My son was all set to buy a car and they committed to an agreed upon sales price and a monthly payment and length of the loan but when we went to pick up the car they changed the length of the loan by 14 months! Suffice it to say we walked out and have told all our friends and others to avoid this disreputable dealer. Wasted our time, lied to us and didn't seem to care in the least that they did it. After reading all of the reviews on yelp along with other forums, I decided to take a chance on Automax (Framingham branch), I showed up and reviewed a car that I knew I wanted to purchase and hoped it'd be easy. I will say this to be positive, the facility is clean, and most everyone is respectful and appears to operate in a professional like manner. Appearance is half the battle though... With that said, thus far, the jury is still out, and I'm not satisfied by any means. I took the car for a test drive on Sunday, noticed and explained to the sales associated Ozzie that the car had some vibration and pulsation associated with it while driving. Also felt like it was happening when turning slowly, as well as upon both regular braking, and hard braking. He too noticed it and agreed. He mentioned it'd be reviewed and rest assured, "the car would not be given to me until it was made right." So, I sat back, let them do their due diligence and waited to be contacted to bring my A6 in, and pick up the new car (trading mine for the other) as I was to drive my current vehicle until remediation was completed. Monday came and went, and I was contacted Tuesday and told the car is all set, left work extra early and took a half day vacation so he didn't have to stay late waiting on me (he needed to do the hand-off of the vehicle), and I showed up at 2pm to pick up the car, under the assumption of course, that all was good and the car was made right. I was told upon picking the car up and upon my inquiry of "so, what was the problem", that the tires were filled (TPMS light was on during test drive.. side note, I'm kind of surprised they don't check their cars prior to test-drives with prospective buyers, especially a safety related item to ensure the cars have no lights on the dash, etc...), and that 3 of the 4 wheels were re-balanced and that the issue was resolved. It seemed odd to me that the service tech who was working on the car did not road test it, and they gave it back to Ozzie to road test as he noted he actually drove it around and it was all set... they logged 10-12 miles on the car... not reading too much into it, maybe their methodology was due to the fact that the sales associated felt the initial issues with me during the test drive... Well, after less than 5 miles driving home, I called up Ozzie and texted him to let him know the car is NOT right, and the issue is still blatantly present. I was told I could bring the car back, drop it off, and they'd fix it. Again, they should have fixed it before I gave them my car and they should have stuck to their word about making sure it was operating as it should prior to "delivering" the vehicle to me and releasing it. I'm a firm believer in "do it once, do it right." I'm now being inconvenienced to take the car back (coordination and timing of drop-off pending). I will follow up accordingly with respect to how this all pans out because I think it's important that folks know how they operate throughout all facets of the buying experience, including sales, service, etc.... Hopefully there is a sense of professionalism moving forward as well proper remediation that needs to happen in order to get the car into a safe and drive-able-like manner. I have been promised by both Ozzie and the young lady who is the Sales Manager that this will be made right. Again, kind of hard to believe much of anything with a failed first attempt as it doesn't exactly build confidence in myself or buyers alike. Also, I was to receive a call from Ozzie this a.m.(Wed 8/29) as he was in the office during the morning, no call or follow-up to my voicemail that I left this a.m., come to find out, he's off today.... here we go.. Fortunately I am blessed to have two family members deeply routed in the legal system, one of whom has loads of experience related to small claims, especially automotive related such as these potential ones, so I am comfortable/confident (though deeply annoyed) with my standpoint, MA laws, etc., knowing they will make this right... It just should be an easier process throughout, being that dealers should operate on full transparency and honesty in this day and age, and that has not been the case to date with my experience... Simply put, if you say you're going to do something, just do it. If you're going to call someone back, you do it. This is the foundation of running a business. Stay tuned as I await a call back to confirm an appointment in the coming days next week, expected by end of this week. So far, it's been unfulfilled promises, lots of patient phone calls and spending my time chasing this branch and their folks of Automax to make something right, which should have been done in the first place. Hoping my perception and experienced gets changed over the course of the next week. I'd love to make this review 5 stars, so hopefully someone will step up to the plate to see this through its evolution and do right. read more

