My car's roof, with its signature carbon fiber checkerboard pattern, had a common and extremely unsightly, factory defect. For whatever reason, the way that the roof was manufactured caused an ever expanding oxidation to occur on multiple areas of the roof. These awful white spots/patches totally degraded the look of the car. When I discovered this issue I initially contacted the manufacturer to see what the cost would be to replace the roof with a brand-new factory piece. They quoted $35,000--just for the new roof alone, not counting labor (even the rep who gave me this quote was shocked at the price). Thank goodness Bob at Automotive Enterprise took on the project. The roof's intricate checkerboard pattern meant carefully mapping out, stenciling, and repainting over thousands of tiny elements (23,000 to be exact). It became a far bigger job than expected, yet the wonderful Bob honored his original quote. He ensured the roof was painstakingly repainted, then applied several layers of a self-healing clear coat meant to last the lifetime of the car--so I'll never have to worry about oxidation again. I had a fender bender in my 2013 Corvette. The car was pristine before the accident. I took it to a shop close to my home and while they were able to get the initial process going with my insurance, they quickly found out that parts were going to be very hard to find, so they declined the work. I had heard of Automotive Enterprise on the Corvette forum as well as seeing them at the annual Corvette show in downtown Los Altos, so I gave them a call. I spoke with Bob and I quickly realized that his shop was the place to take my car. After that initial phone call, my mind was put at ease. The experience was awesome. Bob sent photos of the process along the way and also worked with my insurance to get supplemental payments due to the hidden damage. My biggest concern was the paint matching since my car is a red metallic color. Bob told me that it was a tough color to match and they would have to blend the adjacent panels. I was apprehensive about it, but trusted Bob's 50+ years of experience. I was not disappointed with the results. I am one of the pickiest people and I could not see where they blended the paint. If you've read my blog or reviews you know that I travel with my "box", a '17 Big Foot Travel Trailer. Well, before my big loop in June/July to Glacier National Park and back, I took the Box in for a new tires. It also turns out my suspension leaf springs had failed. The fix looked great, but alas, the new suspension was also a #fail. My first road bump, even before I got on the freeway, caused the starboard side wheel on the trailer to pop up and hit my fiberglass wheel well. I was bummed as this was the first damage to my travel trailer, ever... I wasn't sure if it could be repaired, and figured the "custom" job would cost a fortune, IF, I could find someone to do the job since it was so small. The good news is, the vendor who had tried to help, suggested me to Bob at Automotive Enterprise. Bob is a pro and was willing to take on this project. He even had the ability to move my travel trailer around to do the work so I didn't need to leave my tow vehicle. The work was delicate and time consuming. He new it was a "fix of a fix" and that anything he could do to a) fix the damage and b) help bring down the cost would be greatly appreciated by both me and the vendor who did the original work to the suspension. My old Corvette was vandalized by some eggs. The paint was chipped and warped from the incident. Then took it to Bob and eventually left it with him after him telling me I had a poor paint job and continually telling him I didn't want to pay him $15k to repaint the car entirely after he kept bringing it up. He then said he'd fix the damage with what the insurance company would pay out, which was $4,500. Fast forward a month. I get the car back and 100% of the damage is still there. All he did was wax my car, I know that because even the wax job was horrible, wax was still on the door handles, windshield, fenders and hood. I then spent the next two weeks getting a response from him. Had to get my insurance company involved and show proof that all he basically did was wash my car for $4,500. Some how he convinced them that his time was worth $800 of the $4,500 and reimbursed me $3,700 after Geico made him. Complete con in every sense of the word. Avoid at all costs. read more

