Second, they are incompetent and not trustworthy at all! They charged me more than originally quoted, and I ended up having more issues than what I went in with. In All the excitement of getting my suspension all set up, I forgot I was an adult. I decided to enjoy a round about a little to much and had way to much confidence in my poorly aligned balding tires. Luckily it was a small bump and of course nobody was involved. I was smart enough during my ignorance to make sure nobody else was around before being a dummy. I was west and close to 465 and my car was a little rough. I called up Paul Cunningham at Merkle Autohaus. He told me to get it there ASAP and he would work his magic. I limped the car there and left for a couple hours for lunch. I have owned many Audi, VW (gassers and TDI) and have done most of the servicing myself (with lots of help from others) Tried a handful of recommended places (from forums and friends) and I have found my guys. Was having the dreaded "ACC, braking guard unavailable" fault. Difficult to diagnose and even harder to find an actual fix. They refused to give up on the problem until they found and FIXED the broken camera and cable - I'm oversimplifying the actual defect. It's been a while since I've been to Autohaus Merkle but it's a good thing that they're still around. Their reputation precedes them for sure. I'm definitely going back, now that I need some repair work done on my Bimmer. I learned about Autohaus Merkle when I owned a 1999 VW Jetta VR6, a car I loved and hated (hated more than I loved some days). After nearly being ripped off by a dishonest, and out-of-business VW dealer in town, I took my Jetta into Autohaus Merkle, where they set me straight, were very honest with me, and saved me a lot of money. That Jetta needed work all the time so Autohaus became my go-to. I never left dissatisfied with their service. Not once. Now I have a 2013 BMW 135i and while it's been an absolutely stellar car, it's sprung a small oil leak at 105,000 miles. I'm really looking forward to making the call to have the people at Autohaus Merkle take a look at it for me. I hope to get a few more years out of this Bimmer because it's such a joy to drive, and these guys will keep me running in tip-top shape. Everyone says that German cars are expensive, but the German car myth is just that -- a myth. And if you find a reputable shop like this one you'll breathe a lot easier when the few and far-between repair needs come up. read more

Candid, upfront disclosure of repair work needed. Definitely pricey but very likely due to nature of import car demands. Dealership would have been higher and proprietor here is much more forthcoming about "why" repair costs more than a domestic vehicle. Rude employee at the front. Gave me horrible attitude and tone in response to my questions and responses. Also proceeded to give an estimate $800 for an oil change and change in sensor, despite the sensor costing $200. Overall very rude employee that made me feel uncomfortable to ask questions about what was going on with my vehicle. He was belittling to me, a customer that did not know much about cars. I also called to ask if my car was ready for pickup and he proceeded to give me a tone and attitude about how I did not pick up the phone call in the morning, even though I was busy taking an exam. Don't know if he was just having a bad day, I tried to be nice anyways because that's how I was raised, but that experience ruined my days and I will not be going to this company for further work on my vehicle. I would advise to treat your customers with basic human respect even if they do not know much about cars. read more

