I started taking my 1994 E320 coupe to Autohaus Schmid for seventeen years when it had 40,000 miles. It now has over 300,000 miles and I credit Paul and his crew with keeping a good eye on the vehicle and maintaining it. While they specialize in all European and German cars, their knowledge of Mercedes is outstanding. They are always so good at calling to explain any issues that are of immediate concern and those that can be put off since they are not a safety concern or will harm the vehicle. Their prices are reasonable. A few years ago, I purchased a 1998 E320 wagon and have been bringing it to Autohaus Schmid and have also been so please with how they have taken care of this second car that I keep in California. To sum it up, they are honest, reasonably priced, and just plain nice people who care for your car. I highly recommend this shop for your Mercedes work. P.S. Alex was an absolute life saver yesterday! Our key got stuck in the ignition and wouldn't come out no matter what we tried. We came in after closing time on Friday but Alex was still there and kept the place open. He spent 15 minutes with us getting the key out. He was super friendly and didn't charge us anything. Last month my car was acting up, the engine light came on during heavy traffic. I took the first exit pulled off the freeway into Broadway Burlingame. I drove into Autohaus Schmid garage. It was right before closing, Alex and coworkers greeted me and told me what he thinks was wrong with my car. I left my car in the garage and his diagnosed was right on. He called me the next day and told me what was wrong and what needs to be done. They replace all new sparks plugs and 4 coils for my car. When i was done with work, Paul came promptly to picked me up at work to picked up my car. The staffs was very knowledgeable and nice. Paul B and his crew are the best. Long story short, i was short on time. Came in mid afternoon the problem was found, fixed and the bill was well within what it should be and I was out the door by the time they closed. Long story..... I got into Burlingame on a Sunday for a work conference. I drove in from 2 hours away. My check engine light came on and my car started running really bad. I parked the car in the hotel garage. I found this shop via yelp plus it was close by. I had taken to my car to a different shop to get the light looked at and the other shop kindly told me what the issue was but they just had no time to do it. I had to get the car done today as I was leaving back home. I called Paul at autohaus Schmid and told him my situation. He told me to bring the car in and he will look at the check engine light and let me know st no charge. I found his shop and realized it's a Mercedes Benz shop and I have a 2001 Honda Accord and thought oh man but I really didn't have a choice it was 12:30 in the afternoon and I have already been to one shop that was booked. Time was not on my side. I was in the office with Paul who was assisting with a homeless lady and very very accommodating including giving her food. And this was a common thing. Talking with him more he is a down to earth guy. They found the issue 3 bad plugs and a bad coil and the estimate was way lower than I was expecting and he was able to get me out of there the same day Eventhough their shop was packed!! Paul and his crew thank you very much for a super job well done. Even though I live out of the area I would take my car here anytime. I found this place by accident and very happy i did. Was looking to get Service Level D done on my Benz and was quoted $400 by a few independent shops. Paul - the owner, not only took me in on a Friday afternoon on a whim, he gave me a great quote that was much cheaper than anyone else that I looked around for. He got my car done within 1.5 hours with no appointment. Very professional job - the big kicker for me was when he found a service that was needed with my fuel pump. This would have cost me easily $2500+ but he honestly told me that Mercedes might have an extended warranty service on it. He made a call and confirmed his assumption. I'm not sure how many other shops would have done what he had done for me. I am no expert with my car and i would have never done the research but he was kind enough to help me out and give me sound advice. He also fixed / cleaned up a couple of issues that my previous mechanic had failed to take care of including resetting all the system codes so everything is nice and tidy in the report. Being OCD, i appreciate attentiveness to detail like that. I highly recommend Paul and his mechanics to anyone that is frustrated with dealership prices and service! read more

(we arrived at about 1pm) Didn't upsell us, Didn't BS, and didn't snub any of my many questions and got the diagnostic and repair done before he closed. Our engine light was on but it turned out more simple that we thought. He explained the repair to us and showed us the bad part. I liked that he was down to earth and easy to talk to. Had a flat tire on 101 while visiting the area and pulled off right by Autohaus Schmid. Paul immediately came over, diagnosed the problem (tire doa unfortunately), explained we needed an identical tire to match the other three nearly new tires. I love this auto shop for fixing my Mercedes and Audi. They specialized in European cars but I do see a Chevy and Mustang once in a while. They are so much more reasonable price than if I take them to a dealer. I do all my schedule maintenance here. When I had to change my lock actuator and brakes for my Mercedes I came here and the prices are good. They are very honest and reputable. Plus they are prompt and reliable. Paul, the owner, is very reasonable with the quotes. It is also very conveniently located just off the Broadway exit of 101. These guys had been doing my in-laws MCB for years so this is why I decided to take my new baby to them for an oil change. What happened was a nightmare. I picked up my MCB after it's oil change and jumped onto 101 heading back home. Within minutes my car began to smoke. I drove right back to them car smoking and all. They said there was a faulty gasket and that was why all the new oil leaked out and began to smoke. They replaced the oil and put in new parts. When I got home, I popped the engine and noticed oil ALL OVER. Oil was also all over the undercoat of my car, the rims, EVERYWHERE. It was a complete mess. My husband called them up and we were asked to bring the car back in for a heat power spray. They did that but it still was bad. We decided to take the car to the dealership in Belmont for them to professionally clean it and remove all the oil. Autohaus Schmid did pay for this. The problem I had with them was that they did not refund me for the original oil change - I felt that since it caused so much of a hassel time wise, lot's of stress, that I should never had to have paid for the service. In the past, I was constantly afraid to be taken advantage of. I don't know much about the mechanics of a car and therefore always felt helpless or the need to bring a guy with me to a shop. However, my recent experience at Autohaus Schmid has changed my thoughts on mechanic shops. The staff did a great job of making me feel comfortable. I opened a yelp account just to write a review for this place! While I was on my way to work one morning, my car broke down at the convenience store next door. I walked to their auto shop and they came right over. They were able to get the car to start long enough to get it over to their shop. Then they offered to give me a ride to work and call later once they were able to assess the car. By the end of the day they had it working again and offered to give me a ride if needed (though I didn't need one). The repair did cost more than I anticipated, but no more than I suspect anyone else would have charged me. I don't even think they charged for the ride.
