I had never been here but I saw amazing reviews. I had a noise that was concerning me and I called this morning and was able to come by same day and have them listen to it. Sometimes you can only afford a band-aid to keep your car running. A lot of auto repair shops up sale and gouge you on pricing without minimal get you by options, carless or with a bill you cannot afford. Clayton's is honest, reliable. They care about you and provide the service or options you need at a price you can afford. Highly recommend. read more

Great work and were able to make improvements to my vehicle for almost the same cost as if no upgrades were made. My vehicle had complete rear-differential failure. They took time to diagnose the issue as well as checking to see how thorough the damage was to other parts of the vehicle. It took them less than 2 weeks to completely replace everything that was damaged, all with brand new parts and included an upgrade to the next most powerful rear-differential in the Chevrolet lineup. I have a 2 year guarantee on the parts and labor. The only reason this is a 4 and not 5 star is after a thorough inspection, the original quote was no where near the end quote...the damage was more extensive than expected. read more

Okay, so this is going to be a bit of a long story... I should start by saying that I drive a 2005 Ford Explorer which has a sealed transmission, meaning that there is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. My Explorer has a very specific procedure for servicing the transmission because of it. I needed my transmission fluid and filter changed and I was recommended Clayton's Auto. Initially, they told me it would take 2 hours but it ended up taking them 10 hours. In addition to that, they charged me twice as much as the Ford dealership would have charged me. I gave them a quote from Wilson's Ford and they lowered my bill a bit which was nice of them. After I got my rig back from Clayton's I noticed that it was driving worse. I drove up to Marsh Transmission in Tualatin, OR (expecting it to be a major problem) who discovered that the transmission fluid was 3.5 quarts low, and verified that there was no evidence of leaks. I ended up talking to the owner of Clayton's about this error (which could have toasted my tranny), and he gave me a full refund. He said that people make mistakes and in this case it was us. Personally, I think its a big deal when a company owns up to a mistake like that, so even though this was a nightmare experience, Clayton's gets three stars. read more

I've had amazing service here multiple times now. My car battery died and wouldn't jump, and this was the closest place to tow it to- and I think we were incredibly lucky for that. My co-worker told me the next day this is the only place she brings her car after years and years in Corvallis. I've since brought it back for other maintenance issues. With limited money, we've often put off things the car needs, and I've had great help with the staff here in help prioritizing things that are critical to keep the car going, and which things I can put off (and for how long), and I have never once felt like they have taken advantage of me for asking those questions. 03 VW Jetta. read more

I brought my 1998 Chrysler Town & Country handicapped accessable van into them with the following issues; instrument cluster not working, emergency brakes not working, wiper motor not shutting off, and problem with van starting. It took them TWO MONTHS to do half the work and they returned it to me with more problems than when I left it with them. I'm disabled with a debilitating spinal cord injury that has left me with with limited mobility. To start off with, I asked Brian at the front desk of they were familiar with these vans because they are known for having problems with the solder going bad in the cluster (and other foreseeable areas such as modules) and I didn't want anyone working on it that knew nothing about it. It's too costly to pay an electrician to find these idiosyncrasies that frankly should have been a recall. He assured me their tech knew all about these vans and this specific problem. He did say that all of the repairs would be upwards of $500 which I agreed to. Since I may take this to small chains court, I'm not going into details other than to say their knowledgeable tech quit/got fired from his job shortly after starting to work on my van and they did nothing but stick me on the back burner. It was suppose to cost $60 to install a REBUILT instrument cluster, which I got a used one, Brian reassured me this included programming the vans info such as my actual mileage into it, which was the main reason I brought it to a shop. They did not do this. I brought the van in with 104,729 miles and it went out with 143,745. The gas gauge showed a full tank. I took it to Waldport on a 2 day trip from 9/19-9/21 came back home it showed a half tank. Fyu, I picked the van up 9/14. I then drive it on a trip to Kings Valley ran out of gas on a deserted road. Called AAA, barely had phone reception. It was a nightmare. Waited 2 1/2 hrs and no one came. Someone finally came along and have me gas. The gauge still read 1/2 tank. The lights in the dashboard for the rear wiper and a/c had been flashing since I picked the van up from this shop. This van has on-board diagnostics and those lights have something to do with that. Obviously they did not program or right or the used parts I waited 2 months for didn't work. That's another long story. Glad I've got voice messages. The BCM was suppose to be rebuilt but the receipt days used. I have a voicemail that says otherwise. I was out of cell phone reception from 9/25 until the following Saturday but since they're closed on Saturday I called them the following Monday about the had gauge issue. It's now Wednesday, no call back. They not only went over the $500 estimate without approval (by $325) went I got pissed off about the whole deal they stuck my now bad battery in my van (it wasn't bad when I brought it to them) didn't tell me until I went to pick it up and didn't finish anything they agreed to. Although they "reduced" the price to $660, they did half the work and took 2 months to do it. I absolutely do not recommend this shop. read more