I was about to purchase a vehicle that we already agreed on a price. The problem was that it only came with one key which I understand because it was a used car. They said they will program me another set of key and everything was going ok untill we start discussing about finance. As soon as I told them I'm financing with my own bank, they refused to offer key they had promised. This got me so heated that I walk away from the deal over key that was going to cost them 150 dollars. I just lost repect for them as car dealership. read more

Before making the drive, I called to see if they allow outside financing (I was pre-approved with funds available at a moment's notice). They said they don't, but asked what bank I'm using. I told them, then they told me to come in anyway and we'd work something out. Obviously not going to waste my time going there. I'm not willing to waste my time playing games and they went about acting like it will somehow change if I go in. Ridiculous. They wanted me to drive all the way there and get stuck with whatever terms they decide to conjure up. Service starts before the customer walks in the door--something too many places seem to forget. AWFUL! My husband spent over $30,000 on a truck with these guys and sent him off with almost an empty tank of gas. That wasn't even the first issue we had with Automax. The salesman we had was helpful, pleasant, and very patient. I went there with my daughter with a list of cars to test drive, I decided which car I wanted that night, applied for finiancing, and gave them a check to hold the car. They did not cash my check, nor did I sign anything as I was not sure I could get a down payment to finiance the car. Four days later I went to the dealer with the down payment, and did all necessary paperwork, to put the car on the road. My only concern now, I found out the next day the car has a recall on it. This was posted before I signed all the paperwork. I am sure they received this information sooner. My daughter has refer a few people here, and has great luck with her car. She never had any complaints with dealer either, nor did the person she referred. As far as the cost of the cars, they are lower than most places. read more

To be fair I never even stepped a foot inside the shop, but reading the Yelp reviews I was quite curious to see how poor their customer experience was. I was speaking with a rep "Isaac" who informed me after running my credit score I was in the high 600's to low 700's (My credit score is 730 mind you). After discussing some financing options he informed me my monthly payment would be "Around a few hundred dollars a month" (never gave me a full amount mind you) Then he told me that he wouldnt process the sales tax paper work of the car (I live in RI) stating that it was "Too much of a pain in the ass". Mind you this was my first interaction with the guy and right off the bat he came off as unprofessional. I then promptly told him I'd call him back if I needed anything further and hung up. BEWARE GUYS!!!WORST DEALER EVER!!! I bought a car from Automax Marlborough and had horrible experience.First they forced me to buy some LowJack security device which I never wanted. But they consistently insisted to buy it but later they agreed to take that off my car after a huge argument. The problem started after buying the car. The car's all 4 struts were broken,Breaks were faulty,All 4 wheels TPMS sensor were faulty,Transmission Pipe were broken,Fuel door wasn't working The biggest mistake I made was I didn't get it inspected from some other mechanic. I would prefer to give no stars, they don't even deserve one. Automax had the exact car I wanted. I was coming out of state to look at the car so I called on Friday 9/25/15 asking a few basic questions about the car after I had already received an email about it. The man on the phone was nice and put me in their system and said he made me an appointment for Sunday to come down and look. He also said I would receive a text message confirming and I could text back with any questions I had, I never received a text or email. Sunday 9/27/15 comes around and I call before leaving to verify everything. They had no previous information of me coming or an appointment. The lady I believe Yasmine I was on the phone with made me an appointment for that day to ensure someone would be waiting to help me when I arrived. As soon as I hung up I received an email confirmation I got to Automax after driving 2 hours (sitting in traffic) and the car wasn't even there. I was told it was in the body shop getting the bumper fixed!! When I first walked in I was told they close at 5:00 so they can do what they can since I got there at 4 which was rude from the start since they has to "find" me a salesman. Then here comes Sal the salesman who was extremely rude and unhelpful. I start talking about the car I was looking at and he has no clue what I'm talking about, I had to find the stock number myself to give it to him so he could find the car. 5 minutes later he comes back with no Carfax report which I asked for and tells me the car is not there and in the body shop getting the bumper fixed. This news was even more shocking to me because there was no damage shown in pictures and I was told the car was in excellent condition. I just got up and walked out I couldn't even deal with them anymore. The manager never said a word on our way out and Sal continued his ignorant attitude. Absolutely terrible dealer. Classic used car flim flam bait & switch. Keeps you in there for 3 - 4 hours so you feel a commitment to buy based on the time invested and pain of doing it again elsewhere. I asked re: fees up front & was assured of absolutely no fees and of course there were $700 dealer documentation fees. So I was lied to repeatedly and just ended up walking out! The interest rate was