I have been coming to this location as well as their Palo Alto location at least once a week for the past 3 years. I have always been satisfied with their work in general. I have to say that I'm not a very picky person when it comes to car wash. By that I mean I don't expect perfection when it comes to my weekly car washes because I've been to many places that offer worse experiences before. So as long as they are friendly and provide pretty clean results in general, that's fine with me. After all, I'm not paying for a Detail. And I don't think expecting perfection when there are many cars lining up and you want them have your car done in 20 minutes is fair demand. Overall, I'm happy with them in both locations (haven't been to their other locations.) The check-in person, cashiers, and the last person who leads you to the washes car are always friendly. The Redwood City location has cleaner bathrooms than the Palo Alto location, but the latter offers 5-minute, exterior-only express wash that has come hardy for me many times. So I frequent both locations depending on where I am and which service I need. I'd like to add that Michael from their Redwood City location has always been friendly and helpful. I love the people who work there!! I have been a member since 2017 and I love all the managers they have had like Lee and Alfredo have been my favorite!! Always addressing stuff in my car that needs to be cleaned!! Now I only go in IF I HAVE TO!!! I really don't care to pay my membership fee as long as I don't have to see the new manager ALICIA!!!! She is SOOOOOOO RUDE!!! I paid for my mats to be cleaned so on one May it was left dirty so Lee told me to bring it back and I did and the day I came in Lee was off so I told ALICIA and it was 5pm and she gave me THE WORST ATTITUDE!! She said "I can't do that we are about to close" hello "Manager ALICIA" don't you close at 6pm? And it is ONE CAR MAT!! You are telling me you can't clean ONE when you are not busy?? Definitely a great carwash! Exemplary service every time. My car has a lot of angles and nooks and there are times where they might, understandably, miss a couple of spots that are kinda hard to see. If you ask em to wash it again, they will with no fuss! Michael is the best worker they have. Very professional, knows what he's talking about, and he's very kind! Absolutely terrible experience! After wash, I asked if they could clean the handfuls of leaves and pine needles from the space between the windshield and hood and wipe a couple of spots off on the good itself. They told me they didn't have time to do that and that if I bought their $100 detail they could take care of that. They had time to take my money but not enough time, integrity or "pride" to actually complete a basic job like actually washing my car. I asked to see a manager and was told nobody was on site and there was no email or contact number to reach anyone - maybe he will be in Tuesday I was told. Exterior car wash not on my list. Regreted paying for EXP seats 75. Main objective was spillage on passenger side carpet. Swayed into paying 150. Not very clear on instructions. Drove in to ask about prices and service. Spilled caramel FRAP on passanger seat. Very hepful at explaining the service but rushy. Was not sure if I wanted to pay high price over coffee spill. Was advised to pull my car in to further discuss. As I stepped out of vehicle, a gentlement started to vacuum my car. I realized it was no longer a decision of do I want my car washed here but what services will you be paying for today. I originally went with $75 for carpet shampoo and 25 for full service hand wash. The employee suggested 75 for carpet and 75 for leather seat clraning with a conplementary service hand wash. So I went for it. Sat at waiting area.4.20 pm. Waited until 4.45pm. not sure if any process was being made, so i walk over to register and ask if i pay now or after vehicle is cleaned. she states now . Payed $150 at 4.51pm was told it will take an hour. 5.27pm finally have sight of my vehicle. 5.38pm recieved vehicle. Overall not satisfied with rushy customer service, to wait over an hour for vehicle to be cleaned. They should be more clear on instructions. read more