Holy cow! I had to write a review about this place. I have a 2011 Audi A4 that I had taken to the dealership in Carmel for servicing and asked them to check the brakes as there was a thud upon starting and stopping. The dealership quoted me a front end suspension job for upper and lower control arms landing at around $2700. I found Autohaus Merkle and decided to give them a call. I sent Paul the quote from the dealership and he returned one from Autohaus that was going to save me about $600 so I brought my car in. I got a call 2 hours after dropping the car off. I was horrified, I thought I was about to find out something else was wrong with the car. I was wrong. Paul told me that I needed nothing replaced at all and I just needed a bolt tightened on the control arms. Are you serious?! Just saved thousands by going to Autohaus. Brought my new to me tdi in for inspection and they were great found a few issues the dealer didn't tell me about and helped me get it all fixed I did get a few quotes from other shops and they not only made fair repair but helped make a plan for me to keep up service on my car so I don't have to worry about huge bills in the future. THANKS FOR THE HUGE DOOR DING! I paid the $700 bill for an oil change and rear brakes with no question, grabbed the keys to my car and headed home. I called the shop and left a message the moment I arrived because upon wiping it down, I noticed what appears to be a large door ding as shown in the picture. The next day I was told it couldn't have happened while on their property and they had already reviewed the security footage. He would not share the footage with me when I asked and he failed to discuss the part where they had test driven my car off the property before and after service. I am not looking for a handout. I was just hoping they would apologize and fix the damage that occurred while in their possession. I had another service scheduled in a few weeks so it could have been taken care of then. I am very frustrated as I thought I had finally found my go-to service center for my Mercedes. My car did not have one single door ding until now. They could have replaced and charged me but instead they suggested I contact Volkswagen since my car was less than 600 miles out of warranty and take it to a dealership for repair. So let me start by saying this a true Westside establishment and I can remember my folks taking our VW bus there when I was a kid. But that 30 plus years ago, truly something has changed since the old man sold it to this new guy. So recently I stopped in to ask for some advice on my Porsche 944. The fella at the counter really didn't want to help hey I get it. But then he proceeded to tell me that my car was junk and he would turn it away if I brought it to them. He also told me parts were impossible to find (pelican parts,944online) just some of the spots where I order parts. He then stated they really only work on air cooled Porsche's where he pointed out the mid 90s 911 on the lift Like I was supposed to be impressed, ok dude is it a turbo or RS, oh no ok so a run of the mill 911. I'm sure your just changing the oil on it. Lucky for me he suggested Euro Motorworks on the north side definitely where I will take my car when I have an issue that I can't figure out. The Autohaus is a very fine haus, indeed. I have a diesel VW and a Subaru, two cars with unusual engines, so I'm not going to take them just anywhere. (True story: the Subaru got vapor lock once--took it to a 20-minute lube place and the mechanic raised the hood, took one look, and said, "The engine's in backwards, I can't work on that!". It's not backwards, it's a Boxer engine!). The Autohaus has always been able to keep my cars running happily, for less money than the dealers charge--often a lot less. They work quickly, they're friendly and reasonable, and they know which way the engines go. Plus, they're close to home. What more could you want? Oh, they also have coffee in the little waiting area. They kept my ancient Jetta running long after other mechanics had given up on it, too. Highly recommended! read more

Found this shop thanks to a friend after being quoted around 6k for my timing service on my beautiful EOS at Tom wood and then on top of that they were rude and wanted to keep my car for 3 weeks. Came to autohaus and spoke with them got a much better price and they could have my car back to me same week!!! I have a 12 year old Mercedes that had many issues, including suspension, brakes, mounts. The car had an excellent body and interior but drove like a grocery cart. The dealer gave me a quote of $7,000 for needed repairs, more than the car was worth. In one day, Autohaus repaired everything that was necessary for $1400. The car performs like when it was new and I was thrilled. This was a combo of many things the dealer was being overly aggressive on, a few things that were really two years away from needing attention, and being cheaper than the dealer on every needed repair. This is the worst auto repair company I have ever been to. I took my vintage 1980 Datsun 280ZX here, clearly they had NO CLUE. The car ran worse after the $1300.00 fuel injector replacement (which was not needed). My car died in my driveway and could not be restarted. I took it to a REAL repair shop to have it fixed. They use mechanics from Lincoln Tech, that are NOT qualified to work on cars yet. The kid was more interested in taking pictures of my car then fixing it. They are MONEY hungry. I went there several times for my convertible BMW and the first couple of times I went there it was fine. I knew it was over priced but I thought it was going to be worth it. Then they convinced me that I needed the shocks to be replaced. It took over a week and when I picked up my car (it was a sunny day) and my convertible top did not work anymore. I asked them what happened with the convertible? and they said they thought it was broken and so they manually disconnected it!!! I was like why did you need to put down the top when you are working on my shocks and they said that they would try and fix it... They just made it worse... Please. Be AWARE . This Mechanic take advantage of People and charge them for things that don't not need to be fixed. I took my car there for a simple problem easy fix so far I paid more than 1000 $ and my car is not fixed Yet. My car stayed there for more than three weeks actually it is worst than it used to be. They call me one day an told me it was fixed but when i drove my car it stopped just few blocks from the shop on the middle of an intersection I almost had an accident because of that . I called them to tell them what happened they were very rude they told me that it is not their responsibility. I deeply regret taking my car there.