quoted as between 1 - 3% and my credit is sterling. They came back with 5%. I only agreed to considering the financing to get my price as I would just pay it off after 90 days. I went in to check out a used 2014 BMW 328i and Matheus Gava was the salesman that helped me. He went over the CARFAX, pricing, and let me test drive the vehicle while answering any questions I had. Paperwork and payment was handled quickly and smoothly without any issues. Matheus even went out of his way to deliver the car to my house after having new tires put on my vehicle so I didn't have to make an extra trip out there. Purchased a beautiful Audi at a great price. After driving 10k miles on it I brought it to a local shop to get my oil changed. The man who worked on my car mentioned he specializes in Audis and stated the car is "an immaculate machine." I told him I purchased it at Automax and he told me this is the only dealer I should purchase at aside from Audi dealers to ensure you'll be getting a really well-kept car. After being told it was in Marlboro it ends up being in Framingham, show up to Framingham a sales rep approaches us seats us at his desk 30 minutes later he comes back to have us start signing paperwork on a vehicle we have not even seen or test drove, fast forward now we test drove vehicle while in the middle of discussing rates and ect another sales men comes over and tells ours he lost key and needs to help him find it another 30 minutes later he returns meanwhile sales men behind the counter are swearing and acting highly inappropriate while my four year old son is sitting right next to them. It gets to the point we end up telling them via email we are not interested in car to refund the deposit. Feb 6 the deposit was placed after being told we would refund it next the sales men tells us email him clear copy's of receipt we do, then it's the sales men is not in, then sales managers give us the run around.... Since purchasing my car in December, this company has not returned any phone calls me or my co signer have made asking questions. And the cell number the salesman, Manny, gave to me is no longer working. Funny, there was no issue getting a response from anyone before i made my purchase... I recently purchased a 2016 Nissan Rogue from this place, bringing my dad as a co signer, and trading in my old car. It was clear I needed a vehicle, registered to me, to be mine. Everything seemed ok as we talked numbers and tried to work out a price including my trade in. The salesman even texted with me to answer questions while i was at work to make it easier. After we had come to an agreement about the price of my payments, and the $2,000 i was offered for my trade in, we shook hands, it was time to sign papers. After going in the office and removing some money boosting scams, i mean "options", our salesman added on without my consent, We were told where to sign. Again,me as the buyer, my father as the co signer, like we had agreed with the salesman, but the feeling in my gut told me something was wrong. When i asked the business manager "why are we signing this way?My father is a co signer." His response was, "Oh, it doesnt really matter." WHAT?! Again, I was dumb enough to think these sub humans would be honest with me. Thinking they had some legal obligation to answer my questions honestly before i signed a contract. But, as far as i knew, everything was fine and a couple days later I drove off alone in my new car. BUT APPARENTLY WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WAS after the first bill was sent, found out that my carsalesman, Manny, had set it up so that my father was the buyer of the car, and I was the co signer. Why you might ask? Because my father had better credit than i did, and when we were talking numbers, Manny failed to mention that they were NOT under my credit report, they were under my fathers. Probably because it would have been more expensive for me as the buyer, and i would have said no, and not got the car. So they just went ahead and dis what any person with terrible morals would do. It wasnt until I called the bank that I was given all this information. They told me the car was registered to my father and not me. When i asked the woman if she had ever seen something like this before, she said,"Yes, unfortunately things like this happen all the time, they only want the sale." And there is nothing they can do. Also, it had been almost 2 months since my purchase, and still no $2,000 check for my trade in was received by the bank. She told me I need to call them and ask when they sent it. When i called Manny back to ask" where is the check for the bank we agreed on?" He said, "I told you it takes 10-14 business days, not including holidays." I said ok, fair enough, (even though it has been well over that.) Then i asked "Why is it that I went to buy a car with a co signer, and ended up being the co signer? You put this car in my fathers name?" His tone completely changed, he became not friendly anymore and started arguing with me, saying that thats not true. So i told him I had spoke to the bank, they told me the truth. He asked who the car was registered to, and i told him, "not me." At that point he said" I actually need to go, I am with a customer, I didnt know it was going to be a call like this, i will call you back." And that is the last I heard from this unprofessional, shady, scam dealership. I have been trying to call to find out when that check was sent(probably not at all) and how any of these people sleep at night, but like the manners their mothers taught them, they arent there. read more

