I've been living in the area for a little over 2 years and this is one was the first I tried going to. They're not bad, but if you want someone to help you understand and walk through things with you they're not it. Went there because my tire pressure was low and the man there acted like I was bothering him lol he was on the phone which was totally fine I was willing to wait but he asks "what do you need" as he's still on the phone and I'm trying to tell him in between him listening in the phone. Finally he gets a little bit of what I'm trying to say and then is just like "Ok" walks away and doesn't say anything else. I was standing around like an idiot so I left. Would highly recommended this autoshop! I lived in the North subs and My travel is worth going to this shop for a radiator replacement and minor muffler fix. (They do metal welds too) Took my car and had the repairs done on the same day. They will even show you the old parts that was replaced in your car. Mr Danny the owner, Rolly the head mechanic and Sarge the owner, this guys are above amazing! It is very hard to find a good and honest autoshop and mechanic and this is one of them. I've been going to this shop for years and the amazing service hasn't skipped a beat even with the ownership change. Danny is not only an honest owner/mechanic but a very good person overall. Below are my last two experiences: 1. Several years back, my in laws dropped off their Corolla for a muffler replacement. Instead of waiting at the shop, they decided to walk around and grab lunch further away from the shop. Per usual, Danny calls them to let them know the car is ready but it will take my in laws 30 mins to walk back. After hearing this, Danny insisted on taking the repaired Corolla to pick them up given their age and it was very hot day. I have never experienced a mechanic willing to do that and am still very thankful to this day. My in laws are also still very thankful. 2. Today, I personally dropped off my in laws Honda for a battery replacement. The car is older so I wasn't sure if the alternator was bad or if it was the battery. Danny tested the battery upon my arrival and confirmed the alternator was fine and just needed a new battery in under 1 minute. Transparency & honesty. I left the car there and headed home. Danny calls me to let me know the car is ready (afternoon) but I cannot get it until the end of the day as I was stuck on work calls. To summarize, I cut it close to closing time. They close at 5pm on the weekdays and it was looking like I would be late. I call Danny at 4:45 and he's as nice as can be and says he will be there and it was no problem at all. I get there at 4:58 and the car is ready to go and everything went smoothly. This shop is a great place for honest and quality service at a very reasonable price. Brought my truck in a few weeks ago to get brakes done. I did wait until I heard them grinding not good. Anyway Danny hooked me up with new rotors and pads for a great price. When I came into pick up the truck , he showed me all of the old brake parts that were replaced and the new ones installed. Brakes like a charm, very happy. Went back yesterday to get my AC serviced , considering I went half way through last summer with none and it was brutal. Got it back today and it's ice cold ! I'm beginning to feel that this is the only honest mechanic left in the Chicagoland area. I went to National Tires and Battery in Vernon hills a week earlier to get my brakes fixed but they totally laid an egg! My brakes were making loud screeching noises. I then had New World Auto look at my car and they were able to point out exactly what the problem was. In fact, they charged me 1/3 of what NTB charged me for their faulty repair. The owner told me I should go back to NTB and demand my money back and instructed me on exactly what to say. He also took HQ pictures of of the faulty repair job of NTB to fend off any excuses. Lo and behold I get a couple hundred back and no more noise! Go here if you want a honest mechanic that will do the job right the first time for the right price! read more