This place is a rip off, they didn't clean my car, I spent 15 minutes cleaning my own car with there rags, and the customer service guy Will saw he cleaning my car and did nothing. TL;DR: car wash good, Michael's service and attention to detail is amazing I went to Auto Pride on Woodside Rd for the first time today. I had a lot of sap and pollen on my car from the recent weather change and it had been a couple of months so I decided to stop and give this place a try. Price is on par with other, similar hand car washes, so no complaints there. The hand wash was pretty good. Again, on par with others. But where the real magic happened was during the drying and window washing part. A man named Michael announced when my car was ready and walked me over to my car. He mentioned that I had a bunch of scuffs/scratches on my driver side door. I knew that and was pretty bummed that I had to take it back to the leasing dealer like that. But I had been through about 10 washes since the scuffs happened and they never came out. Michael said he wanted to give his bottle of solvent a try on them with no promises. I told him to have at it. In under 5 seconds ALL the scuffs/scratches came out and my baby looks good as new! That little attention to detail, where others clearly just dried and moved on, makes Michael a real gem here! I'll definitely be returning here for my car wash needs, thanks to Michael. read more

We've been coming here since we moved to the neighborhood. They have a few packages to choose from but I go with the monthly pass. Its $50 for the month and you get to wash your car as many times as you want with the equivalent to the $30 package. Awesome deal! On top of that the staff is amazing, you can tell that they enjoy working together. Michael is exceptional, he always has a great attitude and provides recommendations before release your car to you. Time and convenience are the two most important with two young kids, and auto pride deliveries in that regard. I also like that's it's actually handwashed vs using those automated machines. I know I could do a better job but I don't have hours to devote to cleaning my car. read more

The people are nice enough but the car wash isn't worth the money. Had the monthly subscription and my car continually came out dirty. Went to cancel and the manager didn't seem to care. Four months later I decided to give them another try - car came out dirty again and they there were zero cares given. I gave my tip, despite the fact that they made sure the "Gopher pest removal van" in front of me got extra care to the point where I told I had to back my vehicle out of the line. Save your money - this place has seen better days. I'm going to go home and wash my vehicle. read more

I have to say, this is my favorite car wash around. The staff has always been friendly, professional, and their attention to detail is simply awesome. I live in an area where the trees drop all kinds of things - twigs, seeds, and leaves. All of these things collect behind the back spare tire and my front license plate. I think this is one of the problems inherent to a ratings system like yelp. Most people, if they receive what they were expecting, don't necessarily feel compelled to write a review. On the other hand, if someone is disappointed, feels cheated, or has their expectations violated, they are more likely to leave a review, since they feel a strong urge to complain, and yelp provides a convenient medium on which to express their dissatisfaction. Furthermore, when people have a negative experience, their emotions and desire for recompense get the better of them, and their rating drops to one star based solely on the one negative aspect they're complaining about. Other aspects that, if they thought about it, did not warrant such a low rating are ignored in the "heat of the moment". I've definitely been guilty of this myself. Unfortunately, as much as I like yelp and what it offers, I think we get a generally skewed perception of many businesses that do a decent job, but aren't perfect, and have their "off days" just like most folks. If more people took the time to leave a review after receiving adequate/acceptable service from a business, I think we would get a more accurate representation. The same goes for negative reviews: if people took the time to step back and consider EVERY aspect of their experience, I think they may not be quite as harsh...some one-star reviews might increase to two stars, etc. I think the same applies to this business. It seems like most of the negative reviews are one-star, and are from people who had a negative experience with ONE aspect of this business. Only a handful of reviews are from satisfied customers. In my experience, these guys did a fine job. Not perfect, but definitely what I would expect from a fast, convenient car wash for $20. They were faster than most car washes I've been to, cost the same, did as good of a job, and were just as friendly (and this was the middle of the day on Sunday, when they were quite busy). I've been to several car washes that receive a better average yelp rating, yet are no better than these guys, and took longer to do the same job on a weekday when they were far less busy. In short, I think the low average rating for this business is undeserved. In general, they seem to do exactly what you would expect from a run-of-the-mill car wash. Not perfect, but definitely better than the 2.5-star average they have received on yelp. read more

