A while ago Auto tech fixed a quirky short in the steering column of my car that I was selling. I was able to get a reasonable price for it. Recently they put a coil pack in my F350 and serviced AC. "John was very professional and worked on all my cars and my pick up for many many years. But John has retired, and the new guy is not as good. Twice this week I brought my 1990 F150 in for clutch work. At first it was for a clutch neutral safety switch, I had a replacement however I am too old to do the work myself, after an hour or so he said I needed a new clutch master cylinder. I made another appointment and two days later I brought the F150 back in. After a couple of hours the new guy had not started on my truck and said I needed to leave it all day. I picked up my keys and drove home. The new guy may be an OK mechanic, but he is inconsistent on diagnosing problems and scheduling repairs. When I bring my truck in, as scheduled, before 9:00 am and by Noon he has worked on a bunch of other vehicles but not mine, I have to wonder where his priorities are. I miss John. read more

AutoTech was able to fit me in the next day and repaired my water pump the same day. They were also able to fix my alternator early enough the next morning it didn't interrupt my plans to pick someone up. The day I picked up my car, the temp gauge was not looked at. I then called and ask them to look at the car again as this should not have been missed. I was able to negotiate the removal of the diagnostic fee, but I was charged for coolant to replace the coolant which was put in there the day before. Called in to negotiate the $30 off for the coolant charge and was declined and not given mutual respect during the conversation, no rude words were exchanged but John took offense to my stance. Won't be coming back due to not being given the same respect I was attempting to provide via phone, after paying 1200+ to this location. read more

I went in to have my A/C lines replaced this summer, but they didn't install them correctly. The shoddy service damaged the fans and radiator, which caused my vehicle to catastrophically overheat. I had to tow the car to another mechanic who was able to spot the hack job right away and even offered to speak with Auto Tech directly due to the glaring severity of their error. Unfortunately, there were cascading issues related to the overheating, ultimately leading to a blown head gasket and the death of my beloved family car. Of course, mistakes will happen in every industry and I was open to working with John to rectify the situation in an amiable fashion. However, when I reported this issue to John he instantly became combative, deflected blame, then fabricated lies about the original condition of my vehicle. Throughout this interaction, John continuously used disparaging terms for people with intellectual disabilities to describe the second mechanic and insisted on a greater conspiracy against "little guys" in the auto repair industry. I believe a person's true character is revealed in how they handle their mistakes, so it was disappointing to see a grown man behave in this fashion. After this particular experience I cannot in good conscience recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Passing through Corvallis on trip to Medford. Battery light came on, and I had recently had the alternator replaced at another shop (both shops are part of the TechNet warranty program). Explained my predicament to Brittany over the phone, she said to bring it in right away. Sam (mechanic) diagnosed that the alternator was not working. Brittany spent a good deal of time on the phone getting TechNet approval to cover replacement since it had only been 1 week since initial repair. They were able to get the car fixed and back to me within about 36 hours. Warranty program covered rental car for 2 days. Can't say enough good things about the service, communication, and flexibility they all provided. Brittany, Sam and John were all extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend AutoTech for any service needs in Corvallis! read more

Our college age son took his older car into this shop because it wouldn't turn over and had a good battery. Pretty obvious it was the starter, as the solenoid would spin and nothing else would happen. When the mechanic called to say his ONE HOUR of diagnostics indicated the starter needed replaced, he quoted a price that was OBSCENE. He insisted on only using the starter he purchased and it was 350% higher priced than almost every comparable starter on the market. When I said we would provide the starter and he could just charge the 2.1 hours of labor (for a job that legitimately will take 45 minutes), he was highly offended and refused. If you have a nice new car, I wouldn't trust a guy who takes an hour to solve a remarkably simple diagnosis. If you are a college student, working hard to make ends meet, and have an older car, I wouldn't trust a guy who charges these prices and takes advantage of young people! However, if you hate your money and despise your car, I highly recommend this shop! read more

This place is terrible. I took my 2000 VW beetle here in July because it was overheating. Mechanic told me a hose fell off that he reattached and then found I had a cracked head, metal in my oil, and my engine was unusable. I was told to just hand over my title and I could possibly get some money for whatever they scrapped the car for, in addition to paying $100 for labor. Having a lot of friends and family who work on cars, I told them what the mechanic told me and was told having metal in your oil isn't even something that happens. My dad drove into town to look at the car himself and found the only problem was the hose the mechanic told he he attatched was still off my engine. After buying a new clamp ($2) my car ran good as new. Here I am, 9 months later, and my car runs great. Haven't had a single problem. They were just trying to scam me out of a car because I'm some college student who likely doesn't know anything. They're a scam stay away. read more

John fixed my car after many failed fuel pumps. That was in January 2012 and it's been running amazing ever since. He had my car in and out the same day. I appreciate everything he did. If you enjoy being overcharged for repair services, then this is the place for you! Seriously though, any repair shop that will charge you for a full hour of service to do a simple diagnostic on a check engine light should not be trusted. When I asked the woman at the front desk their reasoning for the charge, her response is "you won't find another shop in town that does it cheaper" Let me tell you, this is NOT true. After my less than thrilling experience with them I called several other foreign auto repair shops and found that not only do most NOT charge for simple diagnositcs but their prices are far less than Auto Tech. I had also taken my car to Auto Tech for a previous mechanical issue and while they fixed it, they DID NOT tighten bolts properly and I ended up on the side of the road broke down due to THEIR mistake. Regardless of their "making it right", I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and I'm positive I'm not the only one! read more

My experiences with Auto Tech have always been top notch. The owner/mechanic John, goes above and beyond every time to ensure quality work and happy customers. My family and I have taken our vehicles there for years and years and have never had a single complaint. I have recently moved to the PDX are and still drive back to Corvallis for car work because I wouldn't trust anyone else. In my most recent experience I took my car in to make sure everything was good to go for a long road trip. Not only did John check everything and fix all required, he even hand washed my car! My alternator went out; I needed my car to be fixed ASAP. I called around to a few places with no luck. Called John, he told me to bring the car in and he would try to look at it the same day. I dropped the car off around 9 am and he was done with it just after 12:30. Good, friendly, speedy service. I couldn't be happier. As far as the cost, I had the same work done at another shop in Corvallis back in 2012; they charged me about $90 more than John did.