I took my 13-year-old Toyota here for a brake estimate, based on the location (close to my house) and the great reviews (btw: the person who wrote the one negative review lives in California, so I wonder if they accidentally reviewed the wrong place). My first impression was: maybe I should have gone elsewhere. When I pulled my car into the big garage, no one seemed to notice. But when I emerged, an Asian gentleman greeted me by saying, "You need your brakes fixed?" (I had called earlier and said I would bring the car in). He was a man of few words. He asked for the keys, got inside and drove it around the garage a bit. He opened the hood and poured brake fluid in, which the car drank thirstily. Then he and a colleague hoisted it up and proceeded to take all the tires off the car. I began to get worried that he was going to simply fix the car on the spot, without a word and without a quote. After some inspection, he whipped out a little notebook and scrawled down some figures, adding up to $360, which included replacing the front rotors and pads, the brake line (which was leaking brake fluid), and cleaning the rear rotors. When I questioned him about the front rotors (which I thought I'd had replaced fairly recently), he showed me how rusty they were. I also clearly saw the rusted-out brake line leaking. I was originally going to get a couple more estimates--but since my car was already raised in the air, sans tires, it just seemed easier to leave it with him. Plus, he seemed like a trustworthy, no-nonsense guy. It was about 4:30 pm on a Wednesday--and he said it would be done by noon the next day. He had me write my phone number on his little notepad--and that was it. I walked away without my car and without any paperwork at all (but I kept the number $360 in my head). He called me the next morning at 9:30 am to ask me if I wanted my front headlight replaced (he said he already replaced my rear right taillight, which was out--because I could get a ticket for that). I told him no. The front of my car had been damaged in a small rear-ender accident--and I was going to have my insurance company pay for the body work for that separately. But I ended up calling him back and asking him how much it would be: he said $20 for the headlight and $9 for the taillight he had already replaced. I told him to go for it. By 10 am, the car was ready. My bill was exactly $389, the original $360 estimate plus the two lights--no hidden taxes or extra labor taxes. The guy mentioned in his no-nonsense yet humble way that he had put a lot of time into the headlight work--since the accident had left the light and fixture sort of hanging off the fender. The car looked great. All of the auto-body repair places had quoted me about $900 to repair the costs of my accident--but this guy had greased my hood (so that it could open easily and stay closed securely) and fixed my headlights, so they looked almost normal--for really no fee. I might not even get the body work done now. He did not have to do this. When I told him I really appreciated his work, he just brushed it off (not a very emotional or personable guy). I have so say, the brakes work exceptionally well (it's only been one day, but)--even better than they did when the car was new (they were always a bit soft--even new; now they're "harder."). Don't expect a lot of coddling or long explanations (their English vocabulary is limited and the accent is tough to understand; I still have no idea what they say when they answer the phone. It's not "Hello," and It's not "New World Auto."). These are men of few words, but their work speaks for them. They do a great job--and they really are very kind. (When I realized I had left my sunglasses in my car, they lowered it for me with no complaint). They are quick and true to their quoted prices. They also went above and beyond for me, helping to fix a problem that I hadn't even ask them to fix--without charging me extra for it. They seem interested in cars--and fixing them--not in bilking people out of money. When I was leaving, I asked him if he had noticed that my gear shift was sticking (I had noticed it lately), and he said yes. I asked him how much it might cost to fix, and he said $250.00. I have no idea if that's a fair price (I'll ask around). But I was surprised and kinda glad that HE hadn't brought it up to me as something else to fix on my car--and didn't really seem to have any interest in whether I had him fix it or not. Maybe he's going for reverse psychology: build trust by acting like he really doesn't care if he gets your business, then doing a fantastic job once he does. Highly recommended! One more note: Their sign says New World Auto Repair: Foreign Car Repair, so I don't know if they fix American products. I didn't realize this until I drove up. Luckily, my car is foreign. read more

Finally...a mechanic you can trust!! Take your car here for any repair you need! The owner of this modest shop it honest and hardworking. He has done nothing but good work for me at a very reasonable price. I had to have my brakes/rotors (sp.?) re-done last year and Midas was going to charge me about $1100. I called Mr. Yung and he quoted me $440! He said Midas always tries to throw in extra things you don't need (FYI). I quickly took my car over to him. He had it done in no time and I haven't had any problems since. I recently was having A/C problems. He took a look at it and told me to take it to my dealer because it was still under warranty and I could have it done for free there. I hate dealerships, but I thought this was very honest of him. This guy is gold. He'll do honest work and his prices are great. He replaced my radiator and thermostat -- including the labor -- for $250. Whatever you do do NOT go to Lawrence & Ashland. That guy was named "best mechanic" by Chicago Magazine in 1999, and he's still trying to live off of it. He replaced the water pump and another part in my cooling system......for $600. He's not the best mechanic in the city anymore, that's for damn sure. Just the most expensive. To replace my radiator with a used one, he was going to charge me $300 -- just for the radiator. He's got a bunch of young guys working for him who seem to care more about their own (and their buddies') cars. Lawrence & Ashland is about three blocks from where I live. Mr. Yung at New World Auto is about two miles. And I'm having Mr Yung continue to do more work on my car. read more