I bought a car last Black Friday 2016. The sales itself went pretty well and I am happy with the car but we were given only one key. Mid-December I emailed the sales person and asked about the second one. As he did not reply I asked again and finally got an answer 9 days after my first email, saying that he had the second key. I have then asked him multiple times to mail the key to me but haven't heard back anything. I also called the dealership. It is mid-January and I still don't know when I will get the second key. I found myself leaving this dealership in such frustration and disappointment today. I have been accompanying my uncle to this dealership twice, both time we worked with Manny! He is a wonderful salesman. He listens and not pushy but yet will work with you. First time when we were here, we couldn't work out a deal but my uncle enjoyed working Manny and thought he was pleasant to work with. We came back today with the intent of making a purchase. Again, Manny was great to work with and spent all afternoon with us. However, when we asked to run the numbers through so we can evaluate the price as a whole. The finance person Chris commented that we are "playing games"! At this point, I was feeling a bit annoyed by his comment. Manny had asked him to run the numbers for us, then we went to see the Finance person, Chris! He is absolutely unprofessional and just simply rude! We asked if we can put more money for down payment and he abruptly replied "NO"! There was no conversation at all! I said that we won't able to make this work if that's the case. He said "Ok, I knew this was waste of time"! Who in the world conduct business this way? He didn't want to have a conversation with us and then tell the customer it's a waste of his time! Well, he didn't just lose my uncle's business, he also lost my because I was planning to purchase a car in couple months. It's really unfortunate and I would never go back because I'm a strong believer of professionalism and treat your customers with respect! Otherwise, you don't deserve my business. I gave this place 1 star for the quality of the vehicles they have- they do have some very nice cars . The rest of my experience was horrible. I called them yesterday 7/16/18 and talked to them about a car I was interested in. Mike explained the pricing and said it was no haggle and they were a wholesaler so I didn't ask about a lower price - I told him on the phone I had already secured my own financing but if they could beat it I would go with them I told him it was with Bank of America (BoA). Today I got a ride to the dealership(which was over an hour away) to look at the vehicle and I was ready to purchase it - I had 5k in cash with me and my paperwork from the bank. I arrived and mike was there waiting for me with the car ready to test drive - It was perfect so now lets talk money. First BIG PROBLEM - BoA wont work with Automax so my financing would have to go through them or I could try another bank etc. I told them I would try their financing but wanted the same rate or better that BoA had given me- (which wasn't even that good, it was like 6%) so after waiting around for 30 minutes I got called into the finance office where I was shown some numbers. Not only did they not tell me the rate at first but they tried to upsell me all kinds of added protections and whatnot - the entire time not mentioning the rate. I finally asked - what rate they gave me and it was higher than BoA had offered. I told the lady that I wasn't intersted that the rate was too high and decided I wouldn't buy the car after all. I get up to leave and Mike comes to me and asks whats wrong- I told him the rate they offered was higher than my pre approved and I was leaving - he asks me please wait let me go check so he comes back and offers me a rate .2 percent lower than what I got from BoA yes that is a POINT 2 percent difference. Why didn't they give me that rate right away? So ok now I am back in business right? WRONG- NEXT PROBLEM- now they start telling me about how they are going to charge me in dealer costs and mystery fees. almost 1000$ in fees not including sales tax AND I am going to have to finance that amount. Not to mention they TAXED the mystery fees !!! All dealers have doc fees but 699 not including the registry etc. is outrageous . More than double every other dealer I talked to this week. after all the fees and taxes- the car that was a great deal was now almost 2000$ more than the listed price and I couldn't even use my own financing. I knew it was too good to be true- don't believe your eyes - you will be shocked when you see how much more it costs before you are done. My salesman Mike was a nice enough guy and he did treat me pretty well but overall the experience was a nightmare and I certainly would not recommend buying anything from them unless you are rich and don't care about paying all kinds of extra fees and higher rates than you should have to. read more

