I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. Car Repairs are not fun. However, the staff here come across as honest and reliable. This is my preferred place to get car work done. They have done everything from replacing my headlights and oil changes to fixing my power steering and transmission issues. The communication is perfect. I have a classic, a 1997 Camaro Z28, and Dan and his crew seem to be the only ones able to come up with the necessary parts which are very hard to come by, and fix whatever the problem. I'm disabled wheelchair bound, took my wheelchair Van to them to have an IGNTION COIL replaced which is bout 1/2hr job. This place tried charging me $170.08 for just the part, which I found @ numerous local auto part stores for around $60-$80, BIG RIP OFF!!!!! If there willing to take advantage of a disabled person whose just trying to keep his 2007 handicap vehicle running, imagine how much they will try an cheat there regular non-handicap customers. read more

Dan is the man!!! He literally got me out of a bind in record time. I discovered my car's battery was shot and the person that jumped my battery told me it could potentially be the alternator. Which meant I would be looking at a minimum of $400 for a new alternator not including the price of the new battery. My car was stuck in a garage on the 4th level and AAA wasn't prioritizing me high because of the cold weather. Dan quickly connected me with someone he knows that specializes in towing from garages. He's simply known as Brian the Tow Man. Both guys were very friendly and understood my urgency to get my car out the garage and fixed. Dan helped me through the process and maintained friendly throughout my constant calls an follow-up. I cannot put in words how much I love his wife. She is the best person to have as a front desk person because everyone is worried about how much they will have to pay at the end of the day. She was so personable and remembered random details I told her from the day before. I would highly recommend getting your car fixed at Auto Repair 4 Less! They treated me really well and educated me on what needed to be done on to my car and didn't try to uncharge me on things. I spent over $2500 dollars there and my car still has issues. Had to repeatedly go there to have their mistakes fixed. Had a check engine light that they couldn't fix. I have a feeling they would just reset the computer to make the light go away only to come back in a few days later. My alignment that was done there sucked. My car went out of alignment after 3 weeks. The brake job sucked as well. My brakes are making an annoying squeaking sound. These morons don't know what they are doing. I'm considering filing a lawsuit. It's that bad. Update 1/28/2020: The owner had the nerve to publicly comment below a very malicious lie that I never went there. I have a receipt. Update 1/30/2020: I would like to respond to the owner: The parts that I bought were not the cheapest. They were good quality parts you can get at any auto parts store. And you did not warn me that they would fail. If you did I wouldn't have had you install them. I came in with a check engine light, left without one, came back with one, left without one, then came back again with a check engine and VSC. I don't want to spend an infinite number of my Saturdays waiting for hours for you to figure out what is wrong with my car. Turns out I had a bad catalytic converter ( that was replaced by my new mechanic) but instead of replacing that you replaced other parts that had nothing to do with my issue. Not all the parts were mine. The control arms weren't and the evap canister and other parts dealing with my check engine were from YOU, not me. My alignment was off within 3 weeks of being serviced at your shop. I had my alignment re-done at Just Tires a month ago and it's been fine ever since. I never asked you for a full refund. But I think you should give me a partial refund for my check engine and alignment issues that you failed to resolve. read more

I came in on a Saturday (with no appointment) because my car was overheating & the radiator hose was leaking. I was SHOCKED that they even considered looking at my car when they already looked super busy. I believe the lady at the front was Mari, and she was absolutely superb; just so kind and understanding, and she could see that I was upset that my car decided to act up in the middle of a Saturday. I left my car so they could take a look at it, got a call that they could order the part and fix it that same day. They fixed my car, it runs great (no overheating), and they were prompt and have fair pricing with a warranty for the service they did. I am absolutely blown away by how kind everyone was. This is the auto repair shop that you hope and pray for. One day, this place was recommended and I will be eternally grateful. Three reasons: 1. Dan and his team have always done excellent repair work. 2. Great prices. 3. Both Dan and Mary at the front desk are awesome, kind, helpful, and honest "people" people who listen, care, answer all my questions, and have always considered my needs and worked with me to get my needs met. And their turn-around time is pretty awesome. So, when another driver damaged my bumper and I got an insurance claim check? Went to them. Tail light had a short/damaged wiring? Dan handled it. Oil changes? I go to them. During my last one, they provided a list of repairs they discovered my car needed--typical of most repair shops--and explained how urgent/not urgent each repair was. Love, love, love!! I am a last minute person. I like to call when I'm ready to do something (versus scheduling an appointment or waiting until the next day) and they ALWAYS are able to get me in for a routine oil change the same day. I have also walked in and they have changed bulbs on the spot. They seem personable. They tell you things you should consider fixing but they don't pressure you into doing it "right away" or even with them. They just make you aware. My son's ten year old car died. I told him to find the title so we could junk it. The car is in otherwise excellent shape but we were told he needed a new transmission and it would be around $2500! I told him we could put $2500 down on a new car. However, the mechanics at Auto Repair 4 Less were able to get parts from Ford instead of replacing the entire transmission. $500! Had brake work done here on my 02 Acura TL. (See my poor review for Mark at Car X on the West Side for the nightmare THAT was..he quoted me $700 for all new brakes and got pissy when I told them there's no way I could pay for that.) Nick, at Auto Repair 4 Less, machined my front rotors (they look like you could eat off them) and replaced my front pads for a "whopping" $155. Said the back brakes wouldn't need anything for quite some time. I even suggested having them replaced (after getting Car-X's diagnosis), he said no way sir, doesn't need it. And was such a nice person about everything, we chatted for about 10 minutes while they checked my tire pressure before I was on my way out. I will be going here from now on for ANYTHING wrong with my car, and if they can't do the work, I'll ask them who they recommend. I trust these guys. Seriously you can't go wrong with this place. I have done all the work on all my vehicles up until we moved out here and couldn't work on them anymore. Dreading having to pay some place to do work that I know I can easily do in just the same amount of time was causing me headaches. I called this place up in the morning, asked for a rough estimate to change the front pads. $130 out the door. Seemed reasonable to me. You figure average pads cost about 35-40 bucks and labor around 90-100 an hour. Ok cool. I get there and they ask if I have the parts or not. This blows my mind knowing that I can bring the parts in and just pay for their labor and not the jacked up parts prices. I make a quick trip to AutoZone. Pick up the lifetime warranty pads for 30 return and have them install them. Said it should take about 45 min to an hour. Cool. I get home (a 10 min walk). Literally 5 minutes later they call saying the car is ready. I'm bamboozled at how quick these guys are. 75 dollars later and I'm pleased as punch with my entire experience here. Granted they aren't the easiest to understand, they are more than accommodating and lightening quick. This place is 2 blocks from my house. I normally wouldn't risk taking my car to a random auto mechanic and the front facade looked a little sketchy, but due to the weather I needed a place nearby. Let me tell you that I'm so happy I checked this place out. They took my car right away. I needed a new pump for my windshield wiper fluid and they were able to order the part and the job was done in less than a few hours. The guys over there were more than helpful and very courteous. I would definitely recommend this place and would take my car back there if any other issues arise. (keeping my fingers crossed they don't) Never judge a book by its cover. read more

