I had a great experience at AutoFair Subaru. Ask for Reynaldo Mejia. He was very genuine and knowledgeable about the car I was looking to purchase. I went in to buy a Mazda they received as a trade, and it was in great shape. I also spoke with Drew and Ezekiel, with whom I also had pleasant experiences.

They employ predatory deviant sales tactics and I suggest you DO NOT GO HERE. My daughter was looking for a car here and had an absolutely shocking and ridiculous experience with one of their product people, Cliff Lawrence. I recommend staying away from him. Kid goes in and is excited about a car, is set to buy and asks me for my opinion. We both go over the reality of the car (nice but 120k+ miles on a model known for transmission issues) and decide its not worth the $$. She had put a deposit and decides to back out (three days before the signing). The thing is, this Cliff guy wasn't involved in the final sale, she contacted the people in sales and finance and was all squared away once she told them she was out. That NIGHT she gets a call from Cliff and ignores it. He leaves a voicemail about how much of a drag it is that his "birthday weekend is ruined" (not sure why thats relevant) and how "its such a loss" yada yada. Vaguely coercive. She's feeling weird so she doesnt call back and a bit after that, she gets a text from him- the guy's being aggressive, confrontational as a grown guy over text to a young woman. He must have gotten flack from his people for the lack of sale but....why take that up with my kid after the fact? She was pretty freaked out because due to COVID he'd dropped the car off at our house for a test drive- so here she's thinking...this guy is being aggressive over text and has my address....really spooked her. I encouraged her to email them and she received no reply so as far as I'm concerned, this is all free game. Ive included the conversation photos she sent me. They employ children here, I would suggest another subaru dealership.

It was all good until we sat to talk numbers. I met with Kim . She was nice. I'm not sure if she was nervous or maybe if she is unfamiliar with the vehicles. But she seemed nervous throughout the whole test drive. Stuttered a bit at times, but she was very pleasant. This review is not about Kim or the manager or finance. It's simply to review the "trick they use to get people in" The price listed online was $30,186. The condition was to trade in a vehicle 2005 or newer. THAT IS THE ONLY CONDITIONED LISTED. So, technically this is correct. However, it's not really true . I guess this is what's going on, or at least this is how I perceived it . Since the vehicle you are trading in is used, they knock off $3500 right off the bat. But instead of subtracting it from the trade in value. They instead add it to the purchase price. After doing that, they appraise the vehicle, then use whatever value they get as a trade in. I did not get my vehicle appraised, and tbh, after this little trick they tried to pull. I wouldn't want too. Just be up front about the price. None of this bs of "lowest price possible" I may go back and purchase the car since I did like it. But I'm dissapointed in the tactic they used. It's not ethical, and kind of dishonest.

After months of searching and comparing options, I turned to CarFax to find something trustworthy. That's when I came across the Hyundai Kona that I genuinely fell in love with the moment I saw it on December 31, 2025. It felt like the perfect match after a long, exhausting search. I went to the dealership, asked all the right questions, and did everything a careful buyer is supposed to do. On January 6, 2026, after putting $2,000 down, I drove the car home believing I had finally made a solid, responsible purchase. I truly thought I was starting a new chapter with a dependable vehicle. Unfortunately, what followed tells a very different story. I'm already paying about $700 out of pocket for solenoid replacements and an oil change because the shop found white sludge in the engine. This is on a car I just bought from this dealership. Their "complimentary" oil change means nothing when the vehicle clearly wasn't properly inspected in the first place. I didn't buy this car blindly. I test‑drove it, asked questions, even had my fiancé on FaceTime asking the salesperson things directly. The moment I reached out about the check‑engine codes the car developed, the communication stopped. No reply, no concern, no accountability. This experience has convinced me to avoid dealerships entirely from now on. If you're considering buying a "certified" used car from them, bring your own mechanic, because their 130‑point inspection feels like nothing more than a sales pitch. Even the manager who finalized my paperwork gave me the same scripted lines about pricing and future repairs. None of it matched the reality of what I'm dealing with now. I expected payments under $300; instead, I'm paying almost $400 for a car that needed engine work almost immediately. The warranty has been useless, and the dealership has shown no interest in making things right. If they truly cared about customers, they would stand behind what they sell and offer at least a year of coverage for issues that show up right after purchase. I do not recommend this business. This was my first dealership purchase in years, and it will absolutely be my last. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the disappointment.

As soon as my fiancé mentioned that it wasn't an out-of-pocket job, the manager insulted her, insisted that the brake and engine problems were "User error" and minor. He then called the warranty provider to have the claim denied out of spite. I called the warranty provider and was referred to Riverside Garage where the Equinox was diagnosed and fully repaired in 24hrs by an amazing mechanic who went to bat for us on the warranty. Turns out that the "minor user error" problems were the result of a vacuum pump that had literally exploded into 30 pieces, making the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. Long story short, Riverside Garage is fast, friendly, and extremely professional, and warranty or no, its worth the drive to Haverhill, MA to have the work done right. And now they have customers for life, unlike Pep Boys. A+