I have bought a 2002 Hyundai XG350. Firstly, I find the good review of Clayton Auto Repair on the website. However, I think it's fraudulent. I spent more than 450 dollars on the Clayton to repair only one coil. However other two coils failed immediately when I drove my car from Clayton. Clayton charged me 99 dollars again only to check the coil problem and I need to pay 500 dollars more to repair another two coils. Later I go to circle king Auto Repair to repair another two coils.The labor fee is only $50( labor fee in Clayton is $250). I am an international student. It is not easy for international students study abroad. Clayton bully international students who are not familiar with cars. I am very very very disappointed with Clayton. read more

The most expensive oil change I've ever had done ($50). I understand they did a whole evaluation of my vehicle and so the price came from labor costs. I didn't ask them to do this though (I had recently had a thorough evaluation done at a dealership before a big trip), and I wish I had been told up front that was their policy, since I already knew about (and had documentation of) all the problems they pointed out. read more

For the most part, he was a fair and honest business owner, initially. One month ago, my truck had transmission issues. 4,450 miles were put on my truck in that year and the work he did failed. The parts he put in he swore by and even gave me a 2 year warranty on the work. So, back to Phil's Transmission my truck goes. One month later, I get a phone call from Phil saying the billet low stall converter failed and he ended up having to replace it. One month to replace a torque converter. Now, the time frame initially bothering me the most (and being vocal about it to him), he finally completes his job of replacing a torque converter. And what I mean by completing, is that he just so happened to have a torque converter laying around in his shop that would fit mine. Whether this is a low stall billet converter that I paid high dollar for or not, Only the next shop will know. Today, I went to pick up my truck and found something that pissed me off beyond comprehension. Not two days before my torque converter issues I gave my truck a bath. Not that it even needed it, it was nice out and I just wanted to get it clean. When I inquired Phil about the mud all over the side of my truck his response was "My guys weren't abusing your truck, but I'll give you 10 dollars for a car wash." This prompted me to do an even further inspection of my truck and noticed even more during the month that he had it. Almost half a tank (16+/- gallons had been burnt), Over 90 miles had been put on the truck, AND the OLD transmission fluid from a year ago, was recycled and put back into the truck. Now don't get me wrong, the evidence I've gathered is Phil really doesn't do the test driving or work on the truck, it's his lackeys. And the lackeys he has working on the vehicles his customers brings him are nothing but disrespectful, ignorant fools that have no sense of professionalism for other people's property. When they see a fancy toy they will never be able to afford, they want to go out and have fun in it. However, Phil defends his "employees" and takes no responsibility for what they do and how they do it. My warning to anyone reading this. Do Not Take Your Vehicle To Phil's Transmission.

I picked up my keys and drove home. The new guy may be an OK mechanic, but he is inconsistent on diagnosing problems and scheduling repairs. When I bring my truck in, as scheduled, before 9:00 am and by Noon he has worked on a bunch of other vehicles but not mine, I have to wonder where his priorities are. I miss John.

I took it back and they said there was nothing they did that was leading to this, except maybe a wrong side sealer. They swapped the sealer and still my car persisted to leak oil. So I took it to my mechanic where I was informed that there were already two cars with issues stemming from bad services given at Jiffy Lube. I waited for my car to get serviced. And found that this is the new washer they used to tighten the drain plug! Completely unacceptable, thank god I didn't blow my engine from this complete joke. I took the washer to Jiffy Lube for an explanation and they had nothing to say. No apology, no empathy, no accountability for a terrible job. Beware of taking your car here.

