Giving 2 stars because my first experience here was decent and the people were kind and reasonable. However, recently I had my car towed here due to it not starting, ultimately ended up only needing a battery replacement. They charged me $550 to diagnose the dead battery and place a new one which to me is ridiculous. Could've had that done any other shop for half the price. Definitely felt taken advantage of and person on the phone totally dismissed my request for an oil change that they did not do. I'm disappointed because as a returning customer I would think I would be treated fairly as I am giving you repeat business. I've brought my commuter car here 3 times and my sister had brought her car here as well. These are legit, honest people. It's truly as simple as that. Each time I received my car back from them I've had no worries or issues. My sister dropped off her car on a Saturday morning and we got it back Saturday evening. Fast and reliable. Rory is the best, I truly enjoy her persona and her attitude. She's pretty straight to the point and that's what I respect about her. I took my car to the Acura dealership before I brought it to them. The dealership quoted my $450+ for my brakes and told me the issue with my car was the fuse box and they quoted an additional $1100 for that. I told them no and left because it just didn't feel right. I knew there wasn't anything wrong with the fuse box because I had gotten the car locked at fully over not too long ago. So I was a bit depressed because this car has a lot of memories with me and I didn't want to let it go. I ended up bringing it here and was told that it was the battery from what they could see. I was quoted a price for a new battery and installation. Somewhere around $220. I declined because I had so much dobut due to the Acura dealership. 2 months go by and I said screw it! Let me put a cheap battery in and see. If that works then I'll go forward. I went and bought an $80 battery and installed it, car started right away! I called Automotive Specialist right away and they got my car in that same day. Fixed the breaks for $338, more than $100 less than the dealership. I've had no issues with the breaks so far either. So yes! I recommend them! read more

We are full-timers, our 40' Holiday Rambler Push Diesel is our home. Any mechanical repairs mean we are out of our home for a period of time. Our passenger side air can had an internal failure. Automotive Specialists were very understanding of our plight and said they would get right on the problem. The repair was made in a very short time period and the price they charged was very reasonable, we even received a Senior Discount. My catalytic converter was cut out. I took my truck over to them and told them my insurance company will pay for repairs. They estimated the cost around 1900.00. After a few days later,they said additional pipes were needed. New estimate 2995.00. After a week and a half, I went to pick up my truck. They tell me my truck is driving very rough and test codes were way off. They wanted to know if I wanted to leave my truck for additional tests and repairs. I payed them and drove over to Emily's auto repair. They test drove it and found my truck was stuck in third gear because automotive specialist did not re wire the sensor wire. Emily technician connected the wire and the truck drove smoothly. They did not charge me anything. read more

We were leaving for home (Clearlake, CA) from Orting towing our trailer when the "check engine" light came on in our truck. Called brother Rick, referred me to Automotive Specialists and talk to Chris. Amazing people! The whole staff was ready to help to get us on the road. Did diagnostic and it was one of two things or possibly both. Fuel injector pump :( ($4000.00) or some crank sensor ($350.00). All said and done.. Crank Sensor!!! :) Started with cheapest fix first.. These peolple are scammers! Highly DO NOT recommend them. Had them replace the heads on my vehicle at $5500! It started smoking and leaking oil a month later. They will not fix it. Told me now the bottom end is bad which i had no issues before with the bottom end or leaking oil issue. I am a small company and this really set me back. I knew they are big and expensive which is why I felt confident they would have done a great job and stand behind there work. I seen another review about how they create more problems so you come back to spend more money. Terribble service. I will be getting a lawyer and another shop to fix their mess up. read more

I travel about 70 miles to Automotive Specialists to have my motor home worked on by them. They are always able to take in my 32' Class A right away (within 2 to 3 days) because of their large lot. They diagnose it if needed and repair it right away as well even though their lot is usually pretty full. They just seem to staff it so they get things done when the customer needs it. I travel that distance after having needed someone in their area for a major break job and they accepted the tow after no one else would on a late Friday afternoon. They've always done a fantastic job and I'm picky and won't take my RV to anyone in my local area for engine and chassis work after having tried most. Chris at the service desk is the best in all ways possible. I've had some major things go wrong lately with my 15 yr. old Winnebago and working with him is nothing but a pleasure. He takes what can be a stressful situation and at least makes it less so by being informative, patient, and kind while helping you deal with a less than positive experience. Not to take anything away from Rory who is very nice as well, I've just worked mostly with Chris to date. I can't recommend Automotive Specialists more highly if you have a vehicle you trust enough to put your family in you need these guys doing the repairs on it. read more

Had a fuel pump replaced on our motorhome. Was charged $1400. They stated it was a special order item, that costs $900. I found the same part at AutoZone for $225. read more

Hubby and I have been going here since 1994. On yahoo, there's couple of people have problems with them. But we never had ANY problems with them at all. They give us good price (not pricey like other mechanics are) and they get it done less than a day. Dropped my car off last night about 330p for motor & torque mount replace, got a call 8am this morning that my car's ready to be pick up. They ROCKS!!!! read more

They reamed me good, they said they would replace the wire harness with a new one from the firewall to the front of the car, paid my $1,400 bill and went out and got on my car and left, everything worked, got home and opened the hood and they only cut off the bad wires and put some new ones here and there, they just fixed the open wires with new sections, not a new harness like I was told, paid $1,400 for a $400 job, I guess I shouldn't bitch everything works, except my wallet needs fixing now. read more

where to start. i went here trying to get my car to run right....i knew it wasn't running on all cylinders. got my car over here and had them look at it. since they had an ASE certified mechanic on hand i thought i would be in good hands. they stuck it up to the computer to spit out the codes. codes don't necessarily mean that its the culprit to solving the problem. they told me i needed a new catalytic converter which would be too expensive to fix ($2800-$3200). of course i opted not to fix. i took it to another repair shop, and he had said one of the coil pack was bad($25 part plus labor) i had my ECT sensor replaced($30 part) and all my check engine light problems gone and my car up and running properly. so my catalytic converter was not at fault. what kind of diagnosing is this? especially from an ASE certified mechanic? i went from looking at a $3k repair to a $175 repair of couple small parts. oh what a feeling. geesh. read more
