This is my first experience with Autobahn Specialties, and it won't be my last. The fuel pump controller went out on our 2013 BMW 128i xDrive, sort of. It was intermittent, but that did not matter to these guys - they figured it out. Then we discovered that the part was way more than back ordered - in the thousands (insert sad face here). It was going to be months before we could get the part - got to love the post covid supply chain. I found a replacement part on eBay, and they were more than happy to adjust my quote and use the part I got to get me back on the road. More recently I had to have 2 repairs done and again, they got me in quickly and the cost was less than what the dealership would have been. I need to update my review from a few years ago. I used to recommend this place to anyone with a German vehicle and they have done great work for me in the past, but after my last trip there I have started the search for a new mechanic. Recently I had the shop perform a ton of work on my 2009 Audi A4 Avant. All together I spent $4481 for this work to be performed. The return of my car was delayed a couple of days due to them putting the wrong size O ring on my transmission cooler line, leading to my car leaking transmission fluid everywhere. A mistake that they immediately owned, but still charged me $54 for transmission fluid for. I also asked the shop to look into why I wasn't getting any heat from the car. They told me I would need a new climate control module, which is a $900 part from Audi, but only $40 on eBay. Before ordering the part on eBay, I popped the climate control module off and determined that a connector was slightly loose. Something they did not check, but still charged me a $102 diagnostic fee for. Computer diagnostic codes should not be the end of troubleshooting, especially something as accessible as the climate control module. My final straw is with the four brand new tires I had them put on the car. I ordered the tires through Autobahn, because they said that they buy from Tirerack.com, so that was one less thing I needed to do. What they do not mention is when an auto shop orders the tires, it does not come with the complimentary road hazard warranty that Tirerack.com provides to consumers with every tire. This would have been incredibly useful when I experienced a giant nail destroying one of the tires during a 1,200 mile road trip. Instead I had to spend $180 on a temp replacement , then another $170 buying another matching tire, then another $25 to have it mounted and balanced. When I called to inquire about the road hazard paperwork the shop told me that I had declined their road hazard protection (for a cost) which is correct. Why would I pay for something that Tirerack.com includes for free? So I guess I'm led to wonder, have I been getting the run around and ripped off for years by this shop, or is this something new? read more

Recently bought a 2010 GTI and wanted to get some Suspension and Performance Mods done. Russ took the time to answer ALL my questions and email me quotes for the work I was asking about. All in all had them install Whiteline 24mm front/rear sway bars, end links, Bilstein B14 coilover kit, and APR Stage 1 Tune........the GTI handles and runs fan-effin-tastic! Tony has also been very helpful with the installation of the mods, answered any "install" questions I had, and also took the time to show me the progression of the install while doing the B14 kit. Very pleased with Autobahn Specialties. Russell was very easy to work with and at every step of the process was very upfront about pricing and services to be provided. I initially went in their just for a diagnosis of a noise/vibration from my rear drivetrain on my BMW. But then when he called with the estimate for the repair the price was fair price, he outlined other potential costs that could occur during the service and he included the diagnosis as part of the overall cost so I went ahead and had them do the work. I took my 2009 BMW 328i in for a repair to get the control unit replaced for my fuel pump. I have never taken my car anywhere else except for my normal mechanic who unfortunately didn't have the right equipment to program the part. I was really nervous to take my car somewhere else, and after getting the run around from the BMW dealership, I decided to try this place. I'm so glad that I did and will definitely be bringing my car back! They replaced the part for a good honest price and even drove me home after dropping my car off. They had it fixed by lunch time the same day and I'm glad to say my car is running beautifully! Really impressed with the quality and speed of the service at Autobahn. I brought them my sick Audi A3 on a Monday afternoon (no appointment). By 5 o'clock they had already diagnosed the problem (correctly!) and the vehicle was back on the road Wednesday despite needing a somewhat involved repair. I am very unsatisfied with my service and when I went to let them know that I was unsatisfied they treated me as if I just haven't spent $125 to get a diagnostic. When I first arrived to the shop Jason was the one who helped me he came outside and looked at my car as I briefly explained what was going on with it he acted as if he had no knowledge as to what could be going on with my car. He then brought me inside and told me that he would charge me 125 to check out the radiator and give it a diagnostic. I waited there for about 1 hour and a half . He brought me up and told me my car was done I asked what was going on with it and he gave me a overview of things they noticed and also repeated what I said. I then had a bad feeling about this and when I looked at his grinning face I could tell something was up and at that moment I realized I payed $125 for them to pretty much tell me everything I suspected was right but nothing with the car is wrong and that all time and money I spent to bring it over here was a waste. I heard Jason in the background whisper as he was grabbing my paper work "I hate when that happens". At that point he took my money and smiled right in my face. Seeing in my eyes that I was dissatisfied, disappointed, and in disbelief. I just spent so much money to be told that I didn't have to pay for any of this time I should have just never contacted them at all. The 1 hour of Labor for $125. Just to be told you got tricked. Thank you if you made it this far. Please be wiser and don't let Jason out smart you. He wrote the diagnostic so fast that he mispelled his report. I guess that's what you get with a $125 diagnostic. I called back to talk with a manager and he laughed at me and hung up. Defeat is what I felt and what caused me to write this. I had to walk to my car about a block away because the "professional tech" parked it there. No words just grief. read more

Took a 2009 Jetta TDI to them - AFTER the dealer had diagnosed as a blown High Pressure Fuel Pump, replaced the entire fuel system - THEN realized at the turbo was blown. No longer trusting the dealer I asked around for a good TDI mechanic. Everyone I asked recommended Autobahn Specialties - and their recommendations were dead on. Super friendly, very communicative (which the dealer NEVER is), on top of it - and excellent mechanics. Brought my 2005 A4 in to have the power steering rack replaced. I supplied the rack because I found a cheaper deal on a remanufactured rack on rackdoctor. A few months later the rack came loose from its mounting points and clunked every time I turned the wheel. I called and was told because I supplied the part there is no warranty. My invoice said no PART warranty, nothing about no labor warranty. Was able to fix it myself, but found that they hid my battery harness instead of reinstalling it, and all mounting bolts were loose. What a joke. Don't come here if you plan on using your own parts because they'll do a shady job and you won't have the warranty to save you. read more

I have been taking my Volkswagen here for 2+ years, whenever I have a problem I call and they are always extremely helpful, they get it in as soon as they can. I have had major problems with my car, which is always frustrating, but they made it easier to deal with. 3 months after getting a new ECU from Autobahn, my check engine light came on. It turned out to be something completely unrelated, but Autobahn still did a FREE diagnostic and even checked the car after I installed the new part, free of charge. In my experience with them they have been very transparent and professional. I'm not sure about the prices of other euro shops in Reno, but with Autobahn you definitely get what you pay for. Looking for a Mercedes garage I could trust to care for my car like I would without gouging me like the dealer would. These guys are fantastic. Friendly, open and great communication. The "Service B" requirement on my S550 was a little ambiguous and could have included an expensive transmission service. After I'd agreed to pay for it they did some more research while my car was in the shop and found that it wasn't really needed. Anybody else would have done it anyway. These guys called me and discussed it in detail. We decided together to forgo it and saved me serious money. Glad I found these guys. They're my go-to to care for my baby. read more