Just got back from my second visit (two completely separate occasions and mechanical issues) and I really have had good experiences. The price of his parts seemed pretty fair and his labor rates were very fair in my opinion. The turn around time was great considering the amount of work on this last visit and Mr Han called promptly to tell me what was going on and what he needed to do. He's a really nice guy as well, and does his best to explain things. It's kind of funny to look at a little pile of parts and think "so this this cost me $$$" but I'm glad that he shows me what was up. sent out multiple requests for price quotes to different auto repair shops tru yelp and new world gave me the best price and this time i got more than what i paid for -great online customer service tru yelp messaging, this is the only shop who answered all my questions and got the final price quote just by messaging when all of the OTHER shops price was double or requires me to first bring my car to their shop, come on guys! swaybar links & bushings why do you need to see the car first? :) -danny, sargon & rolly the mechanic are very honest and trustworthy after they fixed my car they honored the price they gave me and even returned to me all the bad parts that they have replaced, prior to fixing danny showed me on his computer what are the things that have to be done and what to expect he then told me that the parts i brought in from the dealer was very expensive and showed me what are my other options -they save my car from total disaster! after all was done according to mechanic rolly he started the engine and heard a noise which he inspected and found that the oil was too low if he have not cared then maybe a few weeks more or in just days i would have said goodbye to my engine they didnt have to check the oil or the engine i was there to just replace sway bar links, control arm bushings and swap tires but when they heard the noise they checked it even the shop at that time was already closed they where just waiting for me to pick up the car. the paranoid in me would have tought that they made it look like the oil was almost empty but ladies and gentleman oil consumption has been an issue with my beloved subaru forester for years now,i got a little bit irresponsible this time :) and im glad they saved my ass! read more

A friend told me about this repair shop, saying they did good work at a good price. She said the owner, Mr. Yung, (phonetic) seemed to do everything he could to keep the cost at his original quote. I've found this to be true on my several repair jobs. I want to praise the One Year Warranty which the owner writes on every work order. On a recent brake job, he told me that one rear strut was not right. There were no symptoms and I had no idea about it. Since he had replaced all 4 struts 11 months ago, he scheduled to replace this strut today. He has given me about $175 value in parts and labor based on what he saw during the brake repairs. In summary, they do good work and it is ready quickly. They offer you the city's consumer repair form, where you have options to protect from overcharges. I trust them, but to get acquainted with the form, I used it before the brake job. The price estimate was $330. I checked and initialed an option for them to call me if the price were to be over $400. In fact, Mr. Yung called me to explain an additional item that was needed, which would bring the total to $363. I told him to go ahead. The owner is Korean, which interests me because I lived a year in Korea in the army. He is not usually very talkative, but he will tell you everything important about your car repair, and will answer questions. read more

Amazing service! The brakes in our Chrysler 300 were making a sound that would make babies cry. Carmax said we couldn't get in until mid next week, Ashland Brakes said the same, Goodyear quoted us $500 for the front brakes and rotors. Then I called New World and they got us in on the same day for only $200 to replace everything! The owner also gave a one year warranty. Definitely a great deal especially in the city! read more

I've been going here for years and appreciate Mr. Young's expertise and quick service. As noted, the proprietor is not a native English speaker, but I've never had any miscommunication on technical or pricing matters needed to keep my 136K Honda rolling. You can still get written estimates, and if there is something complex he will usually point out the issues to you under the hood or while car is on the lift, and show you the damaged parts after maintenance. In addition, I have been pleasantly surprised when repairs come out to be lower than estimated. Last time I had work done there, it was late on a Friday afternoon, and he sent a mechanic out to try to start up my stranded car several blocks away. When it didn't start, he arranged for a quick tow and stayed open to receive the vehicle and do a quick diagnosis. I sent my partner here and she's had nothing but pleasant experiences as well.