I've been taking my car to Auto Pride for several years now and have generally been reasonably satisfied with my experiences there. (Hence the extra star.) My recent experience there was an enormous disappointment. There was a friendly manager running around doing a bit of detail work and chatting customers. (First time I have ever seen this here.) I thought, "Wow. They must have changed management, and it's great to have someone kind of keeping an eye on things." Then I watched my car get wiped down. There was generally not much attention to detail, but they missed a huge swath of dirt that had been bothering me every time I opened the liftgate. I asked them to lend me a rag so I could take care of it myself right there, rather than go home and clean it. The manager cleaned that spot himself. Then I got into my car to drive off and noticed what looked like a water spot on the floor. It wasn't. It was the underside of my floor mats, which had been TORN out. (For the record, I just checked, and those floor mats are $125.95 per set.) I called this to the attention of the manager and told him this was NOT ok. Long song and dance with excuses about how the fabric is fragile, blablabla. No attempt to make amends for the damage they did. Glass is fragile, too. If you break my window while "washing" it, is that ok? I'll be taking my car elsewhere from now on. read more

I am a monthly member, which I think is a great deal, and my car is always well taken care of. Michael is generally the person who hands me back my car. I think he is a supervisor. What I appreciate is he goes over the whole car checking things like door jams and the trunk to make sure they're all detailed up. I bought a new car several months ago, and brought my car here for a car wash. I was introduced to this place because I told my friend I wanted my car to be hand washed. My first visit was during the weekend and the were many cars in line waiting to get service. This was a good sign to me given that there were so many people. Also with the prices, I was sure that they'll do a good job. So I waited patiently for someone to direct me through the drive through stations. I ordered the silver package -see receipt photo for what it covers. The way the drive through works is, you line up and an attendant will ask what type of wash would you like, then you pull your car up for the first step: vacuuming. You leave your car with the key and someone will vacuum your car, then they drive it through the wash to soap up your car and rinse, then the last station is where there are two attendants who will wipe down your windows inside and out, dust your car, wipe everything on the outside then towel dry your car. When I went to pick up my car, there were still smear marks on my dash and windows, and there were still save dried dead bugs on my front bumper. For $24, this is unacceptable. I decided to give this place another shot since my car needed yet another thorough wash. I came over the past weekend and this time, I'm upset. I ordered the same silver package, and had similar results to the first experience. There were dried dead bugs still stuck to my front bumper and side mirrors AND the worst part, they vacuum a piece of my car -a cap to protect a bolt. It's no big deal, but my car is still fairly new and I don't want missing pieces. I will not return to this place and do not recommend nice cars here. When I lived in Menlo Park, I used to go to the Auto Pride location in Palo Alto. They were convenient, the price was lower than Ducky's, and I was generally happy with the service. I bought the 10-wash books and went there regularly for about 6 years. When I moved to Redwood City, I was glad there was another Auto Pride nearby. Unfortunately, I've not been as happy. First, their upselling is out of control. I accept that most car wash places will ask if I'd like a wax, etc., but when I say no, I expect them to accept that. Both time I visited, the person asking persisted, telling me I really need it, it won't take long, etc. I had to say no about 5 times to get what I wanted. Second, the cleaning was a bit of a disappointment. They left sap in a few very obvious places, and missed some other spots. On the plus side, they have all flavors of It's-Its (mmm, mint!) in the gift shop! read more