Was told my alignment was fine despite rubbing just the inner edge of one front tire to the belts, and told the $40 "TPMS rebuild service" was actually just a valve stem check (not even a TPMS function verification) after my TPMS light remained on after the install, and their online appointment system doesn't actually communicate to the store where you book service to reserve equipment or space. This location fixed a valve stem for me when I was in a pinch and I felt obligated to give them some business, but I was wrong and should have stuck to Discount Tire where the value and quality is excellent and consistent nationwide. I guess they were out of "more" this week and Les is just less. Would not give them another dollar by choice, just waiting to see if my suspect assignment check or *still* non-functional TPMS lead to burning up a new tire within the warranty period, SMH. If you seek quality, look elsewhere.

They sent a man out with a truck, and got my tire, put my spare on, and then took my tire to the shop to fix it. I went to the Shop the next day and had my newly fixed tire put back on my car. Talk about *Great* Service! I am a Senior, and I remember when this was the kind of service you "used to get" Everywhere you went, years ago. Remember when you'd go to a gas station and they'd check your oil, and wash your windows? they don't do that anymore sadly. it would be really nice if they would. but Service is Not like it used to be. I asked a gentleman at a gas station if he'd mind checking my oil one day, and he said "we only pump gas Miss." I was like what......? It was if I had asked him to do the impossible! Now, most places charge you ridiculous prices for doing Everything! so I am a pleasantly pleased Senior, that is Very Happy and Pleased that Les Schwab has not forgotten How to Treat Their Customers! very *Professional* and Awesome service! I give them 5 Stars! Proudly!

People come…read moresee him from far afield because of his ability to actually figure out what's wrong rather than just replacing parts. Richard is also honest. That's also a must-have. Richard takes pride in his work, and he does a quality job. His prices are competitive. Well, I presume they are; I haven't been to another mechanic in years since I started using Crossroads all those years ago. I can go with a big list of things I think need to be done, and Richard will tell me which ones I don't need to do. Another mechanic would just do them all and also tell me I needed to change my cabin air filter and muffler fluid. If you have a Volkswagen, a Fiat or a Buick, you're out of luck. Crossroads specializes in Japanese vehicle repair. Richard is a Toyota specialist, and some of his staff are mavens with Subaru.

Twice this week I brought my 1990 F150 in for clutch work. At first it was for a clutch neutral safety switch, I had a replacement however I am too old to do the work myself, after an hour or so he said I needed a new clutch master cylinder. I made another appointment and two days later I brought the F150 back in. After a couple of hours the new guy had not started on my truck and said I needed to leave it all day. I picked up my keys and drove home. The new guy may be an OK mechanic, but he is inconsistent on diagnosing problems and scheduling repairs. When I bring my truck in, as scheduled, before 9:00 am and by Noon he has worked on a bunch of other vehicles but not mine, I have to wonder where his priorities are. I miss John.

This is a BMW with complex electrics, and good security measures. He arrived promptly and did an amazing job, including locating the charging lugs once the car was opened and the hood up (battery is in the rear). He was recommended to us by a European car mechanic because these cars are tricky to open w/o damage, and I can see why. Recommended without hesitation.

My request was for $20. I had in mind just $10 but I had to drive to Albany then changed my mind to $15. At the pump finally decided for $20. That will left me with extra $30 for anything else in my bank account. When the attendant finished up ask me if I want a receipt and after I stated no, turn the key and with terror in my face noticed the gas gauge went all the way to full. Immediately check my bank account to discover an overdraft. This guy filled up my tank!!! When I asked him he just said "I'm sorry, it was my mistake". That's it? What a way to obligate to pay for a non requested item and now I will have to pay $35 in overdraft fees just because an attendance don't pay attention on his job. I'm sure that there is anything that I can do because I will use the gas in the future time but this guy put me in a so bad position because I'm loosing money now. Just be aware if you load gas on this station, make sure that they don't filled you up by "accident"