So my brand new 2020 Porsche 911 (992) Carrera 4S was rear ended by someone while I was stopped at a red light .. it wasn't a very bad collision but it did damage my rear bumper in several areas. The car being brand new, and a close to $200,000 investment, of course I wasn't happy about this, but I also knew that it would be critical to get it fixed right, and returned to factory original condition. The driver who hit me was insured with GEICO, who is notorious for nickel and dime repairs and sending you to their "recommended" body shop.. I knew that wasn't going to work, and after getting their estimate of $2015 to fix it, that didn't include a new bumper, but a repair the existing bumper, I immediately decided to go elsewhere... I happen to see that the Porsche recommended body shop was on Industrial so I went to find them, but on the way I saw Automotive Enterprise and Bob the owner happen to be there. He was very friendly and took time to look at the car, and take photos.. he ended up fighting on my behalf with GEICO to get a $5600+ repair with all replacement parts. He also worked with my "Riviver" electronic license plate, and best of all, he allowed me to have unrestricted visits and inspections of the repairs in process.. We were in constant communication and he was always helpful.. his son Rob, and two other employees... a painter and another body man were all very nice, and super professional in their work.. I was absolutely floored at the quality on this type of car... after all they do work on very nice and collectable corvettes. The 992 being "all-new" had very little in terms of documentation but they figured it all out and the fit and finish as well as all electrical components worked upon first time assembly.. an assembly which I was there to watch. I cannot strongly enough recommend this shop for your high end car.. They were "White glove" with my car, and accommodated all of my OCD requirements to keep the interior clean and not allow the car to get damaged by dust and shop related contaminants.. I took my Tesla Model 3 to Automotive Enterprise after scraping the rear passenger door and quarter panel while pulling into a narrow garage. Even though the repair took longer than I had hoped, it looks like brand new. Bob is clearly very experienced when it comes to working with insurance adjustors. There was initially a large gap between Bob's estimate and the insurance company's which interrupted work for a few days; however, after a visual inspection, work resumed and I am very happy with the outcome. Throughout the process, I had minimal contact with the insurance company thanks to Bob's diligence and experience. The owner, Bob, was a nice guy, but I was completely dissatisfied with the work they performed. A 16 year old kid bumped into my brand new car when I was stopped at a traffic light, leaving a few scratches and a screw mark on my bumper, and Bob assured me he could buff this out and apply touch up paint so it'd look like brand new unless someone looked very closely. For ~$300 to the mom of the poor kid that hit me, my car now looks like it's been painted with white nail polish by a child. The indentation from the screw is still clearly visible from a distance, and the dots of touch up paint really look like drops of nail polish. After I expressed my dissatisfaction, he said that if I could bring it back for another hour, they'd polish it up some more. Who knows why they didn't do that in the first place... He had talked me down from the full bumper replacement recommended by another shop - which I agree was excessive for the very minor damage - but I should have been concerned when he used the logic that "he couldn't match the manufacturer's quality" to convince me to just go with sanding, buffing, and touch up paint rather than replacing the whole bumper. Next time I'm filing a claim with insurance and going with a better shop. He gets one star for lining up a decent rental car smoothly. read more

I was referred to Bob at Auto Enterprise by a nearby audio company that's done some work for me in the past - I need guidance on paint options for a 1975 BMW that I use as my daily driver. The car was near perfect already but had a handful of noticeable blemishes that drove me crazy as I got further along w/ restoration efforts. I'd spoken w/ a handful of other shops about touch-up, blending, painting specific panels - nobody wanted the work. "Too difficult, time consuming, not worth it," were answers I received. Matching a 40-yr old single-stage paint is virtually impossible. I've purchased dealer touch-up kits and had shops try to mix something up. Both experiences left my prized possession looking not-so-hot. Bob's an enthusiast - he knows cars and understands the value and significance of preserving a vintage car's original paint. I met w/ him 2-3 times to review the work. He spent considerable time walking me through the process and assured me that I'd be happy w/ the final product. I promised I'd write a killer Yelp review if he held up his end of the bargain. And now here we are... I made it very clear that budget and quality were my priorities. Bob is a very nice guy, no doubt. However, my wife was very disappointed with the work on her car. Our car was keyed and we asked Bob to make it better. Well, for $250, it does not look much better. In fact the hood looks