Per their procedures, the professional technicians reviewed all aspects of steering, belts, hoses, electrical, brakes, etc. and corrected a few minor issues. I feel bad leaving this review because everyone I spoke to was nice, but I will be going elsewhere for future services. The attention to detail is not there at Matt's. When I came in for my scheduled appt, they did not have it on the calendar, but said they can take my car anyways. I asked for an oil change, inspection, and tire rotation. I also asked them to check one tire that was deflating faster than the others. After taking a look, they told me I did not need a rotation, and that the deflating tire was fine. I went elsewhere and it turns out Matt's got my tread measurements wrong, and I was definitely overdue for a rotation. They also did not notice a gash in my tire. And they did not reset my car system reminder for the oil change. read more

Matt's Automotive went above and beyond in helping to diagnose a very complicated interior vehicle leak that we experienced. His team ended up needing to disassemble the entire front dashboard to diagnose the cause of the leak. It was a job as tedious as it was technically difficult, but the team undertook it for us and found the origin of the leak deep within the engine/cabin firewall. We were extremely impressed with the team's diligence and work ethic, and we suspect they didn't bill us for all the time their team used to diagnose the issue (plus dry out the car for us when we brought it in). I was driving my 2015 Camry one day and ran over a bump in the road that I didn't see and my car was pretty rattled from it. I didn't think much of it, but over time I began hearing a strange clicking noise every time I turned my wheel to the left or went up a ramp. I began doing research into it and believed my cv axle might have been damaged. When I went into Toyota to get my oil changed, I asked them if they could inspect where the sound was coming from, but they weren't able to find anything and if I wanted to have a diagnosis done, it would be $100! I decided to look around the Seattle area for a mechanic shop and found Matt's Greenwood auto care and decided to check them out from their good reviews. I called them and told them what was going on with my car and they told me they could probably diagnose it and let me know how much it would be to fix it afterwards. They were not able to book an appointment for me as soon as possible due to the short notice, however, they said I could drop my car off the next day and they could tend to it if they were able to find some downtime. I came in the next day to drop off my car and they were able to get back to me within the same day. They were able to figure out the problem and found that a screw had been loosened near the left front axle from an impact which I assume was from the bump I drove over roughly. They charged me a reasonable price for the fix that toyota would probably charge twice or three times as much for and my car seemed to be working fine ever since! When I did my most recent visit to get a maintenance check at toyota, they told me it was necessary and time to replace the PCV valve in my car and when I asked how much it would be, they quoted me for $500! Remembering my experience with Matt's auto care, I decided to call them and ask if they could do it for me instead. They seem to be confused and informed me that parts like that usually don't ever go bad and aren't usually replaced, especially in Toyota's. They told me I should be fine and that Toyota dealership seems to be a little suspicious and practically saved me $500! Just from these two experiences alone, the guys at Matt's Greenwood autocare essentially saved me from over $1000 worth of repairs and replacements. The workers here are very honest and upfront and I definitely recommend coming here if you are still on the fence about it. Their reviews are highly justified! read more

