I've given just a small amount of business to Autosport so far, but during my couple of visits Brad has proven to be both a generous font of great advice and a truly fun guy to spend a few minutes with. This is the first auto shop I've been in that has the feel of an old-school motorcycle shop: like once you crack the code, a whole world of experience will open up to you. Only they don't make you guess and flounder; there's no "noob tax" of sly mockery until you figure out your stuff. Autosport guys are genuinely friendly and helpful -- and they're not concours snobs, either. It's great to have a place in town to source parts for my decidedly non-stock MGB V8. It's even better that they're cool about it. Every time I talk to Brad, I get a little more excited about my own car. Need a Brit part? So I was on the mission to find the best motor oil for my Ducati monster locally. I did some research on Redline oil dealers and Autosports came on. I called them right away, and asked for the oil that i needed. They didn't have them in stock but they could get it there within an hour no problem! I ordered and went to pick it up right away. AVOID taking anything you value to Autosport Seattle. They lied and replaced a serviceable part, damaged my cylinder head and were hostile when I returned to address their work. I took the aluminum cylinder head from my 1989 BMW for a simple resurface. I was quoted $78. My bill at pickup? $764! What happened, you ask? They decided I need a valve job and a new camshaft. I was told my old camshaft was worn beyond limits. The car has 71K miles. Yes, that was hard to believe, but like a dummy, I took their word for it and authorized them to basically rebuild my head. When I got the head back, there was a single valve cover stud sticking out of the top of the head and it wasn't set to top dead center. Strange. what's a valve cover stud doing on my head when it was just rebuilt? Both of these spell poor attention to detail and basically indicative of a mechanic who doesn't care. Having a moment of clarity, I asked for the used camshaft before I left the shop. I should have known that something was up right then when the mechanic grabbed my camshaft and quickly wrapped it up in a cloth and put it in my trunk while I was trying to get him to hand it to me. I got home and unwrapped my old camshaft after inspecting the head further. There was NO, ZERO, NADA need to replace the camshaft. Period. There was standard wear for 71K but no damage, grooves or otherwise wear marks of any significance on any sort in the lobes. I had been taken. But that's not the end of the story. I installed the new head and the car drove terrible afterwards. I went through significant troubleshooting, of course thinking it was something I overlooked on reassembly. Finally, I did a vacuum check with a smoke machine. Smoke was pouring out of only one location: the cap on the cylinder head at the end of the camshaft. The lip of the cap was damaged when the new cam was installed. There was a impact at the lip that caused a crimp and the head wasn't sealed. I had just spent $764 to have this head rebuilt. It was returned unserviceable. I headed straight over to their shop to address these issues. The owner and the shop manager were hostile and violent. I should have called the police on the spot when the shop manager would not let me close my hood and leave the scene which was turning aggressive. I was called an idiot and told numerous times I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was when I was accused of doing the damage myself. But I wasn't allowed to leave because the shop manger physically held my hood open with his hands while I tried to close it to leave. So here I am with a head that needs to come back off to be repaired. The cap cannot be replaced with the head on the car. This is the equivalent of 15 hours of labor to do this job, not to mention head gasket replacement parts and another resurfacing of the head. I was scammed and later insulted and threatened. Go someplace else for your work. You'll be sorry if you use Autosport. Don't say I didn't tell you so. read more

I went in looking to get some bearings pressed for some rear hubs on my VW. I was missing the inside race and they ordered me new bearings for a great price. Not only that but they opened the store early for me both on the day I brought them in and when I came to pick them up. The price was very reasonable as well. Friendly, honest, and knowledgeable. Its hard to hit the mark as a auto/machine shop, but this place does it. This was my first experience here and I took a shot based upon others reviews. I'm glad I did. Brad and John were super helpful. John took a Offenhauser valve cover I had and milled it then drill in a pcv valve. The quality of craftsman ship was top notch. I have a 1971 Datsun 510 wagon with an L20B. I wanted to rebuild/refresh the motor. I've used Auto Sport before and was happy with the results and services enough to use them again. This time around they didn't disappoint. John and Brad were more than thoughtful and extremely helpful throughout the whole rebuild process. I just read an review from someone who'd had a engine botched by a different shop and Autosport fixed everything for him. It's been quite a while and I'd forgotten about it, so I'm glad his review reminded me - I had the exact same experience. A shop I THOUGHT had a very good reputation (they're now out of business) had charged me for machine work they hadn't done, keep botching up the parts ordering so it ended up taking months to get everything I needed, and some of the parts were wrong (that was my first clue they'd not machined the crankshaft - they sold me standard sized bearings.) I can't say enough good about these guys, especially Brad. I did a brake job on a newer Mercedes and had some minor complications that were completely unrelated to Autosport. I ordered the parts through Autosport and was doing the work myself.
