on unknowledgeable customer's, (e.g., non-mechanics, people who only pay others to get the job done and many others who know nothing about cars and hope these places do the right thing and don't screw them out of their hard earned money). The man that reviewed everything with me and his guys were awesome. The best part was saving me almost $200 on something I didn't need. He could have easily done it and charged me since I had asked to have it done basing it on another mechanics recommendation. Most honest and cooperative auto repair people I've ever met. I took my car in for a simple oil change. I went to them because they were highly rated on Yelp and close to work. My oil change cost me a bundle...NOT because Auto Plus over-charged me or did extra unnecessary stuff. It cost so much because the last 3 places I went did not tell me what the car really needed and the other places basic oil change cost more than Auto Plus. Dustin (I think that was his name, Young good-looking red head up front) saved me a bundle on future work and headaches. He also gained a customer for life! If I could cuss and scream I would ! There were 3 things that CK touched on my truck. 1. OIL change (they stripped the drain plug) I found on the next oil change at a reputable mechanic.(I have the picture) 2. Valve cover gasket replaced (It started leaking the next day and dripping onto my exhaust) 3. Coil on cylinder one ( was told was a quality part from ford OEM and it failed 2 months later- I have the receipt and test ) 10-24 If any thing else fails due to CK I will sue the crap out of them.
