Told them I was waiting for bore diameter to order new performance pistons. "Danny" said "we can order them for you and save you some bucks". Great...but I was NOT consulted on pistons selected. Piston parts numbers showed $200 for set of Summit pistons that was marked up $100 on bill. Crank was to be polished but was told new crank would be cheaper. Bill still showed crank polish for $300. Was told it was for my benefit to avoid tax. I was not advised on crank selection. My short block turned into a long block. Was told to bring in my heads for installation. Purchased them already surfaced. Guess who got charged $300 per head to be surfaced on top of valve job for $250...not 1 call for authorization. I found this when I went in days before pick up. A $900 estimate ended up at $3000. Mission Auto Parts and Machine Shop should be last place anyone should go.

I called GCS in a panic and they were incredibly kind and accommodating--they told me they'd stay open until 5pm and to just drop the car in the back if I could get it there after hours. They promised they'd take care of it first thing in the morning, and they delivered 100%. They diagnosed and fixed the overheating issue the very next day, did a full oil change, and even repaired a bad oil leak that the BMW dealership had caused (and never fixed properly). Everything was done quickly, the pricing was extremely fair (way less than the dealership), and the communication throughout was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about German Car Specialists on Tradesman Dr--they saved my holiday and earned a customer for life. I'll never take my BMW back to the dealership again. So I am writing a review on the service and behavior of this facility. I took my vehicle in to get…read moresome restorative work completed to it. I was told in order to do so I had to take a tour of their facility. I had no problem doing that cause it would allow me to ask them questions can you work on my type of vehicle and are you able to do it without any issues. I was told to keep silent about the horrible service I had received because of a refund they had given me. I was like ok and thought this would be the end of it. No their owner took it upon himself to tell shops that RENT from property from him to not allow me to conduct business with them or any shop that he rents to. Which I then called the Comal Co Sherifs dept who told me he had no authority to ban me from business who rent from him. As I am a customer. I think if you have an issue and want to be this petty contact me tell me. So If your going to be this petty then I am going to tell every classic car person and event I go to AVOID this shop. 1) They charged me over and over to remove parts multiple times because they didnt buy the part. 2) I was charged for talking to mechanic on progress of vehicle. 3) Mechanic didn't know how to work on my car and should have from beginning said we don't know how to do this. 4) They damaged paint and tried to blame shop that had originally done restoration years before them. 5) Parts were installed incorrectly. 6) Used chat forums to get help on how to work on my car. Which normally is other people like me on those sites not actual mechanics. 7) Told me they didnt want to work on my car anymore after they had done enough damage to it. Take it somewhere else. 8) Picked up my car to see it dirty inside and out with scratches and marks to paint as people were touching on car who shouldn't have been. It had no gas when gas was put in, it was old and no good. I think so many other places are better and well equipped to work on classic cars outside of this place. They are only good for routine oil changes and minor maintenance of a vehicle. I even notified Hagertys to avoid using this shop as well sending them pics and letters from a shop who fixed the car and had to undo all their mistakes. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here…read more Prior to scheduling the work, I sent the following email outlining exactly what I wanted installed on my 2014 four-door Jeep Wrangler: "I have a 2014 four-door Jeep Wrangler that I am looking to upgrade and wanted to see if you are able to support the following installations: * A rearview mirror with an integrated backup camera. We are interested in the Echomaster part number MRCHDDVRJW, which tilts downward when reversing to assist with parking. * Upgrading the headlights to LED units. * Replacing the factory radio with a modern flat-screen system that supports Bluetooth, USB connectivity, wireless music streaming, and phone-based navigation. If you are able to complete these upgrades, please let me know your availability and provide an estimated cost for the full scope of work and parts so we can move forward with scheduling a time to install." I received the following email response confirming they could provide an equivalent solution for the camera: "Hey Justin, The Rydeen works the same way as well. It gives you a different angle when in reverse. I would have to order a few parts, and get you scheduled the week after Christmas. Let me know if this will work for you." Based on that email confirmation, I dropped my Jeep off in the morning for installation. When I picked up the vehicle, I immediately noticed that the camera does not tilt or change angle at all. It is a stationary camera. In addition, the camera is not properly secured. Any bump in the road causes it to point downward, making it impossible to see behind the vehicle. As a result, the rearview mirror is essentially unusable, which creates a safety concern. They also installed a radio, but it does not support wireless phone connectivity for displaying maps or navigation. When I brought this up, I was told that upgrading to that capability would cost an additional $1,500. This was never discussed prior to installation. The radio has no front-facing USB ports. The only USB connection was routed into the glove box. The expectation appears to be running a cable out of the glove box door, which is not practical. The USB connection is also not secured and frequently falls behind the glove box, requiring me to retrieve it repeatedly. Jeep dashboards have designated locations for properly mounted USB ports, which would have been a much cleaner and more functional solution. I also had to bring the vehicle back a second day because they did not have all the required wiring components to connect the steering wheel controls. I was only informed of this when I picked up the vehicle on day one, which required me to miss work again. Overall, the final installation did not align with what was represented in the emails. Several features were misrepresented, communication around capabilities and costs was lacking, and the installation quality did not meet expectations. Based on this experience, I would not recommend their services. I have photos documenting the issues and will add them to the Google review.