RECCOMMEND! We followed Matt from his previous employer maybe over 20 years ago. This shop has consistently provided solid and honest service. The estimates they provide are accurate and they do not "throw parts" at issues in the hopes of fixing the problem. We've had 4 cars serviced since Matt's opened and could not be more satisfied. They use OEM parts on our Honda, Acura, and Nissan cars - which are much higher quality that cheap,generic parts-store parts. The staff are consistently pleasant and professional staying with Matt for many years. I can only assume that Matt treats his staff right. They have loaner cars for big jobs - not fancy - but convenient. They are more expensive than other shops AND you get what you pay for. I went to Matt's auto after I got pretty outrageous auto repair suggestion from Firestone tires ($3,000 worth of repairs). They didn't have any openings but agreed to just take a look at my car during a 15 min window to see if the issues that Firestone "said" I had. They propped the car up, took a look and explained to me (in plain English because i know nothing about cars) about how Firestone was pretty much screwing me over and that our car was fine. They didn't ask for money or anything. The guy who i talked too also was telling me it stinks how these chain auto repair shops screw people over and it frustrates him how it puts a black eye on the auto industry. My 2009 Toyota Matrix needed 60k service and a check up on engine rattling noise. I called Toyota lake city way dealership first and got a quote of $600 for 60k service. It's quite expensive so I started looking around for a different service shop and one of my best friends recommended Matt's Greenwood Auto. He said if Tony still works there then you know this shop is the place to go to. He did business win Tony before and knows he is an honest, trustworthy and qualified technician. I called and talked to John who answered the phone. He said it's him, Tony and Allen who work in the shop and quoted me $363 for 60k service. I did my service at the shop and had a full inspection on everything. It turned out the engine rattling noise was from low on engine oil. And car is totally fine! I feel very taken care of and had a great experience with everyone from this location. I will definitely go back when I need future maintenance. My first outing with these guys; after reading all the reviews I decided I wanted to bring in my old Civic for some needed work. I wanted an a/c recharge, transmission service, and rear brakes done, so I dropped my 20 yr. old car off for the services. Within about two hours Matt himself called to tell me that the brakes didn't need to be done, but some other issues needed to be looked into/ possibly taken care of (a couple of oil leaks near the timing belt, suspension boots, etc.) He didn't pressure me into fixing them; he left the decision entirely up to me, but the way he described everything left me fully confident that the jobs described would be fully handled by the staff at Matt's Greenwood Auto. I got periodic updates while they had the car, and even had a loaner car the entire time. Long story short: I went ahead with the needed repairs, the bill was very reasonable and my 2002 Civic is now in perfect shape and ready to roll for at least another 100k miles. These guys will help keep it that way, and I'll guarantee you won't have to pay those exorbitant prices our local dealerships charge (I'm not doing that again!!) I had a broken tail light and I couldn't get the plastic cover off - the bolt was too tight. I already had the part and as a single woman I just needed some muscle. I made a few calls and one place said 'MAYBE they could help' if I "dropped off the car for hours" and another said I could make an appointment for the next week. Then I called Matt's and they said I could just pop in and they'd help. When I showed up 10 minutes later (accidentally to a different Matt's location) they still offered to help me fix the issue and I didn't even have to wait. What a great group of guys! They actually fixed it for FREE since I already had the bulb and it took 5 min. The funniest part is that I own a Volvo and they only service Japanese cars. I WISH I had a car to take back to Matt's. Matt's auto care always provides fabulous service with an appreciation for my time and money. Most recently, I was having trouble with my truck rack and need help loosening a couple of big bolts in the bed. I called up Matt's and spoke with Alan who told me to go ahead and bring the truck in and he would see about getting someone in the shop to help with the bolts. Sure enough, I came down later the next day and barely had enough time to walk down the street for a coffee before the folks at the shop had gotten those bolts loose for me. Car repairs and maintenance are never cheap, but I feel confident that I'm getting what I pay for here. Most recently, during a recent snowstorm, we had a bizarre vandalism of our windshield wipers that John was kind enough to help us get fixed. He ordered the parts from Hyundai and came out and did the repair himself in the parking lot within 10 minutes and didn't even charge us labor since it was a quick task. I made an appt 2 weeks in advance to diagnose my brake problems. My steering wheel was shaking a bit when I braked so I knew something was off. I arrived at 10am for my appt and Tony helped me at the front desk. I gave him the keys for a test drive and 30 minutes later I came back to the shop and he had a diagnosis and cost breakdown. He explained to me that the rotors were warped, front brake pads needed replacing and that the rear brakes were misaligned. He said that the rotors could not be machined anymore so they had to be replaced. The rotor was not in stock but he would be able to order it for delivery that afternoon. Total cost was $453 + tax which I think is fair market value for the work done. I came back in the afternoon at 3pm for my car and was soon on my way. I immediately noticed a difference in my brakes. The car seemed to stop smoothly and when I used the parking brake it was tighter as well, meaning that rear adjustments were done. I've been driving my car for about 2 weeks now and I'm happy to report that things are still going smoothly and that this was money well spent. I can feel more confident knowing that my car should stop quickly when needed and that is a must with Seattle driving. I will be back again if I need another service! read more

I am sharing here because I have tried to get a hold of this place to set a time to take my car in and I have never received a single call back. I posted in the Yelp app that I was looking for a place to have my car serviced and they were one of the first to respond, which I was happy with. I had a message from them that I could call the Greenwood location to set up an appointment. I called a few times and never got a call back. I posted a message to the business on the Yelp app noting that I had called several times and left a message, never getting a reply. NO ONE ever responded to that message and NO ONE ever called me back and I left several messages. I hate complaining as I know that capacity and time is rough at the moment. However, there is just no excuse. Someone could have responded to my Yelp message or my calls, even if to say that there was no time available. I was hoping to get into this place because it is close to where I live, but I guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere. By the time I realized this, they were closed and I had to find an alternative way to get to work the next day. I never would have thought to set up a reminder to check with the shop! The next day they didn't even call me within the first hour of business. I called and was given a quick "sorry about that". I picked up my car that evening and found it with an oily boot print on the trim. After all this the car still made the noise that I wanted checked out, which they couldn't find anything. It's been a while since I've been here (made friends who work on cars!) But this is a quintessential "good shop". The technicians and manager were always very forthcoming. Any time I asked questions or wanted to physically see things on the vehicle, they were happy to help. Tech advice generally felt like what they'd do with their personal vehicles. At least a few times, they actually ate small costs because they knew I was a cash-strapped student. Labor wasn't the cheapest, but everything they've ever fixed was ~fixed~.