a little worse, with very small , tiny chips in the paint. His 'credit card machine was broken". I guess he wants just a check or cash. I had my Mazda Miata fixed at Coastal auto body, and was very happy. I thought these shops were one in the same, but they are not. Apparently Coastal Auto Body is no longer in business. They are just located next to each other. Buyer beware. Bob could have made it better by giving me a refund or partial refund for the unsatisfactory work. I am sure Bob does excellent work on Corvettes. It is just that my car is not a Corvette. In the final analysis, I should have had a detail shop try to buff out the key scratches for $100. And then buy some touch up paint from the car dealer of my car for $8.00, and just touch up the scratches. Live and learn. Bob seems like a good, and decent man. I went to Automotive Enterprises auto body shop upon referral from a very dear, and sharp friend. It's important to only take referrals from the smart ones! :) My poor Honda was in dire need of an auto body shop when I got into an accident and bent up my hood, thrashed my bumper, the AC & radiatior were ruined and my fenders were wasted--basically the whole front-end looked like hell; and it was fairly new, so you could imagine how I felt! ;( From the beginning, Robert Waldschmidt, the owner, was extremely professional & curteous. I prefaced my conversation with him, indicating the fact that I have lousey insurance, but he said he had experience with them, and has sucessfully negotiated with them. In response to Bin -- really, if you can't recognize this type of email, then you've not been on the web very long. Apparently, someone got a hold of AE's email and hacked it, then sent out a bogus email under that email address. The business itself is reputable (I've done business with them) and they wouldn't send out junk. The most considerate thing to do -- and I will do this -- is tell the business owner that their email was stolen and they'll fix it. But, even the best emails can be hacked and it doesn't reflect on the person or business. Automotive Enterprise does great work. Bob Walschmidt, who heads the firm, is very knowledgable about exotic cars and gave me a very fair quote, within a few hundred from another shop in Sonoma. The work his team did was outstanding! I've not had any work done here--my cars are too rough and tumble to be worthy--but I often see original Cobra's, classic Vettes including my all time favorite 1962 model, and souped up rockets of every kind here getting work done. They seem to specialize in high end body work and I've also seen some nicely done aero mods on a brand new Volvo V50 which is my latest favorite candidate for My Next Car. read more

Bob at Automotive really took care of me. A couple of weeks ago my son's car was vandalized while he was in school. Someone keyed a message of hate it the hood. The police are investigating, but since the car is older we don't have comprehensive insurance and we really needed the hood fixed and didn't have the money to spend. I brought him the car Friday evening an by Saturday afternoon I had the car back and it was fantastic! He had managed to buff the hood out so well that you couldn't read the words any more. It was a huge relief and he didn't charge me very much. If they ever catch the people that did this, I will take the car back and have the full repair, including the door that was kicked in. 8 yrs ago my 06 mustang was in your shop for some body work. While it was there I had you lower the height of the car. Since you lowered there had alway been a knock in it. And the the steering was really shaky at high speeds, which I attribute to H-101and a stiff front end.But the knock is what bothered me. Fast forward to present, it was definitely my fault for never bringing the car back to Bob to complaint about the noise from the beginning. But a good front end mechanic aligning my front end found the problem. A worn and out of adjustment gear box. Tell me me Bob, how can that be, a 2yr. old car at the time with under under 20,000 mi. And the box is worn! You think I'm stupid, you swapped out my box for another you thief.I have been a customer of yours for over 20yrs. And you pull this me! You jeopardize the safety of the car and mostly you put my life on the line, you no good SOB. You gouge me for other things after this too but there's not enough room for me to tell about. What's done is done I don't have any recourse get back for your your wrong doing except tell everyone DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH BOB WALSCHMIDT HE IS A THIEF AND GOUGER! WHAT A JOKE a review from someone who hasn't used the services of the business reviewed!!!!! I did use their services, twice over a period of years, the first time was a pleasure, good work, service, and on time. The second time unfortunately was a train wreck. The person i first dealt with no longer worked there, i was told he got ill and had to leave, but all others were long time employees, except i didn't recognize the people who were telling me this. To make a long story short, the job took 3 days longer than promised, the paint did not match, and they charged my insurance company more than they estimated, and tried to get me to pay the difference!!!! It looks like the business has closed as the building it was in is empty and all signs are gone, I say good riddance. read more