When I first came here, I had a remarkable experience. The manager noticed me pulling up in a new looking car, and asked me if I had been there before. I told him I hadn't, and he seemed to make sure they did a really thorough job on the car. But this was so many years ago now, and none of my experiences ever matched this since then. The cashier was rude every time, perhaps a bored high school girl who just wants to go home. And the car always seemed to have tons of dirt still on it, even when I got the most premium wash package. They must not pay their employees enough, because they just don't care. I used to wash my car at this place every couple of weeks, for a number of years - until earlier this year (2008), when I finally had a bad enough experience that I swore I'd never go to this place again. Positives: well, they're an OK automated car wash place, in general. For what that's worth. Cons: their prices kept going up and up and *up*. I have an older, small compact car, and the cheapest car wash you can get at Auto Pride now, is $14.99 (no extras -- that's the basic wash, for them to run a small car through their automated tunnel and then quickly hand-dry it). Their basic price used to be $12.99 -- then they raised it. I know it's expensive to have a business on the Peninsula, but honestly, looking at the value-for-money -- I can do a quick-and-messy squirt-and-rise on my car myself in my own driveway, and let it air-dry in the sun, and save the $15. My final bad experience: I took my (older compact) car to be washed. It ran through the washer line, they parked it on the lot where their people hand-dry the cars....and then nothing happened. My car sat there for 10 minutes being ignored, while I watched and got increasingly frustrated. Other cars came out of the washer line and were getting dried -- mine just sat there. Finally I walked out onto the parking lot, grabbed a drying rag and began drying the remaining wet spots on my car. Then a couple of employees came over and starting helping me (rather too late). So when I drove away, I said to myself: that's *it*, I'll never go there again. I just paid *$15* for my tiny car to be run past their brushes, and I had to dry the damn thing myself. So forget it. Now I do quick wash-and-dries in my own driveway, and every few months when I need a full cleaning job, I get the car detailed. It's more cost effective. Here's the math: $15 for Auto Pride every week ($15 x 4 weeks x 3 months = ~$180), versus $100 for a full detailing every 3-4 months plus my perfunctory driveway wash every week. I have been to Auto Pride Car Wash in San Carlos and this particular one in Redwood City. For $29.99, the "Platinum Service" plus $5.00 extra for "Rain-X", I received a terrible car wash. My floor mats were not properly reinstalled. The windshield still had bug marks on it, which I removed when I got home. The roof of the car still had the cat paw prints on top. The rear bumper and trunk lid still had dirt on it as well. I swiped my finger over the area and could tell it had not been touched. Part of the Platinum service is cleaning the grill of the car. The grill got wet and that was about it. The interior looked like it was casually brushed over and the back seat was completely overlooked. Lastly, all my quarters for parking were removed about a $1.25. Only .15 cents were left. If you want a quick wash go here. If you want a quality wash, do it yourself. read more

I'm updating my review because today I went in for my free car gifted from Adan, the manager at this Redwood City Auto Pride location, due to my horrible experience a few months ago (see previous Yelp review prior to my update). I recently came back to my previous Yelp review to see a nice note from the owner of the company. His note reminded me and encouraged me to go back down for my free wash. I called and spoke to Adan before I came in. I was not sure if he would remember me but he was very polite and on point. He told me to come down and ask for me. When I pulled up I noticed less rush and more polite/proper etiquette from the team of workers. I asked for Adan and he quickly came out to greet me. He was extremely well mannered and personally made sure my car got a VIP treatment that I saw him monitor himself. No charge. No questions. No attitude. No negative energy from anyone. When my car was done Adan asked me to check it in front of him and even proceeded to finish wiping the inside himself. I was very impressed not only with his professionalism but also the cleaning job. My car looked amazing! Everything shined and I could SEE OUT MY WINDOWS (read last view about spots post cleaning). Things have improved there. I'm not sure if it's because Adan monitored and helped himself or if the team members have been trained differently but if future cleans will be like my cleaning today than I'd love to come back. I waited until they were done and moved on to another car so I could go through my wallet and get some cash for the tip jar. There was some watching action like waiting to see if I was going to tip. I felt pressured but had some realizations about the importance of tipping even for a free wash. Read my last paragraph for more elaboration. Anyhow, they didn't see me go to the jar since they were busy working on other cars and probably thought I was being cheap to go get my free wash and leave but I did tip this time and am very grateful. I am sure every bit helps and jobs like this are not high paying jobs so hopefully the tips are divided between workers each day. In closing, a few things to reflect: - Training a team properly = success for the business through happy & return customers - Professionalism pays, as does honesty. Speak up. Your voice helps provide feedback on how things can be improved. A kind and professional manager, like Adan, will address things in a positive manner - like how he did with me. - Imagine the pressure all the team workers must be under having to clean a massive amount of cars in a day. Cars keep coming IN and each team member, like working bees. has an assigned job. It's LABOR, the exact kind you aren't doing since you are paying for them to get the job done for you.