If I could give this dealership less than 0 stars I would. I went in last week to look at an Acura TLX. The salesman and I took the car out for a test drive, when i realized the blinkers were sticking. The salesman told me it was a "new feature", and "all the Mercedes cars also have them like that". I test drove other Acura TLXs of the same year, and this was a clear LIE. Next we pull into the dealership and I pop the hood. I started to look around the engine, and FOUND A DEAD RAT UNDER THE HOOD. I know from prior experiences that rats chew wire/filters, so I'm on my way to backing out of this deal unless i can get it for ridiculously cheap at this point. I put a low offer in, and talk to a manager with gray hair, i don't recall what his name was, but this guy was a seasoned sleazy, lying, car salesman. The type of character that gives all car salesman a bad rep. So long story short the salesman keep proceeding to tell me there's "nothing wrong with it" and "rats don't chew wires, they like other stuff, cars fine". I was the one that found the rat, so how could he possibly guarantee no damage was caused to the car? This dealership is just filled with liars. They will say anything and everything to get your business. That's probably why they were absolutely dead. I wouldn't never buy a car from this DUMP, and you shouldn't either. read more

*UPDATE* They were great until they get that "great review" they beg you for. Once they get it, they do a complete 180. If you try to contact them with any questions or issues, they don't know you anymore. I bought a "Certified Pre-Owned" Jeep from Automax Preowned in June 2017. I took it to a Jeep dealership closer to me a few months later for service and an issue I asked them to look into and they told me it's not a Certified Pre-Owned which affects the remainder of the manufacturer's warranty. They told me it's the responsibility of the dealership that sold it to me to list it as such. So, basically I paid what I thought was a good price for a Certified Pre-Owned, but what I got was an overpriced used car. I tried to contact them to ask about this and never received a call or a return email. They were up my rear end when I was buying it and to give a good review but once they got their review, they were done with me. Absolutely horrendous experience. I called the night before to ensure the car I found online would be there, they said it was, and sure enough, it was there. Asked if I could test drive it, they took me around the block, would not allow me to test it on the highway or drive more than 1 mile. When searching the car found a razor blade in the cup holder (nice touch). I did like the car, and went to sit in the office to discuss paper work. Told Frank (sales rep) that I had been preapproved for a loan 4 or 5 different times, yet he kept leaving and coming back 10 minutes later with loan information. Would constantly laugh when I said I would be going through an outside bank. A second manager came in the office and was completely unprofessional (swearing). I asked 3 times for the price of the car with the taxes and fees, Frank kept leaving the office to talk to other people, he would not listen to me. I sat in the office for an hour and 5 minutes until I eventually gave up and walked out of the dealership. 10 minutes later got a phone call from them basically begging me to come back, told them I didn't feel like waiting, very rude and laughing during our phone conversation so I hung up on them. I would not recommend this place to my darkest of enemies. Just a waste of a day and a terrible experience, which sucks because I really did like the car. read more

He was intent on doing as short a test ride as possible, and as soon as we can came back was intent on getting back into the office to discuss a sale. He wouldn't let us look at the car in the parking lot to checkout the legroom etc. Very pushy!! Very unprofessional, and the least bit transparent. When we told the "final" price he offered didn't work for us, he huffed, and left. Then he called back after 2 days stating he had a good deal. Drove up from the Cape with no appointment. Dwayne (Duane?) took us right in. Pleasant. They had a blue FX4 that I was deeply interested in. As others mentioned, there are two prices. The highest is if you use your own financing. For $3300 less you can use their banks because they get a kickback. Took three trips to the sales manager for three different trade in prices. I do not pay doc fees. Dealerships must have paperwork to sell vehicles. Exigency of the business. Told salesperson it was another way to make money off the consumer. We were $2000 off of making the deal work but they did not want my terms so we left. Tad disappointed but after reading the reviews I am glad I didnt buy it. PS: During the test drive the dealer plate fell off!!! Took my personal truck to find it. That should have been worth time and trouble. Their restrooms were blocked off. Sneaky crooks! Force you to fiance through them, you have no choice. However I signed the papers intending to refinance right away however I didn't get my vehicle for another 2 weeks.I didn't think I was going to get it I actually decided I didn't even want it but just when I was about to march in for my money back and paperwork shredded they had the vehicle ready. When I went to refinance I owed almost $1,000 more than I did! because the interest that accrued in the time period from when I signed paperwork (mind you I didn't get the vehicle for 2 weeks after) I feel robbed and cheated. read more

Salespersons are completely disinterested and rude. I told the guy i want to buy in cash and he said they prefer i finance. Then, After test driving two vehicles, i suggested that i would like a more expensive model better (I drove a 2007 g35, then browsed the lot and asked to drive a 2008 g35 coupe). The salesman wouldn't let me drive the car, saying he thinks i was there "just to drive cars". I was there with my wife, drove in from Cambridge. We don't have time to mess around. I am not sorry that this guy did not get my business, but I am sorry that i wasted a day on them. Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere. read more