i had a little mishap in my beloved z06 and found this shop on yelp. a glowing review by a guy who said that he was a picky type caught my eye- sounds good. i brought my baby to bob and his family, and i could not be happier. bob worked with my insurance company, and his son repaired my car. i am very particular, and i have to say that the quality of work is top notch. the body work is good, lines are straight. my car is silver and the paint match is very good. the only complaint i have is that it took a little while, but as they say- nothing good comes fast! these guys take pride in their work and it shows. the best repair experience i have had. ever! read more

I've done business with Bob for years. My work truck has a Fibreglass shell that is custom made for my European delivered truck and not available here in the states. Somewhere in its life someone backed up with the gate open and cracked broke the right side of the gate to the point that when open with the strut it was making the crack worse, Since this is my daily driver and work horse, I needed it done quickly when started and done to a high standard. I asked Bob about it, he gave me a date to bring it in and assured me he could have it done the same day. When I arrived the helped me take the gate off and after signing a work order I was again assured it would be ready at the end of the day. I received a call that it was ready by late afternoon. I was nowhere near there and planned to pick it up the next morning. The repair was flawless ,they helped me re -install the gate and the final price was as quoted, I handed Bob My Business C/C and I was in and out of there in under 1/2 Hr. Bottom line,Bob know Fibreglass and knows how important it is to get things done in a timely fashion so that other people can get their stuff done as well. Horrible business done by BOB, I brought my car in to the shop after I got hit, bob told me to leave my car there to get it fixed after we established pricing and all , so i did. a week later I went to go check in on my car and no work was done to it , Because he was still trying get the ok from the insurance.. I got upset and decided to take my car else where, in order for him to realse me my car back he charged me $900.00 for storage fee's and other crap. Why would he tell me to leave my car if he didn't know what the insurance was going to tell him... Horrible experience. I don't recommend anyone to take their car there, go else where... When my 2007 Chevy HHR was rear ended, my husband told me to come here. His father has been using Automotive Enterprise to keep his car in good shape for years. Since my father-in-law is a salesman and spends most of his time on the road yet his car still looks well taken care of, I followed my husband's advice. I'm glad I did! The car that hit me dented the hatchback, damaged the bumper and pushed the exhaust into the gas tank (melting a hole in the tank). I brought the car in on a Saturday and Bob was able to quickly set me up with a rental. From the moment I dropped the car off, I didn't have to worry about the repair. My recent experience with Bob Waldschmidt and his crew at Automotive Enterprise was excellent. I caused a self-inflicted wound on my 2008 Acura RL backing out of a parking spot and sideswiping a pole that had sprung up - as they seem to once in a while. I had just changed car insurance companies and thought I wouldn't bother my new one with what looked like a $499 deductible special. Bob had done excellent insurance work on 2 of my cars back in the '90s, so I confidently went back to him. Unfortunately, I'd not only dented the rear quarter panel, but the seam between it and the bumper, and caused some scraping damage to the bumper as well. Bob said to give it the full treatment would run about $3,500. However, he contracts with a dent specialist, who looking at the damage, felt that he, with Bob's crew working the seam and bumper, could do a "90% repair" for around $1,500. Much better, considering the car is already 4 years old. Bob estimated 2 to 3 days, said he could start the next week, and hooked me up with a rental from Enterprise when I brought my car in the following Monday. The RL was ready in the 3 days promised, and thoroughly cleaned inside and out. The price estimate held firm, and all of us looking at the area agreed that they'd not achieved a 90% repair - but a 100% repair!