Very pleased with Auto Repair 4 Less. Besides, the fact that it's 3 blocks away (big convenience factor), they really helped me in a pinch. Went for my annual checkup at the Honda dealership and was told that my timing belt was cracking and needed to be replaced IMMEDIATELY for $775. Given that I bring my car there every fall and have never heard this before, I was livid. So I asked the garage manager in my building for a recommendation and he got on the phone with Auto Repair 4 Less, who had recently repaired his car, and they quoted $450 for my timing belt. I went in the next morning and they knew exactly who I was and took care of me. They finished my car in a few hours even though the Honda dealership said it would take a few days. Very friendly and obviously a great price. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the new windshield wipers they installed are a little squeaky. I'll go back and have them adjust the wipers. I'm sure they'll be very nice about it based on my prior experience. read more

I was sorely disappointed. I went in for an oil change. Informed them of the maintenance light alert. Got a call that the maintenance light was caused by low brake fluid, which they topped. They also said that my roters were bad and had caused my rear tires to wear out and that it would cost $400. I resigned to pay. Then I got a call that they were fine but that my alignment was bad and that I needed new rear tires. Because I worked near JUST TIRE , I took my car in promptly for the alignment . They did the alignment but told me that my tires were fine! read more

Well, the first headlight I had done here is still going strong. The second one...we'll see. Had it replaced Friday, then ON MY DRIVE HOME it goes out. Back to the shop Tuesday and they say it's the connector and that'll be $45 on top of what I already paid for the bulb. Sure, but was it that all along? Not so happy I decided to be lazy and take it in instead of going to buy a bulb myself. I did actually get a receipt for the connector though, so if that goes wrong at least I have something. read more

My car (BMW 328i) recently lost all the radiator fluid and was overheating. I was reluctant to take it in to the dealership given the exhorbitant labor rates and parts mark up they charge. Before I took the car in I stopped by and spoke to the owner (Nick) about the potential problems and requested the worst case estimate. Nick, very patiently explained the several things that could cause the problem with the help of diagrams and the cost entailed to fix each of the potential problems. I have worked on cars myself and knew instantly that I was being given a no bs, accurate account. I knew instantly that this was a shop I could trust. The rate quoted for the job was very reasonable. They even agreed to let me bring in the parts and just charge for labor to save me the mark up on parts. I was very satisfied with the work and the customer service. The car was fixed the same day I got them the parts as promised and it was a quality repair job. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because they didn't inform me about a small part (pulley) that needed replacement, and wouldn't cost any additional labor while they were repairing the cooling system. I was informed about this after the job was done. Now I will have to pay additional labor to get that part replaced, whereas this could have been covered in the main job, had they informed me. Nevertheless, I recommend this shop. The staff is knowledgeable about imported vehicles and does a good job at a very reasonable price. read more

I had to move my car for street cleaning and it needed a jump. So I moved it down a ways from this business on Irving Park Road. After the cleaning is over with, I try to jump my car again to move it back and it will not jump. So I go to this place and a mechanic walks back with me and confirms it is dead. He tells me $100 for a new battery. I agree. What can I do? I also recently replaced a battery myself on another car for $80, so this didn't sound bad. He also gave me an Interstate battery, whereas I bought a Wal-Mart brand battery. I know, some people say there is no difference, but I liked that it was a top brand I was getting. He totes the battery and everything over and fixes it. Then he tells me it really needs new terminals. I look and, yeah, they are all battery acid eaten. I agree and he says to just drive around to through the alley. This is cool. I mean, I could have easily driven away. Fixing the terminal takes just 15 minutes and I get to sit in their air conditioned lobby area. The grand total is $150. I don't think that's too shabby. read more
